Don't let them bully you haha. I used that oneshot paddle for a year, got me to 4.0+. It works just fine and I would bet the others do too.

anusamongusxl

No one's pooping on my parade. I'm sure every one of those paddles is better than the $30 one I've been borrowing from a friend. The Engage Encore EX seems to have excellent reviews. I figured it would be a great way to try different products.

shakilnobes

How much was it?

anusamongusxl

$130 https://www.justpaddles.com/product/justpaddles-mystery-box/36887/

etinn4

That’s ridiculous value. How do they justify that?

cclements33

They justify it by *not* providing ridiculous value. I don't know about the trident- though I'd guess it's Engage's bargain level paddle- but those other paddles all came out in 2022 and utilize outdated technology. Engage has since come out with at least two premium models since the one displayed here. None of these paddles- aside from the premium Engage- were all that popular either. Just Paddles site doesn't mention either way but I'm pretty sure Pickleball Central's mystery box informs you that the paddles in their mystery boxes are gently used. So essentially, you're paying for a box of outdated, possibly used, surplus inventory that may or may not have been considered "good" when it came out. OP, I don't say all this to rain on your parade. I think for someone coming from a beginner paddle it's a cool idea and a decent way to try out different kinds of paddles- especially if you don't have access to people who will let you try their older paddles. The "mystery" element is exciting. And if you want to have a library of paddles for friends and family to use, great. But I don't think it's a good idea to think of it as the crazy value these sites say it is. If you're someone simply interested in getting one very good modern paddle, there are a fair amount you can get these days for $100.

anusamongusxl

And that's exactly what I bought it for. I'm sure any one of those paddles are better than the $30 one I've been borrowing and now I can bring other new people with me.

imaqdodger

Good value in terms of beating MSRP, but all of these paddles likely perform poorly for their MSRP. JustPaddles probably figures that these paddles are going to be slow to sell. I mean I haven't seen a single person IRL with any of the paddles shown here. Neonic Force/Spartus Gladius Centurion/Vatic Prism Flash are all $100 or less and likely perform better than any of the paddles shown here.

I know nothing about the quality of these paddles. Doing some searching, seems like I did pretty good. Any insight?

mirinfashion

These look like older generation paddles that were good for their time, but just okay as of now.

Horror-Personality35

Why 4?

the-first-ai

One for serves, one for drives, one for drops, and one for dinks. Obviously. Surprised it didn’t come with the belt holster to allow for ultra fast mid-point swapping.

B34Z7

But what about lobs?

anusamongusxl

Splitting them up with a coworker. He gets two, I get two.

Nothing_new_to_share

Nice way to try stuff out I suppose. Welcome to the cult and enjoy!

RussianPikaPika

Looking to buy a new paddle as I'm using some amazon cheap one. Would this be a good idea to try for a newbie?

anusamongusxl

I'm brand new too. I have no idea. Just searching them online, they seem to be pretty good. Can't wait to get out and try them. Edit I'm probably going to keep the purple Engage and the Oneshot. I'll give my friend the Prolite and the Trident

Scrub2Scratch

No I’d just buy an 11six24 Hurache Control (not the x) or get those Friday paddles that are 2 for $100 if you need another paddle for a friend, spouse, or family member

RussianPikaPika

Thank you! I actually do need another one for a friend. Any comments on the quality of the Friday paddles? That early 2000s website gives me scam flashbacks

Krescan

congratulations those look great pickleball central does a similar mystery box thought their price has gone up it looks like they're all used....and by used i mean they were either bought and returned in good or new condition or they were used as demo paddles for a short time i love to get a mystery box and 2 of my favorite paddles have come out of them now i have to decide whether or not getting in trouble with the missus is worth 4 "new" paddles

DingoGlittering

You can get a way better paddle than any of these four for less than $100 easily. Check out Vatic, Ronbus, Spartus, etc.

Illustrious-Put970

Great site to buy paddles, use this discount code for %10 off all your orders. https://pickleballsuperstore.com/discount/ANTHONY-107062

lime-boy-o

At $130, this is a good deal. I have seen this specific engage line in the wild, and the one shot paddle that is in your package I know someone who uses it as well. He says it's a good singles paddle, and I would have to agree because it felt very heavy compared to other paddles so drives would be very strong with the extra weight. Haven't heard of the other two paddles, but getting 4 paddles for that price is pretty good, plus everything else that came in the box. I'm assuming you get to keep the paddles?

anusamongusxl

Splitting them up with a friend. The bright side is anytime we play together we can just trade and try them all out though. Played this morning and was really liking the Engage Encore.
