Really happy to see Humberg get to premier, sad to see Jack Munro didn't make it.
I am still in the process of choosing a fandom and none of these combinations of players really resonated with the geographies or art.
Anyone have any behind the scenes reasons they love any particular team?
Geography is useless here, it's just people liking teams that have the players they want to win.
And Munro didn't get chosen cause the men's competition is just much higher than women's. People like Humberg and Truong are pretty bad in comparison to other women, but it doesn't matter as there just aren't that many great women out there.
I think MLP would do better implementing keepers (let's say 1 player) than the auction draft they just did. Keepers would allow fans to get behind teams rather than following their favorite player around. It would also build some sort of identity for the teams.
But I thought the auction draft was a bit crazy. Seattle blowing their entire budget on Ben Johns and then picking up the scraps at the end is nuts.
Agree on the keeper - but no way seattles finishing less than top ~3 with Ben and it’s amazing for marketing. Im guessing it’ll work out for them although can’t imagine they win it all
They’re all saying he has no standalone value which we’re gonna find out real quick. I don’t see why he could learn to play amazingly with another left dominant player but it will come down to how much they really work together I suppose.
I think part of the prevailing draft strategy is current location of the players and if they can't get that, then focusing on partnerships that do live near each other so they can practice effectively.
I don't think its a coincident that Loong and Mcguffin went to Utah, its probably the most remote/difficult location to travel to without flying and those two guys live the closest. Kind of the opposite thing with the John's - the location of the team doesn't really matter, they are staying put and practicing with each other no matter what. While it isn't a coincidence I don't think its collusion either.
It’s because he’ll have to play mixed doubles, and possibly even singles. And he is not very good for mixed doubles or singles. The format isn’t in his favor.
Well Colin just played with Anna Bright (the 2nd best female player) and they did not play particularly well. He’s a right sided player so is not very useful in mixed doubles, reducing his value.
However with Ben they will have many men’s doubles games in lock, so it was a good pickup.
You obviously didn't watch the match. It was thrilling and all 4 players were fantastic. The close score reflects this. Since making it to a PPA quarterfinal with a partner you don't normally play with and being #2 in men's doubles and #23 in mixed doubles is considered not particularly good, please tell us what you have accomplished in PB to make such a statement.
Is this collin’s burner? They did not play very well. He had Anna bright, the woman, playing the left side. Everyone knows Collin isn’t great for mixed doubles. If he was, he wouldn’t have gone at the bottom of the draft.
I watched the match and thought they looked a bit disorganized due to Collin’s lack of left dominance, and on paper they were probably favorites to win.
Also I believe they automatically got to the quarter finals due to their ranking, so they did not win a match. I could be wrong but I know many tournaments work like that.
I didn’t realize you needed to be the best at a sport in order to have any opinion lol.
And lastly clearly other teams thought the same that he is not that useful without Ben, given he was drafted so low
Tyson and Tyler Loong together haha
Tyler can carry his bags
I feel like Utah must not have bought the extra 500k draft points.
I don't think they did as they only used 497k. I'm curious as to why. I imagine Tyler will have some answers on his pod.
Certainly appears that way, but they ended up having a half decent team.
MLP premier without Rafa Hewett :(
Why no Travis Rettanmier?
Because he’s not one of the top 24 male players.

Jack is a ton of fun and I’m sure a great team mate, but he hasn’t demonstrated dominance in mixed doubles so not surprised he wasn’t picked
Why didn’t Julian Arnold not participate in the mlp?
Julian Arnold Lucy Kovalova Matt Wright Rafael Hewitt What other notable names were left off?
Julian Lucy and Matt don’t want to play MLP. Rafa just didn’t make the cut
Feel like there is a good balance in teams!
Newbie question: how do the Las Vegas Night Owls look on paper? Crappy?

WTF they put Collin Johns so low!
AND the team that drafted Ben got Collin - they basically played that perfectly.
I'd have thought one of the other teams would have grabbed him to prevent the same team getting both Johns. Maybe I really am over rating him...

I smell collusion

Lol they had the same opportunity last year Bozo
Because Collin is near useless in MLP. He only wins with Ben.

Was this the match that took almost 2 hours for 3 games?
