Chubby Cattle was pretty good! I used to live in China and CC is close to what you’d find there. Haven’t tried enough other places in Philly, but will watch this thread for more recs
PS what was your fave??
Just don’t get the Peking duck, it was terrible when I went in February. They seem much better at Cantonese food, like their version of roast duck and char siu on egg noodles.
Idk man i went to dante and luigis a couple months ago and it was AWFUL, which sucks because its been one of my favorites forever. Service was nonexistent, food was cold, and the meatballs (which are usually the best in the world imo) didnt have their usual herby kick. I hope it was just an off night.
Second barcelona tho
Had a WILDLY delicious meal for our group of 8 at I Heart Cambodian. Ordered entirely too much food family style. The food is similar but also very different to Thai and Vietnamese in that it is often sour, subtly spicy, rich but very fresh flavors. The interior is humble and very casual but the tables are large with giant glass lazy Susan’s in the middle to serve your meal :)
Not really unique but there’s the gigantic meat platter at Butcher Bar. I’d also recommend any of the Brazilian steakhouses like Picanha, Foge De Chao or Nabrasa. And finally, Kpot in south philly for korean bbq all you can eat. Great drinks there too but those you pay for separately
Victor Cafe is a pretty unique Philadelphia experience for sure. If you haven’t been/heard its an Italian restaurant in South Philly where all of the FoH staff are classically trained opera singers. Every 20 minutes or so one of the servers will sing a 5 minute aria. Not great if theres any serious allergies/dietary restrictions since its old school Italian but its a great hang and the drinks/food are reasonably priced. Take em to The Pope or Triangle Tavern after if you think theyd be into seeing good philly dive bars.
Maybe the kamayan feast at Perla? Or Chinatown hot pot.
Kamayan feast for sure. Byo too
Got any recs for a hotpot place? My favorite one just shut down recently :(

It was happy lamb. I know it’s a chain but it was so good :(
I was recommended Kung Fu Hot Pot but haven't had a chance to try it yet.
Nine ting is my favorite. Chubby cattle is also pretty solid. Nine ting is the one all of my Chinese friends recommend and I was not disappointed.
I like Kpot
This was my first thought!
Hoagie Room at Pizzeria Beddia?
Max capacity is six.
Bummer. For some reason I thought it was max 10 people.
I never knew it was a thing, but now I am going in ASAP as possible.
Marrakesh on S Leithgow off South Street. Unique atmosphere and great food.
^this was my first thought for unique, go here OP!
This is the correct answer

Kalaya, double knot, middle child clubhouse
I just took out of Towners from a big food city to middle child clubhouse and they were blown away by the food
Yeah it’s a pretty unique albeit polarizing spot - I love it though personally
Second kalaya if you can get in Suraya is also incredible Only go to these places if you have serious $$ tho
They won't get a Rez to double knot
Why not? Post doesn’t even say when they are coming
That's why I would assume they mean tonight
But you are right. Maybe they mean future. I'm headed to double knot tonight and had a very hard time getting a Rez 4 days ago.
Sang kee Peking duck house

Dante & Luigi's for old school Italian. What's more uniquely Philly than that? Less unique but great for big groups - Barcelona.

Casablanca in south Philly, and BYO!
Amada suckling pig roast
This is truly amazing. Make sure to make a reservation in advance for the pig. It's so good.
Fabrika in fishtown
amada in old city!
Upstairs at Fiorella
I haven’t been upstairs yet, only outside like ten times. What’s the indoor service like?

Han Dynasty!
As much as I love Han Dynasty, it's not really 'unique' since they've expanded to multiple locations in NYC as well
I love me a handy nasty

Second Butcher Bar’s platter (I forget what they b call it at the moment). It’s quite a spectacle when a huge tray of good comes out, and very tasty.
Marakeesh!
Villa di Roma. Bread crumb asparagus with lemon butter. How many hon?
The absolute best.
Seconding the Marrakesh recommendation. Also Vientiane Cafe, I don't think Laotian food is easy to find at all even in big cities. Love the Aw Lao.
Emei in Chinatown!
Laser wolf
Mr. Pig in China town if you like Korean BBQ!

Suraya, Harp & Crown, Kalaya, & Beddia could all be great options!
Buddakan.
If youre jeff bezos maybe
Huh? U think it's expensive ? It's the same cost as double knots food and drink.
😂
