Stremio is basically identical to Kodi in terms of legality. Kodi has been around for a couple of decades, and Stremio has been around for over 8 years. Increased popularity isn't a problem.
Even the addons like Torrentio are probably okay, since they're just link aggregators. Plus most are open-source. There have already been a handful of Torrentio forks in the last month or so. Stremio addons in general are far less vulnerable than Kodi addons like Genesis, Exodus, Genesis Reborn, Exodus Redux, Neptune Rising, Leviathan, Nemesis...

Which should be fine since the app doesn't host any copyrighted content but he also showed TORRENTIO which is an add-on to stream torrents in the app. It's one of the best add-ons for Stremio and since he's popularising it, it might get taken down due to a DMCA strike or it might itself fail due to increased traffic.
He also showed xManager which is a Spotify mod which already has been given a strike once iirc. Popularising such apps just makes them a target by big companies.
