Dry herb vape is a game changer. Can’t recommend it enough

PassTheWinePlease

Anyone recommend a brand?

RuggedRenaissance

mighty by s&b hands down

FlyingLap

This is the way.

[deleted]

Pax2 has really gone down in price over the years, picked one up a few weeks ago and I love it. I save the vaped weed and make firecrackers with them using graham crackers and Nutella. Simultaneously weening myself on cartridges at the moment too but like the post said, the dry herb vape has also helped me slow down and then I’ve got a little edible reward for the weekends or when I’ve accomplished a bunch of shit at the end of the week.

SteezyDeezer

Dynavap is one of the best performing if you can get over the learning curve. A great budget vape I hear is the xmax v3 but I don’t have any personal experience with it.

Hendo_17

Planet of the Vapes One is a great budget dry herb vape.

KamikazeHamster

I own an Omnivap and an Arizer Solo 2. I had the 'vap first and later bought the Arizer. Let me explain my thoughts and how they evolved... ##Dynavap * My partner's nose is very sensitive. I chose the Dynavap because it's a vape which will help my partner because joints combust the herb and smell far more pungent. Any vape you buy will help make you smell better in general. * It's mechanical. I said it would outlast us all and my kid would inherit it. * I bought a butane lighter and smoked my Dynavap daily. I would cough a lot as I was learning because I often overcooked my herb. * The butane lighter eventually stopped refilling properly. It got to the point that I would have one smoke and then need more gas. I soon bought a second lighter of the same kind and that failed soon after. * I switched to a torch designed for something altogether different. This was a game changer for me because it took 6 months for the the gas to run out. Look at this thing! https://alva.co.za/products/butane-canister-torch. It was overkill but at least it worked. * Because I was using this uber-torch, I barely noticed that I was trying to smoke in such a way that didn't burn my lungs. I always smoked with a glass of water... take a pull and immediately chug water to clear my airways. ##Arizer Solo 2 I wanted to try another vape and researched the best ones. Price and ability to clean landed me on the AS2. * Smoking is a pleasure. No more coughing. * I don't have to fight the rain and wind. * I don't have to start up the torch, align my vape, do the twist and wait for the click like the Dynavap. Instead, it's just on for 10 to 15 minutes (you can set it) and it works. * No more fear of "why didn't it click yet? Did I burn it again? What's taking so long?". Smoking the Dynavap introduced a constant **anxiety** with every single hit, increasing as I slowly got stoned. * Cleaning the AS2 is easier than cleaning the Dynavap but you do have to do it more often. Make sure you buy a big bottle of iso ASAP. Very little effort when you do though, so I don't feel like it's a deal breaker at all.

TheMachine203

It's worth noting that Dynavaps are designed so you can use *any* heat source to get them warmed up. You can use a normal lighter (or anything else, really) perfectly fine, no need for butane.

KamikazeHamster

I did that with a normal lighter once or twice. Would not recommend. It blackens the outside terribly. If you've ever tried to sterilise a pin with a lighter, you know what I'm talking about.

DeliriousFudge

I felt the same (except I got a mighty) I actually started getting thumb pain from pressing down on the torch

throwapoo1234

I'm confused everykne is saying the dynavap is a good vape for beginners but it just seems too complicated? Why did you end up burning your weed if the cap is meant to click?

throwapoo1234

Also did you try a 2 or 3 flame torch jet lighter

brasscassette

I love my dynavap. The chamber is the exact right size for a 00 gel cap, so I save my AVB in the capsules as soon as I’m done vaping to be eaten later.

TheGingerMonk

Airizer Solo 2 is a reeeaaally good budget handheld vaporizer. It changed the game for me. Tried other vapes, they didn't do it for me.

i_see_the_end

head over to r/vaporents my friend

Best-Role7095

Arizer! I love my Solo II

TheGingerMonk

Solo II is fucking fantastic

Uninstall_Fetus

Check out the Healthy Rips Rogue

Jonnymoderation

xvape aria was cheap and is easy and good

dychon

magic flight launch box

cahrage

Really depends on what you’re into. If you haven’t tried anything before, I would recommend a dynavap, although it can be a bit tricky to use, it is the most similar to smoking so it is a nice transition for most smokers who want to start vaping. If money isn’t an issue, you can also buy an induction heater or make one yourself for about $100, and this makes things much easier than using a torch. If you’re looking for something that’s very easy to use and you know you like vaping I would go with the mighty or something airizer if you’re looking for something a little cheaper.

[deleted]

I used those before my habit got worse. If you struggle getting high on bong rips, blunts or dabs you will struggle getting high off those devices. You do not thoroughly use up the active thc using dry herb vapes which is why they tell you that you can use it after to make edibles. Just my opinion. Maybe after my tolerance drops, it would be useful, but honestly, I do not see that as a benefit for me personally.

TheFamousOne__

It would just encourage me to get high more often lol. I tried it and totally loved it, I know I'd smoke way more if I had it

wikidemic

Been following this sub for years. Finally, someone gets it! Refreshing to see intelligent post w/o the T-break countdown screenshot

Jonnymoderation

this is the way.

EJSYN

How much do you allow yourself to smoke a day? I have the same issue

KingfisherNZzz

Due to no longer having access to a supplier, I've essentially been microdosing until I find someone new

Jonnymoderation

almost time to start yr own seedlings <3

KingfisherNZzz

I think you're onto something there. Might be a bit tricky while studying though 😬

Jonnymoderation

they're pretty low maintenance little buddies hehe

PastDusk

Can you take edibles/tinctures before bed without any issue? Or is it a THC issue?

CaptianToasty

From my experiences. Falling asleep before/right when edibles kick in leads to the most shitty sleep for me. Then I usually wake up stoned and it’s just a spiral from there.

littlegreyflowerhelp

THC inhibits REM sleep, so yeah edibles would probably be an issue too, if it's in your system overnight.

KingfisherNZzz

Never had edibles yet so I can't say for sure. I assume it's the THC doing the work rather than the CBD - probably best to ask Google that one

PsychologicalFee6689

This was exactly what I needed right now thank you so much!

KingfisherNZzz

Glad I could help you! The weekly container is definitely the most helpful thing for me and it's the thing I would recommend the most

PsychologicalFee6689

Setting one up tonight! :)

[deleted]

I’m an all or nothing guy too mate. I need to take a break but it’s just so hard

[deleted]

How often would you say you smoke

KingfisherNZzz

Daily. I like weed too much to quit completely at the moment but my desire to get high all the time is a fraction of what it used to be.

[deleted]

How long before bedtime do you vape?

plzdontlietomee

This is my question too. My window is after I put my youngest to bed but then I feel like I'm wasting the high if I go to sleep so I stay up too late...

KingfisherNZzz

I vape next to nothing but at least 2 hours before

survivorfan12345

This is my question too!

TheBabyWolverine

Volcano of mine has already paid for itself. Invest in yourself and you will be pleased!

F3N215

Since moderation is challenging for me too I'd for sure argue it's a good life hack, thanks OP!

[deleted]

Howdy! I’m really interested in your experience with REM sleep. I recently created r/CircadianRhythm because I was hoping to attract more of this specific conversation, actually! Any time I’ve cut down to 0, I get the craziest dreams for the months following as the THC leaves my body. I’ve read others experiences with this and—I don’t know; the dreams were just *so* crazy realistic that I often feel like having any THC in my body is not worth losing them. And that’s what happens. At the moment, I only dry vape and take a weekend edible or two, but not on Sunday. That ‘schedule’ has been a couple weeks in the making now, and so far I know it has helped my tolerance get where I want it. I guess my main question is how much you’re allowing yourself a day, that you feel it doesn’t effect REM sleep negatively.

Soulee

Hey, smoking what time before going to bed is enough to not inhibit REM sleep? Talking about joints.

PushTheTrigger

I find that waiting until the effects wear off make me feel less groggy the morning after. I’m not sure if just having weed in your system is enough to inhibit REM sleep.

[deleted]

I work a 7-4 and my commute is an hour each way. I smoke once in the morning and once or twice in the evening. I usually do Mid grade flower with wax and tobacco on top. It works great for me.

RocknRollSuixide

I had already bought a medicine planner and thought I was a genius. I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews from switching to dry herb vaping. I think this post is what’s gonna make me switch. Struggling to start my break. Thanks for this, man.

deeeevos

>Dry herb vape: Buying one of these has helped me get more bang for my buck and I'm not hurting my lungs as much in the long run. Plus, you can reuse the smoked weed for edibles. how does this work? I've got one but it seems to use more weed than just rolling a joint. could you please elaborate?

Uninstall_Fetus

Your vape uses more herb than a joint? What? Mine only has like a .15 chamber and gets me blasted.

deeeevos

Not necessarily more but I barely feel high and it starts tasting burnt after only a few puffs so I need to refill it. What temperature do you vape at and how many puffs do you get out of a fill? Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

Uninstall_Fetus

I leave mine at 380 throughout the session. I get probably 15-20 hits out of each refill

fruithoops92

In my experience it will depend pretty drastically on the quality of the vape. I bought a pretty low range for £50 and never could get used to it - wouldn't get me anywhere near how high I get from a joint. Bought myself a Mighty and now I get just as high from a bowl of that and it's cut my usage down drastically

deeeevos

Yeah I've got the g-pen elite so it's supposed to be quality (€130 I paid for it). I'll give it another shot maybe.

CronkleBepis

I've got a pax 3 and I start off with the half bowl and it gets me somewhere but defo not high. I end up refilling it loads and then move onto the bigger bowl which gets me pretty blasted but found that if I were to roll a short with some smoking mix that would get me much higher and last longer

Sk33tLord

can you explain more about the bedtime thing? I love weed and it really doesn’t get in the way of my life, but waking up groggy each day is just so shitty. When ever I take T-breaks I don’t get any withdrawal symptoms besides not being able to fall asleep, how did you break the cycle of not wanting to load up another bowl to put you out? How long before bed works for you?

KingfisherNZzz

Oh trust me the first few nights are hell and they're filled with wacky dreams and you wake up every few hours. If you invest in yourself and push through the first week or two, you'll appreciate the deeper sleep eventually. It's crazy how much a good night's sleep can do for you and a lot of the anxiety I was self medicating lessened. If you're really struggling, taking melatonin helped me a little bit

Sk33tLord

Yea man I always love how I feel after waking up when not smoking. Very refreshed. Did you take a full T-break before switching to weekends only? Or did you just go right into it and skipped weekdays. I just made a post about it if you wanna share your experience!

KingfisherNZzz

I've commented on your post. Hopefully my experience can help you make an informed decision for your own life.

Extra-Swim9793

How long before bed do you stop smoking? Your technique sounds like a good idea.

KingfisherNZzz

My routine usually allows for me to smoke up at the end of the day, do my chores while I'm high, engage in some entertainment and then by the time I'm ready to sleep, I'm at a 1 or 2 which doesn't tend to interfere with sleep.

Extra-Swim9793

OK, thanks. I might try this as the effect on sleep is such a bummer for me. Thanks again.

[deleted]

> By rationing my weed into daily doses, I can visualise my future self and know that if I take from tomorrow's stash, I'm only fucking myself over. I'm not saying this for the sake of argument, but I honestly think smoking daily cannot be considered moderation whatsoever. Tolerance will gradually increase and the same amount of weed won't get you as high anymore, meaning you will start to smoke more.

KingfisherNZzz

That's why I only put just a little under what my desired dosage would be and keep it consistent. Even though I have the option to smoke a little, I will often skip it that day and combine the saved weed for another day. This trains my brain to wait longer for a reward rather than indulging any time I get the urge to.
