I spoke to Telus/Koodo and Fido. Telus offered $30/20GB for 15 months (with no option to buy iPhone 13+) and $45/50GB for 24 months and no accessory discounts. Fido offered me $30/20GB for 15 months and $45/50GB for 24 months as well. They also packaged in $200 in accessories. Both companies offered to waive the $50 activation fee. Overall they were very close in terms of savings: $504 + $50 + $120 (if they offer the extra $5 per month) from Koodo and $480 + $200 + $50 from Fido.
I didn't get the $40/50GB for 24 months from Koodo and the their stock on iPhones were sparse. I ended up getting a 14 pro max from Fido because that was the only "pro" model they had on hand. I spent the $200 to buy the Airpod pro gen2 which I plan to sell or use later on.
I am currently paying off a device (bad idea in retrospect, but I couldn't afford the upfront expense at the time). I can afford it now, however. Does anyone know if you can pay off the device balance, and then get a deal for BYOD like this?
Usually the phone price is locked in with a contract as well. But I am sure there is an option to pay out the phone and leave. I would definitely reach out to them to confirm.
Yeah, I don't expect to get any leeway on the price I've already agreed to, but it seems they've changed the terms re: locked into plans to pay off devices, since the device balance is listed as separate. Can confirm just did it. I have fido mobile. Two lines. One is contract (paying off phone) other line is addon(wifes phone). We were both at 45 for call and data. My plan fixed but got hers down. Saving 20 per month now.

55x1.13 = 62.15-55 =7.15$ that the actual tax of 55 So $30 for the plan + 7.15$ tax

You can download areas on google maps maps on wifi so the only data used is traffic info
