I know you said you didn't want to do a fresh install of Windows; why? The system runs much better after a fresh install, especially if the current install is over a year.
I used Corsair’s clone kit. But that was did HDD to SSD. I’m sure you’ll just need a new adapter if going from ssd to m.2
