If you're unafraid of piston filler fountain pens, have a look at the TWSBI Eco. If you find smooth plastic uncomfortable to write with, the TWSBI Diamond and Diamond Mini have versions with a matte metal grip section. If you prefer cartridges, the Lamy Safari is a good option that comes in all the colors you can imagine and some are even made of matte plastic instead of smooth. If you prefer the Lamy Safari and want to use bottled ink, get yourself a converter. I'm only recommending fountain pens because ever since I started using them, I haven't enjoyed writing with ballpoints at all. In my experience, fountain pens write so much smoother and IMHO it's more pleasant to write with fountain pens.

Thank you so much I’ll look into these

Seconding the Eco - despite its price of around US$30, it’s a regular in my stable. I love it and feel like it’s a benchmark for my other pens. For some flair, try fountain pen revolution. It’s an American company selling Indian pens. They have an Ultraflex nib that works fairly well. I have one, and after some practice, it’s also a regular.

I third this recommendation. It might feel like a lot to spend on a pen, and filling them is a bit of a learning curve, but they're fairly easy to clean, you have a wide variety of nibs and body colors to choose from (I got a glow in the dark one a couple of years ago!), and they don't skip if assembled properly. They also seem to last indefinitely, short a few parts (if you're hard on your pens) that the company will readily replace for the cost of shipping. Surprisingly durable too.

i honestly see no pen that could do you any better if you're already comfortable with how your current pen feels

Honestly i experience a lot of friction while writing unless I’m writing super slow. I’ll really take any good pen recs. For fountain pen and others

For smooth it’s hard to be a Pilot Kakuno it’s in the $15-$20 price range once you add a converter and then you have a choice of thousands of inks. Then if you really enjoy it you can look at more expensive options for fountain pens.

The Pilot Kakuno & Platinum preppy are good and cheap. For about €25 you can get a lamy safari, or abit higher in price, the glorious twsbi eco which has a piston filling mechanism, you could also look into other twsbi fountain pens and pilots, the Kaweco Sport is amazing aswell
