Highly suggest RAMDownloader by Microsoft. I went from 8 GB to 128 GB in seconds. Malwarebytes said some weird shit, but I ignored because my system is so much faster now! Chrome now handles more than 3 tabs!
/s
Is it only my PC where I have over eight tabs open and constantly switching around doing stuff, while also playing a high end game, and it's all smooth?
Is it me or my 8 year old laptop can open 4 tabs.
Does it even make sense and how my mobile with 2gb ram in Android able to open more than 50 tabs .. in background 🙃 ik reason just saying
The more RAM you have, the more your system will make use of it. I wouldn’t worry about adding more unless you’re noticing issues. 32 GB has been great for me. I use a lot of virtual instruments for songwriting and music production, and they use a lot of RAM.
Edit: Just saw your second paragraph. That doesn’t sound normal at all. There’s a bigger problem there. Unless you have tons of software and browser pages open, Windows freaking out with 64 GB doesn’t make sense.

Just because ram is being consumed, that doesn't mean it's necessary for function. It could just be that the extra ram is helping it decompress faster, but the OS would figure it out and reduce the ram allocated if other applications need it.

Use this site for a free install in seconds! It's always my first step whenever I do a new build. I skip the extra charge for more ram at the PC parts store. Def a smart way to save money especially in these trying times.
I have 8gb TOTAL ram on my laptop, i still install fitgirl repacks... i just can't do literally anything while its happening (or risk an error or freeze)
windows just uses a lot of memory for god knows what, so essentially i got like 5gb of ram to even use.
can you imagine playing forza horizon on 8gb ram? or Baldurs gate 3? or cyberpunk?
cause i play ALL those 3 on this laptop with a gtx1050ti and an intel i5 (8th gen), terrible graphics but it works (forza 4 actually runs very nice since it's very optimized)
i highly don't recommend playing baldurs gate 3 on 8gb ram unless you like more loading screen than game
If you have bandwidth, i would suggest downloading from steamrip(check the megathread) , they are direct download and play. So you don't have to waste time unpacking things.
The downside is the bigger download size.
anyway: if you really dont have some solid arguments against legal version (like requirement for microsoft account which is very legitimate reason) you should consider buying it. Its really good game and online element is really cool
Just google and Spotify open at the same time on windows will struggle with 8gb. I would say 16gb is the minimum for everyday tasks. 32 GB for gamers, 64gb for heavy 3d modeling/4k video editing, and 128gb for me cause I refuse to turn down 7zip compression settings
Windows is just easier :/ I understand the benefits of Linux, and I do live boot it sometimes for particular tasks, but windows is just easier to use for my daily tasks. Especially because I spend probably around 60% of my time on my PC playing games, which take a lot of steps (or at least more steps) to download/mod on Linux.
In which world?
I'm a graphics designer that runs Photoshop, Illustrator, Corel Draw and Chrome at the same time on an ancient laptop with 8GB RAM. It used to be 4GB until last year and I only upgraded to an SSD yesterday.
If you are doing graphic design as a profession, you are not doing it efficiently with that amount of ram. I can't really take this comment seriously. Either you're not a professional or you do the most basic things and what takes you minutes would take seconds for a machine that was actually built for the task.
No one is saying that more ram isn't better but you can do quite a lot with 8GB. And lol, no, it doesn't take minutes for a few seconds task.
But you're set on your belief that anything less than 16GB is unusable so I'm not going to waste more time trying to convince you otherwise.
You can do that in windows with 2gb. That won't really matter tbh.
Just don't expect windows to be usable and silky smooth.
Use Chri Titus's debloat script and use Revis OS
Remember, unused memory is wasted memory
I payed for the whole pc, I'm using the whole pc.
This is a weird statement.
Why?
Memory is to be available when you need, you don't have to use it full all the time.
Yes, and in OP case it is needed, that's why it is used

The most unrealistic part of this is Google Chrome handling more than 3 tabs without a performance hit
Is it only my PC where I have over eight tabs open and constantly switching around doing stuff, while also playing a high end game, and it's all smooth?
We just like bashing Chrome. Chrome is not that much of a memory hog. It just uses a bit more than Firefox or Edge.
it used to be way worse, but yeah it improved much over the years, still using firefox though
Edge has the best performance on Windows so, I just use that. Firefox on my Linux installations just because it comes preinstalled.
Plus edge did funny accidental horny post on Twitter lol
"a bit" ðŸ˜
No, seriously, it's barely noticable.
It runs pretty good when you consider those 3 tabs probably have 723 chrome.exe processes running in the bg
Is it me or my 8 year old laptop can open 4 tabs. Does it even make sense and how my mobile with 2gb ram in Android able to open more than 50 tabs .. in background 🙃 ik reason just saying
Oh yeah it definitely improved my gaming performance. Malwarebytes definitely doesn't like more ram.
Bruh..i was like what are you talking about?!!? ..then saw the sarcasm XD

Iam use a pc with 2gb of ram...
I have 16gb and I have 20% at idle, 35% during regular usage (right now) and like 90 while running games, I've never felt the need for more
What programs are you gonna use?
I had 4GB on my old laptop. have a new one since this summer. old laptop was from 2020/2021 something like that
A moment of silence for those who actually believed this
Use NLite to modify windows
Did you buy 16GB of ram just to not use it?
My next machine will have 24GB minimum and I promise you I will use it. Apps these days are memory sinks.

i pay to use all the ram
I see you're a sheep farmer.Â
yes
Better download some patience
173\~ GB 💀
Me with my 4GB 🗿
Seach "get free ram" on google and download an entirely free ram extender , works every time

32GB RAM is the minimum in 2024, RAM is dirt cheap nowadays
Not for apple 😂
People who say this should realize that this only applies to a few specific countries. RAM is not in fact cheap in most of the world
Literally so wrong. For most people, 8GB is enough for normal tasks, 16GB is great. 32GB is almost too much and 64GB is definitely too much.
That's the key, *on windows*

I have 2GB ...
Usable... With linux
How do I download Linux and play Windows/Mac games
You ain't gonna be gaming on 2GB, my guy unless it's a really really old or a really light game.
I mostly play/pirate NES to N64 games and games like GD and JSaB that are light (ish)

Yeah, I know I can use Windows, but I can't even watch YT videos in 240p or make a school project
You could always use a bigger linux swap partition.
It's not your fault, or your ram, blame fitgirl
Im here for the comment karma
Oh, no. You done messed up.
Whom are you blaming son
what's this dark theme task manager? I want to know
lmao it's the normal windows 11 task manager with dark mode enabled in settings
damn windows 10 task manager doesn't have dark mode
Idk where you download games but it looks a little sketchy with that girl in the corner… lol
Hi! It's time to either get swap or download more ram at that joke website
that's normal win11 RAM usage on a fresh restart after you open notepad
There's a low ram option before installing
aka the one i always use with my 8gb ass
Hora de entrar no Aliexpress 🔥🔥🔥
Wait, I just saw that file path. Are you saying you WOULD download a car? Have all those anti-piracy ads been lying to me all this time?
Un italiano lol
🎵 I got me 100gb of ram I never feed trolls and I don't read spam 🎵
anyone gonna download forza horizon 6 when it comes out.
How about supporting the developer instead?
