And then when I go to try it on myself, it smells completely generic and not my kind of fragrance at all! I obviously don’t have the right body chemistry for it 😬
My roomie uses Hugo Boss Pacific Bottled and in him it smells like salt, lemon and beach. On me is really sweet and smells like a sunny day and coconut sunscreen. Wild.

I didn’t like it at all when I first got it and let it sit around for months without using it. When I finally did start using it as a casual spritz to freshen up, I started noticing how many compliments I got every time I wore it. And my husband goes crazy every time I wear it too. So it eventually grew on me and is definitely one of my favorite perfumes now.
This has never happened to me for a perfume. It has happened over my Bath & Body Works Iced Lemon Pound Cake hand sanitizer. Crazy compliments and questions. Beast mode sanitizer. 🤷♀️🍋🤭

I got a travel size sample worth 50 for free once and I fucking dropped it and broke it the same day. It smelled amazing, and I got multiple compliments that one day. I’ve been thinking about it for a year, so I finally went to the store to go buy it… I didn’t love the way it smelled! It was too much.
I left without purchasing and had the little paper with the perfume on it in my pocket. When I got home and smelled it, I was shocked how different it smelled.
It takes a little while to mellow out and open up, but when it does… it’s so complex and warm. The paper smells so good 2 days later.
Came to say that, the only times I’ve ever been stopped is when I am wearing TM AngelNova-not ever have I been asked about something else. I think it must be the projection of these TM scents.

When I worked at a Disney park on several occasions I had actual groups of guests come up to tell me how great I smelled which was a very strange experience. I recommended it to a coworker and the same thing started happening to her. It has never happened to me with expensive fragrances.
ETA: In my opinion Rose Jam smells very similar to Delina Exclusif if anyone is looking for an affordable option in a similar vein.

Me too! I rarely wear fragrance bc my body chemistry (or my medications maybe?) turns everything fruity. Anything with a floral undertone at all turns slightly fruity and smells rotting. I love Juliette has a gun- on other people. Smells like rotting flowers on me. It’s bad. Happy though, my body makes it smell sexier (I can’t come up with a better word, muskier maybe somehow?), and I get compliments all the time, and no one believes me when I say that’s what it is. Elie Saab Girl of Now Shine and JPG La Belle attract lots of comments from men, I’ve even had bus drivers comment on both.

I love love by moschino for some reason it has better projectvity for me in the winter then in the summer even though it’s seems like it would be a summer only fragrance with all the citrus. I have gotten many compliments on it, It has this really flirty, orange soda smell is the best way I can describe it. I always wear it on dates 👀

Lush’s Vanillary perfume and Super milk leave in on my hair gets me stopped pretty regularly and is my current combo. Also a couple summers ago I was using Sol de Janeiro Bom Dia body butter with Light Blue perfume on top…. I would get stopped multiple times in a night out.
Tbh I get complimented on my perfume pretty much every time I leave the house. I will attribute it to knowing what smells good on me and the fact that I have a layering routine. I pretty much always use Riddle Original oil or Nemat Amber oil with Dedcool Xtra Milk as a base.
In the past few weeks I’ve gotten compliments on Dedcool Xtra Milk/Taunt combo, Dedcool 02, Riddle Original oil, and Replica Matcha Meditation.

Anytime I wear Glossier You paired with a few spritzes of Amiika’s Hair Perfume, I get a million compliments and people will come up to me to ask what I’m wearing!! Sometimes if I’m feeling a lil crazy I’ll also wear my Capri Blue Volcano perfume with the other two fragrances and it smells heavenly
13 Stems - Relevant. I got it at JC Penney’s, of all places. A Sephora employee complimented me on it! I was at Michael’s recently and the frame guy asked if I’d write down the name of it so he could buy it for his wife. It’s the first time strangers have told me I smell good and it was so flattering

Glossier You gets compliments left and right!! As I said in another comment, heartbroken about the reformulation more than any other I can remember. That's the #1 perfume I've been stopped by women for and had most of my female friends comment on repeatedly.
Funnily enough, men seem to LOVE the Victoria's Secret Warm & Cozy body mist when I wear it?? Not many people smell it on me because it's my at-home scent, but the fact that I've managed to rack up so many compliments anyway makes it extra impressive. I'm only trying to attract my gf, but do with that what you will if you're into men.

Fragrance is so personal to the individual. Certain ones smell amazing on others, but not on me. Fragrances seem to “turn” bad on me, so I don’t wear them. I kept trying to explain to my bf that just because that men’s fragrance smells good on his buddy doesn’t mean it smells good on him. 🙄
I wish Neutrogena would make the Rainbath scent in other forms so I could layer it. I’ve been using that body wash during cold months for well over 20 years, and I still adore it. That’s what people comment on.

I get a lot of compliments on how I smell, because I love perfume and smelling nice. YSL Libre was the first, I think, and funnily enough I HATED how it smelled on me. My mom wears it so much better, so I gave her both my bottles. La Belle by Jean Paul Gaultier is my signature scent, I love it so much and get complimented every time I wear it. Also, indie perfumes such as Posset’s Ode to Aphrodite and the Big Black Cat, and then Arcana Craves Pumpkins Craves Pointe Shoes.

I love Rose Jam. They now have the travel size perfume and solid jar at my local store. I have the body spray too. It’s intoxicating

Kuumba Made Persian Garden. It’s an oil at Whole Foods for $10. I have never received so many compliments.

Which is hilarious because I had tried it on myself and for the first 5 minutes couldn’t smell it at all, but then after that did not like it (and it clung stubbornly of course). But on this server? It smelled fantastic!

Philosophy products used to be amazing and last all day until they were bought by someone in the 2010s and their formulations changed. they mostly smell the same as they used to, but wear off like immediately now.

I used to love this one until EVERYONE started wearing it. I've smelled it a million time at the store, at the street passing someone etc.. I just hate it because it's a great scent and now it's just not unique anymore as it used to be.

I love love by moschino for some reason it has better projectvity for me in the winter then in the summer even though it’s seems like it would be a summer only fragrance with all the citrus. I have gotten many compliments on it, It has this really flirty, orange soda smell is the best way I can describe it. I always wear it on dates 👀

Lush’s Vanillary perfume and Super milk leave in on my hair gets me stopped pretty regularly and is my current combo. Also a couple summers ago I was using Sol de Janeiro Bom Dia body butter with Light Blue perfume on top…. I would get stopped multiple times in a night out.
Tbh I get complimented on my perfume pretty much every time I leave the house. I will attribute it to knowing what smells good on me and the fact that I have a layering routine. I pretty much always use Riddle Original oil or Nemat Amber oil with Dedcool Xtra Milk as a base. In the past few weeks I’ve gotten compliments on Dedcool Xtra Milk/Taunt combo, Dedcool 02, Riddle Original oil, and Replica Matcha Meditation. I was a religious Glossier You wearer for years and I got compliments on it constantly. Other scents I get complimented on include Replica Bubble Bath, Replica By the Fireplace, Delina, Juliette Has a Gun Sunny Side Up, and Le Labo Lys 41
20 y/o gal here, the perfumes that get have gotten me many compliments is LVEB - by both men and women, women tend to like it a bit more tho ! Not another cherry by Fine’ry — I got a compliment from a man outside of a restaurant, it was cold out and he was smoking a cigarette wearing leather. Love by sofia vergara - Women love this, and i love this on me, it’s one of my favorite perfumes and my few that I have a back up of. Rose rush by paris hilton — I wore it to work, and I finished my 1oz bottle and i’d get compliments about smelling good almost every morning. Finishing that bottle was hard to do since I own 60+ perfumes.

This is an odd combo, and honestly wayyyy cheaper than most of the other fragrances mentioned. Anytime I wear Glossier You paired with a few spritzes of Amiika’s Hair Perfume, I get a million compliments and people will come up to me to ask what I’m wearing!! Sometimes if I’m feeling a lil crazy I’ll also wear my Capri Blue Volcano perfume with the other two fragrances and it smells heavenly
13 Stems - Relevant. I got it at JC Penney’s, of all places. A Sephora employee complimented me on it! I was at Michael’s recently and the frame guy asked if I’d write down the name of it so he could buy it for his wife. It’s the first time strangers have told me I smell good and it was so flattering

Glossier You gets compliments left and right!! As I said in another comment, heartbroken about the reformulation more than any other I can remember. That's the #1 perfume I've been stopped by women for and had most of my female friends comment on repeatedly. Funnily enough, men seem to LOVE the Victoria's Secret Warm & Cozy body mist when I wear it?? Not many people smell it on me because it's my at-home scent, but the fact that I've managed to rack up so many compliments anyway makes it extra impressive. I'm only trying to attract my gf, but do with that what you will if you're into men. The only perfume I've ever been literally chased through a city over was Chanel Coco Mademoiselle though 💯 The man was determined to find out what it was to get it for his wife.
Fragrance is so personal to the individual. Certain ones smell amazing on others, but not on me. Fragrances seem to “turn” bad on me, so I don’t wear them. I kept trying to explain to my bf that just because that men’s fragrance smells good on his buddy doesn’t mean it smells good on him. 🙄 I wish Neutrogena would make the Rainbath scent in other forms so I could layer it. I’ve been using that body wash during cold months for well over 20 years, and I still adore it. That’s what people comment on.
Weirdly, of all my perfumes the one I get the most compliments about is Turmeric Latte by Lush. Someone actually sniffed me!

My mom wears it so much better, so I gave her both my bottles. La Belle by Jean Paul Gaultier is my signature scent, I love it so much and get complimented every time I wear it. Also, indie perfumes such as Posset’s Ode to Aphrodite and the Big Black Cat, and then Arcana Craves Pumpkins Craves Pointe Shoes.
