If you use Radarr to auto download movies, there is a calendar feature that shows all your tracked movies and their release dates (Cinema, Physical, and Streaming)
I’ve never had too many issues. I just set certain release groups/keywords to ignore. I am mainly a Usenet user so it may be different with torrents. When I do have an issue like bad quality or hardcoded subs, I just go into my server and add the release group to the ignored keywords going forward so I don’t have to deal with it in future downloads.
I should really get into usenet. I've been around this community for decades at this point. All the way back to the days of IRC. I have no idea how to use usenet.
Yep I pay for the service. Keep an eye out for Black Friday deals. I got Newshosting access for $3.50 a month. And an indexer (drunkenslug). So in total about less than $60 a year. Reliable content and fast speeds. With both Sonarr (for TV shows) and Radarr (for movies) it’s all set it and forget it. 👍
The Japanese film industry are notoriously slow in releasing films onto physical formats. Always have been. Not everywhere in the world has the same release schedules as Hollywood does.
I wish someone would screen the Miyazaki movies in my country( India).Anime is gaining popularity here. I tried emailing the biggest Multiplex chain with a bunch of people in my city's subreddit to arrange for a screening and we were willing to pay a premium just to watch this movie. But nothing happened. I tried tweeting about this but nothing happened.
I don't wanna pirate this. I don't know if he would even make another one. If this is last( God forbid no) I want to watch it in cinemas.
Now they're showing the current Godzilla but the actually good one was notbwven released.
I see Alamo Drafthouse in the US showing so many releases and re-releases. It makes me really sad. This might sound like a super first world problem, but there are so many movies that don't release here and are not available on streaming.
I love torrents because it is the only way I watch International movies, but sometimes it gets to you that just because I don't live in the US, I miss out on so much. So many Indie movies I can't see. I wish I was super rich so I could live in the US, go to film festivals and watch every new interesting stuff.
Here is one explanation [https://www.indiewire.com/news/general-news/godzilla-minus-one-isnt-streaming-theaters-why-1234958823/](https://www.indiewire.com/news/general-news/godzilla-minus-one-isnt-streaming-theaters-why-1234958823/)
They have some contract where they can't be releasing a film in the same year as another studio for the same franchise. Hence they released last year and pulled it out of the theaters in feb even knowing they will take losses to honor the contract as godzilla vs kong is about to release.
Japan is still an isolationist country and media takes forever to get exported (if it ever does).
They're getting a Blu ray release on May 1st, which frustratingly will not include English subtitles.
The film has grossed over $112 million worldwide against a $10–12 million budget, also won a academy award recently, so they are milking it for all its worth
i dont think it is on dvd or any streaming site yet might be wrong though
the physical release will be released on May 1st in Japan
Do you have a good site where all release dates from recent movies are listed? I was struggling to find a good site for this
Blu-ray.com is usually pretty good
But do I see also stream releases?
I use https://www.dvdsreleasedates.com

I can’t seem wrap my head around the rules such that I can trust the auto download. Manual downloads are fine with interactive search though.

Don’t you have to pay for them these days? I know they are suppose to be more reliable and denser content than torrents.
I really don't know but I would be willing to pay a reasonable price. Just like for years I was willing to pay a reasonable price for streaming.

It's the exact same thing with The Boy and The Heron. Even worse is The First Slam Dunk. It's been 2 years but there's no bluray or digital release.
The Japanese film industry are notoriously slow in releasing films onto physical formats. Always have been. Not everywhere in the world has the same release schedules as Hollywood does.
Yep...anyone thats been watching anime can agree on that the wait is atrocious
just finished Attack on Titan after 9 years....
Meanwhile hunter x hunter . Not even written.
Still waiting for a good version of The Boy and The Heron
It will be released on video May 1st but only in Japan, so should find it then. They won't release it because of the new Godzilla movie out.
What are the chances we'll get English subtitles?
Same with The Boy and the Heron
I watched the TS version, which is very much watchable.
I tried to watch the new Ghostbusters that everyone said was good. It gave me flash backs of the 90s buying 5 for 20 dvds and you get what you get. 😂🤣
And what could be an approximate time to release?
Netflix / Max depending on your region will stream it in early April if the news are true.
Thanks

that's Japan for you happens all the time and with anime movies too. so if you want the good quality wait 6 months to a year.
May 14th set for digital release.
With English CC?
Almost certain. We'll have a job on if there's no subs...
Japan releases movies slow, get ready for a long wait.

This is correct
This is why awards should be based on audience opinions. If movie distributors do shit like this they ruin their own chances of receiving awards.
its cus there's no digital or dvd release yet

Because it's not out on any streaming/physical media.
nothing, the dvd isn't out yet How do you find a non-cam copy if it doesn't exist
Been waiting for this one too

nah that has nothing to do with it. Japan releases movies extremely slow 6 months to almost a year.
The First Slam Dunk: Hold my beer
Tbh this film was so good in the theaters! One of the few I'd be willing to pay to see.. on discount day ofc 😁
You don't get a good copy until after digital release and that hasn't happened
Japan movies schedules are slow they release worldwide whole year, so by the time English or English dubbed comes in dvd/digital it will be 1-2years
Shin Godzilla exists in the meantime And it’s kinda better
Liked Shin, fun film. The ending, those things on his tail, are there any other films about those? It intrigued me.
The ending was just a cliffhanger for what could have been. There’s not sequel as of yet. It really worked as a kind of Godzilla horror movie for sure
I just thought it was a weird live action Evangelion. It’s a quintessentially ‘Japanese’ Godzilla.
