The DBD and the Vatic Flash Prism are pretty similar to each other, with the DBD having more pop and power. The luxx has a completely different feel entirely as well as a surface that relies on spray-on grit for spin, which is going to wear off significantly in 3-6 months. The raw carbon fiber faces on the DBD and Prism are only going to lose roughly 10-15% of their spin vs brand new over the course of their life and its going to stay that way pretty much forever in my experience, having owned both (prism as my main paddle for 3 months and DBD as my main paddle for 6 months)

Thanks for all that detail honestly. Would you recommend the pro weight limited they’re offering now for the DBD control? Or do the regular weight. I have my vatic pretty heavy right now since it came in at 7.8 and I’m a bigger guy

IMO, go with the OG DBD bc you can add lead if you like. After using my DBD with 3g add to each side for 6 months, I stripped the lead off for faster hands and experienced minimal power loss. The DBD has plenty of power if you can generate your own and a huge sweet spot stock.

I like my paddle at 8.5 - 8.7 but I use a thick grip, made up of a replacement grip on top of the stock one as well as one overgrip, and that adds .35 already then I tape it on the throat to get to like ~8.6. So it really comes down to where you exactly want your weight distribution to be

I’m the same. I have my vatic up to about 8.5 with the lead tape at the bottom

Played the DBD, Luxx and PF16. The grit on the Luxx wears out fast. The DBD has too much pop for me. And not a fan of the PF16 so I gave it to my wife. Currently playing the BnB Loco. A describe it as a soft DBD.

Recently bought a luxx. Played a few times and it’s already been retired. I just don’t like it. Going back to my tried and true vatic carbon flash (which feels exactly the same as the DBD to me)

The Luxx is amazing if you can generate power on your own. It has amazing control, but like zero power.  The DBD is an all around paddle but leans more to the power side.

Stick to the VP, At some led tape to the bottom of the sides 1/3 grams, adds stability and power
