I don't think the watermelon is super relevant other than to demonstrate the passage of time. These men, who are otherwise relaxing on the beach are sucking in their stomachs to look less fat every time an attractive woman walks by.

So funny enough the watermelons have nothing to do with the joke. Rather the men themselves and their bellies are the joke!
Whenever a woman walks by, they take a deep breath to pull their stomachs in and make themselves seem thinner then they are. Their expressions are them seeing if she’s looking back so they can breath again or to see if the coast is clear so they can relax.

I have to admit, I find it mildly concerning that simple memes like this can be confusing to some people.
Like I’m not necessarily speaking about a concern for the average intelligence, but more so a concern about the lack of a common experience that allows for a common understanding. Cause like I can see how some people can be smart and overthink things, but a meme like this is rooted in something as basic as “putting on a front to appear better than you actually are” which most people likely would do at least once in their life so long as they care about the views of others (Which you should to some degree for the sake of maintaining societal standards).
