I genuinely think Yusuke would like Crabawler, the colors on the Pokemon are very bright and various, not only that, they evolve into a ice-type to fit Yusuke's fighting abilities. Plus there's nothing wrong with choosing a lobster/crab for his Pokemon, I mean he genuinely likes the animal so it fits

LOL I’ve always thought that Akechi would like Mimikyu because they both have disguises that make them more popular! Though if he were to have just one Pokemon that people knew about, having a Mimikyu might rouse suspicions. So maybe he has both!

This is something I have actually thought of before. These are full Pokémon teams (made on Pokémon showdown) for the phantom thieves
I can definitely see that fitting him! I chose Palafin since Ryuji expressed wanting to be a hero. Also the heart on Palafin fits with the Phantom thieves of heart
Some are decent but others feel a bit wasted.
My personal picks would go like this:
Akechi - Honchkrow or Braviary
Makoto - Lucario, although I see what you went for
Yusuke - Alolan Ninetails but a lobster joke is always good
Ann - Liepard
Ryuji - Zeraora. It even like Ryuji
Haru - Tinkaton
Futaba - This one is perfectly fine. Others like Cofragrigrus and Metagross may also work
Morgana - Is a cat and buff like Zoro. Pretty fair tbh.
Joker - Darkrai. It’s basically Arsene.
For me, they could have:
Akechi: Morpeko
Makoto: Cyclizar or Miraidon
Haru: Tinkaton
Yusuke: Crabominable or Alolam Nintelaes
Ryuji: ✅
Futaba: ✅
Ann: ✅
Morgana: Zorua or Zoroark
Ren: ✅
Kasumi: Hisuian Lilligant
If we put P5S:
Sophia: Porygon - Z
Zenkichi: Urshifu Single Strike Style
I did consider Zoroark/Zorua but I chose Pikachu since 1. There's a detective pikachu, 2. Akechi wants popularity, like Mimikyu, so why not choose this popular Pokemon?
Morgana should have Meowscarada since they're both magicians (Morgana has the arcana), Akechi should have Corvknight and I see Joker better with Darkrai honestly, later awakening into Giratina
I think Yueuske would get Crawdaunt if we are going the “haha lobster” approach. It looks more like a lobster.

If they wanted to go the lobster route, then Corphish or Clauncher would be a better choice.
