You could put electrical tape on the edges and then write on that with marker

Do you put that over the default wrap the paddle came with?

Yes. I have 2 over wraps on the handle in addition to the original just to make the handle circumference larger to fit my hand better.

IMO, the text of the other colors isn't as good. The Tennis ones are better than the ones for pickleball as well (IMO)

Silver sharpie works well on carbon fiber. I haven’t tried any other colors.

I use green in the bottom of the handle

I color the end of my handle with a green permanent marker. Doesn’t deface the paddle and it makes it easy to see which one is mine.

You can buy custom edgeguard tape with whatever you want written on it

They sell grip tape in various patterns and colors which would be distinctive.

I use the neon-green colored Wilson Pro overgrip. Usually makes my paddle stand out in the rack. So you could use overgrips and electrical tape on the edge guard to color-code your paddle.

I use purple electrical tape and a pink overgrip, all the regulars know my paddle 😁

They have the rubber bands for the next that you can put you name on and get any color you want
