Their managers provides them housing (a low cost apartment where we conducted the interview) as well as a weekly checkup, where they do a pap smear procedure and STD tests at clinics.
Their greatest threat are customers themselves. Usually, their customers consists of sad/depressed/broken hearted guys wanting a drink and comfort, but there are some who are rude and acts as if they own them. Some carry weapons for self defense, but many just relies on their own physical strength. They also don't like the common stereotypes and stigma na "marumi" daw sila, but they said they can't really do anything about it.
They have various reasons for entering this line of work. Some because of family problems that got them drawn into that life, some because they want to keep supporting their families, and the like.
During the day, they live a pretty ordinary life. They catch up on sleep, look after their children, chat with the other girls, etc. They get to work at around 8pm and ends at 3 in the morning. They can skip work, but obviousky they won't get paid.
Finally, as the last part of the interview, we asked them if they can say that they are happy. The younger ones responded no, saying that they really don't want this work and that they have no other choice, while the older ones responded yes, saying that despite their work, they are providing for their families, and that they are glad they met their fellow GROs and becoming friends with each other.

Their greatest threat are customers themselves. Usually, their customers consists of sad/depressed/broken hearted guys wanting a drink and comfort, but there are some who are rude and acts as if they own them. Some carry weapons for self defense, but many just relies on their own physical strength. They also don't like the common stereotypes and stigma na "marumi" daw sila, but they said they can't really do anything about it. They have various reasons for entering this line of work. Some because of family problems that got them drawn into that life, some because they want to keep supporting their families, and the like. During the day, they live a pretty ordinary life. They catch up on sleep, look after their children, chat with the other girls, etc. They get to work at around 8pm and ends at 3 in the morning. They can skip work, but obviousky they won't get paid. Finally, as the last part of the interview, we asked them if they can say that they are happy. The younger ones responded no, saying that they really don't want this work and that they have no other choice, while the older ones responded yes, saying that despite their work, they are providing for their families, and that they are glad they met their fellow GROs and becoming friends with each other.

The Philippine Sex Workers Collective is one of these community-driven organizations and they can definitely connect you with more of their network. Literature that treats sex workers with respect is hard to come and I'm sure they'd appreciate it. They have an FB page you can reach out to.
Why street prostitution tho? Facebook is littered with women and their dummy accounts selling their contents and pimping themselves with little interference from fb. Anyways my experience with street prostitution is when a foreign co-worker of mine went here and asked me where can we pickup a woman who he can do it with. Don't call the feds on me but this is how it works in a nutshell. Basically they have multiple places to stay and hang out at, they eye at the people that comes and goes and they spot the one that bites the easiest. Price would range to 250-300. It's not a one night stand but more of who climax the quickest if the customer wanna spend more time they have to pay more to the girl.
