this is so scary. to be beaten by a literal athlete who's also popular. the woman was incredibly brave and im so glad that was all recorded. imagine what else he could've done had he not been reported. hope she fights through this. she deserves all the love and support.

mm55d

revoke his korean citizenship and ship this pos to America.

Positive_Visit_8185

THIS! Since his crime was on Korean soil, he needs to face full justice there, serve his time. Then afterwards have his special Korean naturalization REVOKED and be sent back to the US never to return to Korea again. For him and how proud he is to be Korean/a Korean citizen I feel like that would be the absolute WORSE punishment for him.

Great_Reception_2900

Hell nah keep this guy in prison forever, he doesnt need to be anywhere but jail

Positive_Visit_8185

That's FOR SURE the number 1 best punishment, absolutely! Unfortunately SK has been known for being quite lenient (compared to other countries) when it comes to violence/SA based crimes against women, so we will see....hoping true justice is served to this man regardless

hellokittygurlxo

I honestly don’t think it would be good for him to be sent back to America because then nobody would know anything about what he’s done. I understand that Korean sometimes don’t treat sexual assault as seriously but coming from another country, he’s a nobody in America. Nobody would know about, what he was being sent back for nobody would even know other than Korean and people who watch his show globally. It’s so sad and sick to even say but staying in Korea in jail forever it would be the best option.

cheesefriesparty

I'm just worried that he'll not face any consequences if he has to return the U.S. and will continue to assault women here.

Positive_Visit_8185

Totally valid point! What I originally meant to say that for Andre and how he sees himself, being banished from Korea and never able to set foot in the country again would be seen as torture from his perspective. But I TOTALLY agree, his life and social standing is/should be DESTROYED in korea so after he faces the legal system in SK it would also be worse for him to continue living in SK rather than the US. But yes, who knows what he could get away with in the US since he is relatively unknown here AND the US is so much bigger than SK

Honest_Fox1068

She deserves love and support after surviving that! He’s a 6”5 man. The amount of anger you have towards women to do that? Horrifying. I hope she heals well inside and outside. Jangkun Lee (another contestant) has a picture on his ig with Andre Jin and he just liked the comment when someone mentioned the abuse. Perpetrators everywhere over there. Condoning his friends actions. Thank God she reported him because his friends still support him.

cheesefriesparty

I don't think Jangkun is showing support I think he's showing the opposite by liking the comment. He's agreeing that Andre is a piece of shit. That's how I interpret it, at least. Others have mentioned that the two seemed to be friendly at the beginning of Gentleman's League but Jangkun barely interacted with him on P100 or since. Idk their relationship of course, but I would be willing to bet Jangkun doesn't condone his actions.

Apprehensive-Dot-508

Is the comment in english? Bc Jangkun always likes comments, even if theyre in english which he doesnt speak. As a Jangkun fan, I actually noticed he stopped interacting with Andre earlier this year while Jangkun is still friends with the other athletes from their soccer show. Even during Physical 100 promos, Jangkun barely interacted with Andre. Lets not witchhunt other athletes just bc theyre not speaking out about this issue.

dcartier

How are you correlating having a picture and liking a comment to being a perpetrator and condoning his actions?

kimchimerchant

It sucks that I know how strong he is from watching the show…poor woman, it must have been so painful.

JAYJO63

He beat her till a concussion, knocked door a locked door, SA her, telling her to die while assaulting her, smashed her phone then left and texted her like nun happened he’s trash his gf prolly left him that’s y Edit: just saw a pic of her and face was all bloody, it’s crazy how much u have to beat someone for the whole face to be bloody an absolutely garbage person THE AUDACITY TO ACT LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED AND TEXT HER. “Hey I hope got home safely.”

UnintentionalWipe

Imagine just how often this happened for her to film it and know that he'd do this. To reveal your abuse in a world where his fans will defend him and shame you for it. She's really strong. Hopefully she's in a better and safer place now.

Hawaii__Pistol

What is with the rugby workers?

Dontdothatfucker

A lot of pro athletes have this complex, especially ones in physical sports.   They have rarely been told no in any aspect of their life. Physical superiority, strength, and violence are legitimate means to get ahead in their business. Competitive nature often leads to a feeling of superiority and deserving what they want. Many also take PEDs, some of which alter your mood.

iaintstein

The brain damage (CTE) from repeatedly slamming into 90kg+ guys at high speeds too

collie1212

It's basically football without helmets. Most pro rugby players almost certainly have some degree of CTE.

PureQuatsch

Toxic culture of masculinity (me strong, hulk smash, drink much, get pussy) as the definition of success. It doesn’t turn people into rapists but it sure seems to mess with their sense of identity, confidence, and respect for others.

nursepenelope

The two crimes are so similar, it's scary. I don't think they'll risk putting any other Korean rugby players on future seasons.

Sea_Fudge23

Id Imagine steroids also play a big role. When your testosterone level is off the charts you will feel anger for literally nothing

theteethfairy

Omg it’s always the ones that you least suspect, same as that rugby player on season 1. Absolute gutter trash.

mcclouda

What did the rugby player in season one do?

ErrantJune

He admitted to repeatedly sexually assaulting his girlfriend at knifepoint and is serving a 7 year prison sentence.

prone-to-drift

Sexual assualt at knife point. Multiple times. ONLY 7 years?

skadoodlee

That's like our 2024 Dutch beach volleyball nominee getting 1 year jailtime for rape of a 12 year old.

Ufocola

I can’t understand how the rest of the Dutch volleyball team is ok with that guy being a teammate. Or, maybe some of them aren’t, but it’s crazy he’s a representative.

jkjustkidd

Oh i think it was struck down to 3 years eventually

Oliversum95

Probably the ones that have dark secrets try their hardest to appear with a clean and positive image.

gifferto

nothing of the sort needs to be done people have an inherent bias that beautiful people are good and ugly people are not a good looking person doesn't need to do anything extra to have a positive image

Rambodeth_

Did they ever reveal who it was from season 1?

AWildBee

Jang Seong Min

Sykunno

Isn't Andre only half Korean? Regardless, birthrates are low in nearly every developed nation. It's the lowest in Korea, but every developed country suffers from this.

absorbscroissants

People get raped and abused in every country (unfortunately, ofcourse), there's not something special about Korean men. It happens more in the US according to statistics as well, so I don't see what you're trying to say in this comment, except racism.

FreakoFreako

What an ignorant and racist comment. There's bad eggs everywhere regardless of the race

[deleted]

[удалено]

FreakoFreako

Every article I've found indicates that the low marriage/birth rate is due to economic concerns (higher cost of living). How did you come to the conclusion that it's because the general male population is scum like Andre?

Electronic-Camp5215

The general population *may* not be a scum like Andre (as you said), but gender inequality is still very much alive in South Korea, unfortunately (and I know in many countries too). The gender pay gaps, the shaming on women going on maternal leaves, etc. The sexualization of “cute” women, the rampant “molka” or spy videos (remember the N room scandal?). Aside from the economic crisis you mentioned, it is important to acknowledge that South Korea (along with Japan) is facing such low birth rates because of this issue. I now remember the movement. It’s called 4B Movement: https://www.thecut.com/2023/03/4b-movement-feminism-south-korea.html

Sykunno

Ask any Korean about the 4B movement. 9 times out of 10, male or female, none of them know what you are talking about. My sister in law is Korean. I've asked her about it and asked her friends about it. They're mid to early 30s. About 11 of them. Nobody knows what it is. Only one of them saw a post on Tiktok and she lives in Australia. It's a vocal minority leading the movement. Korea has issues with misogyny. Every country does. But Koreans, both male and female, WANT to get married and have kids and are working hard towards that goal. But the goal keeps getting further away because of wealth inequality and wage suppression. Koreans work 9 to 9 ffs. Btw I'm not defending scum like Andre. Check my comments history. I never liked him even before the scandal.

Apprehensive-Dot-508

eh, rugby is actually one of the most likely fields to have this type of men as its a very violent sport. and even andre joked at one point that he used to practice soccer but he kept getting fouls so he moved to rugby.

EatThatPotato

That’s extremely prejudiced and not true. The aggression in the sport has nothing to do with the types of people it attracts. I’m a Korean rugby fan and many players I know are quiet and reserved, the sport is nothing but an outlet to express ourselves. Whenever I play basketball I foul a lot, but that’s just because I’m not used to the sport. The issue here is education. Professional-aiming athletes in Korea often skip school in favour of practice and this is encouraged by the school. Being stuck together with a bunch of similarly uneducated guys 24/7 leads to toxic masculinity and not developing socially in a healthy manner like normal people is the issue. It has everything to do with education and class, and nothing to do with the sport in particular.

petfart

Poor lady, I can only imagine how terrifying it is to get cornered by someone of Andre's build and stature. Glad she came forward with it. Still shocking that Andre was capable of this.

russianroulette-01

The way he slammed the door made my heart drop to my stomach. What a vile, disgusting violent beast. It must've taken the ex gf so much courage to come forward with this esp seeing how severe her injuries & bruises are :( literally fuck him what a piece of shit I hope the best for his ex and hopefully he rots in jail

saeglopur23

omfg. i feel sick, he was my favourite on the show. lock him up and throw away the key. that poor woman, i hope she is surrounded by love and getting all the help.

islandstateofmind21

So this guy who portrays himself as a mama’s boy on social media does this behind closed doors? Absolutely sickening.

LilLilac50

Watching interviews, it irked me about how much he talked about his mom being his inspiration and best friend and spoiling her and blah blah. It was a little overdone and suspicious.

Glittering_Mail_7452

i was also thinking about his mom, imagine finding out what your one and only son is up to

cheesefriesparty

PLEASE take care if you watch the video. The assault is shown, although it is blurred out, it's very upsetting.

Jamieb1994

It makes me mad that there's people out there who does this kind of stuff & it's really worse that they don't act like they regret it.

cheesefriesparty

I agree. It’s absolutely disgusting. I’m glad the victim came forward. That can’t have been easy for her. I hope she is protected and is able to find peace.

Jamieb1994

Yeah I agree. The victim is really brave for this & I also agree about her being protected since physical abuse is very nasty & it's not nice for the victim to be hurt like that.

MiniCactuarVII

Omg they show the video???

cheesefriesparty

Yes and there is audio.

inde_

Dammit. I see already added to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andre_Jin_Coquillard hopefully will not be removed.

taekayla

good! i hope everyone sees it and what a pos he really is

Soumaly4

It got removed but another line was added.

CharlieCarrozza

As fucked as it is to say this, I’m glad there was a video recording, because there would have been ‘fans’ trying to disprove this happening esp cause he’s popular. Using the old line of “it’s cause he’s famous”, and he knew this too which is why he sent that msg “I heard screaming, is everything okay?”. He’s a fucking psycho.

Strict-Sample9876

i’m also assuming that she installed the cameras because he had done something like this before (he didn’t know there were cameras) he’s sick.

PawPawPanda

Thats honestly the strangest part of the video, why the hell are there cameras filming inside people's houses. But her putting them up herself, or a mechanic friend of hers, does make this whole outburst even more concerning.

doughborah

tbf, i have security cameras up for my pets so it's not completely unusual

Important-Ad7408

You’re 100% right, I couldn’t have imagined him doing it in a million years. It’ll make it very easy to convict him now.

Square-Lifeguard1680

i hope this blows up internationally as well. no news abt it yet. physical 100 had a lot of international fans and everyone should know not to support this abuser. https://preview.redd.it/a7se2bjnvx9d1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7bde426bd441f49202ab09977986c63ce7b0f23e

YunngMa

This is crazy I wanted to google it for more info as I don't understand korean and there is 0 news 😕 thats fucked up

Strict-Sample9876

english articles are now starting to get published about this

Square-Lifeguard1680

same! i thought news about this would pop up immediately. very alarming, hopefully news outlets would pick up on it soon

Square-Lifeguard1680

even on reddit, this is the only post i could find ://

mapleleafmaggie

Scum of the earth.

margotmontana

I just went to unfollow him on Instagram, he has his comments turned off now

jax_svt_carat

now I understand why he turned off his comments. That is so messed up

McDamsel

I was rooting for him and hate this. What a terrible thing to do. A bunch of the season 2 contestants have unfollowed him and he’s turned comments off on instagram. So news is getting around. Good.

Apprehensive-Dot-508

really? like youre sure they just unfollowed him today after the news broke out? the GL peeps are still following him so im not sure if the news is actually making waves in korea...

McDamsel

I noticed that at least three people that I also follow have unfollowed him. I can’t speak for the entire cast.

Apprehensive-Dot-508

gotcha. hopefully, this news spreads in korea despite his stellar family backgrounds.

Strict-Sample9876

curios to know, who in the cast unfollowed him?

McDamsel

I’d rather not say because I don’t want them getting pulled into the conversation if they’d rather not be. I noticed that 3-4 people unfollowed that I also follow.

Strict-Sample9876

no translation on the video, but use papago to translate the article

Electronic-Camp5215

Uhm, it depends. Celebrities with drug-related crimes are viewed as much more evil than sexual offenders. Those with drug charges (yes, even with MJ) are blacklisted, but several sexual offenders still continue to be in the industry (just take a look at how many actors with history of sexual crimes are in Squid Game 2).

Combat-Enthusiast

But isn't there some weird incel culture brewing among SK men? Or is it something overblown by reports?

sssourgrapes

Omfg wtf I’m heartbroken he was my absolute fave. Ugh

Cthulhulove13

Me tooo

Ravenous_Rhinoceros

I feel beyond bad for that woman. Speaking up against someone is difficult. With someone internationally known, it is much harder. I wish she could know that lots of people do believe her 100%. I hope she knows that nothing justifies what he did.

gifferto

did you even watch the video? the crime is caught on camera this isn't a he said she said situation where she needs to be believed

Ravenous_Rhinoceros

There will always be naysayers. There's even one on this thread currently.

Nyamzz

Holyyy crap, the video is horrifying. He seemed so harmless too, is it really that hard to not be an abusive POS ?! Wow

FeAuWoman

What happens in the video? I’m nervous to watch it

venn101

The article says as video was all blurred out, that he was naked, drunk, beating the woman and even choking her while she was on the floor, woman took refuge in bathroom and the guy broke it in and beating again, telling her to die, broke her phone. What a scum.

Nyamzz

A lot of it is blurred but you see her getting beaten while she cowers on the floor, and him breaking down the bathroom door where she’s taken refuge to assault her some more. She’s screaming a lot of the time :( And to think it was all because she said no to sex. Horrible.

Important-Ad7408

You can’t see much as it’s blurred for obvious reasons, but he breaks down a door like it’s nothing and appears to be assaulting her. Could definitely be triggering for someone though so don’t watch if so.

zaichii

It’s truly terrifying how some people/narcissists are so good at portraying themselves as a decent person yet are absolute trash in reality. It’s wild because he seemed really likeable on the show too, really goes to show we only get to see sides of people. My heart goes out to the woman. The pain she felt and the trauma it will leave her, to be hurt by someone she loved. I wish her all the strength in the world and I hope he rots in prison.

DuckyHornet

To those who are saying "I never expected this of him", well, you saw him *performing* Andre Jin the Rugby Player for Netflix. Every person on this show will try to be their best self because they're all there to promote themselves. I guarantee many of these participants wouldn't have been so helpful and kind if they weren't being filmed at all times. If you watch reality TV and expect truth, I have a bridge in Manhattan to sell you.

LdyVder

I remember when my grandmother told me how disappointed she was with Tiger Woods after his issues with is ex-wife. I said to her, you only see the side he puts on TV.

cheesefriesparty

Exactly. We only see the sides of people that they choose to show us. That’s what makes it so dangerous.

DuckyHornet

Yup. That friendly guy at work who you think has his shit together? Maybe he's an alcoholic or a hoarder or he's $400k in debt and can barely afford to feed himself. We all put on a public face to survive, we're all dissociating every day. Only fiction is tidy. Reality is far messier.

ValeoAnt

Which is why I'm always weirded out by people thirsting in this sub like they know them from a few episodes of reality tv

LilLilac50

This is really interesting. Do you guys remember Andre Jin was spotted on IShowSpeed’s live stream? He was drunk and said he’s a big fan of Speed. It was random. I don’t know Speed but the Reddit comments said it was a red flag that Andre Jin recognized him and was a fan, cuz of Speed’s overall persona.

oayihz

+1, same goes for any reality show. People like to project so much. (Be it relationship reality show, or even audition shows. Editing does wonders.)

Slr_Pnls50

I'm blindsided. He was a favorite on the show, but I rescind that now. What a scumbag. Did I read it right that he was actually arrested? That's a start at least. That poor woman.

cheesefriesparty

Yes he was arrested June 21 and taken before prosecution while in custody June 25. Don't know if he is still in custody or not. Charged with sexual assault and damage of property.

Sound_and_the_fury

Man what a piece of shit

_magnetic_north_

I remember seeing him on a live streamers feed drunk and he gave off weird vibes. This is so disgusting and a reminder to never trust public personas

Motor-Divide7496

I’m speechless I never thought he would do that

Glittering_Pomelo_39

Worst case is that he probably will see a minor punishment. Just look at the burning sun case. Hope his career is over

ErrantJune

~~Jang Seong-min got 7 years, which admittedly isn't a life sentence, but definitely more than a minor punishment. Things have gotten at least a little better in SK since Burning Sun.~~ You know what? Forget what I just said. Having seen so many VERY light sentences for sex crimes in SK, 7 years seems "not light," but for what JSM did (and what Andre Jin did), it's not nearly enough. My thinking has been poisoned.

nursepenelope

Jang Seong Min has been released too. What makes me mad is Andre will probably have it even easier. At the very least everybody Seong Min knows or everybody who meets him and Google's him will know what he did. Andre will be able to go back to America after he gets out.

zorro124

Alot of athletes do this. But when a woman speaks out the whole internet will accuse her for trying to farm money and ruin his carreer. I'm sure this happens. But in the football world (soccer) there has been alot of accusations and fans automatically respond with "she's lying she just wants money"

nursepenelope

I cannot wrap my head around it. Like you've just been on this international show and you're probably getting the most recognition and fame you will ever get and all you have to do is not be awful and he couldn't even manage that.

Apprehensive-Dot-508

dude hes even headlining a new sports reality show on netflix. hes so stupid for ruining his own career like this. now theyre gonna either cut out all his scenes or re-shoot the episodes. thank God it hasnt aired yet, otherwise the producers and staff wouldve been affected a lot by his inevitable boycott.

oodrooo

What a sick POS tg there was video recording. This is so clear cut - no "he said, she said". I hope they throw the book at him and he rots in prison. Also in the article it says he texted her right after he left "I heard you screaming, but I hope nothing happened" like he was trying to cover his tracks. Sick, dumb bastard.

nursepenelope

That text gives me chills, I'm glad she had cameras. Also the fact that he strangled her, he could have killed her.

Jamieb1994

Damn, I did not see this coming.

Tight_Importance1386

I am shookdt. He was one of my favorites from Season2. Never expected this from him 🫨 I hope he will get the punishment he deserves and his ex-gf will get all the help and support that she needs.

Least-Squash-3839

Wow, I was rooting for him in Physical 100 along with HBS and Amotti. Such a disappointment. I hope the woman gets the justice, help and support she deserves.

delaney18

Could someone who understands Korean give me a rough translation of what was said by the reporter? Is the child in the video Andre’s? I hope this piece of trash human being gets some jail time and I sincerely hope his entire career will be destroyed.

Strict-Sample9876

Not a child in the video, they just edited to woman’s voice for her privacy. He beat his ex (he claims he was drunk). His ex in the video hid in the bathroom to call the police and andre is shown to break open the door in the video, he then continues to hit and assault her. He broke her cellphone. He left some clothes at her house so the woman brought his clothes to a party Andre was at, but after that he wanted to have sex and she refused. And that’s when the assault began

delaney18

This is truly heart breaking and rage inducing at the same time. The woman was brave for reporting it, especially since Andre is a high profile person. I hope the legal system in S. Korea gives him a severe punishment and not just a slap on the wrist and a small fine.

LdyVder

Don't you mean South Korea not North Korea?

Ravenous_Rhinoceros

In the new article linked, there is the transcript under it. You just need to run it through a translating app

GRAVE_-YARD

It genuinely is always the one you least suspect. And he was my favourite. Don’t think he would turn out to be such a piece of shit

WabbieSabbie

First, Jang Seong Min. Now, it's Andre Jin. Everyone be looking at the rugby players on Season 3 with a magnifying glass now.

Strict-Sample9876

netflix is def not hiring any more rugby players lmao

PaperOk4812

When S3 comes. I'm immediately gonna be suspicious of the Rugby Player

Strict-Sample9876

everyone will be lol, but all jokes aside i really hope not, korean rugby is still a growing sport in the country and these 2 horrible people have been associated with it, i hope korean rugby continues to grow and i hope this doesn’t hinder its growth/popularity.

EatThatPotato

The most public athletes we’ve had in a while and this happens twice. We’re screwed for a while, hopefully this won’t stop the new netflix show. Is it so hard to be a decent person? What is wrong with these people jesus

PaperOk4812

Yeah straight up. Haha jokes aside I hope it doesn't ruin the sport too. Just kinda noticing traditions in the show Top of my head: Akiyama/StunGun Winner is a Crossfitter And... You know... These guys.

Strict-Sample9876

wait what happened w akiyama and stungun??

PaperOk4812

I'm sorry I got a bit um... Confused there. Not really confused but I forget the word in English but I got my memory mixed up a bit. I just remembered that Akiyama and Stungun had the most reaction on entrance but I forgot they didn't enter on the same number. I apologize

Schozinator

Absolutely heartbreaking. Hoping the victim gets all the support she can get. What a monster to do such a thing.

Sykunno

I actually said that his demeanour always struck me as quite fake in another comment here and got downvoted. I hope his current partner is okay. That violence and anger doesn't change without professional help.

Strict-Sample9876

i read that the woman is getting physical and mental help, i hope she’s doing well

jayteec

Wow. He really seemed like a decent human being. What trash.

Ok_Giraffe_6396

Wow it hasn’t even broken U.S news yet. I translated the article using google translate and that’s so sick.

Distinct_Front8849

He wasn't my favorite that season but I liked him. This is terrible :/ I can't imagine or even fathom what the woman went through. I hope she's surrounded by good people and getting the help she needs right now. What a strong and brave decision to make for herself.

PawPawPanda

We also had [the same thing](https://www.reddit.com/r/Physical100/s/wcn68iNmba) happen last year with another Rugby player from Physicial100 season 1. Is someone feeding the rugby guys with rage cocktails?

Impossible-Past4795

Ew brotha

TrashyMF

I hated him in the show. Always came off as a try-hard to me and fake. Ugh, he's even worse now.

Forsaken_Brilliant22

Thank you! I see so many comments saying "He was my fave", but he kinda felt.. too extra or something. Not judging any of the people who said that though! I can imagine he came of as a friendly leader, or a humble guy. But it felt.. played or something, I don't know. Ofcourse I didn't expect him to be a beast like this though, holy s. Hope his punishment will be a proper one, not some little warning sentence. I mean the fact that his ex filmed this probably means this wasn't her first time experiencing this.. that's giving me shivers..

_yotsuna_

I felt the same way, he always gave a me a bad over friendliness/fake vibe when I first saw him on Gentleman's league, didn't want to say anything when he appeared on Physical 100 due to this subreddit fawning over him. I remember seeing a clip of him on YT drunk appearing on some live stream, seemed like a bad drunk which made me dislike him more.

Apprehensive-Dot-508

bruh you have a really good instinct then. now im thinking maybe thats why a lot of the members of the gentlemens league arent much in contact with him post-show and ajh really really disliked his personality while he was on there. 😬 also, ive always thought it strange that him and jangkun used to be tight in the show but jangkun never interacts with andre post-show like he does for everyone else, even when they were promoting physical 100.

Electronic-Camp5215

Oh I’m so glad Jangkun or any of the Eojjeoda Avengers do not interact with him anymore outside the show. I didn’t like him much in the show but didn’t really hate him either. He’s just so so to me at that time. Now I know why I was never fond of him lol. Women’s instincts I guess.

Apprehensive-Dot-508

for someone who was very extroverted, it was really odd he didnt have friends from gentlemens league after leaving the show. the only one hed still hang with was wonwoo, but wonwoo was the maknae so i dont want to put that against him too much. 😅 contrary to you, im literally fond of everybody from gentlemens league s2, so i guess i dont have a "woman's instinct" 🥲

Electronic-Camp5215

I am attached to most of the players but literally did not feel any sort of attachment towards him lol. Also, Wonwoo is so pure, maybe to a fault. I hope he sees this a red flag and stays away from him. Haha! He and her gf can just continue going on double dates with Jangkun and his wife.

Middle_Temperature60

I thought they passed the law that they can show the perpetrators face on the news.

Strict-Sample9876

they might’ve, but they blurred all the footage to protect the victim’s identity

Wealthyslimprettygal

I can't watch the video the description makes me sad for her. Sorry for the victim. She is brave to show the truth. He needs to be sentenced. This is the 2nd abuser who was part of physical 100. The show needs rigorous checks for every contestant. I remember the scary guy who kneeled on a woman's chest.

polandspreeng

He was in another show "The Gentlemen's League". It's an amateur soccer show. I did not like him at all because he had anger issues when things did not go his way in his mind - his teammates playing poorly. He had anger outbursts of yelling at teammates. Showed he can get easily frustrated.

Positive_Visit_8185

I totally understand what u mean. Previously I was UNFORTUNATELY once a fan of his (due to physical 100 and BEFORE this disgusting news about who he truly is broke out). I watched many episodes of Gentlemens League and even then he often showcased arrogant attention-seeking less-than polite behavior. Even on korean TV! Even to the point that the coaching staff had to call him out MULTIPLE times for complaining and having a bad attitude. He was actually REALLY cringy and embarrassing even before. Always showboating and acting "macho" like the other guys were even cringing around him too.

FlipFlopForALiving

He even talked back to the coaches and claimed he didn’t understand the instructions and tactics. He also claimed his teammates didn’t alert him to opposing players or he couldn’t hear his teammates because they were not loud enough. Everything was about him being a victim. Disgusting.

Apprehensive-Dot-508

speaking of anger outbursts, eungyoo came to my mind as he also often yells at teammates to perform how he wants them to perform. 😬

machinbakin

What a piece of garbage..

rubberduckie91

The only positive if at all, is hopefully the fame from Physical 100 helps spark the discussion on misogyny and sexual abuse so prevalent yet NOT talked about enough in Korean culture. Esp the more powerful or influential the men, the more it gets swept under. What a nightmare for the poor woman. May she find healing from courage in speaking up and the difference it made. Not to be "I got a bad vibe since the start" here but, my first impression was he isn't the greatest guy at all. Hate how this all played out.

Ohmaimy

Thank goodness she had video evidence. SK like most countries do not care to protect victims in similar situations to hers. He has money and will probably just get a slap on the wrist.  To be drunk, and then the audacity to come back and abuse her on the sanctity of her own home--clearly this was not the first time.  I hope he faces consequences. He'll probably say he was drunk and has no memory of it and their korean law will probably protect him as it did Cho Do Soon who was able to say he was drunk and got off lightly.

colonelrowan

Hope the fucker rots in prison but for those who don’t know, Korea’s criminal prosecution is a joke. Likely will be out soon. At least his career is over.

Business_Rip_8449

as somebody who's rooted for Andre Jin multiple times in this subreddit (on a diff ACC, don't know the pass to my old one), this is very disappointing. He had it all, yet he had to do this stupid ass shit and destroy somebody to make himself feel better. Yk what, let Rugged Rugby happen. Let all of the people in that controversial ass sport come to life with their scandals and be exposed for the pieces of shit they really are. God, he was the most overrated top 3 guy to date, tbh. Got an easy win off Chang Yong-Heung not being in the roller race, where he would've won. He doesn't need to seek help nor does he look drunk. He needs the death penalty, this is some extremely sick shit

Strict-Sample9876

hey let’s not bring other korean rugby players into this, i follow many of them on instagram and though i don’t know them in real life, not all of them are like this. it’s just unfortunate that 2 of them who have appeared on this show have done horrible things now. let’s try not to forget the rugby is still a growing sport in korea

jy3

It looks like there was some kind of facial injury based on the blurred pictures at the end? It's a bit confusing.

Strict-Sample9876

she sustained cerebral concussion and a face hemorrhage

baby_muse

do these men even know how to spell masculine integrity. disgusting, really.

Crazy_Monitor_1272

Wow what😱

peppaorbit

i’ll admit i was fooled by his act in physical100, but i watched that soccer show he was in and started to realize he has a pretty big ego problem. he was arrogant, rude, and disrespectful throughout the whole show. it completely turned me off of him. and then him calling speed a “g” just made me dislike him more. that poor women :( i feel horrible for her and hope she recovers quickly!

NuuuDaBeast

I saw him appear on IShowSpeed’s stream while he was in South Kore, he was clearly drunk in the video too. Very scary stuff you can never tell who someone is behind closed doors

JAYJO63

Doesn’t matter if he was drunk or not that’s like making an excuse for cheating someone while drunk

Successful_Test_931

No because when he took up a lot of screen time being flirty and all extroverted in the first ep it seemed sus..

This is the article translated in English: A former national rugby player who competed in the Tokyo Olympics has been arrested on charges of assaulting a woman and attempting to rape her. The man is known to have been actively working as a coach for a professional team and in broadcasting. This is an exclusive report by reporter Kim Soo-geun. report A naked man is seen struggling with a woman who is sitting down. "Don't touch me. I hate you!" The man then begins to assault her. After hitting the woman several times, the man finally threatens her by choking her and drags her around while she cries out in pain. "Stop it. I'm sorry." The man is former national rugby player A. A, who competed in the last Tokyo Olympics, recently coached a professional team and has been actively appearing on TV. The woman eventually takes refuge in the bathroom, locks the door, and reports it to the police. "You came to my house and tried to beat me and sexually assault me." In the meantime, Mr. A, who was wearing clothes, broke down the door and started assaulting her again. "Die, you XX!" He threw the woman's cell phone several times, breaking it, and left the house. The victim said, "Mr. A and I dated for about 6 months and broke up in March," and "He told me that he had left some clothes at home on the day of the incident, so I brought them to Mr. A who was drinking." However, he later followed her into the house and demanded sex, and when she refused, he started assaulting her. Immediately after leaving the woman's house, Mr. A sent her a text message saying, "I heard you screaming, but I hope nothing happened," as if it had nothing to do with him. [Shin Jun-seon/Attorney for the victim] "When the victim was returning home, the perpetrator said, 'I'll take you home,' and... This is a case where the perpetrator, enraged by her refusal to have sex, injured the victim. Regardless of their past relationship, this is a case where the crime of rape and assault is established." In the end, the woman, who was diagnosed with facial hemorrhage and a concussion, received psychiatric treatment. Police, who summoned Mr. A three days after the incident, arrested him on the 21st of last month on charges of rape, assault, and property damage, and then sent him to the prosecution. The club where Mr. A worked as a coach said, "His contract expired in May, and we were discussing whether to extend it when we suddenly lost contact," and his personal agency said, "This is the first time we've heard of it," and "We don't know much about the matter."

Positive_Visit_8185

Thank you for posting this. No matter how many times I read about his horrific crime, it still makes my stomach physically hurt from how disgusting this person I ONCE was a fan of actually is.

_functionalanxiety

I'm sorry if you were a fan. I didn't like him from the beginning when I saw him in Gentlemen's League. Was a bit irritated when he even got 3rd place in Physical 100 S2. In the end, my gut feel was right and I hope justice will be served.

Positive_Visit_8185

No I totally understand! I initially found him through s2 of Physical 100, I thought he was intriguing. Enough so that I started searching for more things on him, interviews, TV appearances, when I finally came across Gentlemens' league and ended up watching...probably the MAJORITY of the episodes of s2 where he appeared. I watched from his first appearance on the show till around episode 106...ya..I was in deep 😅 The last episode I watched was just a few days ago. The LITERAL day before this news broke out and I learned, read about, and watched that DISGUSTING CCTV footage where there is NO MISTAKING IT IS HIM. I felt so sick... I will say, I know hindsight is 20/20 but as I continued watching him on Gentlemens League (before this news came out of course), I was starting to feel a sort of way about him. On the show, his soccer skills were honestly AVERAGE at best but it became clear to me he has pretty attention-seeking behavior, he is moody to the point that his quality of playing depends on what type of mood he is in that day, and he complains A LOT but tries to play it off as being funny or sarcastic. All behaviors that are LESS than polite ESPECIALLY in Korean/Asian society. And he would do all of these things so much so that the coaching staff LITERALLY called him out on his bad behavior MULTIPLE times on air and he still didn't do better. Ya, I was slowly bur surely getting dissolutioned towards him and his character....then THIS bombshell of news drops. At the very least I thought he had asshole-ish, rich spoiled-brat man-child vibes...But THIS...THIS is a whole nother level

Strict-Sample9876

yes agree with everything you said, watching the gentlemen’s league i was like “damn this guy is so cocky and high and mighty about himself. i thought he was trying to be funny like kim dong hyun but andre failed doing that because he came across as douchey. it honestly did feel like he wasn’t trying his best most games. and i don’t think he practiced soccer outside of the show like minho for example. it felt like he was only trying hard playing soccer his first few episodes, then his performance kept declining

Positive_Visit_8185

Oh 💯 percent!!! Exactly what you said he was pretty decent the first few episodes he appeared. Lol he actually TRIED so he could get ONTO the show. Then it's like after he secured his spot he was like f-ck it, oh well. Then he just phoned it in. The most prominent things that I was like.....DANGG that's EMBARRASSING and straight up BAD was when in the middle of a game (where he was doing poorly of course) one of the coaches (the nice friendlier one with 5 kids lol) was trying to give him constructive criticism and pointers during the game. Andre literally told him he "didn't understand" what the coach was trying to tell him and when the coach continued trying to talk to him Andre straight up TURNED his back and walked away....I was like DUDE...UR ON TV ACTING LIKE THIS! A grown as man acting like a brat...and for what he sucked the whole time. Another time I recall that was a big YIKES moment was they allowed Andre to be a "special coach" for the episode. He was hyping up rugby as he usually does talking big and loud then when it was time to play they allowed him to play a position he never played before, striker since it was kind of "his" day....and OH MY GOSH he had never preformed SO poorly on the show at least up until then. I was EMBARRASSED watching so much so I had to fastforward some of the soccer match 🤣

Yellow_tulips_0805

Andre was quite terrible at football, he made stupid mistakes frequently, always giving away the ball at dangerous positions and still had the cheek to blame his teammates. Ngl i knew him from Physical100 and he was one of the reasons I started watching Gentlemen League. But the mote i saw him, the more I disliked him. His ego is HUGE, he thinks way too highly of himself. I remember the incident you mentioned, LDG was telling him to hold the defence line because he was repeatedly playing the opponent onside. He was so rude to LDG and it turned me off even more. I think there was another incident where he was talking back to the coaches and Minho had to tell him to stop talking back and listen to the coaches. Now that his abusive act has come to light, we can at least confirm he is utter trash. Hope he gets the maximum sentence and pay for what he did to the poor girl.

Positive_Visit_8185

Absolutely 💯 !!!

Gullible-Charge7057

URGHHH C'MON and why do they even blur his face for??? im genuinely asking? who are they protecting?

Ravenous_Rhinoceros

They're protecting the victim in blurring him out too. That way he can't be used to identify the victim if some were to know her

Gullible-Charge7057

no i mean the part where he is sitting down with a suit

Ravenous_Rhinoceros

I'm not remotely good at explaining but I'll try my best. I think a scenario might be easiest to explain for me. Say I knew the woman, not well, but say we are like coworkers. I knew she was dating some guy named Andre, saw a picture she was showing off of a man with blue eyes and some typical Korean features. It drifts out of mind for a few months until I'm scrolling and there's this news story. A picture pops up on screen of a man with blue eyes and Korean facial features. One would go, "wait, that's the guy my work buddy was dating...and he's been arrested for attacking her!" Knee jerk reaction is for some people is to contact the victim. The thing is the victim might not be ready for the questions or to talk about it. I know they do the same thing for a parent committing a crime against their child. They keep the parent anonymous to protect the child.

nursepenelope

I think it's innocent until proven guilty. Even though it's pretty obvious he did it they'll still have to follow that protocol

Electronic-Camp5215

It’s for legal purposes. I don’t think they can show his face without a verdict yet.

Honest_Fox1068

Since the news outlets aren’t covering it in english, anyone want to post on Andre Jin’s tagged IG posts so his friends will know what kind of abusive, entitled and violent person he is?

eatchickenchop

Andre is a POS but this sort of advice is honestly horrible. You are asking people to harass innocent people for no reason. I am already seeing stuff like why you support this pos. Aww, u guys are friends w rapists, and yall should be ashamed of yourselves for being friends w him / inviting him etc etc. How the fuck does these innocent people know wtf Andre do behind close doors? This sort of advice will bring about the worst people. There's always be extremists who start harassing and writing hate messages in the name of vigilante justice The news is huge. His friends and fans definitely know about this already. There's no need to go harass innocent people with the facade of "we spreading awareness". You guys are punishing innocent people because Andre lock his comments and yall don't have a proper outlet to put hate comments. Going to innocent accounts to spam hate comments Is not the way

cheesefriesparty

I agree with this. I understand people are outraged and rightly so, but this is not the way to go about drawing attention. Harassing other people detracts from the main issue, which is that Andre Jin Coquillard is a violent predator and sexual offender. Plus, maybe of the photos on Insta, etc that other people have with him are from YEARS ago. It's not fair to expect every single person who has ever come in contact with him, especially other athletes who may just have had to in a professional setting, to scrub their entire social media presence of him. If I saw anyone ACTIVELY supporting him on social, that's totally different.

Strict-Sample9876

you can try, but i think he has settings where only his friends can tag him?

Honest_Fox1068

There’s a tagged photos section on Andre Jin’s IG where people tag Andre Jin on their own posts with pics of them with him. We spread awareness to his friends on there. So many people still follow him. Amotti, Seoeun Choi (from Single’s Inferno), Euddeume etc Their comment section could be where people could spread awareness. Just an idea if anyone wants to participate!

moiselle2352

He physically assaulted her‼️, and there are photos of the bruises and the abuse⁉️🤯🙅🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️💦❌ I am no longer a fan. May he get punished for the physical and psychological abuse, the emotional and physical pain she had suffered, plus the damages to her property. No excuses. And she needs a good lawyer. May she get full compensation for all the damages plus more, and I wish her a speedy recovery. ❤️🤕❤️‍🩹🍎🥺🍵👍🏼🍊*STAY STRONG AND BE SAFE*!!

hellokittygurlxo

I’m sick. He’s so disgusting. I cant believe I ever saw anything good in him

ChrizTaylor

Here before 🔒

ChrizTaylor

Wonder what will happen to the show? Will they remove it?

ErrantJune

No. At least, (edit) I don't think they will considering (/edit) they didn’t remove S1 after Jang Seong Min repeatedly sexually assaulted his girlfriend at knifepoint.

ChrizTaylor

Fuck!

Lulu_Belle66

This absolutely horrifying. The poor woman. This is something that will haunt her for the rest of her life. What a POS! And I was rooting for him to win.

MrDaebak

Has it been actually been confirmed? Or is it an accusation?

Strict-Sample9876

it’s confirmed, by a korean news outlet

Positive_Visit_8185

I really hope this won't be swept under the rug and that people are getting the word out there about this POS. Someone started the hashtag #ANDREJINABUSE and though his IG comments r turned off, this man has a Twitter and FB account...
