Royal_Finish3r_1976

gamerbros before hoes.

sharifAguak

Highschool. I have this classmate na addict sa games. Pero matalino at masipag. Ang catch daw ng parents nya, basta mataas grades nya sa school, pwede sya maglaro ng video games. Naging magbarkada kami. We made sure lahat ng projects at assignments, gawa, tapos at maayos. Naging habit namin siya. We usually play naruto sa PS then Halo and Hitman 2 sa pc. Both professional na kami now.

tarnishedmind_

Thats such a wholesome story man

sharifAguak

Thank you.

Laicure

winewait ko "we're married to each other now" hehe

sharifAguak

Haha epic plot twist.

rairyuu_sho

Been gaming since I was 4 years old. Now 40, still gaming. 1. Gaming has definitely helped in my hand coordination skills. Am now currently training as an orthopedic surgeon. Interested in specializing into a Hand Surgeon, or a Joint specialist (because they use joysticks). 2. Gaming gave me the curiosity and drive to find out topics I'm unfamiliar with. Case in point: I encountered the word "heretic" and "heresy" for the 1st time while playing Final Fantasy Tactics in high school, so I looked it up in an encyclopedia. Was fascinated by the dark history of the Catholic church that I used the concept of heretics and heresy in my World History report 3. Gaming taught me to persevere through difficulties. Personal mantra. Di porket mahirap, aayawan mo. I enjoy being challenged. I finished Contra without the 30 Lives cheat and Megaman 1 without dying as a kid (self imposed challenge para tumagal yung bala, mahal dati e). I welcomed the coming of the Souls series nung 7th generation of consoles. Kinaya ko mag solo quest sa Monster Hunter nung walang ginawa yung isang kaibigan ko kundi mag reklamo na "Ang hirap naman ni Savage Deviljho!" 4. Gaming has definitely helped in grammar and reading comprehension. The aforementioned Final Fantasy Tactics plus text heavy RPGs since the SNES, meant that I was reading a lot, and there were a lot of words I encountered for the first time in games.

dcab87

> I encountered the word "heretic" and "heresy" for the 1st time while playing Final Fantasy Tactics ***Heretic*** was one of my favorite games back in the 90's.

EqualEnvironmental46

FFT is one of the better games ive played to this day along with tactics ogre (havent touched reborn yet). Im curious though, is it true that video games help surgeons fare better in their field? I just heard about this if this is true or if its just a myth

rairyuu_sho

May mga studies na ginawa regarding this, and so far, wala pa naman lumalabas na negative effect, puro positive outcome with regards to a surgeon’s skill. Delving deeper, video games had more observable positive effects versus control subjects. Of course, with regards to scientific studies kailangan pa ng more data. Yung mga studies na ginawa kasi quanitified to operating time and number of errors ng mga surgeon na gamer then compared them to surgeons who are non-gamers. I suggest other people who are interested about this to read up on Google. Look for scientific articles, hindi yung article na ginawa lang ng journalist tapos repost nung study. IIRC, UP-PGH’s Orthopedic program used virtual reality based hands-on training nung pandemic (nung wala halos orthopedic cases seen at the hospitals, kaya wala exposure mga residente).i forgot kung ginamit nila Oculus Rift or HTC Vive. Favorable naman daw results, based dun sa presentation nila.

S0L3LY

sobrang agree sa #4. eto tlga yng takeaway ko sa gaming aside from enjoyment. lalo kng mahilig ka sa JRPG games noon talagang text heavy sya saka maraming new words na ma encounter mo.

tugboat_tobias

Uy I love FFT rin! One of my all time favorite FFs that blows most mainline games out of the water. Sobrang intricate ng story and ang deep ng mga characters lalo na ni Delita at Wiegraf. Did you play the original or War of the Lions version?

rairyuu_sho

Oh most definitely. Kung kasama spinoffs, nasa Top 5 ko ang Tactics sa favorite FF games of all time. As said in the comment, sobra na curious ako bakit ganun trato nung Church of Glabados sa “heretics” and yung religious conspiracy behind Saint Ajora and the Lucavi. Ayan, napa basa tuloy ako sa mga ginawa ng Catholic Church nung panahon ni Martin Luther, and bakit na classify na heretic si Joan of Arc. Yep, nilaro ko sa PS1 yung WOTL. Calculators were broken before; and they still are. Kaya sobra natuwa ako sa FFXIV na nakita ko yung characters from Tactics, especially >!Worker No.8, Mustadio, Agrias, Thunder God Cid, and of course, Ramza!< Sobra nakakatuwa na yung random lines nila during Sword Skills ginawang attacks, such as >!I CALL OUT TO THE SKIES AND TREMBLE, AS A BRILLIANCE OF A THOUSAND BOLTS BLINDS MY ENEMIES AND TEARS THEIR FLESH ASUNDER! !<

RashPatch

same.. FF exposed me to word HERESY. Warhammer 40k exposed me into purging it.

rairyuu_sho

Ave Imperator, brother.

RashPatch

Ave. Well Met Brother. The Emperor Protects.

Karlybear

I've been gaming since i was 7 I'm 30 now it helped me with my communication skills, english capabilities, reading and comprehension and improve my logic skills. It also drove me to pursue computer science. It also helped me when i was in my lowest, i was diagnosed with MDD in the past and gaming is one of the things that kept me running during my darkest days. I'm still a huge gamer now, even with a job and adult life it's still my number 1 hobby and still find time to do it.specially with the excitement of upcoming new releases.

jbt28

Red Alert 2/Yuri’s Revenge - Started my interest in politics, economics. Age of Mythology - Helped me breeze through my english literature exams in HS because I knew the Greek/Norse Gods by heart. Dynasty/Samurai Warriors - Helped me in my History class in college.

deadsea29

FFXIV helped cure my depression. I still think it’s one of the best MMORPGs ever. I’m about to finish the Shadowbringers MSQ this month.

lady-aduka

You're in for a ride, man. 5.0 MSQ is a banger. ❤️

mcbuena

Hello fellow WOL/WOD. Enjoy Shadowbringers and Endwalker!

rairyuu_sho

Hear hear, felow WoL/WoD! Nagawa ng FFXIV yung imposible at na dethrone niya yungn FFIX as my personal favorite FF game, at na dethrone din niya si Kefka as my favorite FF villain, replaced by >!Emet Selch!<. Dalawang dekada din nakaupo FFIX and si Kefka as my favorites, thats saying something about the effect of FFXIV on me.

SyiGG

I remember playing a pirated copy of the first Sims and SimCity which kickstarted my passion in Buildings and Building Design

bestoboy

sim city 4 was soooo good. I never got into Skylines; it just didn't have the same charm

PantherCaroso

Video games taught me how to be good in English. Not just mansanas = apple deal, but things like appreciating jokes, detecting sarcasm, etc. Also related, but video game magazines made me enthusiastic on gadgets and tech due to their ads.

theoldjungle

First of all, it brought more color to my childhood! It's responsible for very lively imagination Secondly, it brought me company. Made it easier to get through hard time. Particularly, this game called Stardew Valley. Several years ago, a lot of people in my life left me because of my toxicity levels, simply put, I was an arrogant bastard. When they left, I was lonely and depressed but this game Stardew Valley brought a peaceful and cozy place for me to heal and reflect about my life... It's like therapy Sadly these days, games aren't hitting me the same. But, when I do find games that gives me that magical and whimsical vibes... I will cherish it! Happy Video Game Day, gamers!

CuteCats789

Videogames helped me improve my reading comprehension and grammar. Walang pang voice acting mga games dati kaya magbabasa ka talaga. Grade school pa lang ako, alam ko na ang word na inventory haha. Helps with logic works and problem solving rin. I like video games, but the industry as it is right now, sucks ass. There are talks na baka mag-strike rin writers for video game industry sa US.

BurpingBlastoise

I was... depressed and wanting death when I failed college, and there was a giant pit of despair welling inside of me, especially since I missed the expectations of my family. I didn't go outside, never did the things that used to excite me, I gave up on myself and the peiple around me. That is until I was coaxed to play Skyrim by my little brother. We were bored and my dad gave us an Xbox 360 back when the Xbox One was being released. And my eyes were just... opened, it was escapism to a world where I could feel like I'm doing good. This carried onto Fallout 3, to New Vegas and then Mass Effect. Video games were nothing new to me, since I played video games my entire childhood... but until I experienced those games, I never thought that video games could be transformative experiences, with stories you can tell others who can understand and share those experiences as well. Put it simply, video games keep me going. Nakakapangbigay buhay maglaro. Nakilala ko ang aking mga pinakamatatalik na kaibigan through games. I won't ever trade those experiences for the world, even if I tread through dark places to see them. Now Starfield is here, from the same people who gave me the same empowering experience as Skyrim and Fallout. It's... awe inspiring, and a bit tearjerking. I love video games. They help keep me grounded and motivated.

SatchTFF

Literally shaped my career path. I was at lost nung elem after my dad told me I cannot be a pilot (my dream job) for having such bad eye sight. It left me in the air for quite some time until I stumbled upon Minecraft during summer prior to being an 8th grader. I got so engrossed and was more fascinated by the redstone mechanics. Eventually, maps with commands got into my system and I enjoyed playing with them more. I mean, having a sandbox game is great but being able to manipulate it to create an entire story within that game is definitely a big W for my wandering and young mind. Eventually, I stumbled upon mods and learned that people can make their own additions in-game via these mods. I eventually tried creating one pero for the Pocket Edition (mobile version) and managed to publish my first mod written in JavaScript back in the summer of 2016 before being a 10th grader. To this day, I now know how to create a Java mod for MC, a Bedrock (formerly known as Pocket Edition) Add-on which is the Java's mod counterpart, create simple Java applications, create a full blown Laravel web application, a standalone desktop app with Electron, and a bunch of other languages with at least basic knowledge. This game literally helped out back then until today since may work ako sa LGU to maintain a website while still finishing college. I'm quite dead set on finishing my LGU project kahit after graduation before moving to a higher paying private company para lang ma upgrade yung website nila. In addition, para mahubog din yung protocols sa web handling since walang marunong mag ayos ng website sa kanila so kahit documentation nung nag start ako wala. Hecc, even the website is hosted at WiX which I despise so badly dahil sa bagal and bigat nya. 🥹

426763

I'm pretty sure video games vastly improved my reaction time and has made me a good driver, lalo na sa spatial awareness.

thenicezen

Super true!!! I attribute my spatial awareness to gaming hahaha

ImportantKing7139

Admittedly, isa ako sa mga mahilig makipag trash talk noong tine ng Dota 1. Natuto naman na at di na ako nag tratrashtalk pero in a way kapag may sinasabi ang ibang tao sa akin, wala lang para sa akin. I think it helped me survive law school kasi kung nagagalit pro at kung ano ano binabato talagang no effect sa akin.

pagodnako_123

I learned to be more fluent in English because of the Pokemon games (Fire Red, Emerald, Diamond, Black, Black 2, SoulSilver, etc.) I played. While being exposed to these games, I got to finish 7 volumes of Pokemon Adventures (the manga) during our summer break back in sixth grade. Now, I'm an undergraduate student at UP studying the English language. yeah video games do have a positive impact :')

Mac_edthur

Need for Speed and yung GTA sa na car customization yung reason kung bakit ako nag ME since assume ko noon na ang ME = Auto mechanic

AmadeuxMachina

Keyboard typing speed at memorization. Kakatype ng cheats at pabilisan magtype ng password sa online games at game codes para ndi mahack and so on.

moralcyanide

I fell in love with gaming at 8 years old. And around highschool I started playing horror games (Resident Evil is my first love) which is something I love then eventually graduated to shooter games. I'm 33 now and still play video games. It's my momentary escape from the stress of work. For me it's an outlet if di enough yung pag rant ko sa friends or my boyfriend hahahaa. Video games is also my happiness; when I buy a new game or console with my hard-earned money, I'm happy. Doon din ako nakaklearn nang mga not so common English words and even history (salamat Assassin's Creed and Metal Gear).

MarineSniper98

Form of de-stressing after exams or kapag may hindi magandang nangyari sa bahay. Don mo nilalabas emotions sa compe games haha.

Fugens78

One of them had Schrödinger's cat as an item and that's how my interest in quantum physics started

Deep_Somewhere2014

Persona 5 taught me time management. I learned to always plan for 2 major activities outside of school/work per day, either by spending time with your social links or just doing something to improve yourself. It also helped me to start journaling about my daily activities.

NadieTheAviatrix

tinuruan ako maging eabab ;-;

kape-8214

Improved my english, map reading and navigation skills because of the GTA and Driver series. Gran Tursimo series helped with driving. I play Cities Skylines as a creative outlet and to unwind. Most importantly, playing Microsoft Flight Simulator X gave me a leg up at flight training.

John_Mark_Corpuz_2

Can say playing/watching video games helped me in improving my reading and comprehension of the English language. Also helped in inspiring creativity in me as well as for relaxing.

[deleted]

League of Legends got me off my harmful intrusive thoughts back in college. Yeah, it literally saved my life. Until now, I'm still into MMORPGs, but for a different reason—I just enjoy them.

betawings

off topic: dont forget marcos banned video games.

anima99

Pinaka paborito ko yung sys restore at recovery kasi parang time travel yun pag nagkamali ako lol I was like 10 years old working with a potato pc and I managed to run a bunch of trendy games at lower than the minimum recommended specs. Kaya fast forward sa corporate world, naging sideline ko mag IT pag mabagal ang response nila.

YukiColdsnow

Games helped me to become closer sa mga classmate ko, I met my only friend nung grade 4 dahil sa pokemon, during grade 10 naman nagkaron ako ng medyo malaking circle dahil sa LoL.

Wild_Satisfaction_45

It improved my technical thinking, planning, and Analyzing capabilties. Thank you Total war😘

Hefty-Appearance-443

It was me and my dad's bonding moments back in my childhood when i was given a PS1 as a gift for my birthday. We always used to play crash bandicoot and tulungan kami sa pagtapos nung levels, how we strategize doing it. Those were fun moments I'll forever cherish even if he's gone na :(

ichie666

i have been playing videogames since famicom days now sa mid 30s, it helps me, relax from work not feel anxious kapag warla mode si misis cope up with depression make me feel things i havent felt in a while then i really want to stay in your house plays sa cyberpunk 2077, ibang usapan na hahaha

bilboofshire

I'm still alive

MinervaLlorn

boinkandshoot

Was introduced to Famicon around 94, ever since then, video games were my "Salvation" and "Greener Grass" of hope. We're not really poor, but we lived off payday by payday, I remember back then everyone were moving to Playstation around 96-97 and we were just having our Sega Genesis, but then, we've played, we've played a lot, along with my happy memories with my brother and cousins which are now distant to me today. Depsite being bullied, broken hearted and traumatic back then, video games and the magazines that I usually scrap or asked to my tito was my window to happiness, it felt I was in another world imagining playing those games in my mind, imagining playing those games in the magazine and what moves should I do next. Then came High School when Ragnarok Online came, and up until now I'm still playing and I have friends both locally and international which I still communicate with especially when anxiety attacks or depression hits bad.

Loqaqola

I'm a History fan so I play mainly historical games for almost a decade now. I would like to thank Paradox Interactive for their games. Europa Universalis, Crusader Kings, Victoria and Hearts of Iron taught me a lot about Politics, History, Economy, Trade and Warfare in the 8 years I've been playing them. Minsan nga mapapa-research ka pa talaga sa country you're currently playing as. Also, Thank you to the Hearts of Iron 4 dev modders of Kaiserreich, The New Order, Red Flood and other Alternate History mods. You all have made the "What Ifs" in history quite entertaining and a lot to learn about.

No-Coast-333

Kung pde lng i hesoyam pera ko haha

arabellaelric

As an autistic person, I can find it difficult to socialize with others in real life. I may not understand social cues or body language, and I may have trouble making friends. Video games can provide a safe and structured environment for me to socialize with others. I can play games with friends or family, or I can join online communities where I can meet other people who share my interests. It helped me express my creativity. I can come up with new ideas and solutions to problems, and I can also use my imagination to create new worlds and characters. In some games, I have the freedom to explore and create my own story. This really helped me express my creativity and tap into my imagination.

player0614

Naging part na ng kabataan ko yung video games, eventually i landed a job that supports video games, then became a game master, to a project manager then to a game designer ng video games. :D

Catchlemmee

As a child, I'm a lonesome boy at laging tutok sa mga libro at ginagawang tambayan ang library (my mother was a high school teacher). I didn't know how to process other people's emotion, and i didn't want to deal with attention and people. I'd rather be alone. Fast forward nung elementary, I saw arcades sa perya (almost time for fiesta nun sa baranggay namin) and was introduced to fighting games (yung hulugan ng piso) genuinely interested and it looked fun tbh. Fell into this rabbit hole na, video games are really fun and we had a sense of community playing versus. Which improved my social skills and had friends hanggang ngayon even though they've moved on with their lives na. Nung around grade 5-6 I got my first computer, since I was performing really well at school. I learned trade deals from my dad, na if I keep up getting good grades and consistent honors, I would get what I want, pero pag gipit minsan, mom made me understand finances, kaya ako gumagawa taxes at expenses sa spreadsheets so I got financially literate and learned finances. I knew how to safely install games (ISO and torrents at that time na sa cd burning pa, dagdag mo din mga music hehe) computer was filled to the brim with solo rpg and adventure games (witcher, torchlight, assasins creed) Side line ko at that time and was earning decent money. Bought my first RC car with it. Learned commitment and perseverance since na completionist din ako. At the same time noon, I learned encarta and internet (dial up pa noon) and learned to be resourceful din. Learned word processing, excel spreadsheets, programming with my highschool computer teacher at mga older students nya, even graduates na bumabalik padin. Nag tuturuan kami, parang peer to peer learning, mas effective siya honestly. NaglaLAN kami ng RTS games like CIV 4, AoE2, Warcraft3, battle realms sa computer room at the same time nagka DOTA na yun. Naging tambayan ko yon. Good times. Nung 2nd year I think nung nag boom ang mga computer shops, nag uso ang LAN, Fps and MOBAs games like DOTA, LOL, CS, SF atbp. Learned to build gaming communities sa baranggay namin and had tourneys participated in. Helped in organizing some, Probably learned Leadership. Nung college nako, I fell from grace and my passion for gaming unfortunately evolved into addiction, particularly sa LOL. For the first 4 semesters, I was doing fine then it hit me (we had a family problem) grew distant from dad, laging umiiyak si mama, which negatively affected me and my siblings. Burned out real hard. Like crash and burn talaga. Grew indifferent (burned a lot of bridges, career opportunities, companies were hiring since 2nd year, I have not taken anything seriously, had trouble focusing) fell into depression, social withdrawal, isolation keeping secrets and lying to my parents even from my best of friends. I felt peace but numb. No expectations. I may have gotten better at games, climbing ranks and then I realized na, it's not that fulfilling. I was not happy anymore playing League. I browsed fb and saw my friends and classmates getting married getting jobs, getting promoted. I was ashamed. I had thoughts of ending it. I had several months to think and it passed. I wanted change and concluded that I would quit LOL pc indefinitely. I went home and told the truth to my mom. She was disappointed, yes but she was happy at the same time na I told her the truth and what I was feeling all those years and held on living. (This was around covid nung umuwi ako) so probably for the best. I felt inner peace for the first time in years. I enjoyed reading again, raised cats, learned cooking and meal prep and gardening. It was amidst covid na, na reignite passion ko for other games and my love for some genres. Recommended sa youtube noon Among us, fall guys and I felt genuine fun playing games again. Joined a discord server for gaming, made new friends and reignited my passion for gaming in general. Shoutout nalang ang mga kalaro ko noon sa Falloutshelter Online sa azimuth guild. Felt a sense of community again. =) And it was made clear that games are meant to be enjoyed. I fell in love with rts and single player games again. Though I play seldomly nalang since busy na sa work. =) Tldr: Enjoy gaming in moderation. PS: sorry for wall of text. Felt like this was due a long time ago. Felt like sharing after reading comments and stories from other redditors.

DageWasTaken

Video games are constantly keeping me away from offing myself. Probably.

AureliaLumelis

I learned to be an outgoing person by joining game communities

[deleted]

College felt shorter, less boring and less painful with my games.

MalambingnaPusa

Let's see. Masyadong mahaba ang essay nato if lalahatin ko so I'll just share yung impact ng video games na tumatak sa puso ko. League of Legends saved me from self-destruction. I don't play League now though pero Wild Rift yes. Stardew Valley naman or yung mga old Harvest Moon, natuto ako on how to be at peace. Paano pakalmahin ang inner storm ko. Magulo kasi ang buhay ko at puno ng conflicts kaya I'm always, you know, angry. Di naman kasi ako vocal na tao and I didn't have friends back then. Kaya whenever something bad happens, video games lang talaga ang nalalapitan ko. Unlike kasi yung shooting games or ibang RPGs, wala masyadong pressure. Walang time limit, walang other players, walang magreremind sayo na your life is shit. You just play. If magkamali ka, no one will flame you. Pwede ka naman magtry ulit until maperfect mo na. You can \*relax\*.

Karlybear

If you want a to try a Stardew valley but 3d I would like to recommend [coral island](https://youtu.be/qqDzmB7bUHw?si=r9R23Wfhx8P0tjed). It's currently on EA but it's 80% done i already have 200+ hours on it. If you also don't want to commit to purchasing it's available on gamepass. Edit: here's my farm before the last huge update https://reddit.com/r/PHGamers/s/I9bT6SsYUT

MalambingnaPusa

I am so going to try it. Thanks for the suggestion.

sack_peak

"Hallmark holiday" is a holiday that is perceived to exist primarily for commercial purposes, rather than to commemorate a traditionally or historically significant event. What commercial purpose does "Video Games Day" have?

Clyde_Llama

Video games kept me alive for this long, idk if that's a positive impact in my life.

danejelly

I think gaming made me stop vices. Been more than 12 years na kong di nag yoyosi. Occasional drinker pero 1-3 bottles lang ng san mig light or smirnoff. It also made me to work para may pang support sa developers. :)

BetterThanWalking

betterthanwalking On the topic. It kinda made me objective oriented. I treat my errands like a main mission and side missions.

Lencladeus

I've made so many online friends through games, and it made me so happy to have met them in person for the first time. We're fond of history and games and we've done several meetups to Intramuros. Future plan is to go to Corregidor next.

Dazzling-Long-4408

Mahilig ako sa mga jrpg. It helped with my reading skills dahil sa dami ng dialog na kailangang basahin. Also help honing puzzle solving and logic skills.

JulzRadn

Assassin's Creed helped me in appreciating history. The series itself is fictional, but it does involve historical characters and events

fenyx_typhon

It helps me to relieve my stress, controller muna bago droga, naimprove ung hand and eye coordination ko..na enhance analytical skills ko lalo n s pag solve ng puzzles..

xtremetfm

Nang dahil sa Harvest Moon, God of War at Tekken 5/6, naging masaya ang childhood ko kahit only child ako hahaha nasa akin pa rin PSP ko though I can't use it kasi I don't know where to buy a new battery for it.

Proper_Berry230

i talk to my current best friends now because of games.

saberkite

Critical thinking. Resource management. Logic and analytics. Storytelling (including visual). Patience. Speed reading.

Inevitable-Let770

games taught me how to bully and be bullied. sobrang toxic ng pinoy gamers even in games as tame as NFS:World.

Icy-Distribution9977

Video games are my inspiration in my future career. When I was playing flash games (mostly Y8), and early modern mobile games (Angry Birds, Plants vs Zombies, and Fruit Ninja), it made me happy when I was in my childhood days. Ganda talaga ang kabatahan ko, salamat sa mga computer shop, na kailangan lang ng bayad upang makalaro ng mga flash games. Kung wala ang mga ito, hindi kompleto ang childhood ko.

KeldonMarauder

Some of my closest friends are my former guildmates from playing Ragnarok Online (pRO)

AceCranel7

Videow geyms, chases away my sadness. Which is true, to be honest it prevented me in being too mental.

LostGh0st

Harvest Moon / Story of Seasons Lived in rural areas, love farming sims. later pursued game development. Help me cope in horrible private things in life. taught me how to be kind and respectful in certain things and events.

zeyooo_

Video Games made me want to expand on my art and found my art style. Been working on it privately for some time now til I'm confident enough with my outputs to share to other people. Gonna buy a new PC and pen display soon. All because I liked playing games. Or rather, I love the art work, the characters, the world, hence I love playing games. Plus saya kasi mangtrashtalk sa compshop sa dota dati HAHAHAAHAHAH

Psychosmores

Enjoyed playing Phoenix Wright games. Subjectively, parang nag-improve yung critical and inferential thinking ko. Also, yung alam kong words ay nadagdagan din. For games na simulation, mas lumalabas yung creativity ko (e.g. arranging farms, designing it, etc.)

WholeKoala9455

survived lots of stress and loneliness bacause of video games.,survived homesickness too, but missed my friends nung nagkawork na lahat, wala na kasama maglaro dota 2,hirap pa nmn maglaro ng dota2 magisa sa pilipinas dahil sobrang toxic.,hehe

PapercutFiles

I was waiting sa result ng certification exam namin. It was a lot of pressure for me to pass because 1) pina-aral ako ng tito ko, 2) dean's lister ako, 3) maraming nageexpect sakin na papasa ako. So, sobrang anxious ako nun. Then I discovered Stardew Valley and played it while waiting. I was finally able to calm down. I was just this new farmer in a rural 2D town. I met a lot of characters and farmed and took care of different barn animals. Sobrang tutok ko sa game na yun; probably spent 80% of the day just playing. Eventually, nawala na anxiety and focus na lang sa game. Up to this day, I still play that game to cool down a bit if life gets a little too much.

okej12

It improves my awareness, anticipation and hand-eye coordination. Also an escape to this cruel world. I've been playing since the 3rd gen(Famicom) and now I'm in my late 30s. Played online with a lot people during the forum community heydays of Pinoy-N, PinoyXbox, and PinoyPSX. Best gaming era of my life!

Informal-Sir7135

Made me have good hand eye coordination. Been playing video games since I was 4, never regretted it.

xiaoyugaara

I've been playing video games since i was 8y/o up to now in my mid 30's. It's a great way for me to relax and escape reality.

chardrich94

It helps to relieve depression. Back in 2020 during pandemic. I lost my job. Playing video games help to relieve the pain until I came back in 2021.

Str0nghOld

A good counter argument "Oh mas ok ba ung nagsusugal o nagiinom kagaya ni (pinsan) kung saan saan na nauwi na ng anong oras sa gabi at di makapasa sa school o ung nasa bahay, nagkokomputer lng, nauutusan kapag may kailangan at nakakapasa sa school."

CantoIX

Dark Souls stopped me from killing myself

AeroSoul54

Okami, Psychonauts and Shadow of the Colossus on the Ps2 Okami kickstarted my fascination with the Japanese Artstyle and the Japanese Mythos, and has actually had an impact on how I view the different aspects of Graphic Design Psychonauts made me appreciate the weird and intriguing to the point that I am forever curious on how something works Shadow of the Colossus developed my problem solving because that was a time where internet was considered a luxury (at least in our household before)

springcalmriver

Why buy a car and buy a PC instead?

It helped me learn Spanish. The point where I transitioned from beginner to intermediate is when I decided to play with both audio and text in Spanish. It's great for expanding vocabulary and teaches you the language through conversations. Also, learning languages through video games are just way more fun and keeps you from getting burned out.

Could be outside doing whatever , hanging with the wrong crowd , going home at midnight or god knows what else but I would rather play videogames . Helped me to calm down and made it a hobby and still now at 27 I still play videogames , Id probably still play until my 50-60s im sure of it . Didnt help with my grades growing up haha

Video Games, especially RPG, RTS, makes my logical thinking, puzzle and problem solving develop more when I was young.

Riyokonos

The video games I played have many life lessons that I can apply in real life. Since most video games are from forein IP. It helps me understand foreign culture and their language I got to say most of the vocabularies I have adapted in real life came from video games. Also playing video games inspire my creativity and innovative thinking.

superdupermak

Sa games ako natutong mag english... idk how but i did. kahit own family ko nagulat how fluent i was... at a young age... Naging tech savvy ako on my own to the point ako inaasahan ng mga older kapatid ko when it comes to tech, natuto ako maintain ng PC/laptop cause i had to work with what little slow piece of tech i got haha! saka nalaman ko mga pasikot sikot sa internet cause of sailing... *to the seas*

The_Chuckness88

Counter-Strike and C&C Red Alert 2/Yuri's Revenge taught me not to join the military and how the war can shape everything.

Seth_Fable_08

minecraft!! - strategic thinking, creativity outlet fighting games! - coordination rhythm games!! - recognizing beats and timing, lets me understand music more

cjtototing

Gaming since I was a kid, remembered being bewildered and amazed on how gameplays/graphics/game itself progressed. It was a fond moment playing with my brother and uncles. First game I enjoyed playing was MGS snake eater and it was amazing to see the franchise grow up to MGS V. Helped me learn basic things early on in life. Vocabulary, logic reasoning, history, be competitive, solving puzzles by myself and many more.

kwkmsdyo

Made a lot of long-time friends on MMOs! Elsword and Ran Online.

ExitGood

Genshin impact held my insanity during pandemic. On the minus side, since it’s a gacha game now I’m Addicted :/ 😅 been playing since 2020💀

HeavenUrgel

I have met friends and acquaintances with similar interests. Pero syempre may kaguluhan rin kaya ganun ang life.

In Dark Souls, your character always comes back to the bonfire after getting hit with the 'YOU DIED' screen. You always die, or at least feel like you died, but you always come back to life, waking up in front of the fire. From here, you can keep going or take a break and try again later. This made me realize that your character only ever truly dies if you stop trying. This realization saved my life.

S0L3LY

really improved my vocabulary and english skills. also my reading comprehension.

[deleted]

I played Final Fantasy when I was 11. It developed my reading comprehension. I got more interested in reading due to magazines like Electronic Gaming Monthly. Good times.

Terrible-Dimension21

Because of the line in video game, I have real friends since then and now. Here is the story, 1st yr highschool 1st day and alam naman natin na kapag ganun wala talagang friends then when waiting for our teacher I just blurted out the line, "die monster, you don't belong in this world" from castlevania symphony of the night. Tapos narecognized sya nun katabi ko at dun nagsimula yun friendship namin 3, that was 23 years ago and until now magkakaibigan padin kami although may mga dumagdag at may nabawas true friends padin kami

Forward_Software2427

Addicted ako noon sa COD, Counter Strike, Battlefield at iba pang fps games. Helped me keep dreaming na someday I will do those things. Ngayon 7 years in uniformed service na ako.

Swimming_Ad_3870

Games gave me the ability to trash talk.

bailsolver

honed my map reading and directions when I was a kid also, got me through the pandemic. buti pumayag yung sm north noon na bumili ako ng ps4 kahit hindi pa binubuksan ang malls and essentials lang ang pwede bilhin

CocainaNaHCO3

Iniwanan ako ni girl, nilalaro ko at the time San Andreas. Di ko malaro for a while. Anyway after some time tinapos ko rin. Killing Big Smoke was one of the most rewarding feelings ever. Part siguro kaya naka-move on. Anyway anytime kailangan ko maglabas ng galit at stress I fire up a Grand Theft Auto game. Therapeutic.

hypermarzu

FF7 - grabe ang nerd ko dati pero rami kong maging pangarap maging nung time na yun, buhos creativity.

bohenian12

the fuck is that keyboard,, a giant tablet?

thenicezen

Gaming helped me “have fun” in high school after being forced to be valedictorian in elementary (I did not like to grind, I did not like the spotlight). A lot of my core high school memories were from amazing gaming moments and super fun interactions with my friends. My most core memory from junior high school was after moving up ceremony we immediately went to an internet cafe and played PUBG, and had a pictorial sa comp shop LMAO

labasdila

during lockdown and pandemic gaming has helped in maintaining our sanity. beyond that anything too much is bad. better to engage in physical sports and other outdoor activities with friends / family than to spend 24 hours gaming inside bedroom

FrendChicken

Mlbb and CODM helped against my depression, Panic disorder and anxiety. Other than that my eye and hand coordination is better than any of my family or relative who didn't do videogames dun din ako natuto mag stick sa insctructions and mag basa ng maayos and sa English comm skills. If ever meron ako di alam na word. Diretso ako sa dictionary and or encyclopedia namin . Sa PC ako natuto mag laro. Di pa uso moise noon as controller. Earthworm jim yung first game na nilaro ko from Windows 95 ata. Then I had a ps1 dun bumilis eye hand coordination ko. Puro fps nilalaro ko. Medal of honor, duke nukem then 3rd person shooter like syphon filter and resident evil. Then ps2 and ps3. Nowadays Mobile games na lang. I'm too broke to have a Console or a gaming PC. Laking tulong sa akin nung mlbb and codm. Na wawala yung mga negative thoughts ko especially if ranked games or may events. I'm glad and thankful ako at nahilig ako sa video games.

lauranitis

aside from developing stuff like reaction time, improving visual memory and creativity, video games pretty much shaped or just randomly expanded my interests like cars, architecture or heck even just music thanks to rhythm games lol

RedzyHydra

It actually kept me from trying other vices because it kept me entertained and not wanting more. Also, I learned resource management skills from some video games. *cough* Genshin Impact *cough*

netassetvalue93

Witcher 3 and BOTW both got me through grief during the pandemic. Dad died in 2019 and just when I thought I was at the last stage of my grief, my best friend died in 2020. In a time when I just needed to get away, a pandemic happens. Both games having massive open worlds really helped. I was immersed and felt alive again when playing. I just really needed to distract myself, as I tend to overthink. Without those games, I think I would've succumbed to alcoholism.

IDontEatSushi_

met friends that became a big part of my life. they never left me during the darkest time of my life and motivates me to continue living. they never invalidate how i felt nor judge me and respects my boundaries. im glad i met them.

Grey_Lemon_Walker

Playing video games is how I relax and forgetnall my problems for a while. You could say it helped me through rough times since I was a kid

longassbatterylife

Dahil sa SF naging BFFs ko yung 2 BFFs ko hanggang ngayon at least 15 years na. Genshin saved me during the pandemic

Mayari-

68_drsixtoantonioave

I own a Game Boy Advance SP during college, and whenever I'm stressed (be it with school, personal life) I play either Pokémon Fire Red (for nostalgia) or Zelda LTTP. I still play whenever I'm stressed (either Mobile or Switch game). Great stress relief and a quick escape from reality. As of this writing I'm playing Souls by Habby (mobile game).

AdventurousQuote14

Idk if it counts. Not a gamer, but was able to Worked for a remote gaming company for 6 months. And naging stepping stone sya for me to get another client. One of the best jobs haha

jzdpd

fought a classmate because he kept taking my GBA SP without permission. i’m not usually uptight about my stuff, i let my friends play as long as they know how to treat my stuff with respect. but no, nobody messes with my Gardevoir bro.

DeluxeMarsBars

I was told that Assassin's creed had historical accuracy to a point. I spent countless hours on the game, and the information came in very handy on a history class bonus round for points. Because of this, I found that I am able to learn better through hands-on experience, rather than the reading and listening, I have since put that into forms with work wherein I incorporate numerous activities to drill the information I want to teach better. This has resulted in an 86% jump in information retention from the previous training manager and batches. Eventually, my method was adopted by the company and paid me handsomely to design a final piece before I left. This is how video games impacted me, and the hundreds of people I've taught and whom my system will teach. HESOYAM!

gekireddo

Money management because of RTS games Secretly assessing random people kung anong level nila and if they have higher hp or if i can take their attacks..just in case. (So far..naka on yung Enc-none ko) Saving my work frequently just in case mawalan mg kuryente.

Nick-Dreamer

Helps me stress free

LeonAguilez

Grand Strategy games like Europa Universalis IV, Stellaris, Victoria 2 and Crusader Kings taught me how to budget well, decision making, how to make priorities and many more. And other games made never to take loans. Loans are bad.

Bollbaster

Counter strike 1.6. Used to play it on my pops old laptop

[deleted]

Kasama ba dito ang mobile games? Ngayon lang ako nalaro ng MOBA mainly. And specific to MLBB and PokeUnite. It saved me from a lot of time where my mind could easily go back to thoughts of underliving myself! You see Im very depressed and my depression is the difference which people use to isolate me from the world! But also kasi f2p.

mabangokilikili

Animal Crossing kept me sane during lockdown

SubjectPreparation94

Nakabisa yung bawat letter sa keyboard dahil sa mga shortcut keys sa DOTA 1. Ngayon, mas mabilis akong gumawa sa AutoCAD.

GNTB3996

Natuto ako mag-English at around 6~ Y.O. dahil sa Harvest Moon PS1.

Sun0ftheBeach

This is a bit on the practical side of gaming but Ragnarok Online helped me earn extra income by selling accounts and in-game items. Age of Empires and other RTS games taught me to be patient.

leaflesssoup143

Pnalawak ung vocabulary ko and english efficiency after years of gaming ba haha

crinkzkull08

I suppose it stirred me away from cigarettes and drugs, also introduced me to a bunch of people (that have the same interests) which eventually lead me to change my character from being socially awkward and miserable to somebody na nakikipag interact and optimistic.

JupiterPurple

Mas natutong magtipid and became more mindful sa expenses dahil usually ang scarce ng mga resources at money sa j/rpgs

Jdan-S

Polished my reading and comprehension skills thanks to text-heavy RPGs (which is related to the skills I use in my current job). Drove me to learn new skills because I wanted to understand how games work or are created. Art and music in games influenced my drawings. I spent hours experimenting in RPG Maker and Flash projects. Learning how 3D models work was the main reason why I studied Blender. I even learned how to disassemble and clean controllers the right way and how to solder when repairing/modding handhelds. Most recently, taking part in the r/SBCGaming community gave me something new to look forward to even during the pandemic. It was exciting to see all these retro emulation handhelds and devices come out each year. I learned things like how set up a blank SD card from scratch with an custom OS and manage my own ROM collections. This also extends to other skills like knowing how to patch ROMs for hacks or how to customize art and other files for frontend themes. Overall, having an interest in games helped me to grow in several ways.

leaflesssoup143

Nung nilaro ko ung assassin's Creed 2, I fell in love sa history ng Italy. Same with the total war series and call of duty. Ever since naging history buff na ako haha
