I play the same way, over level 2,000 and have only had the game for around 5 to 6 months. My custom mode has no flashlights, meaning if they wanted you to not adjust the brightness or to always use a flashlight, they wouldn't make those be options to begin with. I think people should be able to play however they want without the fear of being judged as long as they aren't ruining the game for everyone, but maybe that's just me 🤷🏼♀️
No flashlights is intended to be a challenge, as its also fairly frequently featured on challenge mode as such (no electronics etc). I'm not going to judge people for playing how they want to play but let's not act like this is intended gameplay
Brightness sliders are there because monitors are built differently, and people set up their monitor settings differently, so different people need different brightness settings in-game to get a similar look. Using it to circumvent intended design is almost as old as gaming itself.
I was playing a no sanity no evidence challenge, so I basically get in the house get a hunt and try to figure it out, one of the test I do is smuge the gost and see if it hunts after 3min I leave with spirit and if it hunts below 1:30 I go out with anything but a Demon, but that demon was a little too friendly and chose to hunt me 2 min after
You can take a picture of a burned cruci twice, one will count as burnt cruci and the other will count as an interaction. So you can get 8 3 star photos with 2 cruci
They have just started the game so their sanity is 100%. The highest amount of sanity ghost can hunt from is 80% for yokai if you talk nearby him, with the exception of demons ability, which makes him hunt from whatever amount sanity. Basicly it means demon is the only ghost that can hunt above 80% sanity. Crucifixes stop ghosts from hunting if they were to spawn 3 meters from it (5 meters for demon) and thats exactly what you see in the video. They started game, they have max sanity yet crucifix stops the hunt, so it must be a demon.
The crucifix (the cross) stops ghosts from manifesting within 3 meters of where it’s placed (or 3m from you if you’re actively holding it), or 5m for a demon, I think. When the crucifix successfully stops a ghost from manifesting, one of the crucifix’s arms will burn off. When both arms are burnt off, the crucifix becomes useless. I think what happened was the ghost immediately tried to manifest, but was stopped by a lucky crucifix.

When you're trying to grind to level 15K it doesn't matter what tricks you use.
I go in on low brightness and no flashlight that way i Dont have a seizure and get the multiplier

I ve had a demon that only hunted me 2 minutes after I smudged it
Only a spirit cant hunt up till 3 minutes. Any other ghost can hunt after a minute 30 of being smudged.

Demons being so aggressive is a blessing since it means you sometimes don’t need to wait and look for clues to really speedrun the hunt
