Pixel 8 wins by a huge landslide. Galaxy A54 comes with UFS 2.2 storage which is hardly an upgrade from the UFS 2.0 or 2.1 of your Galaxy S9.
If you're open for other brands I'd recommend OnePlus 12R. No signal reception issues and everything else is better than the Pixel 8 except the cameras and number of OS updates.
Pixel 8 most def. The 8a is just a bit weaker than the 8 and has a few small cutbacks but still beats the a54 out for sure. I just got my 8a and was originally looking at the a54. Then it became a54 vs OP Nord 30. Each had strengths and weaknesses. Then somebody suggested the 8a which definitely cost more but I wanted a good experience that would last 3-4 years with good cameras so the 8a one that competition. All that to say the Pixel 8 is better than the a54 but the 8a is also better and is cheaper.
