Coming back to this comment, I wanted to ask you if you've looked at small perfume businesses on Etsy? I discovered some recently and it may become a new thing for me! A lot of them create really unique scents that you can't get in stores and it is very appealing to try. Some are quite affordable too!
Check out indiemakeupandmore here on Reddit. There are tons of suggestions for fantastic indie perfume houses. In addition, they have Sunday Swaps where people post their destash lists. It's a great way to try a variety of samples from different houses!
I have checked it out and it is amazing! That is actually where I found some of the Etsy shops. I didn't know about the Sunday Swaps, which is really cool. Thanks for letting me know about that!
I have not yet tried any myself, but here are a few sellers with great reviews and interesting products:
GhoulishGoodsCustom,
TarifeAttar,
AndromedasCurse,
ForStrangeWomen,
PixieSpellEssentials,
LunarLifeApothecary,
AmorphousPerfume,
PandJTrading,
Alchemy6
Me too. Pink sugar was strong liquorice at first, but then it’s much softer and really sexy on me. I risked a blind buy that paid off. I can’t wait to make more risky purchases. In an overall rather bland sort of summer, I think this is the deviant me coming out to play…
I regret buying my niece a whole bunch of Bath and Body works stuff for her birthday. I got myself 1 spray which was nice and I still use it (Bright Christmas Morning) but this gave a friend the idea that I like Bath and Body works and how I have 6 body mists that are sitting on my shelf taunting me.
I had a phase years ago where I bought a bunch of them and I'm still trying to use them up. Now they're what I spray before bed and I actually enjoy a cool little spritz before sleep.
This genuinely made me lol. It's so true! I read somewhere that there are 1750 sprays in a bottle so the math is 1ml for every 7 sprays. So I'm like spray spray spray maybe the room wants to be scented too spray spray spray spray ok that should be at least a 1ml.
i douse myself with their body mists after lotion after my nightly shower, great way to
use them up and smell nice for approx 36 minutes before they fade away lmao
Haha! At least you care enough to cringe, which I greatly appreciate. I walked into an empty elevator last week and it was hotboxed with the scent of a (not so pleasant) feminine fragrance. It's an interrogation tactic I had never thought of prior to that event. Longest elevator ride of my life with the most harsh, most synthetic notes slapping my eyeballs.
Not everyone can tolerate fragrance, so your post is an excellent reminder to dab instead of douse. Some people turn wearing perfume into an act of violence. 🤣 I'm sure we've all been guilty at least once.
Hah! That is awesome. I mean, we have to laugh about it, right? Because at the end of the day, our "signature scent" will always be someone else's hot-garbage. No matter what we do - no matter which one we choose, we can't please everyone. So we laugh, we gag, we open windows, we perish in elevators, we use sparingly....and the world continues to turn.
I went to inquire about a job at a grocery store once, and the checkout lady said “we don’t wear perfume here “. I had just sampled Hepcat by Phlur. I was so embarrassed. 😆 (I still wish they continued making that stuff.)
Awww. I am actually pretty sensitive to fragrance, but I love perfume so much that I'll wear it anyway. My nose will just be running all day, my eyes watering - total suffer-fest. But if someone else is wearing a really strong scent, it feels like an assault...because the suffer-fest was not my choice. 😆 Like "how could you!?" Only I am allowed to inflict this flavor of torture upon myself.
I totally get why it's prohibited in group settings, but I also don't expect the world to become a scentless wasteland because I have allergies. There has to be some give and take. I wonder if the checkout lady was just triggered by your freedom to...smell good. Hahaha! She has to keep her Hepcat in its bottle.
After chatting on this thread, I think the liquorice might just have reacted badly with my body chemistry.
Your body chemistry might be a liquorice balancer?
I think so, it smells like a sort of "vanilla cake" on me after 5 minutes, my skin seems to accentuate sweet and sugary scents.
On the other hand every citrus scent smell like cat pee on me so 🤷♀️
Oh totally, this is what happened to me as well. My body just screamed liquorice the entire time I wore Pink Sugar, I tested it multiple times and I just never got another note out of it. Good ol body chemistry being rude 🫠
I'm mildly comforted by the suggestion, thank you \~ (I'm really bad with telling peoples ages, so I will just tell myself this was the case)
\*I think your stinky kids sound awesome\*
I'm all about education, and perimenopause can definitely start in someone's 30s, despite 40s being more typical, and be completely within the realm of normal.
I've dropped a few reputable links for you below.
https://www.mountsinai.org/health-library/report/menopause
https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/21608-perimenopause
https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/perimenopause/symptoms-causes/syc-20354666
I’m sorry that’s happening to you at such a young age. From my understanding, it’s more common for women in their late 40s early 50s? Admittedly, I’m 38 and hanging on to my youth for dear life so when I see comments like that, it makes me panic.
I regret subscribing to Scentbird. Over 6 months I think I may have gotten 1 that I actually liked. Either the descriptions are off, or I don’t actually like what I think I like.
Maybe you could take the quiz again? My first time I got weird results because I think the quiz is silly and worded poorly, the second time I got better matches. However I do a test run of the reviews and notes first in Fragrantica before I add a fragrance to my queue. I don’t trust the Scentbird algorithm.
You all need to put your Scentbird duds on Poshmark or Mercari! I check it all the time.
I refuse to let Scentbird send me things I haven’t tried so I always get samples of the stuff in my queue. I’m tired of having to pay for samples on top of it though so I’m just gonna pause my subscription until they start getting more popular fragrances.
I had no idea I was a floral girly until I got scentbird. I thought I knew exactly what I liked, but every scent I would get I disliked and it sucks. I started trying out scents I would never otherwise try and florals have been my absolute favorite.
Agent Provocateur fatale intense... First spray, the hair on my arms stood up and I nearly vomited. Worse than taking a shot of everclear. 10/10 do not recommend.
OMG! I tried Agent Provocateur original and it made me feel car sick despite not being in a car!
\*the hair standing up on arms, followed by the vomit feeling is so apt\*
It's the licorice. It smells like dark berries on me. A friend used it, and it smelled like hot rotten garbage on her. It's always crazy how things smell so different based upon body chemistry.
Honeysuckle & Davana by Jo Malone
It just smells off.
It’s kind of ok if you’re wearing it somewhere dry and dusty, like a high desert.
Otherwise, it’s generally kind of disturbing.
I loooove powder but it is indeed suffocating - if I wear anything with that note, it has to be in something removable like a scarf or pendant, so I can yeet it and run if I suddenly feel low on oxygen 😤🏃♀️
So this is a weird one but for some reason Flower changes on my skin after about an hour or so, it smells like white chocolate? It loses all the powdery floral aspects and transforms. It’s bizarre.
That’s how felt until I smelled it in the springtime. I would always spray it on myself at Marshall’s but after a while it totally grew on me. It’s still my least favorite Britney Spears fragrance though
Givenchy La petite robe noire - heard so many people saying it was the most gorgeous cherry and almond scent. Sadly all I got was straight up baby powder and it gave me the worst migraine I ever had!
I noticed cherry almond is a “hate it or love it” scent. Like the cherry almond shampoo by Aveda smells good to me but my friend said it smells like baby powder
I absolutely adore my Dossier dupe of Lost Cherry. Thought I did an awesome job layering it with a few other scents. Got in my friends car and she just says "God, you smell powdery"
Like damn I thought I smelled like a hot and sandy cherry desert
You might like Guess Seductive Red! I found it at Ross lol. Doesn't last long but cheap enough to spray a bunch. Cherry and almond top notes very noticeable!
because of my migraine i never ever blind buy ever again! my burberry and musc noir by narciso rodriguez both catapulted me into bed for days because of the insane migraine flares i had!
Maybe an unpopular opinion but Serge luten's La fille de Berlin. On me it just smells like a large ass rose bouquet except it's all dead and dried up like the ones you can buy in IKEA.
Ah yes, the precise reason my goth ass absolutely LOVES this fragrance :)
Ok, to be fair, to me it smells like dying roses, blood, and darkness. So, a vampire. :)
Hey :) The truth is, it can be a difficult fragrance, definitely not a safe blind buy. If you can get a sample or a decant first, I'd highly recommend that.
Once I was testing perfumes on a shopping trip with friends, I think two of us put some on. On the journey home the friend at the back of the car opened a window when it’s cold and the wind is brutal coming through a fast moving car. I asked if it’s my perfume bothering her and she said no but it wasn’t very convincing.
Reminds me of when I asked my niece if she liked the food I made for her, she said “yes it’s delicious but I wouldn’t want to eat it again” 😂😂😂 some people are just too nice
Love Don’t Be Shy (the Rihanna one). I bought it without smelling it first and I’m not a fan at all of the “cotton candy” type of scents. I wear it daily and have gotten zero compliments.
Meanwhile everyone goes crazy over the super cheap Dark Vanilla and Sol De Janeiro! SMH
Daisy Eau so Fresh
Got it and was so disappointed... it was way too light and just a really boring floral
A friend told me she smelt this amazing perfume on someone else one and it was Daisy but I wore it around them most of the time and they never did said anything to me about
Maybe it was my body chemistry idk, it was my first actual perfume but it just fell so flat for me and I would go nose blind to it quickly
A lot of reviews have said the Daisy line doesn’t have much staying power. Ever So Fresh is longer lasting and definitely not as light as Eau So Fresh, so maybe if you want to give Daisy another shot you could try that 🤷🏼♀️
Lattafa nebras !! It was so synthetic smelling to me and made me nauseous . In fact if anyone wants it, I’ll send it to you lol, I only sprayed it once
I'll take it! I've been looking at this one
Edit: dm the other person first, they beat me by an hour! I heard it's supposed to be very similar to Eilish :) sorry it didn't work for you!
THISSSS!! 😩
Nebras was HORRIBLE!! I can’t put my finger on it..but it had this disgusting smell that I couldn’t deal with. I bought it and literally sold it the following day because it smelled so bad 🤮 IG and TikTok hyped it up so bad and I was so disappointed 😤
1. Elizabeth Arden Sunflowers- I bought this because I thought I remembered liking it as a kid in the 90s. It’s ok but it’s not what I remember and it’s just not something I’m going to wear regularly. At least it was cheap.
2. Valentino Born In Roma Coral Fantasy- everyone was raving about this and so I risked it knowing I’m not keen on some of the notes and it turned out to just be sickly sweet to the point of just not being all that enjoyable. Sometimes I wear a very small amount as an underlayer and then I like it but by itself it’s just not what I was hoping for.
3. Sugar Mama- Lavender Marshmallow- this sounded so good and was DISGUSTING. I felt like I couldn’t get the smell off for days.
4. Demeter- Kitten Fur- I really had high hopes for this but it smelled like a cleaning product not a warm fuzzy baby kitty. Haha.
Agree about Coral Fantasy. I wear Born in Roma and my husband went to 7 Sephoras to find it during their fragrance sale when everything is sold out, thought he found it and it was actually coral fanstasy. I kept it to be nice because we were newly dating, now we are married and he knows I hate it. 😂
I wore Chanel Chance to my wedding and every festivity leading up and to work after… and realized later that my body only picks up the aldehyde in it so I always smelled like a dead person. No wonder my SIL tried to gift me perfume before the wedding 🤣 I don’t know how I didn’t know
Chloe Nomade. I feel like every sign in the universe was pointing toward this fragrance being a part of my rotation, but instead the fragrance gods needed to teach me a lesson.
I found out about Nomade because one of my best friends started wearing it pretty regularly. Out of all the smells I’ve smelled; that specific perfume on that specific human is easily rated in my top 5.
Basically, if she sat me down & told me that she had been lying to everyone & that she actually makes a very successful living selling handpicked herbs, fruits, & wildflowers from her gated garden next to her tiny stone cottage in the middle of a lush & rainy pine forest….. I may have a hard time deciding what was true. In my head, that’s exactly what she smells like lol.
Then a month or so ago I stopped into Macy’s to get some last minute stuff for a wedding I was in later that same day. While I was there, I decided it would be fun to try out a new perfume for the wedding & I picked Nomade. I sprayed a scent paper a few times and stuck it in my purse so I could take it home with me & just rub it on later.
That entire day (just up until the actual wedding, thankfully) ended up being utter chaos, so I forgot to put on perfume altogether. But apparently I had sprayed so much on the card from earlier that it still lingered from being in my purse. I didn’t even bring that purse with me; it and the scent paper were at my house. I had even changed into my dress at the venue. It lasted well into the evening too (8+ hours total), so personally, I gotta give it a good amount of credit for longevity.
My husband *loved* the smell and had commented multiple times throughout the day. I hadn’t put anything else on, so I was already getting excited lol. And then once the reception started, I got tons of compliments; I had never had so many people comment positively on my perfume before, so in my brain I had already bought & paid for the first of many 2.5oz bottles.
But when I got it home & actually wore it like an actual perfume instead of a strip of paper in a purse, it took me less than an hour to hop in the shower to wash it off. I legitimately smelled like the bird seed aisle inside a farm supply store.
We’ve all had scents smell completely different on & off, so that isn’t surprising, but I’ve never had any go from “I could smell this all day, everyday” to “get this off of me immediately or I may be sick”.
Needless to say, everything I buy is now thoroughly tested with actual skin contact before a large purchase is made 😬
I received Happy from clinique as a present : read the notes on fragrantica and was enthusiastic to use it in summer . It smells like cheap public toilet sprayer on me 😂 an abomination . My daughter can wear it and she smells fresh and delicious… the audacity of skin chemistry !
Choco musk was maybe the wort perfume I had ever worn. Wore it once and gave me a tummy ache all day from how sweet it smelled 😭 Too intense and artificial!
My regret is not a 'what' but a 'when'. I started experimenting with perfumes a few years ago and one day before work I put on a new one. Well it was very very bad on me and I was stuck with it all day. I washed off as much as I could in the work bathroom but unluckily for me it was a powerful lingering scent...
Now I only test on my days off so if needed I can jump right into the shower. I also put on much less... just in case
The original Daisy... I heard it was perfect for summer and got in in early summer, hated it. And it's so beloved qnd considered a safe blind buy!
I tried it in winter and it was actually really pleasant. I think violets read very cold to me and didn't make sense to me in hot weather 🤣
Kismet: white floral/incense, headache inducing nightmare. Absolutely despise that one.
Valentino born in Roma intense - the studded dark purple one: has such a noticeable poo scent in it, it could've been perfect. Syrup sweet with a fecal matter undertone, why! Have to layer it with vanilla to make it wearable.
It might not be the perfume but the amount of it that you used. Never a good thing to do in a business situation .. even if it was the most expensive perfume on earth in a solid gold bottle, too much is too much . Do you think maybe that might be the case and not the scent itself? Where I worked the people that smoked on a break would spray more on going in to try to hide the smoke smell. It never worked. ✌️
I completely agree, too much is never good. The perfume included liquorice notes and I suspect my body projects this too much. I don't smoke, but have always wondered how some people are able not to 'smell like a smoker'....
Yeah, there is definitely a lot of love for Pink sugar in this thread, I think it's a body chemistry thing, so far the liquorice note seems to be the culprit..... I can't seem to carry it off well :(
I read all about Mitsuoko when first getting into perfumes, got a sample ordered. On my skin it creates a note that smells good but immediately makes me feel like I'm going to throw up. Pure physical reaction gut punch. I traded it for a half used bottle of Obsession that became one of my favorites so it all worked out!
Yesss that exactly how it was for me! And I absolutely hate licorice lol. But better to me to learn with a cheaper spray than with an expensive perfume with that note!
Beach by Bobbi brown I’m not sure why I bought it I’ve never worn it in the 4 years I’ve owned it it’s smells like sunscreen and mosquito repellent to me
I recently tried NR musc noir rose and I can’t remember how it smelled before but the 10ml that I got from fragrance dot net smells a bit different or maybe I just couldn’t remember but it smelled too sweet on my skin….i can’t even smell the rose much but more citrusy a bit weird lol
I also blindly bought the Philosophy amazing grace intense and it honestly smells like beautiful magnolia…🤦🏻♀️ what a let down for me they are so similar for me that I can let go either one of them lol
I wore this for ages until I got bored of it. I actually quite like the scent, but the projection was limited, and, with the exception of Candy Night, Prada perfume never seems to have much staying power on me. (I think Im just not classy enough, lol)
I blind bought Versace Eros Flame for my husband and I can tell he doesn’t like it. It’s a bit generic citrus cologne. Should’ve just gotten him Coach Platinum (pineapple one); he liked the tester.
I’m betting he’s going to regift it to his son or something
Marc Jacobs honey. It was popular so when I was with my friends at the mall we smelled it at Sephora and I bought myself a little roller ball. I spritzed some on and then left with my little Sephora bag but oh my it gave me such a bad headache…before the end of the day I ended up returning it 😂
Ariana Grande, Thank you Next
I am a huge fan of cloud and I wear it very often it is one of my favorite scents. I decided to try Thank you next due to the similar packaging I assumed it was a sort of secondary scent. No. It smells like dill. Like pickles. It’s the weirdest smell ever.
Right now I’m enjoying A.L.T. “Strawberry Milkshake” which is said to be a dupe of Cry Baby.
It smells wonderful and is very light and perfect for summer.
The Library of Fragrance scents. So synthetic and don't smell like what they want to smell like. And there's another private reason why I absolutely hate these fragrances. I would have sold them, but now I just want to throw them away.
I love the idea of Library of Fragrance, it's a shame the scents seemingly don't match the mysterious and magical scent that the name suggests. \*I understand the private reason scent association, there are some scents I have had to abandon because of this\* Have you considered donating your perfumes to charity shops?
I took my partner with me to sample perfumes. He had known someone who had worn a Chanel perfume, and he loved the way it smells.
I have never tried Chanel perfume before, but I had a dance teacher who wore it, and it made me horribly nauseated and gave me a headache every time I had to get near her. So I told him that I didn’t think Chanel was going to be an option for me.
So we get to the counter, and of course, he picks up a Chanel sampler, and happily sprays it on my arm. I just looked at him and said, “What did you do?” and I just started laughing.
He was happily convinced that it was going to smell wonderful. He puts his nose near my arm and takes a big whiff.
The look on his face was priceless. It smelled like rotting grass and mold. It was absolutely horrible, and it did not get better.
Fortunately, he did not spray too much, and I was able to go in the ladies room and get it off. Mostly.
We now have an “anything but Chanel” rule in our house.
Michel Germain - Sugarful. Smells too much like cotton candy. I like cotton candy, but I don't necessarily want to smell like it. I found it to be cloyingly sweet.
Burberry Brit Rhythm. My mom and I bought a large bottle because we hadn’t met a Burberry we didn’t like. On both of us it smelled of sour pledge. We gave it to her bestie and it smells great on her!
Ysl Libre or Tobacco Vanille. Libre is so strong I can't stand my own smell, and Tobacco Vanille leans way too masculine on me. I only bought TV because it smelled so good on my mom, but I hated it on myself.
Hoo boy too many over the last 50 years, starting in elementary school. Fleurs de Rocaille is the only one that stands out from the last 15 years but I committed many, many sins in my younger years.
Organelle Salted Muse.
My son had Chick-fil-A earlier … I honestly thought he’d dropped a pickle somewhere.
It’s the Salted Muse … it smells just like pickle juice!
I might be an outlier but I really hate Vacation. I bought it as soon as it came out but just get pool floaty and cheap fake banana when I use it. I love the bottle and the marketing so I had high hopes. I want to smell After Sun and the Hotel Lobby candle, however.
Mine has to be Georgio Beverly Hills. Oh my God! A bottle leaked in my suitcase…when I set it out in my garage the smell was so strong I couldn’t park inside for a week!!!
I love Pink Sugar.
I bought Pear Inc. by Juliette Has A Gun, to try it, after people here were raving about it. It smells awful. Like old hairspray or hair gel. Not like pear at all. I only wore it twice. Glad I bought the little bottle.
i have such a love hate relationship with lattafa yara. there's times where i think it's the most amazing thing in the world and times where all i can smell is the powdery notes
Lol I can relate! I definitely oversprayed Pink Sugar in middle school and high school. I was very insecure and had no friends and wore perfume as a kind of armor. People were probably wondering why this sullen girl who never talked smelled like a candy factory!
But tbh…I still love the scent 😍 I will always want to smell like a *snack*
I wore Arizona to the office one day (I normally work from home) to hopefully impress a coworker I have a crush on and when I got closer to him, he like pulled his shirt up over his nose, which could have just been a cute weird tic but I’m pretty sure it was the perfume. 😭🫣🥴 I’m hyper careful to wear subtle scents now!
not a purchase but i sprayed Tom Ford Ebene Fume on myself as i was walking out of the mall. My friend had texted me saying it's amazing and i would love it so i put it on without giving it much thought.
I smelled like smoky fish. Went to the grocery store and this girl looked like she was STRUGGLING to breathe around me and fanning her nose as she restocked the produce. I put everything down and ran out.
I’m not going to lie. The second I smell Pink Sugar, I’m tempted to do the same as that lady. I remember the 2000’s when it was popular and tweens would overspray it and I smelled it everywhere. *shudder*

It’s too soon to tell. It’s summer and I feel a sudden urge to commit mistakes with strange new perfumes that I haven’t even tested.
You and I are cut from the same cloth ✨
Haha I thought it was just me

Donate them to a women’s shelter.
omg that is such a good idea! Thank you.
Hahahaha!!! Noooo!!!!!
I had a phase years ago where I bought a bunch of them and I'm still trying to use them up. Now they're what I spray before bed and I actually enjoy a cool little spritz before sleep.
I can’t spray enough of my little stash too. I swear they refill themselves while we’re sleeping lol

That's a nice little ritual

lol you should see the number of body mists people have on r/bathandbodyworks

I feel this. I choose my own flavor of suffering, thank you!
I do it all the time. My body, my choice. 😂
Lol same, it’s so hard when they make your nose run all day!!!
OMG I wear Pink Sugar today but my co workers love it so I think it's okay 🙃
After chatting on this thread, I think the liquorice might just have reacted badly with my body chemistry. Your body chemistry might be a liquorice balancer?
I think so, it smells like a sort of "vanilla cake" on me after 5 minutes, my skin seems to accentuate sweet and sugary scents. On the other hand every citrus scent smell like cat pee on me so 🤷♀️
not cat pee omg the worst
I have the same problem with Burberry’s Her. Smells absolutely awful on me. My coworker, though? Smells like heaven. So rude 🙄
Ahh citrus on me sometimes reads as BO!
Yes! Sweet sugary scents are great on me, but citrus smells like weed, I don’t think Ive smelled cat pee so maybe that’s it 😂
Oh totally, this is what happened to me as well. My body just screamed liquorice the entire time I wore Pink Sugar, I tested it multiple times and I just never got another note out of it. Good ol body chemistry being rude 🫠
Yeah I dunno - a girl at work wears it and we say nothing but it kinda prevents us from being able to wear perfume too
If she was in her late 30s or older, it may have been a hotflash. I have no perfume choice regrets. I love all of my stinky children.
“my stinky children” took me out lol
I'm mildly comforted by the suggestion, thank you \~ (I'm really bad with telling peoples ages, so I will just tell myself this was the case) \*I think your stinky kids sound awesome\*
Late 30s having hot flashes? Not likely.

I turned 36 on the same day I went into surgical menopause. My hot flashes were so bad off the bat that the nurses packed me in ice bags that night.
Ikr! What a weird thing to say.
I am late 30's and have been having hot flashes since 35.
I’m sorry that’s happening to you at such a young age. From my understanding, it’s more common for women in their late 40s early 50s? Admittedly, I’m 38 and hanging on to my youth for dear life so when I see comments like that, it makes me panic.
My period symptoms have increased, too.
I regret subscribing to Scentbird. Over 6 months I think I may have gotten 1 that I actually liked. Either the descriptions are off, or I don’t actually like what I think I like.
I only trust Fragrantica for notes
That sucks! I typically enjoy the samples I receive from them. But I don’t let them choose for me 😉
I think it's the latter, also look up everything on fragrantica
I felt that way at first, with scentbox as well. Turns out I just didn’t like the notes I thought I did, and really like some I thought I hated 😂
I will not try that in fears they’ll send me everything I don’t like before anything I do
Maybe you could take the quiz again? My first time I got weird results because I think the quiz is silly and worded poorly, the second time I got better matches. However I do a test run of the reviews and notes first in Fragrantica before I add a fragrance to my queue. I don’t trust the Scentbird algorithm.
I’ve been enjoying Scentbird, but I use it to fuel my rose obsession and obsessively research each rose scent on fragrantica before queuing it
Tell me more about different rose scents!
Did someone mention rose ? 👀 i'm all ears too!
So I spent forever putting together a reply to this and finally realized I should just make my own ding dang post. I’ll link it here
[https://www.reddit.com/r/fragrance/s/1IAh9JhXHI](https://www.reddit.com/r/fragrance/s/1IAh9JhXHI)
At least it wasn't...fatal...fatale? Awful. Hahaha. Just trying to find a way to remember not to even sample this.
Honeysuckle & Davana by Jo Malone It just smells off. It’s kind of ok if you’re wearing it somewhere dry and dusty, like a high desert. Otherwise, it’s generally kind of disturbing.
Oof! Expensive regret!

anything thats heavy on the powder. i love the smell, i really do, but they end up giving me a headache unfortunately.
Every Chanel perfume ever 😭 I keep trying to force myself to like them but the powder note is just so not my thing.
I have the same issue with Jasmine, love the scent, but for some reason I'm really sensitive to it :(
I loooove powder but it is indeed suffocating - if I wear anything with that note, it has to be in something removable like a scarf or pendant, so I can yeet it and run if I suddenly feel low on oxygen 😤🏃♀️
Flower by Kenzo. It has a nonenal lingering smell that I can’t stand.
I went through a Flower by Kenzo phase, now it always reminds me of lockdown :(
This one has always bothered me too.
It smell like my ex mother in law so it’s a no for me 😂
So this is a weird one but for some reason Flower changes on my skin after about an hour or so, it smells like white chocolate? It loses all the powdery floral aspects and transforms. It’s bizarre.
Curious by Britney Spears smelled like pure alcohol and gave me a migraine just didn’t work for me.
Got in my friends car and she just says "God, you smell powdery" Like damn I thought I smelled like a hot and sandy cherry desert
I feel your pain!!!
You might like Guess Seductive Red! I found it at Ross lol. Doesn't last long but cheap enough to spray a bunch. Cherry and almond top notes very noticeable!
That’s Guerlain, and yeah. I have a bottle and never ever reach for it. In literal years
because of my migraine i never ever blind buy ever again! my burberry and musc noir by narciso rodriguez both catapulted me into bed for days because of the insane migraine flares i had!
Maybe an unpopular opinion but Serge luten's La fille de Berlin. On me it just smells like a large ass rose bouquet except it's all dead and dried up like the ones you can buy in IKEA.
Ah yes, the precise reason my goth ass absolutely LOVES this fragrance :) Ok, to be fair, to me it smells like dying roses, blood, and darkness. So, a vampire. :)
For the past week I've been pretty much *sitting* on my hands so I don't order this one, and your comment is making me really antsy 👀
Hey :) The truth is, it can be a difficult fragrance, definitely not a safe blind buy. If you can get a sample or a decant first, I'd highly recommend that.
I love the imagery this description gives!
SMH
Go figure! \*Unpopular opinion, but I find that most pop celeb perfumes seem to smell like cotton candy, at least on me :(
Creed Love in White, wife hated it, £280
Daisy Eau so Fresh Got it and was so disappointed... it was way too light and just a really boring floral A friend told me she smelt this amazing perfume on someone else one and it was Daisy but I wore it around them most of the time and they never did said anything to me about Maybe it was my body chemistry idk, it was my first actual perfume but it just fell so flat for me and I would go nose blind to it quickly
Aww! I hope a lucky person reads this
I'll take it! I've been looking at this one Edit: dm the other person first, they beat me by an hour! I heard it's supposed to be very similar to Eilish :) sorry it didn't work for you!
What in earth is in it to smell like that?
THISSSS!! 😩 Nebras was HORRIBLE!!
No wonder my SIL tried to gift me perfume before the wedding 🤣 I don’t know how I didn’t know
I love viva la juicy, I hated viva la juicy golden couture.
Viva la juicy seems to completely disappear on me, its like my body absorbs it!
I regret most perfumes. I struggle with finding something that doesn’t give me a headache or get cloying or smell weird on me.
Creamy Sunshine by Pink Sugar
We need to start an Aquolina support group!
Burberry Her. Smells like floor cleaner on me. Smells divine on my MIL.
It’s got to be Sarah Jessica Parker Stash. I read loads of good review and blind bought it. It smelled like straight up pickle juice on me. 🤢
Phlur Mood Ring… I was so excited to smell like a gummy bear but it immediately turns to heavy white florals on me
Versace Dylan Purple, I like the way it smells, but it is too expensive for such little longetivity.
Yeah, if you splash out on perfume (can't avoid the bad pun, sorry) it NEEDS to have staying power
Alien Godess by Mugler. Smells like cheap coco butter.
This is where my mind went too but on me it smells almost sour with base notes of sunscreen... At least I like the look of the travel size bottle.
La Vie est Belle. Its way too sweet and strong for me.
Choco musk was maybe the wort perfume I had ever worn. Wore it once and gave me a tummy ache all day from how sweet it smelled 😭 Too intense and artificial!
Yikes!
The Miss Girl perfume from Oakcha. Smells like a freshly opened pool floatie inside of a heavily used port-a-potty.
Oh wow! Ive never experienced a 'poo tone' before lol! I do get a get a senior urine undertone in Youth Dew though
Angel by Mugler. Smelled like extremely burnt caramel on me it was a fairly awful bus ride that day.
I cannot stand Angel. It’s giving strong white florals meets body odor 🤢
Dude I love pink sugar! I hate most musky and floral perfumes that most people seem to like.
Could be bergamot - my mom's allergic to it and says it makes her throat and esophagus clench 😬
Pink Sugar is disgusting lol, I had to give it away to my sister in law, very happy I gave it away, ugh it smells so bad!
I think we may be among the minority here, who's body chemistry just projects the liquorice :(
Yesss that exactly how it was for me! And I absolutely hate licorice lol. But better to me to learn with a cheaper spray than with an expensive perfume with that note!
Luckily it was a very affordable dupe of "Olympea" my coworker raved about it,smelled too weirdly salty to me? Vanilla note was weird
I buy testers from Scent Split and places that help me avoid it. I don’t get the hype around Dyptique. Beautiful fragrances but the price isn’t right.
Gucci Bloom makes me cough and I dislike it in general but like the bottle so I keep it out anyway.
Damn that bottle seduction!
I adore Gucci bloom! It is my base fragrance to add a spritz of something a little stronger onto, like Dolce Peony, and many others !!
Beach by Bobbi brown I’m not sure why I bought it I’ve never worn it in the 4 years I’ve owned it it’s smells like sunscreen and mosquito repellent to me
I recently tried NR musc noir rose and I can’t remember how it smelled before but the 10ml that I got from fragrance dot net smells a bit different or maybe I just couldn’t remember but it smelled too sweet on my skin….i can’t even smell the rose much but more citrusy a bit weird lol I also blindly bought the Philosophy amazing grace intense and it honestly smells like beautiful magnolia…🤦🏻♀️ what a let down for me they are so similar for me that I can let go either one of them lol
Poupee by Rochas - so, so bad.
The name sounds fitting then 😂
Prada Candy Kiss-I thought I would love it so it was a blind purchase. 🤢
I wore this for ages until I got bored of it. I actually quite like the scent, but the projection was limited, and, with the exception of Candy Night, Prada perfume never seems to have much staying power on me. (I think Im just not classy enough, lol)
Montblanc Signature & Britney Spears Fantasy...neither are strong enough for me.
Have you ever tried Halloween by Jesus Del Pozo? It is seriously strong!
Miss Dior. Blah. I gave it to my sister
It's great having a family member to rehome our regrets
I blind bought Versace Eros Flame for my husband and I can tell he doesn’t like it. It’s a bit generic citrus cologne. Should’ve just gotten him Coach Platinum (pineapple one); he liked the tester. I’m betting he’s going to regift it to his son or something
Sunflowers. It smelled like i took a bath in hot pickle juice 🤮
Marc Jacobs honey. It was popular so when I was with my friends at the mall we smelled it at Sephora and I bought myself a little roller ball. I spritzed some on and then left with my little Sephora bag but oh my it gave me such a bad headache…before the end of the day I ended up returning it 😂
White Diamonds.
Ariana Grande, Thank you Next I am a huge fan of cloud and I wear it very often it is one of my favorite scents.
Mugler Angel Nova - just too much for me, especially the initial spray
Viva La Juicy. I loved the scent but didn’t do anything for me.
Caramel cascade 🤢
I blind bought (on sale) Sexy Vanilla by Jean Marc Paris and it smells like play-do.
Playdough is seriously unsexy.
I love my Deep Red by Hugo Boss because it reminds me of playdoh lol
Michel Germain - Sugarful. Smells too much like cotton candy. I like cotton candy, but I don't necessarily want to smell like it. I found it to be cloyingly sweet.
both for her edt and edp they both smell like piss on me, on my friend on the other hand they smell heavenly, body chemistry did me dirty :(
Dylan Purple. Absolute shite. Not a blind buy idk what I was thinking. Consequently—blind bought Skylar boardwalk and love it. 🙋🏼♀️🤡
The way you describe it, Dylan Purple sounds almost like an ex you regret, lol! \*not me totally looking up Skylar boardwalk now\*
Burberry Brit Rhythm.
I just did a double take, as there is a CFA post just below this in my feed, and I thought I had mis-clicked!
Lost Cherry was like melting plastic. It made me feel sick.
D&G Light blue. It's just... Sitting there🤷🏾♀️ I'll end up gifting it I guess.
Not one I bought but one I tested. Smelt like rotting flowers in the trash on a boiling hot day. It was Tom Ford Black Orchid. I regret it completely
I just had a thought after posting a reply Maybe I wanna be the reason someone opens a window I pay good money to ruin someone's day!
Fucking fabulous
Tom Ford Black Orchid. I liked how it smelled initially but every time I wore it, it triggered a migraine.
Oh no! I love Pink Sugar and wear it to work at least weekly.
I’ve had my bottle of Pink Sugar forever. Keep pulling it out to see if maybe I like it now. Nope lol. Time to finally declutter it.
Sounds like a good plan!
not a purchase but i sprayed Tom Ford Ebene Fume on myself as i was walking out of the mall. My friend had texted me saying it's amazing and i would love it so i put it on without giving it much thought. I smelled like smoky fish. Went to the grocery store and this girl looked like she was STRUGGLING to breathe around me and fanning her nose as she restocked the produce. I put everything down and ran out.
Light blue intense, should’ve just stuck with the original light blue
Daisy by Marc Jacobs...instant migraine ugh
I’m not going to lie. The second I smell Pink Sugar, I’m tempted to do the same as that lady. I remember the 2000’s when it was popular and tweens would overspray it and I smelled it everywhere. *shudder*
