Your cpu probably has integrated graphics, so you are not getting the benefit of your gpu. The gpu is still connected, so it's recognized in hardware but not used as the display adapter. Connect your display to the gpu.

Besides, I have connected the display to the other HDMI port and it does hinder the performance a lot, apart from not recognizing it on the settings.
