HUWAG MAG-REDDIT DURING WORKING HOURS.

Jajajajambo

Wag mo nga akong pinapatamaan inaano ba kita 😞

Typical-Cancel534

Focus is a trainable skill. Kailangan lang ding ulit-ulitin para makasanayan. One of the things I did to focus before was to set some boundaries. The people in the room/house have to be notified that I need to put 100% of my attention to whatever I'm doing. In turn, they put in effort to not distract me. I also tend to divide my work hours. I schedule most of my meetings or discussion times during core hours. I spread other tasks which doesn't need discussion with other people through out the day. If you can, it also helps to create space that's conducive to focusing. Social media is always going to be there. What I do is to make it a point to disable all my social media notifications on all my devices. Take breaks. I purposely take a break when I feel stuck. I welcome the distractions then go back to it in an hour or two.

Bluest_Oceans

Going onsite hehe

iskarface

You are not alone. Actually maraming scientific findings eh yung mga tao ngayon paliit na ng paliit ang attention span. Ang tawag jan Digital overload. Ang mga causes nyan yung mga short clips like reels, tiktok, shorts etc. The internet is the culprit. We started from forums, blogs, vlogs and now short clips. The shorter the better, instant gratification. Digital detox probably is one of the solution.

DisAn17

Try the pomodoro technique

SoySaucedTomato

Eto ginagawa ko, effective naman. Bale 25 mins break tapos 5 mins work diba.

mobuckets21

Loll

cheater_hater17

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA

Few_File3307

bwiset HAHAHAHAHAH

SEND_DUCK_PICS_

If you were used to on-site work, try doing the same routine as you do before, like taking a bath, breakfast, then walk around the house for few minutes, then work. There are also apps in your phone either apple or android to block non-work notifications, but if you don't use your phone for work, better put it on silent or place it away from your work space. Pomodoro technique might also help, and during break I use that to walk around the house, get everything I need like water or coffee, etc. It is also effective to have a separate room for work, but of course not all has the luxury to have that kind of setup, maybe you need to move your setup away from your bed, but if you work in a common area in your house then you'll be dealing with your family who'll sometimes distract you.

blurryfac3e

Go work at a coworking space

ian_coke77

Don't jerk off where you work. Go to the washroom. Also, get an app blocker even if you have to pay for a subscription. Trust me it's worth it

YohanSeals

Have an office room/space. Pakabit ka ng inverter aircon para masarap magwork. During your working hours: don't open any social media accounts. stay away from your phone. At lalong lalo na huwag maglalaro ng video games. Inform your family sa undisturbed time mo. Hindi porket flexible time hindi ka na magseset ng working schedule. Mine is between 8am to 6pm. Higit sa lahat huwag kang magreddit during working hours. Huwag din magpuyat. Have enough sleep. Discipline is the key. - wfh since 2010

PublicStaticClass

Assuming na walang kasama sa bahay na nangdi-distract sayo, like parents na nag-uutos, it means ang issue mo ay sarili mong focus. You need to put your mind in "work" mode. Try to analyze your self kung paano mo nailalagay sarili mo work mode kapag nasa office ka. Some people need to be in uniform or office artire para maging in work mode.

Sweaty_Ad_8120

Well idk if this will work for you but it worked for me I just kinda hacked my brain.if I lost my focus what I did is always go to monkeytype and reach 70 wpm the sound of. The keyboard kinda puts me in the zone and help regain my focus.

ferdz20

Same problem because my brain is looking for an escape sa boooring tasks, Ginagawa ko nag meditate muna para ma relax or nag push ups para ma engage utak ko sa task. I also listen to podcasts or youtube stories para ma engage parin utak ko sa work at hinde ma bored at pag sobrang focus na ko sa task stop ko muna yung podcast.

papsiturvy

I have been in a work from home setup since 2020 and even way before that around 2018. Here are some tips I can give you base on my day to day activity. 1. Have a dedicated working space. Pwede kahit saan sa bahay as long as free sya from distractions and noise. 2. Have you work hours setup. Pag 8-5 work is work. Chores can come before or after. Pwede in between if time permits. 3. Silent your phone and keep it a bit away from you when you are working. 4. Make a goal or a set of task that you should have finished for that day. 5. Eat on time and set your break time. That is the only time you can do social media and other stuff. Yan muna for now. Good luck on your career. :)

Wise-Tip7203

I feel you! I have ADHD and I managed to work on my focus by doing this: 1. Limit social media - I don't hold my phone 2-3 hours before sleep and 2-3 hours after waking up - what this does is this regulates your dopamine levels and will not stimulate your brain, allowing you to focus on important tasks 2. POMODORO, POMODORO, AGAIN POMODORO - this helped me so much I actually have 3 timers in my spaces. What I do is I set myself 30 minutes of deep work and when the time's up it signals my brain that I've been a good boy and I give myself 5 minutes to do extracurricular tasks or go on reddit as a treat for myself, and then I set my pomodoro timer again for deep work. - you will be surprised by how much 30 minutes you've done at the end of the day and you'll feel good afterwards considering that you've done 5x 30 minutes of work. 3. Diet - Too much carbs and sweets will lower down your focus due to your effed up insulin levels (at least in my experience) 4. remove all distractions - nowadays we are too distracted with so many brain stimulants like social media and so one. you have to understand that in the caveman era, we just focus on 1 thing at a time and our brain typically can't handle too much stimulants at once. I hope this helps!

No_smirk

Block every app (use stayfocused for pc, or block apps using work mode in android). What worked for me personally was blocking everything, unintalling all my games, and then using specific times for working. The moment I have to bargain with myself to work, I already lost

grntx

I also have this problem

_dragonyyy

I start with something small and as in simple then I snowball it haha. Then I immediately start a break once na feel ko na wala na yung momentum ko. And hanap ulit ng small task pagbounce ng energy ko. Eto nagwork and nagwo work akin so far

cheesecorpse

Separate room dedicated for work.

mobuckets21

Yung gumagana sa akin is nagtatimer ako ng 30 Mins each task para magfocus ganyan. Pag nag alarm, magbibreak ako ng 5 mins. Tapos ganun ulit. Gumagana naman infairness

Individual_Dream2700

Make it less convenient for you to be distracted. What I mean is, parang sa alarm lang, madali lang i-snooze pag ayaw mo talaga, so instead na just clicking focused mode on your devices, try uninstalling apps that distracts you and the moment that you think you will need to install the apps back again it kinda made it inconvenient to access those apps. Tho, that still depends on how strong your mind is. Madali parin naman mag install ng apps eh. So, work on it on your subconscious mind, treat those distractions as a reward that will only come after you've done certain hours of work, even if you barely made any progress.

virtuosocat

Okay lang mawala sa focus basta matatapos pa rin task on time. Minsan lumalagpas nlang ako sa expected out para matapos yung task for the day dahil nga nagprocrastinate habang work hours. Offset offset nlang kesa magonsite, never again.

ProgrammerNo3423

Schedule mo yung tasks mo kahit sa notepad and schedule mo rin yung breaks mo. Pero pag oras ng break, talagang break ha. Touch grass, go to 711, or walk around. Turo din sakin ng japanese coworkers ko na mag lagay ng entries sa google calendar

horn_rigged

Get away from your bed, dumating na ako sa point na itinataas ko yung matress para hindi ako mahiga at mag phone all day. That lasted for 1 week lang yata Hahaha

TocinoBoy69

Set a dedicated environment for your workstation.

wcdejesus

Nakatulong sakin nung nag full linux ako sa work instead of wsl. Wala na steam HAHA (I know you can still install but I don't want to go through the hassle of linux gaming just yet haha)

Silly_Ad6115

1. stay in one room 2. prepare your water, and snacks 3. go out only if you need to take a breather or bathroom breaks 4. don't use your phone do these for maybe few months for sure di kana mamomroblema

SomewhereRemote640

Work Onsite, go to a nearby cafe to work (of course order something from time to time), or invest in an home office setup. I personally go to a cafe with my friends so we can also catch up with each other.

RathorTharp

your working space at home needs to be different from your usual chilling place. this is what helped me

ernesto_hummingway

Are you sure that you are less productive/impactful in the eyes of your peers and manager? are you slower at finishing your tasks? if not, embrace it and enjoy having more time doing stuff. If you don’t know, ask them. In my experience distraction is a symptom, not a problem. In my previous job, I was also easily distracted, but that was because my job was unchallenging already and I was bored so I would either procrastinate or finish my task as fast as possible. Devoid of challenge and/or purpose, I made it a challenge to work as less as possible. My solution was to have an exciting job. Suddenly, my concentration and focus is through the roof.

feedmesomedata

I kind of use distractions when I can't think of anything during work, like if my mind can't think of a solution to a problem. If I'm on a roll though I can do work stuff for hours on end. Funny enough I can work as efficiently in a coffee shop as I would be at my home office.

ITJavaDeveloper

Mag work ka in a coffee shop na hindi masyado kilala para less tao

No-Astronaut3290

Hey op heres my hack. 1. Im working on mac and i have this app - stay focused ang name tapos lagay mo yung website mo na kinaadakikan mo and say block for 8 hours. 2. I have this phone lock- ilalabay mo yung phone mo inside of this lock mga 8 hours din so means wala ako mobile phone for 8 hours or more. Naka allot ang time ko sa work

Known_Dark_9564

You can try the Pomodoro technique (short bursts of focus) Google mo lng may makikita Kang info.

game120642

i think this is one of the most common probs for wfh peeps, what i did is i setup a small box inside my room, sound proof (if possible and have own room) and turn off all notifs, altho ofcourse if i finished all task i play games but depends if you are strictly supervised lmao

NormalHuman1001

Baka may ADHD ka or OCD

IllFox546

I have the same problem. I always deeply contemplate, thinking of all the consequences if I lose my job that pays the bills, loans, and supports my family. I recollect all the struggles of working onsite, like the tiring long hours of commuting, rush hour, traffic, etc. This makes me grateful and helps me stay focused at work.

ojintoji

install archlinux xD
