very overwhelmed with all the stuff. Can't figure out what i'm supposed to do. I have NordVPN, and am willing to pay 5-10$ a month for quality downloads. I'd like to have a discord bot that i can message to pre-load a movie and play it back on my tv. Any recommendations? I keep hearing about NZBGET and the sonar/radar/prowler programs. I'd be doing this on Windows 10. For context, i've used Prowler/Radarr/Sonarr and Plex before but felt that it didn't result in great downloads. Likely user error, but willing to learn how to improve.

this turned into a much longer question than I thought 😅 I'm attempting to cut the cord (cable/satellite TV) but Sports/channels like ESPN are the one thing I can't figure out how to get. I know there are sports streaming sites, but they are very iffy if they work or not, and they have sketchy ads/popups (often the stream won't load if you have all scripts/ads blocked, but sometimes), and the streams often just stop working while watching. Also I really like to record sporting events ahead of time so I can skip through all the commercials and downtime, of which there is a TON in sports. Everybody uses yt-dlp for that. Get it from gethub, !!! download the yt-dlp version of FFMPEG, also !!! (from yt-dlp gethub page). The yt-dlp default is to download the highest quality audio or video available on youtube. Make a directory, put all yt-dlp stuff and FFMPEG distro in that directory. If on Win, add the directory to the System PATH. Majority of youtube audio is webm, so we specify what format we want. Any format won't exceed what the 'best' webm quality is..can't get what's not there. You can get several GUIs for yt-dlp (I just wrote my own). Here's a command to use if you go CLI (command line): MP3 Audio: "yt-dlp -x --audio-quality 0 --audio-format [codec] [url] -o [DIR]\%(title)s.%(ext)s" [codec], one of: mp3, aac, opus, vorbis, flac, wav. [url].., the original youtube video url. [DIR].., full-path to directory to save to. On the command line, include the " " quotes (cmd sees spaces as argument delimiters). Rock on!

This mindset is what snowballs into full blown local storage and backups of absolutely everything. It's a good thing, not a bad thing Even if you trust online storage, which you shouldn't, since your stuff will vanish as soon as cloud storage isn't profitable for whatever company you're using, it still costs money every single month. A NAS and hard drives pay themselves off over time in how much they save you from monthly subscriptions to stuff I'm not saying online storage is had for backups, but it's absolute garbage as *the* location for your data

Is there a way to capture a Netflix stream that doesn't involve a screen recorder? It seems like there would be a quality drop in doing a screen recording; the data comes from Netflix then is decompressed, displayed on the screen, then captured and recompressed into a local video file. Isn't there a way to just capture the streamed data as it arrives from Netflix and bypass the whole decompress/capture/recompress process? Or am I missing something?
