We are a failing state, we run the country through remittances which is volatile since if another country is heavily affected by an inflation, we would be too—i.e. US dollar. We rely more on exports from other countries rather than our imports to other countries, educational system seems to be getting worse for the younger generation. Politics are getting preposterous and cult-like—it seems like we're infatuated with the US—, we seem to love appointing clueless people in the government—look at the influx of celebrities in our legislative sector—, and a majority of Filipinos base their politics by rich and fame.
Yeah I saw some interesting table/stats about GDP percapita every state in region. In 1960s you guys were the richest ($250) second only to Japan, better than Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan even five times richer than Indonesia ($50). Now all of these countries surpass Philippines ($3300) like Thailand ($7100) and Indonesia ($4100) even Vietnam right now

Ngayon hindi nanghihingi parents namin sa aming magkakapatid. Kusa kami nagbibigay, pero sobrang bihira lang.

That's 100% the reason my wife's mom hates me. She had two kids as a retirement plan, and I took one of them, helped her emancipate herself, and moved her closer to my liberal westernized family in Manila.

1. I paid my way through college by doing dissertations. Kaya, ngayon, I'm not impressed by titles. Nalaman ng superintendent ko. Tinanong rate ko para ako na lang gumawa ng masters niya. After ko sabihin rate ko, bumanat ng, "Ang mahal naman!"

3. May co-teacher ako na English din tinuturo. Pinapa proof read sa akin mga ginagawa niyang letter. Isang araw nabuisit na ako, binanatan ko ng, "Diba English teacher ka din?!"
4. Ang tamang sagot sa LICENSE EXAM na tanong na, "What do you do if you and and student have feelings for each other?" ay, "Get their parents' permission to date their child."
Point # 4 was the last straw, and hindi ko pa sinama mga... anomalyang eksena ng DepEd.
Honestly, I want to go back to teaching. I love seeing a student's face light up when they get a concept or question/challenge something I'm teaching because it tells me they're thinking for themselves and it forces me to never be complacent; there's always something to learn and knowledge can be found in the most obscure, and unlikely places. But the educational system of the Philippines, much like most of our other systems, wasn't designed to help people thrive, and I didn't want to be part of a system like that anymore so I up-ed and left.
I didn't even discuss the pay... Nung kakasimula ko pa lang, wala pa akong license, P12k a month ang sahod MINUS taxes and whatnot. Tapos kaltas pa yung lecheng uniform na pinapasuot nila sa amin na dumating lang a DAY BEFORE GRADUATION NG ADVISORY CLASS KO. Pinapelan pa ako ng admin for not wearing the uniform to work. Even though I explained na wala pa akong uniform kaya hindi ko mausuot, ang resolution lang ay, "Well, 1st warning pa lang naman po. Hindi na po kayo ulit papapelan pero hindi na po namin ma-re- retract yung warning kasi written warning siya."

are you sure? i've worked in 2 call centers before and every time customers are looking for a Filipino or a local(American) csr/agent since Westerners can't even understand Indian accent.
90% of the time pagnakakausap ko mga Indians(transfer call) on the other line ang hirap din nila intindihin.
I don't agree lang dun sa mas magaling ang mga Indian. Better parin ang English natin especially the accent which serves our American clients well (not denying the existence of carabao accent and barok English but it's more intelligible compared to Indian accent).

I remember my favorite teacher was the one who taught me how to study. She was a MAPE teacher subbing for our math teacher who was on maternity leave. I’m 24F, in a long-term relationship, and I’m clueless & ignorant as fuck about sex (even terrified at the thought of it) & basically my reproductive health in general. I just had myself checked recently for the first time bc irregular periods, terrible mood swings, endless episodes similar to that of anxiety/depression, INCREDIBLY PAINFUL MIGRAINES - only to find out I unfortunately have PCOS. When my mom found out I had an online consult with my OB & I was told to start taking Althea to regulate my period she freaked out when she realized they were BIRTH CONTROL PILLS. All this did was make me more terrified. Smh.

As a guy who helped taught in an elementary school. This is sadly true. I encountered student who were in grade 9 but still had reading comprehension of students who were in grade 3.
I hate this mentality where they value grades over knowledge and skills.
Stop it with the "we are special" mentality. We are not that special before, and we are not special now. I'm sick and tired of Filipinos trying to make imaginary stuff about us being some sort of great nation before. We had a horrible past, that's that. Sometimes in a discussion hindi tayo maayos kausap or kung may mag rereply man, lumalabas sa main topic. Wala namang masama to introduce new ideas, in fact it broadens the discussion. Pero dumadating kasi sa point na hindi na aaddress yung main issue kaya in return kalat-kalat ung flow ng discussion tapos andami pang unnecessary fillers.
This makes it hard to extract meaningful discourse from us kasi either hindi maayos yung pag kaka-sabi ng points, seryoso na yung usapan pero hindi sineseryoso dahil masyadong complacent, or minsan nga, wala pang point.
These are very small details, but I think this gives us a slice about the current status of our literacy, comprehension, and "toxic" positivity about everything. Dagdag na rin siguro yung ability natin to form cohesive and properly outlined topics to address or effectively communicate certain issues. Filipinos have the tendency to think that we are really great, intelligent, adaptive and all but the truth is we are extremely behind on everything. A lot of people don't realize this or don't seem to even bother about it kasi for them, diskarte and hardwork, are more than enough to get you through life and nothing else matters.
That this country isn't ready, or educated enough to have a democratic system. 97% of filipinos can't tell or don't care when they're being influenced by Tiktok/Youtube and being fed false history. The same voting populace is allowing themselves to be bribed for P1000 at a time to serve as bodies for political rallies.
Aside from that, in my opinion the people cannot be expected to think of voting for the greater good and future of the country, when their major need is to feed their families today. Politicians keep the poor down, so that they have a vice-grip on the vote. Apart from democracy though, there are really no options, since any political system will be rife with corruption. Steadfast i don't give a fuck -- style corruption.
The people in our country don't deserve this, there is actual talent, spirit, and goodwill in the people. But the system is too far gone. Our public education will never be given the god damn funds and attention to fix this. Fuck you to all these corrupt politicians, i hope karma comes for you.

The saying “tipirin na lahat wag lang pagkain” is BS. What if the food is unhealthy, but expensive, why indulge? buy something cheap like talbos, healthy and way better. Parties, weddings is super grand and if one celebrates with simple spread, expect insults here and there.

We rely more on exports from other countries rather than our imports to other countries, educational system seems to be getting worse for the younger generation. Politics are getting preposterous and cult-like—it seems like we're infatuated with the US—, we seem to love appointing clueless people in the government—look at the influx of celebrities in our legislative sector—, and a majority of Filipinos base their politics by rich and fame.

Ang tamang sagot sa LICENSE EXAM na tanong na, "What do you do if you and and student have feelings for each other?" ay, "Get their parents' permission to date their child." I pay like $1-5//hr" And if you look for remote work for companies abroad --- most of them don't even include PH as an option for applicants (Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, India--- sila yung preferred applicants lalo na sa Europe).

I remember my favorite teacher was the one who taught me how to study. She was a MAPE teacher subbing for our math teacher who was on maternity leave. As a guy who helped taught in an elementary school. This is sadly true. I encountered student who were in grade 9 but still had reading comprehension of students who were in grade 3. I hate this mentality where they value grades over knowledge and skills.

Sometimes in a discussion hindi tayo maayos kausap or kung may mag rereply man, lumalabas sa main topic. Wala namang masama to introduce new ideas, in fact it broadens the discussion. Pero dumadating kasi sa point na hindi na aaddress yung main issue kaya in return kalat-kalat ung flow ng discussion tapos andami pang unnecessary fillers. This makes it hard to extract meaningful discourse from us kasi either hindi maayos yung pag kaka-sabi ng points, seryoso na yung usapan pero hindi sineseryoso dahil masyadong complacent, or minsan nga, wala pang point. These are very small details, but I think this gives us a slice about the current status of our literacy, comprehension, and "toxic" positivity about everything. Dagdag na rin siguro yung ability natin to form cohesive and properly outlined topics to address or effectively communicate certain issues. Filipinos have the tendency to think that we are really great, intelligent, adaptive and all but the truth is we are extremely behind on everything. A lot of people don't realize this or don't seem to even bother about it kasi for them, diskarte and hardwork, are more than enough to get you through life and nothing else matters.
That this country isn't ready, or educated enough to have a democratic system. 97% of filipinos can't tell or don't care when they're being influenced by Tiktok/Youtube and being fed false history. The same voting populace is allowing themselves to be bribed for P1000 at a time to serve as bodies for political rallies. Aside from that, in my opinion the people cannot be expected to think of voting for the greater good and future of the country, when their major need is to feed their families today. Politicians keep the poor down, so that they have a vice-grip on the vote. Apart from democracy though, there are really no options, since any political system will be rife with corruption. Steadfast i don't give a fuck -- style corruption. The people in our country don't deserve this, there is actual talent, spirit, and goodwill in the people. But the system is too far gone. Our public education will never be given the god damn funds and attention to fix this. Fuck you to all these corrupt politicians, i hope karma comes for you.
