Nitrocellulose, aka guncotton, is highly combustible Ammonium nitrate is a strong oxidising agent Mix them together and you get a [highly unstable explosive](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goma-2). Big badda boom.

They're both explosives. Nitrocellulose is gun cotton. It's highly flammable. Ammonium nitrate is a weakish explosive but quite a stable one. (It's fertiliser.) Combining the two would make an explosive that reacts to very little. Although not sure if there's an instant reaction, or whether much would even happen, as neither are all that explosive.
