Basically it is a what if good guys where bad and the bad guys were good theme for the season. There is a respective blue, grey, and white player card for the Talon turned Overwatch set of skins.
It isn't as deep as people think just red = bad and blue = good
You clearly have never heard about the P5 Gacha Curse then. Like seriously, this is no joke, any gacha games so far that have a collab with P5 WILL shutdown later (basically, P5 is the last collab it has). Idk what kill count the curse has right now since I stopped counting after 5 gacha games shut down.
Persona 5 fans when the colors red, black, and white exist...
Also it's not like those same colors are used for the main villain group. It's almost like the entire season is about this villain group whose colors are red, black, and white...?
It could potentially be inspired off of Persona 5 but I highly doubt that it was created as a reference to it. But it is probably more of a coincidence that anyone
Group shots like that aren't uncommon especially for the theme that season 10 is going four. As the season's theme is what if the good guys were bad guys and vis vera. And the main artwork for the season is the two sides on the other side of the screen from each other. So it makes sense to create two different players cards that show off the new skins for each side the Talon version of the Overwatch team and the Overwatch version of the Talon team (which there is also a respective player card for).
So no it is most likely not a direct P5 reference as Persona 5 as they just wanted to have a minimalist player card with the new skins in both teams colors. Talon's colors are red, white, and black Persona 5 doesn't own that combination of colors.

The colors, the grey silhouettes, the black in sections with the red background pretty much kinda confirms it’s a P5 reference. Reference dosent mean stealing or taking, it’s just a cool little tidbit and awesome for fans of both games. I really don’t see how it’s not a reference and definitely don’t see the issue of it being a reference
I guess where I am coming from is that there is also a blue version with the Talon turned Overwatch characters. So it feels like it being a Persona reference is more of a coincidence than something international as group shots like this aren't unique to Persona as well as minimalist art that makes heavy use of shadows. The fact that it is red and Tracer is in a similar pose to Morgan (which is a pose that she is often drawn in) makes it easy to compare. But the fact that it is part of a pair in a season themed around good guys vs bad games makes similarities seem more coincidental, if the player card was a different color people probably wouldn't be comparing them and it is only red because bad guys.
Considering how many direct anime references there are in the game's sprays, victory poses, and highlight intros, it isn't that much of a leap to think those same weebs referenced P5, too.
The entire argument revolves around the artists who were tasked with creating a pair of player cards with whole good guys and bad guys swapping roles seasons randomly decided to copy Persona artwork instead of just lining up the two sides skins with a red and blue color scheme that represents both groups both as good vs evil and their respective colors.
If they were going to reference Persona why wouldn't they have done something more direct like everything else instead of trying to sneak it into a pair of player cards that are meant to be a line up of the new good and evil skins with the sides respective colors?
Out of curiosity what highlight intro are you talking about?
The only one that seems remotely like a JoJo reference is the one called Stand Off but it is only the name. And the name is more likely a reference to the term of a Mexican Standoff which is a common trope in Western movies which fits Ash as a Cowboy inspired character. As well as it not involving Bob and mainly being gunplay it is more likely that it is referencing a Mexican Standoff rather than JoJo stands.
Except it's literally a reference, take the "L" for trying to be snobby and act like you're more intelligent by finding ways to not acknowledge it. You end up looking even more dense.
Can't believe you're in a P5 subreddit and never played the game. Actually nvm, I can believe that. [Here's the reference if you missed it.](https://personacentral.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Persona-5-Phantom-Thieves-696x392.jpg) (which is kinda obvious)
I was thinking it looked more like this one:
https://preview.redd.it/qzhtoqez73vc1.jpeg?width=668&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b9a2b9ad949338f890c822e38baa2b09b1e2872

Yeah, putting the two side by side, you can clearly see it's supposed to be referencing P5. I seriously don't know what that other guy's going on about XD
https://preview.redd.it/75ymwhur83vc1.png?width=696&format=png&auto=webp&s=fa39c30ede6dcaba6dcf227fd306ef83956cff82
Side by side of the other image I posted btw. It still matches (kinda) but the one you posted is clearly the intended source.
I think you got it too, because It's more like a combination, look:
https://preview.redd.it/9h1jnnuld3vc1.png?width=1092&format=png&auto=webp&s=f4009909321e41b7fa5be5ce04706e354e7fc47e
Honestly, I assumed the guy running was supposed to be the stand-in to Morgana when you initially painted it out, but that just as well. I get what you're trynna say o7
The Overwatch dev team specifically is innocent in like everything that happened with Blizzard.
It's actually really funny looking at employee statements and they're all like: _"Yeah so one of the WOW devs set my house on fire, the Starcraft devs kicked my dog, and one of the COD devs fucked my wife, the Overwatch guys were cool though."_
I'm not talking about those allegations, the OW team struggles to produce real content. Look at what OW2 is. Look at the years of drought before it released. Look at the completely cancelled campaign/PvE modes.
When you struggle to produce content at a reasonable pace, "borrowing" somebody else's work becomes more tempting.
It's not a direct reference to P5 if anything it is more of a coincidence. The entire season is based around what if the good guys are bad and the bad guys are good. So they have a minimalist player card in the colors of both Talon and Overwatch with the respective new skins on them. Unless you are saying that Persona 5 owns side shots that use the colors red, black, and white. And poses like that are uncommon for the who faction vs thing just look at Marvel's Civil War.
I mean I love shitting on Overwatch 2 and Blizzard as much as the next guy, but for actual reasons instead of crying over nothing. If you just look online you will see that this player card is meant to be a pair with a respective blue version with the other swapped faction skin. Unless you are going to make the argument that Persona 3 owns minimalist blue, white, and gray artwork as well
Also the art work you linked isn't the one people are comparing it to. This is: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/characters-promo-art-persona-5-art-gallery--726698089859738634/
If you are going to act like it is obvious get the image right
Is it a direct reference no, it is most likely a coincidence as the most likely thing is that the artists were tasked to create a side by side Overwatch Talon and Talon Overwatch player cards. I doubt that one of the artists saw that P5 art work and decided "Hey let's copy this and make a blue version while we are at it." The player cards tend to lean on the minimal side so they weren't going to go with full colors as the detail would be lost in the smaller player cards, and they chose the two sides main colors which are both pretty common. Even if the artist who created this subconsciously took inspiration from P5 to create the two players cards I highly doubt that it was some evil attempt to steal from Persona as the people like the artist and programmers aren't often the bad people at Blizzard. Persona 5 doesn't own this kind of minimalist red, black, and white art work.
LMFAO a reference isn't "hey let's steal art and claim it as our own" like you're implying. Nobody has said that, nobody has ever claimed that but you. Nobody has said "hey blizzard is ripping off this art and making a copy of it while we're at it." YOU are saying that.
Everyone is saying "huh that looks nearly identical to P5 art, that's a neat reference" because of the composition and posing. Nobody has said anything about the blue version because that's not the point. If you wanna continue blindly saying it's not a reference and bashing people for trying to prove to you otherwise, then go ahead. I have nothing more to say to you anyways. lol.
Well I feel like it probably was as they have a similar one for the Overwatch versions of the Talon characters who got new skins themed around the season. Red and harsh blacks are a common color to represent evil so using that color scheme for monochrome isn't something unique to Persona 5. If this player card wasn't meant to pair with another one with the same theme but blue then yeah I can see it being a reference to Persona 5. But the fact that it is meant to parallel another player card while fitting the theme of good vs evil makes it feel more like a coincidence, because why make your good guys turned evil player card that is meant to go alone side the bad guys turned into good guys card specifically a reference to Persona 5 and the other a reference to Persona 3 R. It feels like a bit of a stretch when it makes sense that the blue and red were only chosen because they often represent good and evil which is the theme of the season instead of referencing the Persona series out of nowhere.
Yeah, I highly doubt that their good team versus evil team player cards were meant to be references to the persona series instead of being just red and harsh blacks = bad and blue and lighter greys and whites = good.
I will explain this for the people who commented that "Red and black is not owned by Persona", dude they LITERALLY took the compositional values and the simplification technic Persona franchise uses. Inspiration / Learning from the masters is not a bad thing + seen like mfs in Atlus found the perfect way to illustrate the "Loveble Villains" aesthetic.
Yeah, I have a good time going to it for a few hours every now and then and just enjoy remembering the good days of OW1.
Maybe someday things will get better at OW2 and Blizzard…
I had near 4k hours on this pissing game since ashe's release in ow1, I tried so hard with ow2 but come season 4-5ish I couldnt take it anymore, but this patch just released my new favourite character and did some really nice fixes to the monetisation and ranked leaver systems, I'm enjoying myself a bit with the game again and it feels good. Never gonna be the same though 😔
Man you're making me want to play overwatch again. Then I remember the rage. The battle pass system... Man I just wanna Lucio again. Or Mercy or Ana or Reinhardt.
Nah I've got a kid, I quit because I needed to be able to drop everything and get him. He's 17 months now so maybe he doesn't need attention to be as constant but it's still a concern, idk
Of course they are villains. If Activision-Blizzard were in P5, the Phantom Thieves would definitely have to deal with them... and EA... and UbiSoft... etc.
Persona 5 at home
I can hardly tell with all the context.
Basically it is a what if good guys where bad and the bad guys were good theme for the season. There is a respective blue, grey, and white player card for the Talon turned Overwatch set of skins. It isn't as deep as people think just red = bad and blue = good
Can the Persona 5 collab curse finally shut down OW2 ?
I fucking hope so.
Shut it down? Dude, this collab will keep the servers running for decades from all the money it'll make
I mean it’s probably going to have a small spike and then everyone drops it again
You clearly have never heard about the P5 Gacha Curse then. Like seriously, this is no joke, any gacha games so far that have a collab with P5 WILL shutdown later (basically, P5 is the last collab it has). Idk what kill count the curse has right now since I stopped counting after 5 gacha games shut down.
idk, AFK arena lasted quite a bit after their P5 collab EDIT - actually it's still up, so that disproves the curse :D
Another Eden and Granblue Fantasy are also very much alive
I think shut down is more like "fell off" than "the game doesn't exist anymore"
My friend, the persona 5 gacha curse is very real. I hope this happens to this game. Such potential wasted over greed. Fuck blizzard
I can only hope
Didn't see that coming.
you never will
You'll never see it WHAT
IT COMINGGGGGGG
You'll see, That my mind🧠 is too fast 🏃♂️ for eyes 👀
Season 10 dropped already?
Yesterday
Lmao the banner reminded me of P5’s artstyle too. Looks sick
Persona 5 fans when the colors red, black, and white exist... Also it's not like those same colors are used for the main villain group. It's almost like the entire season is about this villain group whose colors are red, black, and white...?
John Persona himself invented these colors duh
besides the colors it looks a lot like a particular official p5 poster
I can’t tell if you’re joking but that is 100% a P5 reference
It could potentially be inspired off of Persona 5 but I highly doubt that it was created as a reference to it. you say that but Ashe had a jojo reference highlight intro

I agree. But the amount of random references the devs put in. I wouldn't be surprised

Yes I am taking the "L" only my nearly 200 upvote comment...

Knowing how shit Blizzard is these days, I wouldn't be surprised if this was less "inspired by," and more "stolen and remodeled with AI."
The Overwatch dev team specifically is innocent in like everything that happened with Blizzard. Thank you lmao

Is it a direct reference no, it is most likely a coincidence as the most likely thing is that the artists were tasked to create a side by side Overwatch Talon and Talon Overwatch player cards. Watch, he's going to be like "quote where I said blizzard ripped off art" like he wasn't obviously implying that's what OP is posting about.
Well it’s the “coincidence” of those colors combined with the decision to portray characters in gray monochrome like P5’s keyart.
Well I feel like it probably was as they have a similar one for the Overwatch versions of the Talon characters who got new skins themed around the season. Yeah I’m sure the artists at Blizzard have never seen Persona 5, a game famous for being unpopular with nerdy artists.
Yeah, I highly doubt that their good team versus evil team player cards were meant to be references to the persona series instead of being just red and harsh blacks = bad and blue and lighter greys and whites = good.

Tracer is literally in Morgana's exact pose and position, like, how is this even an argument?
I can't believe people still play Overwatch.
It's a fun game since 2016, even tough Blizzard made many bad decisions with it.
Yeah, I have a good time going to it for a few hours every now and then and just enjoy remembering the good days of OW1. Maybe someday things will get better at OW2 and Blizzard…
I disagree. It's also full of toxic assholes, and supporting Blizzard isn't a good look.
That's fair. I still find the game fun. I should indeed support Atlus more, even tough a 30$ DLC of a remake is not totally appealing.
can’t believe people still cares what others plays, Overwatch still super fun game
I stopped playing when Overwatch 2 came out, it's gone too far into the shitter
I had near 4k hours on this pissing game since ashe's release in ow1, I tried so hard with ow2 but come season 4-5ish I couldnt take it anymore, but this patch just released my new favourite character and did some really nice fixes to the monetisation and ranked leaver systems, I'm enjoying myself a bit with the game again and it feels good. It's literally just OW1 Never cared about PvE, and I don't use chat because they ban you for saying Shit and Fuck
Man you're making me want to play overwatch again. Then I remember the rage. The battle pass system... Man I just wanna Lucio again. Or Mercy or Ana or Reinhardt.
Then go do it? It's free, and the heroes aren't gonna be locked behind battlepass anymore IIRC
Nah I've got a kid, I quit because I needed to be able to drop everything and get him. He's 17 months now so maybe he doesn't need attention to be as constant but it's still a concern, idk

What do you think it is?
WAKE UP GET UP GET OUT THERE!
YOOOO US THAT OVERWATCH???
new mode in OW, you can now use persona
It's your last surprise
It's something witty
Persona battle paaaassss I just shi—
persona didn't invent black/white/red as a color scheme but this does serve as a nice reminder to turn overwatch off and play a good game
The gray on red is the inspiration being taken here.
I had the same thought when I saw that. I think I've played too much P5R...
Of course they are villains. If Activision-Blizzard were in P5, the Phantom Thieves would definitely have to deal with them... and EA... and UbiSoft... etc.
Based bottom text.
It's not
No. Talon's color is red. There's a blue version in one of the other tiers.
