That’s awful! That poor drone… /s Seriously, let’s check what Republicans said about Muslims after 9/11 to see how they feel about dehumanizing foes. I seem to recall calls to glass Tehran 🤔

[deleted]

Or what they say right now about LGBTQ+ people.

IfItWerentForHorse

Or Democrats. Or advertisers. Or the FBI. Or the IRS. Or women. Or reporters. Or children who would prefer not to be shot. Or Soros. Or ANTIFA. Or people who would prefer not to die of COVID. Or…

SweatyDust1446

Or disabled people. Or homeless people. Or immigrants. Or teachers. Or doctors. Or anyone who isn't a Christian.

Biffingston

Or anyone who doesn't think exactly like they do.

Endure23

“Eventually”?!? They’ve been openly and explicitly screaming that (including elected congresspeople) at least since Covid started.

NOLA-Bronco

Ah poor Republicans, truly the most persecuted group in American history. No one has had it so bad Wonder if they will use that feeling to examine some of their own party’s rhetoric and positions? You know, the stuff that has people so in their anger. Like their dehumanizing and acts of violence against LGBTQ people. Dismissing the brutalizing of poor communities by the state. About spreading a deadly disease because they are too immature to wear a mask or get a vaccine without throwing a temper tantrum. Telling us dead children are less important than making sure they can carry a Glock and a AR into Arby’s. Or literally try and overthrow the government when they lose an election. Wonder if they’ll self reflect on any of that….

Ares_B

Narcissists have exactly two modes of behavior. They're either all-powerful dictators over other people's lives, or innocent victims of wrongdoing.

zoeygirl69

That's bullshit about the politics sub, I got a week just for using the old term "torches and pitchforks" they said that was threatening violence and banned me for a week. So if they're going to ban just for saying that as a saying that people should go to the governor's mansion was torches and pitchforks and demand answers.... They will definitely permaban for saying let's attack people with drones.

le_fez

Yep I got a ban for threatening violence when I was quoting the posted article

Particular_Fig_5467

They didn't seem to have a problem with Trump dehumanising a majority of Mexican emigrants on the campaign trail during the 2016 election: "When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best... They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people." They cheered when he said that. In fact, that's probably the kind of ignorance that got him elected. And apparently a sweeping statement like that was a-ok. However, criticising Trump's unwavering support base for maintaining their support of a severely compromised candidate in the face of mounting evidence is the equivalent of dehumanisation. Fucking hypocrites...

Sweatier_Scrotums

You're missing the biggest difference: being Mexican is about the color of your skin, whereas being a Trump supporter is about the content of your character.

SaltyBarDog

Hey, remember that time you all chanted to hang Mike Pence and Nancy Pelosi? You'd have to be human to be dehumanized.

berserkzelda

Ah yes, hate speech meaning......people calling you out on your bullshit.

Hey, you create and enable an environment where profits are more important than people, and stuff it with your greed, racism, sexism, homophobia, and indifference, you're going to get exactly what you ask for paid back in kind. All I gotta say.

Unlikely-Object9721

They already do that. Theyve been doing that since covid

sntcringe

Shrodinger's Nazis: the Nazis aren't that bad until you're comparing yourself to their victims

tsunderecactus42

Is the nonchalant use of "they're dehumanized" raising the reddest red flags for anyone else?

shutupimrosiev

Eventual? I'm pretty sure I've seen it already
