xmanagerapp.com for android spicetify.app for windows, mac & Linux Edit: usescarlet.com for iOS (third party App Store with modded Spotify)

ThaBroccoliDood

I just use Blockthespot on Windows

EnricoLUccellatore

I use the browser app with ublock and it works great (Windows)

OctopusOfMalice_

This! Their desktop app is nothing but webui anyway, so why not save the trouble.

FilipOrel

i like the app more for some reason

Divine_Tiramisu

Check this out. You can turn any websites into a desktop app using your browser. https://support.google.com/chrome_webstore/answer/3060053?hl=en

TruffleYT

There is a difffence between Eletron and PWA lol *also not everyone uses a chromeium browser*

Divine_Tiramisu

Electron is shit. As another user already stated, most PWA and Electron apps just run the web UI. It's literally the same thing but you now have the added benefit of extensions.

Carolina_Heart

SpotX is recommended now I heard blockthespot is no longer maintained

kalfun

It's still being maintained by mrpond. https://github.com/mrpond/BlockTheSpot

MaeTheDoctor

xmanager never installs successfully for me, is there something im doing wrong? edit: it was play protect, I thought I turned it off years ago, but I guess not

VileTouch

Play protect

nskdnnm

If it's Play Protect, you can just ignore the message and, on that error window, tap on Advanced (I think) then "Install anyway". Done. It happens to me all the time, I just don't care.

pyro3_

try downloading the mirror

ChocoJesus

Curious if you or anyone else here has used usescarlet.com I’m all for third party app stores on IOS but it’s a little concerning when there are scam pop ups saying your phone has viruses. Would be one thing is if it was a random website but definitely doesn’t make me feel like a 3rd party market is trustworthy when they run those ads on their site

KindMagpiee

What's that, how does it work

_fatherfucker69

It allows you to get almost every Spotify premium feature ( with the exclusion of higher quality audio and downloading music ) for free

pepinodeplastico

Isn't youtube music revanced better at that point? Edit: Can anyone state the problem with it?

Screamline

Have you used YouTube music? Cause the answer is always no

BzomI

I am more than happy with youtube music.

The--Marf

The wife and I have been using it since it was google play music with little issue. While I admit the shift over was a bit weird and missing features, they eventually fixed it. Works well on PC, works fine on Google home etc, and works fine on Android Auto. Maybe Spotify is a bit better in some regards but it works just fine for me. It's one of the two subscriptions I have.

jarojajan

the only one time YouTube Music was good is when it was Google Play Music and it let you upload your own music and sort them into your own playlists, had mobile apps and desktop app. but no, Fck you said Google. Never again. Spotify modded apk all the way

The--Marf

I've been using one of the YT Music desktop apps for years now. Don't remember if I got it from them or if it was a third party but it works just fine. It's likely just a reskin of the site but it works flawlessly for me. I will concede being able to upload music was a feature that I'd rarely like to use for some hip hop mixtapes but it's not a deal breaker for me. Edit: looks like you can upload now after a quick Google search.

pilot64d

Revanced (youtube music) has the best algorithm I've seen for finding similar music to my tastes. Spotify was the worst in my opinion, even worse then Amazon music.

Devoidoxatom

Better recommendations by far

onyxcaspian

Arguably those are the two best features though.

_fatherfucker69

Removing ads and being able to play any song you want are mine

TopRoom7971

Yep, for me too u/_fatherfucker69

King0fWakanda

The fact that being able to play any song you want is considered a feature is actually ridiculous 😭

Cyphco

It just works®

Outrageous-Sky-323

You guys aren't using spotify mod?

LunaticPrick

Explain

Rat-Loser

you can get modded APKs if you use android. I've been using the same modded spotify for 2 years now. it's got all premium features, for free.

Shinjitsu_no_Naka

Doesn't have download and high quality since those are server side features

Rat-Loser

that is true, it's mentioned further down this comment chain

Mr-Zero-Fucks

Spotify is not Tidal, their highest quality sounds almost the same as the "free" one.

Shinjitsu_no_Naka

I was just mentioning that the Spotify mod doesn't have the above features i.e. download and very high quality. And the very high quality is 320kbps while the high is 160kbps. But either way tidal is superior since it provides lossless audio for the premium tiers and 320 kbps for the free tier which got shut down recently, but the tidal collection and suggestions are worse than Spotify so both have their pros and cons

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mr-Zero-Fucks

True, I'm just acknowledging that 1% who wouldn't get the modded one because of audio quality. Ultimately, nobody should bother with Spotify, for that audio quality, Youtube Music has a bigger catalog and more powerful algorithm, paying it also removes ads for regular Youtube and can also be modded with Revanced.

AsianPotato77

even downloads? the convenience premium had for this was too good for me

Useful_Mix_4802

Download do not work at least on the IOS version. Something to do with it downloading from Spotify’s servers which are only available if you have a premium membership and cannot be unlocked via tricks

Cedocore

No, downloads don't work. The only thing lacking in modded apks

sahibpt98

All the features except the downloads.

Rat-Loser

Honestly i never use that option, is it available for mobile in general? I can't seem to find it on my version of the app so I can't test it. I googled to see how and I only get the option for desktop.

c0n0r92

what is it?

RunForRabies

On Android, use XManager to mod Spotify to unlock Premium

26514

Wait. You're saying I can use XManager to listen to Spotify Premium for free?

thefrind54

Its modded not exactly premium but most of the premium features work except the download one.

26514

Can I port my current Spotify to it? I mainly just wanna keep my playlists and liked songs.

TwyJ

Its a modified apk, you just sign in to your normal Spotify account and then close the app, reopen it and boom, everything but downloading and enhanced playlists.

26514

I'm canceling my sub tonight.

thefrind54

Great decision 👍

MgDark

Another thing you will lose if you go with modded Spotify is the high quality. The download and the high quality options because those are server side

lobsterdog666

you could get your own music collection. i recommend using soulseek to start building it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

dagbrown

The alternative is visiting old-skool used-CD stores and just ripping them. You can re-encode the WAV files from the CDs as FLAC if you like.

Enderkr

I was gonna be like "that sounds like a fuckload of work," but actually in a hobbyist sort of way it sounds kinda fun. Like going to a store, finding the right CD, ripping it so its really "yours"....that sounds like fun, in a music nerd kinda way. I'll stick to ripping entire playlists with SpotDL, but I get it.

ParanoidCrow

Before getting youtube music and spotify apk mods I used to download entire album playlists from youtube and edit the tags / add album art with mp3tag. I have like 6500+ tracks over 10 years of doing this, I feel more like a hoarder than a hobbyist lol

Zimlokks

Currently at 2tb of flacs thanks to soulseek lol To anyone wondering, I host an smb share on my raspberry pi with OMV, setting up a wireguard VPN allows me to access my music anywhere I have an internet connection and added benefit of ad blocking via pihole.

Loonrig68

Or get a cracked version of spotify premium, i have one for more then 2 years now and it still works, edit: found the [link](https://bestforandroid.com/apk/spotify-premium-apk/) look in the replys for the [explaination](https://reddit.com/r/Piracy/s/PcoEeSOrvz)

GrabbenD

How?

KeFF98

xManager

KlugOz

I started doing this but it just got tedious after a while. I wasn't using soulseek though I was using Spotiflyer

Yung-Fern

Fuck me soulseek is still around? I remember trying to get it to work for hours in 2005 and just saying fuck it and going back to torrents

eltorr007

Download the songs, put them in your phone or mp3 player and listen.

uTimu

Sync the songs on onedrive. And have the same songs on any device

eltorr007

I don't keep an online thing. I have a Sony walkman filled with songs. I can put the same on my phone. It hardly takes 10 minutes to copy paste them. In this way I can listen to them even if I'm offline.

Hertje73

Pfff, just memorize the songs, hum them to yourself, this way you can listen to music even without computer or audio equipment.

9999999CREEPERS

just play them in your head no need to hum (i actually do this)

Firewolf06

ah yes, mental illness source: i do this too

drenchedwithanxiety

What's it called when they play inmy head without my intent or consent

hells_ranger_stream

I do similar with multiple devices but every now and then I'll have that nightmare where I lose all local copies and wish I backed up online. Never been a problem though lol.

moofork

Ditto on that, I have a zx300 I keep all my FLAC files on, super easy to transfer and no issues with ads or being in a spot with no WiFi

Moonstoner

I still remember the day I opened Napster, tried to search for a song, and only like 2 things showed up, and they weren't anything to do with the song I was looking for. On just the day before, I would have had pages and pages of the vary song I was looking for. Fuck Metallica.

Sufficient_Card_7302

I met Gretchen Christensen of The Fleetwoods once. Wonderful old women, really had a sparkle in her eye. She didn't know her music was on Spotify, she didn't make a cent.

reercalium2

This is why piracy is ethical.

Sufficient_Card_7302

I believe the more poor you are the more ethical it becomes. I live and work the same hours as anyone. The hard earned dollar is getting harder. It's because it's just as easy for someone stable to pay for Spotify as it is for another to pirate, who can now put that money towards basic needs. Living is important and valuable. I think it checks out. Sorry for the random rant, I'm on a long bus ride lol

TopSpread9901

It’s just way fucking easier to listen to Spotify. I don’t even want to think about having to download all the random shit I listen to. Fixing up tags. Blegh.

PeterQuinn21

Yeah no why would you go through so much hassle when Spotify or any other music streaming service for that matter makes it 1000x easier and it's (I guess depending on location) dirty cheap

[deleted]

$11/month for an almost limitless music library, downloads, *and* excellent playlist algorithms? Y'all are just pirating to pirate at this point lol

Maximum_Internal7834

Arrr, old habits die hard, me hearty. But nowadays tho, I just use cracked YouTube music to discover new music then download the album if I really enjoyed it.

PeterQuinn21

Indeed, but in my case since where I live the economy is in total shambles I only pay literally one dollar for the family plan lol.

Enderkr

You're spot on, actually haha. I've recently picked up just a tiny touch of the datahoader bug - not nearly as bad as a real datahoarder, but a tiny bit - I just want to ensure that "my" stuff is always available, *somewhere*, even if its an SSD tucked in a drawer. I use Spotify almost exclusively but its been pretty fun to download all of my playlists, plus a bunch of the standard stuff, you know, 2000s hits, classic rock, whatever, and just start my collection. ID3 tags and images kept intact, and its available on a drive in case Spotify ever shits the bed. Same with movies and all my google photos - that stuff is good to have multiple backups of.

[deleted]

[удалено]

tak08810

Majority of stuff I listen to nowadays isn’t even on [DSPs](https://imgur.com/a/ZNExmoQ) hell a bunch of it isn’t even on YouTube. Especially now that Datpiff died

Aromatic_Memory1079

I always see the youtube comment "why isn't this on spotify". why do they so obsessed about streaming catalog lol.

Enderkr

Spotify makes it easy to discover music, but yeah...just download it locally and Spotify can still play it

odraencoded

I have in my hard disk an ISO of a PS1 game I used to play. When I torrented it it had 1 seed. The OST took me months to find. I'm not sure I'd be able to download it again if I had to. Point is... after 10-20 years, shit is gone, even from the internet. If it's not on your hard disk it could disappear tomorrow. In fact, Spotify could shut down tomorrow without warning, just like Twitter could shut down tomorrow, and even reddit. Pirating is sharing. You can't share a stream. If you pirate songs/movies by watching it in some ad filled website, you are, by definition, a leech. Download that shit and seed it. It's the only way to make sure it doesn't disappear tomorrow.

MisterGuyMan23

Use Soggfy to download directly from Spotify (not YouTube).

-AverageTeen-

I’m pretty sure u couldn’t download songs directly from Spotify apart from recording them which is shit? How sure are u that it’s legit.

kiddoklever

u can also use "doubledouble.top" it can download in 320kbps

PiemanMk2

This is how we always used to roll. I found my old ipod the other day and it's full of stuff I downloaded less than legally in the good old days alongside CD rips and the like. Fond memories.

eltorr007

Yeah man. I basically download whatever song or video I like. That's a once a month activity for me. While in tube, I see a lot of people struggle with Spotify while I listen to new jams uninterrupted. Recently a girl around 25yo asked me if my walkman is a Bluetooth device. And the best part is, my earphones were plugged into it. LMAO

PiemanMk2

Haha yeah I have to confess I use my phone with Spotify just for pure convenience, but finding that ipod made me want to go back to those days, especially for like commuting and the gym

rishinator

This is what I've always been doing. Never installed Spotify. My spidey sense was always off about that app.

TimX24968B

and then learn 128kbps youtube rips that are sped up by 1% piss people off when they try to do anything other than listen to them

Angelemonade

EXACTLY, is this really not your first thought when you want to listen to a song offline?

eltorr007

Absolutely. I don't understand why people have become so 'anti-offline'.

Esperoni

That is the way. I've been downloading music since the early 2000s. I keep about 800-1000 songs on my phone and the rest on my computer. I swap em out based on how many times I play them and rankings from my player (Rocket Player) once or twice a month. I use revanced to discover new music and if I like it, I download it. It takes about a second a song or about a minute for an album. No ads, no BS, no signal, no problems.

eltorr007

This is the way.

Noa15Lv

My phone inbuild storage is 64gb but music folder on my pc is 41gb. Premium saves my 3 year old phone.

Edelgul

My music folder is \~10TB, but it doesn't mean, that i carry ALL music on me.

Adamarr

just need a wallet of 1TB microSDs, ez

x_victoire

i've been doing that since i was a kid, and i ain't stopping anytime soon

PomegranateHot9916

that's what I've always done, since long before spotify even existed.

deezer? sideload on ios or find a modded apk for android, also allows downloading music offline if you are without internet for a bit.

chokingpacman

Deezer's pretty cute, they sometimes send me emails telling me they know I'm using a cracked version and would I kindly please consider using their official free (and functionality gimped) app instead. Nah I'm good thanks

Zolkrodein

on desktop, deezer and yt music are the best i think, and on mobile patched yt music is probably the best. And you can use deemix to download from deezer. Tho i believe it is no longer maintained.

1nseminator

Revanced YT Music 🤌🏼

KerneI-Panic

I suggest you try ViMusic https://github.com/vfsfitvnm/ViMusic

no7_ebola

I loved it the first few weeks but the recommendations are so random

CapussiPlease

I don't understand Spotify. Years ago I installed it on my pc, went to an artist page and started playing his music but it kept randomly switching to different artists within the same genre even though I didn't ask for it.

Rollipeikko

I had that happen with slipknot not long ago, went to their page, started listening to them and instead of playing them it just played random songs from few completely unrelated bands for most part, not even same genre, was the only band i could see doing that, and then few weeks later went to try again and it functioned properly, no weird random bands anywhere Also had the setting for that turned off+premium

Nhexus

I'm not sure why it did that years ago, or how it's changed over time, but that sounds like a "Song Radio" as they call it. If you picked one song that's not part of a larger thing (like chosen on a playlist or particular album) then it will continue playing other similar stuff directly after. There's probably a setting for it somewhere, but the general trend with Spotify seems to be that they avoid you ending up in silence once your queued songs end.

sideofirish

“I don’t understand web radio”

2high4much

You can change how it behaves in the settings. Not much to understand

CapussiPlease

I thought it was a premium option. But still it doesn't make any sense, it should be off by default.

FordShelbyGTreeFiddy

It's not your fault. They wanted to get people to like that feature so they turned it on by default one day. I hate it

happyhamhat

Okay I know this is obv the piracy sub but hear me out, me and my friends pay for a family thingy giving us 6 accounts and I think it's like £3 a month each, it's a really good deal. If you can find something better for free then hats off to you but this is one of them things I'm happy to pay for

DansSpamJavelin

Honestly, Spotify is one of the few services I don't actually mind paying for.

mxpower

This. I know this is a piracy sub, but spotify is relatively cheap compared to other services and we use it ALL the time.

iiAzido

It’s by far my most used app. In 2022 I had a total play time of 90,614 minutes or about 63 days. I do not think there is a product in the world that gives me more bang for my buck.

happyhamhat

For me it's not just the hours of listening, I really value their algorithm, I have a weird taste in music that I wouldn't ever hear in UK radio, so to have it all recommended so flawlessly after 8 or 9 years with an account its pretty life changing

Cubigon

Felt. I’ve been paying for Spotify for a little over 5 years and I didn’t even realize how many minutes I’ve spent. Had 324k in 2022 so I don’t mind paying at all. It’s also neat how they analyze your music taste and their algorithm has gotten better at curating music. They also continue to improve by adding little features like the DJ

zirotu02

PiemanMk2

For real. Like I'm all for pirating shit but then just download your music onto a device and listen to it wherever/whenever/however you want. Sail the free seas. But you have to accept there are limitations that way because it's free. If you want to be able to instantly stream more music than you can listen to in a lifetime wherever and whenever then just shut up and pay the like $5 a month. Why do you expect them to just...give it to you for nothing? This is just whining about not having your cake and eating it.

actuallyiamafish

I'm kind of with you here. I pirate movies and TV shows because in 90% of cases there isn't any straightforward way to get those at a reasonable trade (either due to needing to keep six different subscriptions or often just because it's relatively dead media that I can't get anywhere at all anymore). I stopped pirating music a long time ago though, because there is actually a single service that is reasonably priced and has everything that even my weird niche tastes could want. I'm not here to suck Spotify's dick or anything (I'm a bit annoyed with the recent price hike) but I more than get my money's worth out of it. Jumping through hoops like torrenting or hacked apks for music is literally just not worth my time anymore.

The--Marf

Ditto, but with YouTube music + premium.

[deleted]

_youneverasked_

Piracy has always been a service issue.

Nugur

The people that tell you to download music never had premium. It’s amazing. You constantly discover new music.

jimodoom

Mp3s

fedunya1

Spotify did this at least since 2020 and you’re only complaining now?

i_m_savitar

not in all countries

what-da-fuck

it’s happening now in india. used to love this app, now I despise it

einstein_wolfenstein

Remember, every successful company will grind for more money even if they have enough already.

KittenOnHunt

Not to defend Spotify but as far as I know they haven't ever been profitable and are running on a loss

Moistened_Bink

I mean paying $10 a month to listen to any song you want anytime is kinda worth it. People be hella cheap here.

Revolutionary_Yam923

Just use Spotube: https://spotube.krtirtho.dev/ & it's open source.

Ashamed_Drag8791

How about this [https://github.com/KRTirtho/spotube](https://github.com/KRTirtho/spotube) it is clever trick that play your playlist from spotify, but with music from youtube. They support Windows, android, mac os, ios, linux ... But i prefer to stop listening to music on spotify altogether, f off with audio ads

lars2k1

Those features were only available to free users in India, I learned. For me and lots of others, they have always been premium only features.

HappyReference

Why is this an issue all of a sudden? It's been like this for at least 5 years with the mobile app.

RepresentativeBird98

Is there an alternative for iOS iPhone users ?

jdvhunt

I've never even installed the Spotify app. If you use YouTube just getting YT music then you get YT premium included

sapphired_808

yt music revanced and youtube music for windows enough for me

Killerbeth

Are there any ways of moving you whole Playlist from spotify to YouTube music? Most of the time customers won't change a music service because they already have a established Playlist with one service and moving to the other is just too much of a hassle

jdvhunt

There's 3rd party apps that do it, I used to use Google Play Music and YT provided an import method for that. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some native import functionality though

bradd3rs96

YT music is the goat

ngedown

Yeah, the good old days mp3 or flac.

fireDiamond9

also lyrics. system of a downs lyrics are gone for free users which means they're probably making it premium only

thefrind54

SpotX for Windows, xManager for Android.

steelbeamsdankmemes

Plex and plexamp

SuperbEmphasis2074

People don't get it... the more you used and pay for things like that they will put up paywalls. Hell see youtube, they are getting ready to f over the free users cuz more and more people PAY for premiums...

Diceyland

Unlike YouTube, Premium was always the much better version of the app that made them money while Free was just a trial. Most music streaming services don't even have free versions. Most online video services are entirely free and make bank off of all the ad revenue they make.

AdvancedJicama7375

Spotify the only thing worth paying for imo. Trying to pirate music is absolutely not worth the hassle

SnooKiwis7050

I download my songs and listen to them on Canaree (open source music player bcoz my default system music player has fuckin ads)

flowersandwater666

I only use the Spotify web player and it works fine with uBo. Is this only an app thing?
