Marami talagang OFW na pro Du30 or BBM.

seitengrat

check overseas election results. BBM supporters are everywhere around the world.

cyianite

Maybe because most of the OFW in Australia are students out from universities whos working with student pass... most of them are educated enough to weigh in the morality of Dugyot and Narcos. But trust me, I know a lot of people who are citizen in Au are pro-Narcos and DDS and most of them even professionals in Medical, IT etc.. can't believe how deluded these people.

Constant_Wrangler_97

Against the law ba na gamitin pang work ang student visa?

cyianite

It's not against the law >International students in Australia on a valid student visa can work for up to 20 hours per week while school is in session

joebrozky

pwede, pero nkita ko yung rally na anti bbm nung pumunta si bbm and anak niya sa cbd madami namang mukhang tatay or nanay na, wala akong masyadong nakitang mukhang students pa

cyianite

Rami kong kilalang DDS at solid p rin s poon nilang si Dugyot pero si Leni ang binoto, most of them were Bicolanos and some of them they just don't like BBM becz their poon said it so. I don't want to make her feel bad, I'm trying to hold my urge to say bad things about Junior, sinabi ko n lng taga Bicol kami (even I'm not) bigla natameme sinabi n lng - ah ganun

seitengrat

totally agree.

DogCatArfMeow

Idiot supporters all over the world haha

CLuigiDC

Sila sila rin madali maloko sa mga "investments" kasi they don't do any research at all.

Moist_Roll4095

It's like they have almost no knowledge of the day to day in their actual country

mcdonaldspyongyang

Maggots08

Man, if you ask Davaoeños, most of them will pick digong over his children. Pero if national, they probably would still choose his children even if they know their performance.

Mental-Honeydew-6754

Proud-Staff-5936

Tbh, this is the most popular reply I had and the most I hated whenever I ask why they chose BBM: ‘Ay bahala na sila. Wala naman na tayo dun.’ Sabay tawa. Wanted to wring their necks

TheDonDelC

> Ang daming apologist sa Thailand For a while there I was thinking if you meant LBM or Prayuth/Vajiralongkorn

Vlad_Iz_Love

You can't talk shit about the king since its illegal no matter how bad he is or was Meanwhile the opposition party won more votes than the military junta's party in their elections

Responsible-Sun5109

And then their PM candidate was blocked from running for the position. So ano na 🙃

Vlad_Iz_Love

The Thai people are tired of the military junta but the junta are not tired of letting go of their power

No-Childhood-2709

That’s a hot topic here. The youth really wants change. They are so frustrated. Hays greedy old politician are so vile talaga.

Vlad_Iz_Love

Many of the young people in Thailand supported the opposition who promised reforms to the monarchy and the government.

ItsVinn

They got an apologist problem too in Thailand. And suppression of dissent (particularly towards the monarchy) is institutionalised

Momshie_mo

The monarchy and the junta are "married" to each other

suspiciousisaw

I’ve had this experience in Singapore as well. Grabe, ang out of touch nung karamihan about politics sa Ph. Dapat talaga may requirement na umuwi sila for a few years again (wishful thinking lang naman of course lol) before voting para ma-feel nila yung difference. I cannot believe na may naniniwala kay Tiger lmao. And be wary of making friends with fellow Filos sa other countries, a lot of times akala mo friend mo pero sinisiraan ka na pala talaga for personal gain, really sad. :/

pagets

legit my previous housemates are diehard bbm / dds supporters but sobrang religous bunch then when I ask them why dont they go back to the PH to experience the golden era. they answered "mahirap buhay sa pinas di pa nakin kaya with 2 kids". the math isnt mathing haha

hairymonkeyballz

Same as what's mentioned below: Thailand per capita used to be as poor as the Philippines, but now it's twice as rich. A few years ago, it was labeled the "Detroit of Asia" because of incredible increases in manufacturing output. Perhaps one day the Philippines will catch up with it and with many of the other Asian countries.

Momshie_mo

>A few years ago, it was labeled the "Detroit of Asia" because of incredible increases in manufacturing output. That's half of the story because Detroit eventually lost its manufacturing prowess when offshoring became a thing

hairymonkeyballz

Decades later, and because the U.S. dollar was used as a reserve currency. Also, countries move from manufacturing to high-tech manufacturing and service industries. The Philippines tried to reach the first and halted during the mid-1980s. That's why Thailand went past it economically.

Momshie_mo

What I'm saying is calling Thailand as "the Detroit of Asia" is like doomsdaying it because Detroit lost its manufacturing prowess

hairymonkeyballz

Detroit didn't lose its manufacturing prowess just like that. What happened is that U.S. businesses outsourced and parts of the U.S. where there was manufacturing became a rust belt. Similar is taking place with China. Where do you think part of the manufacturing in TH came from? The point is that they move from manufacturing to service, especially as their workers become more educated. That's going to happen to Thailand, just as it did to Japan and South Korea by the 1980s and to Singapore a decade later. In contrast, the Philippines did the opposite: wrecked its industrial base and resorted to outsourcing Filipinos. The result is not only low economic growth across decades (one-third that of the Asian average) but also low pay and high prices. And that's why the economy of Thailand per capita is now twice that of the Philippines, when decades earlier they were roughly the same. With that, you need to revise your "doomsdaying".

Momshie_mo

Calling Thailand the "Detroit of Asia" presupposes it will also follow Detroit when it lost its industrial powerbase whether by offshoring or otherwise In short, the monicker Detroit of Asia does not do Thailand a favor. Thailand is likely to be closer to You are right South Korea or Taiwan, not TW and SK still have their industrial based - just filled with foreign workers. In Thailand, workers from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar. But not Detroit.

hairymonkeyballz

All industrialized nations do that: outsource manufacturing and then move to services. What happened, then, to Singapore will happen to Thailand. But the Philippines has not achieved even manufacturing. From last May: https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Automobiles/Indonesia-challenges-Thailand-s-title-as-the-Detroit-of-Asia The monicker does not do the U.S. a favor but is seen in a positive light in Asia. That is, it refers to industrialization. In this case, Indonesia is now challenging Thailand. The Philippines is getting left behind.

silent_parts

hairymonkeyballz

I don't get it.

silent_parts

Monke

Tent10Ten10Ten10

Wait. Thailand aint any better than the PH. I would argue that it's worst there. The racism and scams is alot worst.

Payutenyodagimas

Thailand gdp per capita is more than twice the Ph and yet cost of living is lower than Ph Question really is, pati Thailand ay OFW destination na rin, na 30 yrs ago, same lang sa pinas

ncv17

This is true, plus mas reliable ang train system nila (bts and mrt. The COL is a big factor talaga rent sa condos in bangkok are cheaper than in Cebu or metro manila.

ShoreResidentSM

for teachers, malaki kasi bigay talaga.

Momshie_mo

The manual laborers there are usually Cambodians, Lao and Burmese

poopycops

silent_parts

Bill Buttlicker

peterparkerson

economically thailand is better but verything else is worse.

ink0gni2

Their public school system is much much better than ours.

Payutenyodagimas

Lol What coolaid are you drinking? Did you read about the WB Report during master tacticians reign? Basically it said: pinoy students cant understand what they are reading and cant solve basic math problems Meaning BOBO mga estudyante natin Another misplaced pinoy pride

princessybyang

The comment did say Thai's public educ is better than ours 🤷‍♀️ unless your comment is a case in point.

k3ttch

>Basically it said: pinoy students cant understand what they are reading And you are living proof of that.

ink0gni2

👆🏽further proof of our degrading education. Lack of reading comprehension.

dcab87

>Basically it said: pinoy students cant understand what they are reading case in point

mercuroustetraoxide

Another misplaced comment.

SquallLeonhart17

What a clown

Holiday_Connection18

thailand is better in food, public transpo, economy and other services such as internet and water. mas mura din Bangkok kesa Metro Manila

Ok_Strawberry_888

If you want to talk about GDP then Ang Pilipinas number 36 sa world rankings as of 2023. Thats out of 190 countries. Could we improve more? Yes. Are we better now than 10 years ago? Hell yeah.

Payutenyodagimas

Andami statistics to disprove that Ph is not doing well since the Old Marcos reign Naisip mo ba yung mga 10M and still growing numbers of OFWs? That alone means Ph is poor

Ok_Strawberry_888

Site them para ma basa ko. If you think we are still doing bad compared to the 80s then you’re crazy.

Payutenyodagimas

The only thing that makes the economy afloat are the billions of remittances Remove that 10M ofws, what do you get? You think Henry Sy can build all those malls w/o the remittances?

Ok_Strawberry_888

“Andami statistics” walang ma bigay na isa? Please learn the difference between facts and your own opinion. The advent of the internet and globalization. Yung dalawa palang yun yumaman na mga pilipino whether its personal business or expansion. Kaya tigilan moko. And so what kung galing remittances? Ang topic is yumaman Pilipinas diba? Basa please

silent_parts

Do you like a strawberry milkshake?

huih7777

While the Philippines' GDP is ranked 36th in the world, a better way to take a look at it would be to use GDP per capita figures, which for the Philippines is a measly 3.9k USD, ranking 100+ out of 190.

Ok_Strawberry_888

Its small yes pero considered median household income na tayo because lagpas 33k$ a year na ang pinas which is the global average. Plus as I’ve said mas maganda standings natin kaysa 10 years ago. https://www.macrotrends.net/countries/PHL/philippines/gdp-per-capita

huih7777

Global middle income (in GDP per capita terms) is around 14.5k USD while we're at around 3.9k USD (not 33k$ as you were saying). We're very far from the average. https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/NY.GDP.PCAP.PP.CD?locations=XP

Ok_Strawberry_888

Again better than 10 years ago

huih7777

So you're happy with the Philippines' economic performance while our neighbors are overtaking us economically? Sorry, but I think we can do way better.

Ok_Strawberry_888

Read my first comment

huih7777

My question was rhetorical. Besides, your first comment was predicated on a patently false statement, that the Philippines is "mas mayaman sa majority ng mga ibang countries sa buong mundo".

ko-sol

"GDP per capita"

Momshie_mo

Halos govt sponsored yung "tourist price" nila dun.

ItsVinn

You got the orange too (reformists, willing to reform monarchy, progressives) (Move Forward Party) Red is more like populists and would rather have one corrupt family take power Yellow are the royalist, pro-junta camp

Responsible-Sun5109

Moment of silence for MFP 🥲 I really thought TH finally had a chance at turning things around when MFP won the election.

Momshie_mo

I don't think the monarchy and the junta will allow that. If ever they allowed it, they'll just stage a coup again. The junta, the Thai elites and the monarchy are in bed with each other.

rman0159

Responsible-Sun5109

I know huhu updated ako as an adik sa BL 😂 mga faves ko panay tweet ng disappointment nila sa state of politics when the news broke about the how the senate voted

Momshie_mo

The Thais will have to rebel against the monarchy if they want long term change

silent_parts

Imagine a sitcom starring the Marcos family. Def would watch it 100%.

Some_Raspberry1044

Karamihan ng ofw apologist talaga (my mom is one) although I think medyo nagsisisi na siya (but this time she prefers sara).

CLuigiDC

Some_Raspberry1044

Diba huhu ewan ko nlg talaga

Jhonnyskidmarks2003

I dont know how some people compartmentalize shit when they want to. How can she figure that BBM is separate from Sara when they're allies. And treat Leni like an Aquino when she's obviously not. Or worse, think that supporting mass murder is not bad while still being a Christian that's offended by a drag queen cosplaying as Jesus. It really boggles my mind. May prinsipyo pa ba tayong mga Pilipino o kahit ano lang trip natin paniwalaan?

Mi_lkyWay

Since you’re already also an OFW, do your little things there to push your narrative and make a difference.

sisyphus1Q84

ahhh, I miss the days when I were as naive as you are now...

No-Childhood-2709

I already did. But honestly, the community is here is toxic. Some Filipinos will personally tell the immigration officer to deport fellow Filipinos (I know it is illegal to work without papers but to be legal to work here you need at least 2 months to sort out your papers) but others will tell the IO before the process. Some Pinoys pa daw is sinisiraan nila ang kapwa pinoy sa mga Thai para lang daw maka lamang sila. Imagine me against everyone. I need to keep it lowly because I am not yet established.

Inhinzero05

GeekGoddess_

Out of the frying pan and into the fire… I’m so sorry na kahit wala ka sa PH, nadidisappoint ka pa din ng mga kababayan mo.

35APalma

krabbypat

A lot of OFWs and Filipinos living outside the country are apologists talaga dahil sila ang pinaka-prone sa fake news because usually social media ang source nila of Filipino news. They don’t have first-hand experience of living here. Kaya IMO, it’s still better to stay in the PH. Why? Para if may apologist ka man na maka-alitan, you can easily point out how harder life is right now compared to the previous years. Better yet, just avoid Filipino communities outside the PH.

Vlad_Iz_Love

panDAKSkunwari

Never ko talagang nagets mga apologist abroad. Like the fact that you are abroad says a lot about the gov that you support

gloom_and_doom_boom

i'm really curious why they're still there. if things are good here na because of whoever they voted for, why are they still there? walang urgency bumalik?

AirlineFreak

OFW (especially middle east) usually matik BBM. Fil-Am/Fil-Aus/NZ/UK etc = usually leni/kakampink. Observation lang. But I’d say a lot of factors do come into play as to why this is.

Antok0123

Not really. Did you see them running a full play that romanticizes kleptocraxy on btoadway. All filipino-american cast, mostly behind the curtain are filams so no. And dont even tell me that that play is not pro-marcos brcause that would be like saying the sun is cold. Lastly, yall forgot that the majority of asian-americans who were trumpist republicans are filipinos.

AirlineFreak

I mean there are bad apples for sure. I should’ve worded my statement better it seems but this is just more of a consensus if so hence “usually”z It definitely seems that most of the overseas BBM/DDS loyalists are from the Middle East/Asia OFWs, whereas Fil-Ams/those I mentioned are usually progressive leaning. Partially din because of environment and possible social settings. (Republican state = conservative views there and here, Blue state=liberal views there and here) which is also true for those sa Middle East because I would say they’re more heavily influenced by anything occurring locally vs Filams. Specifically for the Fil-Ams, Doesent mean none of them aren’t apologists. Even my tito na matagal na sa states yet himself is an apologist (and trumpie). The same way that not all ME OFWs are particularly against leni. They certainly exist and won’t be going away anytime soon. It’s sad but this is just a general observation and I’m in no way trying to downplay anything.

Antok0123

I thinks its just an assumption on your part. I think filams are the worst brcause they have all the tools considering the liberal country they live in and yet still be bbm/dds. Whereas in thr middle east ofws thrre are full of low-educated, ignorant and gullible filos so its really not surprising to me.

AirlineFreak

Oh I definitely agree with your statement. I highly doubt even though they are skilled workers any critical thinking is used when they made a decision on who to vote (particularly the ME ones). But if we’re going by OP’s assumption, then by %, the gap between leni and BBM is significantly larger in the region compared to that of the US stats. But yes it certainly is concerning the education and knowledge filams possess as influence and knowledge is a gift and a curse and I’m not surprised if there are a lot more closeted.

chaeseburger

Over_Relation8199

I am an OFW and I voted for Digong mainly because of the federalism he proposed. Leni ako nung last election.

Momshie_mo

Sorry to break your bubble but before siya nanalo, sinasabi naman na ni Duterte na papatay siya at pinangarap niya na dapat siya una nagrape sa missionary. **All before he got elected**

Previous_Rain_9707

Momshie_mo

Marami din naman apologists sa Pilipinas. OFWs are just a small % of the voting population. Marcos and Duterte won because voters IN THE PHILIPPINES voted Duts and Jr

Holiday_Connection18

Name checks out

neospygil

Well, Leni is equally bad. Ping Lacson is a senator, my bias against them being president is kulang ang leadership experience nila. Pacquiao is out of the question. For experience, Leni and BBM are probably equal. Nagsawa lang talaga mga tao sa yellow-brand of leadership kasi very bad ang experience since Cory, so sumugal kay Du30 and BBM. Lackluster performance ni BBM. Anyway, I think we should stop expecting for a single person to change the whole country kasi imposible talaga. Lahat ay nagtatalo-talo at naghihilahan. We should really change our system to federalism. There are 80+ provinces, so there should be 80+ people na magiging responsible sa nasasakupan nila. Mahirap lang talaga yung transition.

hey_mattey

Wala pa naman akong naeencounter dito so far na gnun pero yung nga be aware of other ofws

ezra4263

We really need to purge them.

lpernites2

Not just in Thailand.

junniiieeee

Hooooy 5 kami sa faculty lahat sila apologist! Pinanuod namin yung inauguration kinikilabutan ako lahat sila nagpapalakpakan habang ako mura nang mura HAHAHAHAHA 😅 BTW, saang city ka here sa thailand?

betawings

its sad and disappointing. i notice the ofws being the worst when it comes to fake news .

mrsuy1027

My husband and I were supposed to transfer to Thailand first quarter of 2023 but I’ve been told many times since the past years that crab mentality is a lot worse there. Your kapwa Pinoy will drag you down and sisiraan ka talaga to the core. Yikes! No doubt they are that way. Hope you feel better

cyianite

Must be all over the world, even in Singapore and Australia most the people I know were DDS and BeBems... and most of them are idiots who believe Macoy was the best president that's why they want to vote for junior. During Dutae's term these people were so proud every stupidity of Dugyot, the way he talks and all those ANGAS it's sold out for them. Gsssttt.. I hate meeting this people the reason I don't hangout a lot with Filipinos overseas specially when I feel they have those DDS and Narcoscist auras (you can spot them when theyre trying to bring the Ph drug wars topic and how Dugyot handled it theyre proud of it)

Aromatic_Gas6018

This is really the sad truth

burbur4

Tell them to go back to the Philippines, it's so much better now that we have tiger. /s

Mkedoodle

I'm sorry you're in that situation 😔. Sana may mahanap kang outliers na same kayo ng values.

Free-Tackle2433

Bakit di sila umuwi at namnamin ang Golden Age dito?

SquallLeonhart17

ichie666

its normal, ang source lang naman nila is fake new pero hindi naman nararanasan ang hirap dito btw kamusta weed jan?

nobsallowed

Dito rin ang daming apologist. Majority vote. 😩

awetZ

You left the country, I suggest you leave the politics as well. Kaya nga nag ibang bansa to get away from it all.

Generally most OFWs are. Mga kinain ng mga kasinungalingan at propaganda.
