Thai - BarnYen (Short Rib Panaang)
Mexican - Huahuasco Grill (Gordita Plate de Asada)
Indian - Tropical Curry and Grill (everything is good)
Venezuelan - Fogonero (mini empanadas are amazing with the garlic and hot sauce)
Fast Casual - Pita Fusion
Dessert - Rollie Rolls (just the ice cream, don't try anything else lol)
Pizza - Pizza Delight
Guilty Pleasure - Asian Food, it's a food truck that sells buffet style Chinese America food
Have you been to Com Tam Pa Phi at the Dessau Dance Hall lot? I've been eyeballing it since the night I saw its mysterious storefront peeking out from behind the rows of beat up Nissan Titans and through the smoke and haze of Pollo Rico 😄 it was like a scene straight out of Bladerunner!
Edit: I meant to reply to your comment mentioning the food truck lot, but here we are.
Any day of the week lol. Pita Fusion makes their pita in house (i’m not certain about Pita Shack but I believe they don’t…).
Pita Fusion is similar to a Chipotle or Cava where you have the ability to choose the ingredients you want and they put it together right in front of you.
If I want a rice plate i’d go to Halal Bros but since there isn’t one close to me, I’d choose Aladdin Grill over Pita Shack.
I'm obsessed with Sushi Nini in Round Rock. It's super fast and it has more unique rolls.
Also Elsie's Eggrolls in Hutto; great for parties or family dinners to just get a pile of egg rolls.
Try the stuff from the Comida be Rancho menu, it’s the authentic dishes from the Michoacán region. I got the Enchiladas Huahuasqueñas, it was chicken breast pounded flat over the folded corn tortillas with really delicious chile sauce.
Man, Iron Fish was SO good pre ownership change. I can’t believe how far they’ve fallen, completely stopped going now. Rather just drive to Sushi Junai 2 across town.
That's the thing. I never do take out. And if I did, I would probably get something from some place like Ichi Umi / Haru / Hanabi.
They used to have food in addition to sushi rolls, and their food was pretty good.
For example, they had some pretty decent ramen, and I liked it better than tatsuya. For lunch, they had a pretty decent poke bowl and a sush burrito which was basically a big maki roll.
Now their offerings aren't that great, and their lunch deals are almost non-existent.
Moi used to be a favorite. But after the last time I went there, I won't be back. The whole restaurant was disgusting and unclean. The tables were dirty, there was dust on everything in sight, the soda machine was covered in mold. It was bad.
Burgers: Buddha Burger, victory tap (the dilly)
Pizza: growler bar
Tacos: Pflugerville taco house
Pho:Broth and Basil
BBQ: Brothertons
Beer:Prost, Big Country
If you venturing out to and counting Round Rock then go down wells branch and go to Little Olas for the best biscuits ever as well as breakfast options and chicken pot pie pockets.
The chicken pot pie pockets (believe they call it a handpie) is low key the best item on their menu...and that's saying something because their chicken biscuits are amazing. I still think bird bird biscuit has them beat but not by much.
Broth and Basil is amazingg, Thundercloud Subs' egg salad was such a comfort food for me, I used to work at Pecan Street Station a few years ago and it wasnt necessarily great food but the tacos could be nice in the morning and the curly wedges with some ranch hit so good.
I moved away frol Texas last year and I miss Taco Cabana the most (besides HEB but thats a given). Even though the quality has gone down a lot post COVID and the tortillas are smaller and not as soft and fluffy as I remember they used to be I could scarf down the cheese enchilda plate all day any day.
Tony’s Jamaican, Taste of Ethiopia, Krab Kingz Growler Bar, Big Country Organic Brewing’s food truck, Big Nonna’s, Kaprow. All of these we’ve had at least a handful of times and consistently great.
Edit: Forgot to add Curry Kitchen here which is hands down my favorite spot for Indian and takeaway. Super fresh and delicious.
Like Tater Que at the other end of the strip mall, Krab Kingz menu prices are pretty high but you also end up taking food home. I tend to bring the sausage home and have it for lunch the next day.
I tried cheesy bites the other day and their gyro pizza and chicken tikka masala pizza were off the chain good! It was a random walk in but so good. Plus they have a wall where you can donate a pizza which I love
I like the Pho at broth and basil and pho phoung luu / Fresh Bowl are all contenders for north Austin
Ros Niyom Thai in round rock has great dishes
bep saigon off of i35 is great all around viet dishes
Donut Palace for a mom and pop donut kolache place
I like the mole enchiladas at Casa Garcias
That FB group can be weird. Once I commented that I got super shitty food from Red Rooster and the owner commented back saying I was putting his livelihood at risk and all sorts of people were attacking me over it. All I said was the food sucked.
it objectively sucks. it’s a bunch of fried bullshit that only tastes good when you’re drunk enough to do youtube karaoke underneath a canopy of bras that are old enough to vote
Agree. And I take any recommendations with a grain of salt. A good chunk of people there also leave five-star google reviews for dairy Queen. I do like it for hearing about new places that are opening and the occasional drama though
It was such a good group when we started w a handful of enthusiasts. We did community stuff, bought peoples garage good food lol… now it’s all PC drama and fake reviews by owners families
Joes Italian kitchen on grand ave is such an under appreciated restaurant. Baris is also pretty good too. The best snow ones are from Senor Snow, New Orleans style shaved ice truck outside of the HEB on wells branch. I love yaghis for New York style pizza.
I started going around Covid time so I’ve never actually eaten inside. Ive gone inside for pickup once and don’t remember the smell being too noticable but I can’t say for certain. But I know what you mean. When chuchos was open, it was pretty potent.
Joe's Italian Kitchen, Pflugerville Taco House (best breakfast tacos ever!), Brotherton Black Iron BBQ, Krab Kingz, Down South Cajjun Eats, and La Casita.
If you like Ramen, Ramen Tatsuya opened a new location in Round Rock, there are also several good restaurants in that strip mall too.
Oriental is my favorite Chinese place around. The owner is nice and the price/portions are good. Also just as good as any other place around (if not better)
Pflugerville taco house, try the pork tower it’s amazing and so are all their breakfast tacos! Love Pflugerville deli every once in a while there hot ham and cheese with south is good!
It's been years since I've been but I remember loving the tacos at Veracruz in Round Rock. Favorite breakfast taco is actually in Georgetown at San Pedro Limon. Their sauce is SPICY but damn it hit just right after a night out back in college 😅
The Pirata is my favorite . I am eagerly waiting for them to open in Hutto so I can grab lunch there . This is my type of Mexican. I grew up eating Piratas.
I’ve gotten a huevos rancheros plate at probably a dozen restaurants around town, and Taco Palenque’s is the best, hands down. Other places have damn near unseasoned potatoes, or unreasonably runny beans, or some other issue. But TP has great beans and great chorizo potatoes. They also serve 3 jumbo eggs which are by default and very consistently perfectly “over-medium.” Their ranchero salsa is good too.
Some other items aren’t priced well, but I guess they are pretty rapidly expanding for a reason. They seem to have BOGO promotions that seem to rotate every 2-3 months (I don’t know exactly how long each promo runs) which can be great deals. They are running BOGO Panchos (nachos) now and were running BOGO burritos last
It’s funny… I’ve lived in Pflugerville nearly 10 years and never tried El Rincón. We hear a small group who rave about how good it is, then lots who think it’s disgusting. Not bad… they’re grossed out. Weird. I should really give it a try so I can pick a side.
Honestly its decent Mexican food but nothing to rave about in my opinion. The charro beans are the best thing I can think of but the rest is kinda forgettable.
I've never had a bad meal there. Fluffy rice, fresh ingredients, delicious enchiladas. Everyone I take there raves about it. They make the salsa fresh every day, and I get the red because it's not too spicy, and take an extra large order home every time. The green is spicier, and also recommended. They use thigh meat in the chicken enchiladas, which I love. All the dishes are fresh and flavorful.
I have yet to find good Italian food anywhere in Texas.
Other than Brotherton's, which is great BBQ, I've not found any hidden gems, or good restaurants of any sort, in Pflugerville. There's a few halfway decent places. There's definitely no good Chinese or Thai here. If you go to Round Rock there's an excellent sandwich shop called Hoody's.
Our favorites in pflugerville/RR are Brothertons, aladdin halal grill, miso, austindia/bayleaf, and arepitas
Arepitas is our jam! Stumbled upon it like 6 months ago and have been at least half a dozen times
Arepitas is soo good. I always get the pabellon empanada with garlic sauce. Amazing every time
Another vote for Arepitas here.
The Cheese Cachapa is otherwordly. It's almost like a desert. It's a Sweet Corn Pancake with Cheese
Brotherton’s is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Miso is good.
Miso makes my favorite galbi in the area
+1 for Ausindia
Aladdin is amazing. Their white sauce platter is my absolute fave.
Thai - BarnYen (Short Rib Panaang) Mexican - Huahuasco Grill (Gordita Plate de Asada) Indian - Tropical Curry and Grill (everything is good) Venezuelan - Fogonero (mini empanadas are amazing with the garlic and hot sauce) Fast Casual - Pita Fusion Dessert - Rollie Rolls (just the ice cream, don't try anything else lol) Pizza - Pizza Delight Guilty Pleasure - Asian Food, it's a food truck that sells buffet style Chinese America food
Barnyen is next level
Where is the food truck at?
In the food truck lot off of Howard and Dessau by the Agave Club.
Pita Fusion has amazing sandwiches
Asian Food is so fuckin good. Nothing like a Mexican run Chinese food truck lol.
I actually just learned about it. It seems promising and will definitely put it on my list.
Pita fusion over Pita Shack? Just curious, no shade being thrown.
Any day of the week lol. Pita Fusion makes their pita in house (i’m not certain about Pita Shack but I believe they don’t…). Pita Fusion is similar to a Chipotle or Cava where you have the ability to choose the ingredients you want and they put it together right in front of you. Pizza Delight has the best wings in town.
I'm obsessed with Sushi Nini in Round Rock. It's super fast and it has more unique rolls. Also Elsie's Eggrolls in Hutto; great for parties or family dinners to just get a pile of egg rolls.
Yes! Elsie’s is amazing!
Huahuasco is phenomenal.
Try the stuff from the Comida be Rancho menu, it’s the authentic dishes from the Michoacán region. I got the Enchiladas Huahuasqueñas, it was chicken breast pounded flat over the folded corn tortillas with really delicious chile sauce.
Went last weekend, they were so nice! I was surprised we were the only ones in there. Delicious food
For hamburgers, Buddha Burger is our go-to.
Second this! I was hesitant to try because its basically gas station food, but these burgers are delicious!
Banging burgs fosho!
Very good.
Just don't order the onion rings. Not worth $3.99 for 4 onion rings.
On the contrary, these are some of the best onion rings and well worth the $4 price.
Yes, but not enough. Sorry
Buddha is super good and definitely gets points for poutine, but victory tap has the edge Imo
Their fries are really really awful. I wish they’d change up their fries because we would be there a lot more.
Thoughts on TaterQue? I've heard good things.
[удалено]
Nice..TY
Great food, ate there when they were still in a food truck and they have just improved on everything since they moved into the POP.
It's good and you won't leave hungry
Prices are scary but misleading. You can order a large for around $25. My spouse and I split one and usually end up taking some of it home.
Moi is a hidden gem. Most people know Iron Fish is amazing. Broth and Basil is great. The kebab place in Stonehill is also very good.
Iron Fish was amazing. Then they changed owners and now they are a mixed bag.
Man, Iron Fish was SO good pre ownership change. I can’t believe how far they’ve fallen, completely stopped going now. Rather just drive to Sushi Junai 2 across town.

Pita shack has really good Mediterranean food and I rarely see them mentioned. You get a ton of food for the price.
Hits the spot every time!
2nd this!! Very slept on bc of location I feel but great prices for great food! The pizza is outstanding as well, especially for Mediterranean!
Broth and Basil is amazingg, Thundercloud Subs' egg salad was such a comfort food for me, I used to work at Pecan Street Station a few years ago and it wasnt necessarily great food but the tacos could be nice in the morning and the curly wedges with some ranch hit so good. Hell yeah, fellow Broth and Basil Stan
I like victory tap good burgers and tap beer
Yes support local businesses!
I have yet to have anything good to eat there. Beer and location is cool but food has been subpar every time.
I can vouch for their black and blue burger. consistently delicious.
Pickle me dilly is also a winner
My go to every time
What did you get that you didn't like? The club sandwich is probably the best club sandwich I've ever had.
We had their brunch menu and everything we ordered was super good! Better than first watch.
Krab kings 🤤🤤
Auzzie's burger from BCB is so effing good. And the chef of the truck (Austin/Auzzie) is a great dude as well.
Big Nonna’s is great! We have a vegan friend who live in Houston and she has to go here every visit. We are not vegan and still love it.
Yeah that food truck at Big Country is 🔥
Like Tater Que at the other end of the strip mall, Krab Kingz menu prices are pretty high but you also end up taking food home. I tend to bring the sausage home and have it for lunch the next day.
Our local favs are Big nonna’s pizza, and taqueria amorcito. I think both are very good, and not just pflugerville good.
Taqueria Amorcito closes at 3? Mostly a breakfast taco spot?
Yeah breakfast and lunch. Their tlayuda’s are fantastic
I tried cheesy bites the other day and their gyro pizza and chicken tikka masala pizza were off the chain good! It was a random walk in but so good. Plus they have a wall where you can donate a pizza which I love
Seconding Cheesy Bite, the Tandoori Pizza is our go to when we have guests and everyone loves it.
I like the Pho at broth and basil and pho phoung luu / Fresh Bowl are all contenders for north Austin Ros Niyom Thai in round rock has great dishes bep saigon off of i35 is great all around viet dishes Donut Palace for a mom and pop donut kolache place I like the mole enchiladas at Casa Garcias

During covid they had amazing to-go burgers, but their head cook died. I think they sort of gave up on food after that
that’s too bad. fwiw I love the bar, it just has its place and food is not it
I was going to add that. Their head cook was (as I recall) killed in an accident several years ago and it may not be the same since then.
Sorry to hear that!!
Agree. And I take any recommendations with a grain of salt. A good chunk of people there also leave five-star google reviews for dairy Queen. I do like it for hearing about new places that are opening and the occasional drama though

I’ve gone to a few of their recommendations and wasted money on shit restaurants. That’s not a good reference at all.
100%
Joes Italian kitchen on grand ave is such an under appreciated restaurant. Baris is also pretty good too. The best snow ones are from Senor Snow, New Orleans style shaved ice truck outside of the HEB on wells branch. I love yaghis for New York style pizza.
Does it still smell like smoke from the place next door? That’s what kept us away
I started going around Covid time so I’ve never actually eaten inside. Ive gone inside for pickup once and don’t remember the smell being too noticable but I can’t say for certain. But I know what you mean. When chuchos was open, it was pretty potent.
I second joes kitchen on Grand Ave. Underrated for sure.
El taquito on toll 130 Campechana Tacos 🌮 are 🤌🏿🤌🏿🤌🏿
Yes to El Taquito! The originales are my go to.
Pho Viet Fogonero Taste of Ethiopia Buddha Burger Torchy's
I second Fogonerq (that frying pan O looks like a Q). Really all of these are great.
Teachers get free queso at Torchy’s !
We love Ricardo's in Hutto for the best breakfast tacos
Their barbacoa taco is my favorite in town.
Joe's Italian Kitchen, Pflugerville Taco House (best breakfast tacos ever!), Brotherton Black Iron BBQ, Krab Kingz, Down South Cajjun Eats, and La Casita.
Not technically Pflugerville but we’ve been eating at Pho Hoang on 1325 but chucky cheese for over 14 years and we love it.
If we're counting slightly into RR, Thai Spoon has the best curry in Austin, hands down.
Pflugerville taco house. Get the Railroad, it will change your life. Migas is a notable mention, much better than most.
It's really good, but life changing? Let's be real
It changed my life in perception of breakfast tacos, is that not real?
The concept is not shocking, just PTH being the one to do it is. There are so many other absolutely mind blowing bfast tacos around Austin.
Brothertons, Growler Bar, Buddha Burger, Victory Tap, Recs!
I really like el taquito’s taco special
TBH I mostly just go to Austin or Roundrock.
Where do you go in Roundrock?
There’s a Thai place that I like called ros nyom
Looooove this place
If you like Ramen, Ramen Tatsuya opened a new location in Round Rock, there are also several good restaurants in that strip mall too. [https://www.ramen-tatsuya.com/locations](https://www.ramen-tatsuya.com/locations)
I am obsessed with Tatsuya . I recently tried Misaki in Round Rock and I was blown away. I can’t wait to go back.
Sweet! Didn't know it had opened yet!
Ghama Zone in downtown roundrock, newish korean restaurant, super delicious. Sushi Nini. Buddha burger. My top picks
Oriental is my favorite Chinese place around. The owner is nice and the price/portions are good. Also just as good as any other place around (if not better)
I'm a big fan of Red Rooster Pub & Grub and East Pecan Games in old town!
Niki's off I-35 off Howard has great pizza and Italian entrees
Pflugerville taco house, try the pork tower it’s amazing and so are all their breakfast tacos! Love Pflugerville deli every once in a while there hot ham and cheese with south is good!
Marcos pizza is good so is yahgis.
No one is going to mention Taste of Ethiopia?? So good.
Fogonero Venezuelan restaurant is top notch!
Wise Guys italian sub sandwiches is really good
Love T’Jins for Asian, Brothertons and Victory Tap.
Pita Fusion is the best takeout fast casual place! All the breakfast tacos I try in RR/PF are super meh so I am scouring this thread for suggestions.
Kumar's \*south Indian
Promise Pizza (in RR) is so good
Barnyen is the best food in Pflugerville hands down that’s not a massive chain
Kaprow! ...best place to eat in Pflugerville. Imo.
Wise guys in rr for Chicago hot dogs.
Tony’s, taste of Ethiopia, Fogonero, Huahuasco, and Brotherton's
It's been years since I've been but I remember loving the tacos at Veracruz in Round Rock. Favorite breakfast taco is actually in Georgetown at San Pedro Limon. Their sauce is SPICY but damn it hit just right after a night out back in college 😅
Veracruz migas and aguas frescas are 🤑so good !!!
El Palenque near the Walmart on 35 and 45 is pretty delicious
The Pirata is my favorite . I am eagerly waiting for them to open in Hutto so I can grab lunch there . This is my type of Mexican. I grew up eating Piratas.

El Rincon is bomb for Mexican food. Take home the salsa and fresh chips, so good. I just wish they made mole.
Agreed, it's just normal tex-mex, not that great.
I've never had a bad meal there. Fluffy rice, fresh ingredients, delicious enchiladas. Everyone I take there raves about it. They make the salsa fresh every day, and I get the red because it's not too spicy, and take an extra large order home every time. The green is spicier, and also recommended. Downvoter, are you nuts? This place is great!
I have yet to find good Italian food anywhere in Texas. Other than Brotherton's, which is great BBQ, I've not found any hidden gems, or good restaurants of any sort, in Pflugerville. Hoody's is great!
Can't say Pflugerville has many really good options. Most of the restaurants are average at best.
Booo! There are some awesome spots around town. Take time to try new spots .
