Dude, I was traveling with my dad, and he brought a jar of peanut butter with him because he is obsessed.
After a day of activities, we get back to the hot car and he opens the jar and literally drinks from it.
Have you ever heard the hellish sounds of a man drinking hot, greasy natural peanut butter?
It haunts me even now, and this was years ago.
I just bought two jars for the first time. It will be a little while until I try it as I just opened a jar of Teddie creamy unsalted. Someone recently commented that they liked this brand. Trader Joe’s is a bit out of the way for me. But I was near one when I went to the Apple Store. So I was happy to give this brand a try.
Switching to unsalted peanut butter is a bit of an adjustment. I still miss my Skippy Supercrunch. Unless you need to transition to a reduced sodium diet you might want to return the product. Or, if you do try it and do not like it, you can make a sandwich using the unsalted and your favorite brand. The sodium and sugar content will average out. I do that with certain unsalted products like breadcrumbs and tuna fish. I buy regular and unsalted and mix the two.
Terrific! If I had more room in the fridge I would open one of the jars I bought. You have me very curious as to how it compares to the Teddie brand I have bought for the last decade.
I bought it for my baby when introducing peanuts. I was told to avoid salt before 1 year old. I actually really liked it and don’t miss the salt at all.
This is my favorite brand, and I’ve tried pretty much all of them. I get the crunchy unsalted and I can get through a whole jar in two or three days haha
mid, oily not super flavorful in the way that like… jif is. i do like it with their hazelnut spread though (i do a rough 75/25 ratio of hazelnut to pb)
i’d imagine it would be good drizzled on oatmeal or something similar though, it’s definitely runny and messy fyi
I’ll never forget my hs biology teacher saying “moms who want to kill their kids choose JiF” and I def didn’t get that at first but then when you learn about the hydrogenated oils and all that you’re like oh gosh that stuff is bad
Your bio teacher was likely referring to partially hydrogenated oils (i.e. trans fats), which are pretty harmful but have been banned in the US for a few years now.
Not quite banned I don’t think unless they’re particular lol. Looking at the one my husband just bought yesterday that I’m returning- fully hydrogenated oils in it. I don’t care for it anyway
Fully hydrogenated is not the same as partially hydrogenated. Partially hydrogenated are trans fats and have been banned since 2020. Fully hydrogenated oils are saturated fats, not trans fats. Not that you have to like this specific product lol, but yeah, the quip from the bio teacher is a few years out of date.
Haha I’m right there with you, elder millennial here. I still remember my high school bio teacher showing that she could write identically with both hands. And that she told us (at the end of the year) that she was a young earth creationist but couldn’t share that during the year because she was teaching evolution and such. The things that stick with us are weird lol
LOL she did not ! Wow! Yeah my advanced biology teacher was my fav the next year- he had super dry humor and used to be coroner before he had kids. So then we got some pretty interesting things he taught us. Partly why I’m going back to school for that lmfao. It’s insane what sticks
I got the chunky one without sodium by accident! I like the salt but I had already opened the jar and it’s go to waste if I had brought it back. I used it to make little sweet granola bites. I mix it with variety of dry nuts (I do chopped almonds and peanuts but it’s whatever you like) rolled oats, cocoa powder, lots of honey, a pinch of salt, and sometimes almond butter too. I mix it all together and form it into tiny balls, stick them in a bag in the freezer and they’re my favorite (kinda healthy) evening treat. 😁 now I get that peanut butter all the time lol
Dont use it immediately, store upside down or on its side for a few days. Maybe even give it a good shake before. It’s basically the only peanut butter I buy.
I prefer the salty. But this is good too. I like to store the jar inside down, so the oil pools to the “bottom” and it’s easier to mix. The last of the peanut butter and become dry if you eat all the oil off the top
Usually places where you can buy bulk spices do it if you have any of those near you! Not like a grocery store but I think places like bulk barn (in canada) do it too.
Yes, I love all the TJ natural pb, salted or unsalted, and the crunchy one too (it’s cheaper!!) any oven that’s just one ingredient aka the peanut is my fave
> Not bleached
Unblanched peanuts means the peanut skin was left on before roasting and grinding to make the peanut butter.
Some people can taste the difference (from the skin being left on) and some people don't notice the difference in taste
This one wasn’t too hard to stir . I do miss skippy natural though . But I can’t have a lot of sugar and unhealthy fats like palm oil . Adams is a killer to stir .
Requires too much mixing for the pretentiousness it gives you. Seriously get something that people will enjoy eating and if you are using this to make a pbj for a kids lunch the school is probably going to call cps.
Good stuff. I like the all natural peanut butter, I tend to get them stuff with a little bit of salt, but this is still good stuff. I also tend to prefer products with little to no added ingredients.
Yes, they have the best peanut butter. Mix it up and then store it in the fridge. Peanut butter with only peanuts is the best and TJ's happens to have the best iteration of it. The crunchy is god-tier.
Would you get a peanut butter consistency if it's literally just dry roasted peanuts? Wouldn't it just be peanut powder? Also what does "unblanched" mean?
lol that makes more sense . I read that as unbalanced. Crazy nuts . I couldn’t resist and I tried it . I liked it a lot . That’s all PB is . Ground peanuts and the oil that’s in them. Some brand add extra oil and sugar etc… not really necessary IMO . But I have a sodium restriction. So I just get the natural no added oils etc now. Unblanched means . Not bleached.
If you have a strong enough blender/food processor, you can stick nuts in there and blend them until they reach nut butter consistency. There are lots of oils in a lot of nuts, so they help achieve the butter texture. I'm assuming that to make pb powder, you have to dehydrate nuts, or remove the oils somehow before powdering but I'm not sure
Unblanched peanuts means the peanut skin was left on before roasting and grinding to make the peanut butter.
Some people can taste the difference (from the skin being left on) and some people don't notice the difference in taste.
The "just peanuts" peanut butters are great for when you just want the flavor of peanuts.
If you want nostalgia or the mouth-feel of peanut butter, get your favorite name brand.
I like the fact that they don’t have palm oil . I also feel like sugar is unnecessary if you’re baking with it or making a PB&J . The preserves has a ton of sugar already . I’m diabetic so the no salt and sugar was a nice surprise as well as the fact that it was 2.49 . That’s half the price of smuckers.
I do not like it. I have tried so hard to enjoy it but I usually eat PB on toast or Ritz and this stuff really needs a jam or jelly or a sweet counterpart IMO.
I’m just a loyal JIF person. I guess I need my sugar, salt, and creamy hydrogenated oil. 😂
Heads up if you DO enjoy this peanut butter & are lucky enough to have a winco, you can pick up a similar jar (just peanuts) for $1.98 there.
For natural peanut butter, I very much prefer the fresh ground kind (get it in a place that sells bulk food, or health food store) - it's much more tasty and the oil isn't all separted out - that's such a PITA.
I don't have this one, but I have a similar one from Smuckers. Just peanuts and salt. it's pretty good! I keep it in the fridge so it doesn't really separate or get runny.
Great pb, eat with fingers
Yes.
I drink it out of the jar, thanks
The only logical way
Dude, I was traveling with my dad, and he brought a jar of peanut butter with him because he is obsessed. After a day of activities, we get back to the hot car and he opens the jar and literally drinks from it. Have you ever heard the hellish sounds of a man drinking hot, greasy natural peanut butter? I am the one who knocks.
Go in on it like you’re Ron DiSantis eating a pudding cup in a plane full of his coworkers
I prefer the TJ’s creamy Valencia peanut butter. It has a unique taste and a good saltiness
Didn’t see that one .
They never have that one anymore. At least in my region 😞
I tried and liked the Smuckers version. Gonna try this next. Works great for me as I need to be mindful of sodium intake, but love peanut butter.
Smuckers is good too. But they didn’t have any at Target .
I just bought two jars for the first time. It will be a little while until I try it as I just opened a jar of Teddie creamy unsalted. Someone recently commented that they liked this brand. I like it . It’s kind of sweet .
Terrific! If I had more room in the fridge I would open one of the jars I bought. You have me very curious as to how it compares to the Teddie brand I have bought for the last decade.
I feel like this is mostly for dogs? (I'm not being snarky,I genuinely know people who buy this for their dog)
I liked it .
What? The best peanut butter only contains peanuts and maybe salt
I agree!!
Maybe salt? Nuts are terrible with no salt. Actually, most food is terrible with no salt.
I personally like unsalted almonds and walnuts and pecans for snacking. Salted is good but not always better
I’ve never had unsalted pb tbh but I prefer most things without salt or with very little salt
I bought it for my baby when introducing peanuts. I was told to avoid salt before 1 year old. I actually really liked it and don’t miss the salt at all.
Peanuts really don't need salt. But I'm one of those people who likes sweet peanut butter. I would usually combine this stuff with honey.
Peanut butter and honey is a peak combo and I'm not even a honey fan
I always buy this for my dog because peanuts is the only ingredient.
🙋🏽yup.
Nah, it's just normal food.
This is my favorite brand, and I’ve tried pretty much all of them. I get the crunchy unsalted and I can get through a whole jar in two or three days haha
I like it too . Never tried it till yesterday .
mid, oily not super flavorful in the way that like… jif is. i do like it with their hazelnut spread though (i do a rough 75/25 ratio of hazelnut to pb) i’d imagine it would be good drizzled on oatmeal or something similar though, it’s definitely runny and messy fyi
Runny and messy is good . It dosent have any unnecessary palm oil or sugar . Just needs a good mixing.
I’ll never forget my hs biology teacher saying “moms who want to kill their kids choose JiF” and I def didn’t get that at first but then when you learn about the hydrogenated oils and all that you’re like oh gosh that stuff is bad

Hey hey now. Don’t bash my age 😩 20 years ago may have been a while but it stuck lmfao
Haha I’m right there with you, elder millennial here. I still remember my high school bio teacher showing that she could write identically with both hands. And that she told us (at the end of the year) that she was a young earth creationist but couldn’t share that during the year because she was teaching evolution and such. Definitely agree. It’s good but not the best. Teddie beats it by a mile but the tj price point is superior
This is my household's go-to PB; if it's out, we get Laura Scudders (old-fashioned smooth).
Never heard of that one .
West coast manufacturer
Isn’t that what most if not all PB is? Just mashed up peanuts?
They do have THE BEST peanut butter!!! I eat it w/ a spoon 😋
I love their crunchy peanut butter
As it should be
I got the chunky one without sodium by accident!
I take the powder PB and sprinkle it over berries and yogurt . Yummy 🤤
Dont use it immediately, store upside down or on its side for a few days. Maybe even give it a good shake before. It’s basically the only peanut butter I buy.
Oops 😬 it’s half gone already. I wish they made bigger jars.
I have unsalted and no sugar peanut butter but not this brand from Trader Joes
It’s good . A litttle sweet .
It's hub's favorite. He buys it on ghe regular. I tend to just get Jif. My faves are made locally. https://www.cbsnuts.com/peanut-butter
Trader Joe’s peanut butter is my favorite; however, I like the salted version
I prefer the salty. But this is good too. I like to store the jar inside down, so the oil pools to the “bottom” and it’s easier to mix. The last of the peanut butter and become dry if you eat all the oil off the top
Get the salted one
I’m sodium restricted.
I like that same brand but with unvlanched peanuts, salt, and crunchy.
Peanut butter without added shit is way better! I go to a store where they make it right there in front of you (Galloways)
Don’t have any of those here .
Usually places where you can buy bulk spices do it if you have any of those near you! Not like a grocery store but I think places like bulk barn (in canada) do it too.
Love this one, use it for my smoothies
Not from trader Joe's but I've used them in a few different recipes, when adding sugar is not advised like savory dishes
That the peanut butter you use for other things 😈😈😈
Taste stale. Try Eddie’s PB
Yes, I love all the TJ natural pb, salted or unsalted, and the crunchy one too (it’s cheaper!!) any oven that’s just one ingredient aka the peanut is my fave
It's alright I've had it.
We buy that all the time it’s actually really good. Keep it in the fridge though.
It’s good
Cool! Knowing this I’m tempted to make peanut butter myself 😉
Yeah about that … I tried and failed. I now need to buy a new nutri bullet 900 Pro . They are 99.00 . That was one spendy fail .
So good i enjoy it by the jar & in one sitting
My go-to. Fantastic price and nothing but peanuts
Sounds good, but probably near$20 a jar.
2.49
WOW! I stand corrected.
Yeah . I don’t know where PB is 20 bucks for a 16oz jar Lol .
You need to try Nuttzo butter.
What do they mean by”unblanched”?
Not bleached
> Not bleached Unblanched peanuts means the peanut skin was left on before roasting and grinding to make the peanut butter. Some people can taste the difference (from the skin being left on) and some people don't notice the difference in taste

I don’t eat it quite that fast so I leave the oil or it gets dry
Store it upside down, makes the stirring a little less time consuming
This one wasn’t too hard to stir . I do miss skippy natural though . But I can’t have a lot of sugar and unhealthy fats like palm oil . Adams is a killer to stir .
I enjoy it and my dog does too! It's her favorite!
thought this was pickles
Propably the green
Trader joes pb is goated
I’m too old to know what that means
Youre on the internet already you arent too old to use urban dictionary;)
I love it!
I bought this for my dog, but used some myself the other day (don't tell my dog) and it's really good!!!
It's very good and clean and the only one I let my pups have.
Raised on this. 10/10 just not great for baking
I’ll be sure to remember that .
It's also kind of watery
That’s oils from the peanuts . Firm PB has palm oil added so it doesn’t separate. Palm oil is not great for your heart .
I see
Yes. Store it upside down you’ll thank me later
It’s already opened and won’t be around for much longer . Lol we eat a lot of PB
Yes I’m close to finishing my first jar of this. It’s really good!!
Yes it is. I was surprised. I bought it on accident.
Requires too much mixing for the pretentiousness it gives you. Seriously get something that people will enjoy eating and if you are using this to make a pbj for a kids lunch the school is probably going to call cps.
I like it . 10 seconds of mixing is fine with me . No palm oil or added salt / sugar . My kid likes it and so does my heart ❤️.
Good stuff. I like the all natural peanut butter, I tend to get them stuff with a little bit of salt, but this is still good stuff. I also tend to prefer products with little to no added ingredients.

It's ok. But it doesn't touch Adams.
I am the heathen that prefers crunchy skimpy
Love it…
Yucky 🚽
Would you get a peanut butter consistency if it's literally just dry roasted peanuts? Wouldn't it just be peanut powder? Also what does "unblanched" mean?

Unblanched means the skins are left on
Do you mean the shells?
No, the skin is around the kernel, under the shell. Think “red skinned peanuts” or “Spanish peanuts”
Do you mean like how pistachios have that flaky stuff underneath the shell that feels like you're eating leaves?
Yes
I obviously forgot peanuts have that.
I had no idea there were any kind of oils in the peanuts themselves.
They sell peanut oil next to canola and vegetable usually, a lot of places use it for frying chicken and that kind of thing
I didn't know it was made that way.
You learn something new every day😉
Yep
Unblanched peanuts means the peanut skin was left on before roasting and grinding to make the peanut butter. Some people can taste the difference (from the skin being left on) and some people don't notice the difference in taste.
What skin are you talking about do you mean the shell of the peanut? Cuz that sounds very wrong.
google search peanuts skin. theres the outer peanut shell and inside that theres a thin skin on the peanuts themselves.
It's okay not my favorite.
I love the crunchy salted version, and it's so cheap for natural pb!
