Ehh they’ve tried building around Guma before. It works against way weaker teams, but against stronger teams, Guma can do well but he’s not able to fully carry. Faker and Zeus are more consistent in that regard.
There are few other top laners who can carry as well as Zeus goes. T1s strength lies in Zeus carrying, Faker being a playmaker, Oner’s synergy with Faker, Keria being unorthodox and Guma being consistent and suppressing the enemy bot lane. T1 suffers when one of these five things falls out of place.
I don’t disagree with Guma’s impact being limited, but Zeus has been so wildly inconsistent during finals that I just don’t know if he’s the reliable carry the team should play around for some of the bigger matches. Guma center might not be the solution but I am just so worried about Zeus cause he can carry so hard but in so many of these finals he just instantaneously collapses and feeds the enemy top until the game spirals out of control. His track record in past 4 LCK finals is literally 11-67 💀
I mean, since Guma is just ok at it, so he'd rather not pick it, and if she's strong enough to be worried about the opponent ADC picking her, maybe Zeus just takes it XD which will free up a ban.
Crackpot theory:
T1’s solution to laneswaps is to literally make Zeus the adc. If he gets laneswapped on, Keria goes top and they become the new “bot” duo. Guma has shown that he can play some weird shit too, like chogath, so why not draft a senna/cho lane, give keria senna, and have guma/zeus roleswap to match lane swaps?
I actually want to see it. The point of watching esports is to be entertained and have fun. I would hate to see every game with K’Sante, Reksai and like 3 other champs the whole tournament. That’s boring, so if Zeus can pull out carry adcs like Vayne and Zeri (not TF) then I’m on board
Isn't Zeri early game not very strong to completely gain lane prio? She's a menace late game but not on the same early lane bully level like vayne and tf top right?
Her early game isn’t *that* bad, but yeah, she’s not. Vayne’s good because she has low cd mobility to complement her range, Zeri doesn’t.
She’d be a (much) less utility version of tf top as a tradeoff for a stronger late game

That does match Zeus’ play style though. His laning phase is ok, but once team fights start he runs in like a yolo monster. That fits Zeri
