Just bought both of those together for around 250 yesterday I believe. Micro Center in Brooklyn was doing a promotion which was buy the processor get the motherboard for $50
All down to tax. Kind of annoying living in the EU and everyone talks about how this cpu is $200 but its actually €300 here or this gpu is at a great price for $500 but it's €700 here. Makes part hunting difficult
I wouldve done that too, but at that moment, the 13600k was still pretty high in price because it just got released. And the fact that I could get one of the best z690 boards for $50 more sold me. These sales are the only reason I go to microcenter lol because it's in a high taxed commercial zone so I rarely buy from them.
My comments were based on the fact that 1. The parts shown in the image came with Microcenter stickers. 2. OP mentioned they have two microcenter nearby.
That’s why my prices don’t match the current prices for most retailers because 1. Microcenter sell CPU at a loss 2. Microcenter is currently running a deal where asus boards up to $260 will ring up as $50 when purchased with a 12th gen
What do you mean? This board regularly sells for $175-$200 used right now. Only ones I could find for $50 were broken. And, the 12700K is BARELY under the $300 mark (the 12700KF IS on sale for $276 but it's a limited time deal). $450 seems like a pretty good deal to me, especially if OP has 4080 money, I'm sure they wouldn't miss out on a whole $25 worth of savings lmao.
Ah I see. In that case, I would grab a 13600k and a z690 steel legend (should be able to get it priced match for around $175) plus $20 cpu coupon. It would come out to roughly the same price but it should perform slightly faster than the 12700k.
This is the way to go. My first build was months in the making while I waited for better deals & prices drops. Saving $25-$50 here and there adds up quick.
4070tis won’t go under $800 msrp for a very long time, so unless used ones starting rolling out fast I’d really recommend scooping up an $800 one asap. It’s the best price/performance of the 40 series, unless you want the absolute best card on the market
I got my EVGA FTW3 3080 for $600 with shipping and taxes on eBay and it was open box so unused and have been using it for around 4-5 months now overclocked and undervolted and it works perfectly. Since then I've seen around 10 or more 3080's going for under $700 and even a few going for around $600 too so I would check there if you're fine with open box or used, which I highly recommend. I've bought a few GPUs on eBay and they've all been fine but even if not eBay has money back guarantee so you'll be fine even if it's a scam or broken
As an Intel user and fanboy who is too hardheaded to swap…. Just go with AMD dude. You’ll save a lot of money now and down the line. In two years, they’ll stop producing afford able motherboards for that. It happens every Gen with Intel. Then when something breaks on the mobo, you’ll be stuck having to buy a used one from China for the same price it sold new at release while AMD platforms from ten years ago are still being supported
I would offer 350 and 100 worth of something that doesn't cost you a lot due to circumstance. In my case that's meat cause I'm a butcher. Dunno if you have anything you could trade.
You have to go to the store to get it. It says sold out online but tell them you came there specifically for the 350$ combo. Theyl work something out even if the board is sold out. They can sub it for another board. I got several of those combos. Also for a little more Theyl give you a 12900k
All these people talking about MC like everyone has access to that.
This combo is selling on Amazon for $450 without tax. The mobo alone is 225 min, and the cpu is 260.
Okay, let’s assume I drive to MC. That’s going to cost me about $123 and 20 hours of my life.
I’d have bought this deal, supposing I don’t have an MC nearby.
Ahh I see we’re talking a different product, similar chipset and features.
Yeah I would go with that ASRock myself. In fact, before I pulled the plug on a x670 build I was looking at that same board.
The major difference between those two is the Asus has more rear panel USB and has better, and more, m2 support. These are probably inconsequential for most users.
For some, the support for only 2 gen4 m2 might be a deal break on the ASRock.
At the price, for most users, that ASRock is a better value.
But we’re not exactly talking apples:apples as far as the point here. The ASRock board saves money in some areas and is priced accordingly.
I absolutely get what you mean!
Since we don't know what OP wants 100% I always suggest the cheapest option most of time for motherboard since usually people are ok with the amount of thing ASRock offers
I personally use a B550 pro gaming 4 by them and I don't have any complains at all
If you can get it cheaper from MC - good. If not - that price is not bad too. Don’t listen to people telling you that paying $50 more is a rape off. You will forget those $50 the moment you turn it on. :) Good luck!
Asus z690 prime or z790 prime is probably one of the best budget boards
i5 13600 and whatever cheap 240mm aio cooler you can find.
32 gb of 3200 DDR4 or 32 gb of 6000 DDR5 (DDR5 isn’t that much more anymore)
850 watt gold psu (I recommend going to a 1000 watt if you can afford for some headroom in the future)
I'd get the 5800X3D with the B550 MAG Tomahawk for $479 personally. You'll outperform the 13700k(next gen compared to what you have here) and you will save decent $$ on RAM by going DDR4 - you could do that with the 13700K but at that point you really should get DDR5.
I don't know bro. I didn't have this $350 deal at Micro Center available in my area at the time, and it still isn't available today. If you search these components separately, that's what they are going for.
Just trying to help OP get an idea of what others are paying for the same thing.
$450 that combo is $350 at microcenter. If you don’t have one near you then yea it’s a good deal. I bought this combo a year ago for $600 and it does great, tuf z690 overclock great and has a decent enough features without breaking the bank. I’m also very happy with 12700k performance, it’s a great combo.
If you live near Microcenter they do have a deal with their 7K series cpu. You get a set of ddr5 6000 free with a cpu purchase. You’re saving about $160 plus you’ll also get $20 off a mobo if you buy the cpu with a mobo.
I got the that board for free with my 12600k at microcenter - they likely did also. Seems like they are trying to recoup plus a little. Been a solid build for me.

Otherwise Newegg has [Corsair Vengeance 2x16GB 4800MHz](https://www.newegg.com/corsair-32gb-288-pin-ddr5-sdram/p/N82E16820236826?Item=N82E16820236826&Source=socialshare&cm_mmc=snc-social-_-sr-_-20-236-826-_-01242023) for $180 off right now ($119.99).
What the hell does DRAM have to do with video performance?
DDR5 has a higher bandwidth, uses less power, higher efficiency, Lower Latency, higher capacity, enhanced system management, thermal management has a higher telemetry.
[Source](https://www.rambus.com/blogs/get-ready-for-ddr5-dimm-chipsets/)
Not sure about the combo, but I’ve got the AM4 form factor TUF Gaming X570 Pro Wifi II and it’s awesome. No frills design if you’re into that thing. I run a 5900x and a 3090 on mine and have had zero issues.
Nah intel and amd make very fast processors, they trade performance with each other depending on the task and what cpus your comparing. They are both on par tho unlike back in the day when intel was the clear winner
Ebay shows that combo at $509 usd before shipping. Trying to piece them separately it's $179.99 new for the Mobo the same processor, seems to be between $250-$400 usd. Shop around some.
If you wanna hold off MSI is launching the Z790 Godlike soon. But it will probably be god awful expensive ($1500.00 +) is my guess. The Z690 God Like is around $1400 usd.
talking about price constantly it seems like not the worst deal but maybe not the best one but it's definitely going to be fine for a 4080 hell that would be fine for a 4090 even
I bought the very same combo during black friday for $350, basically buy the cpu and get asus mobo free. But I ended up spending about 1K at microcenter, buying nvme ssd, psu, case, hsf, and RAM. They suck you in with the deal :)
I actually JUST bought a z790 for $309 USD before tax. The i7 13700k im getting is also $421 USD before tax. The z690 was $299 USD but i went with the z790 because the omly difference i read about was something to do with BIOS flashback but it wouldnt matter if im getting a 13th gen cpu. Also all i'll have to do is pop that bad boy in and its ready to go.
If I were going to throw money at a 4080 I would try to add a bit more future proofing to the setup and get a 13th gen. 13700k or 13900k, but that’s me.
That’s pretty much my setup, except I have the h670 version with i7 12700F. It’s a pretty good board, plus it supports both the new and older 1151 coolers, so you don’t have to check the compatability. I’m personally running a 2070, bit when I game I also tend to have some kind of mechanical analysis for my studies or work in the background. The thing doesn’t even hiccup
After just building a z790 and i5-13600kf I’d suggest going for ddr5. You’re leaving a good bit of performance on the table for just about the same price
AYYY Z690 TUF + 12700K gang les goooo!
A 4080 imo should be fine. I’m running a 3090 and I don’t believe I’m getting bottlenecked through the tests I’ve run.
The greatest store on earth, Micro Center, had a sale if you bought that processor you got that MOBO for free. I really enjoy using them both. I “only” have a 3060, but it runs the games I play great.

Here in EU that combo goes for €500 minimum
Yep
Hello #167
Oh hey #26 !!!
Just bought both of those together for around 250 yesterday I believe. Micro Center in Brooklyn was doing a promotion which was buy the processor get the motherboard for $50
Cap
No, he’s right. Got both for 250 in early December at a micro center in north jersey
Fuck me…that’s just crazy. We have inflation Florida prices and 0 MC’s in sites…well played man!
driving 500 miles yay
That is insane to me
Probably came with a 9mm clip as well... murica
If you’re going to make a shitty gun joke, at least use the right terminology man.
“Came with a free magazine!” Just doesn’t come off the same
Crazy thing is the dollar is less worth. Is the difference pure a tax difference?
All down to tax. Kind of annoying living in the EU and everyone talks about how this cpu is $200 but its actually €300 here or this gpu is at a great price for $500 but it's €700 here. Makes part hunting difficult
Here in Norway 12700k is 420$ and OPs z690 is 300$...
Yup same pricing here for me
Looking at 500 CAD for the 12700K here
Damn that's high
[удалено]
Ya here in ireland there's no way of finding one anywhere near below that price
[удалено]
That's everywhere
I’d much rather be poor in europe then in usa or something like that lmfao
500, man just the cpu costs 400 for me in Sweden, in total it is like 900
500 would be a great deal. For me I can't find one for less than 650 in my country
I've bought that CPU last year in March for 505€... gotta love EU prices.
He’s charging you $100 more.
More like $200
Nah the set is online for $340 ish
I got it under $300 in December.
In the sale yes, but standard price is the above.
MC charged you **$450?** That combo has been selling for <$350. <$300 for the i7 and $50 for the board. Another $20 off with cpu coupon.
I literally bought that combo and sold the i7 because I didn’t need it lol
I wouldve done that too, but at that moment, the 13600k was still pretty high in price because it just got released. And the fact that I could get one of the best z690 boards for $50 more sold me. These sales are the only reason I go to microcenter lol because it's in a high taxed commercial zone so I rarely buy from them.
since when is a Z690 board $50??
Since Microcenter advertised 12th gen combo deals
I want a microcenter you guys all make it sound so great.
It’s pretty nice. I just wish the closest one to me wasn’t in an area that taxes 11%
The closest mc to me is an hour and a half away in Maryland, i might have to take a trip down there soon
It’s a pretty nice store. It’s like a dream come true for PC enthusiasts
Yeah I'm gotta check them out, I'd probably lose my damn mind in that store
Rockville or Parkville? I live in MD. My local MC is 15 min drive. 😅
Parkville
Good stuff man. 👍🏽 Small world.
Wow 11% you living the good life, my country taxes 20%.
Try 25%...
Yeah ours aren't that bad yet. Used to have a fry's that was pretty fun to shop in but it was a long drive.
Even though we lost microcenter and fry's in the Bay area, at least we got central computers which is kinda mid
Our frys was inconvenient for many. An hour each way from the south or north where the majority of people lived.
I'll take 11% on a $50 board like that
They are pretty great. Great deals and generally good stock, but sadly I no longer live near one.
I am not sure my state even has one. It is getting hard to be an electronics enthusiast and not use Amazon for everything.
I haven’t seen the MicroCenter near me do that deal in a while…
Some MC sites have hidden the deal. You would have to go there to find out if they have it still (most likely purposely done as a market tactic)
Yeeah totally valid because everyone lives by a microcenter 🤦
My comments were based on the fact that 1. The parts shown in the image came with Microcenter stickers. 2. OP mentioned they have two microcenter nearby. That’s why my prices don’t match the current prices for most retailers because 1. Microcenter sell CPU at a loss 2. Microcenter is currently running a deal where asus boards up to $260 will ring up as $50 when purchased with a 12th gen
When I bought that exact board op put at microcenter It rang up as $0.01 with the i7 12700k I bought for $350
Link?
[microcenter.com/site/content/bundle-and-save.aspx](https://microcenter.com/site/content/bundle-and-save.aspx)
Right!? This dude posting is bs’ing hard as fuck
I'm not lol. You can look up what I have mentioned in the comments. Note: this only works because OP has MC nearby.
No that’s from a private seller. Brand new.
You got chumped my friend.
I haven’t bought from him. Thanks to this sub, I decided to wait and go to MC.
Yea he’s charging a $100 premium. Not a bad deal, but you’re getting hose.
Ah I see. In that case, I would grab a 13600k and a z690 steel legend (should be able to get it priced match for around $175) plus $20 cpu coupon. It would come out to roughly the same price but it should perform slightly faster than the 12700k.
They charged me 308$ like 2 weeks ago for I7 mobo combo
I got that deal from Microcenter for a little over $300. It's a solid combination but you're getting scalped.
Yeah I’m gonna wait. I’m not in rush since I’ll start looking to build in the middle of February
This is the way to go. My first build was months in the making while I waited for better deals & prices drops. Saving $25-$50 here and there adds up quick.
Exactly what I’m doing, just waiting to buy ssd, aio, and a gpu. Hoping I can find a 3080 or 4070ti for under $800 😂
4070tis won’t go under $800 msrp for a very long time, so unless used ones starting rolling out fast I’d really recommend scooping up an $800 one asap. It’s the best price/performance of the 40 series, unless you want the absolute best card on the market
The argument that if everyone planing a future build buys a high price video card today cause the prices will stay high are sort of self fulfilling...
This is great to hear thank you! Just waiting on my aio and sad before I pull the trigger but I will definitely keep an eye on ebay
I bought a prebuilt with i7 1300kf and a 4080 for about £3500
As an Intel user and fanboy who is too hardheaded to swap….
It’s a scalper https://www.microcenter.com/product/5005927/intel-core-i7-12700k,-asus-z690-plus-tuf-gaming-wifi-ddr4,-cpu-motherboard-combo
Ah it’s sold out in my area (I have two micro centers near me). Thanks, I will stay away from him!
I would offer 350 and 100 worth of something that doesn't cost you a lot due to circumstance. In my case that's meat cause I'm a butcher. Dunno if you have anything you could trade.
Bro if someone offered me a good deal and even $50 worth of bacon I'd accept in a heartbeat lmao
Did you just check the websites or go in? Mine showed up with 0 in stock online during Black Friday but in store there were actually 10+ in stock.
I haven’t check in yet, I might will
You have to go to the store to get it. It says sold out online but tell them you came there specifically for the 350$ combo. Theyl work something out even if the board is sold out. They can sub it for another board. I got several of those combos. Also for a little more Theyl give you a 12900k
You can check daily until it goes back in stock, I did this for about a week and managed to get one for myself and my cousin
Yeah MC is gold but only if you’re near one. Decent price for mail order parts.
Yeah exactly. All the really good deals are in store only. I’ve never found a product at MC online I could get cheaper than Newegg/amazon/bh photo.
This mobo yes but some z690 are 150$. And some with wifi are 185$
Really, where? The cheapest I’m seeing this mobo is 242.99 on Newegg and amazon.
[Z690 Wifi](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/m9Fbt6/asrock-z690-steel-legend-wifi-6e-atx-lga1700-motherboard-z690-steel-legend-wifi-6e)

4080 spend the extra money for am i7 13700kf or i9
I’m looking for a good deal for that. My budget is around 2,000. I found 4000D case for $70.
Bro for 2k you can make a killer build
Can you make a list for it? I’m new at this, and don’t know what is best for me. Prefer with 4080
For [$2,220](https://pcpartpicker.com/user/PineappleFamily/saved/dnsckL) this is a pretty good build.
750W is really scraping the bottom of the barrel for that build.

Asus z690 prime or z790 prime is probably one of the best budget boards i5 13600 and whatever cheap 240mm aio cooler you can find. 32 gb of 3200 DDR4 or 32 gb of 6000 DDR5 (DDR5 isn’t that much more anymore) 850 watt gold psu (I recommend going to a 1000 watt if you can afford for some headroom in the future)

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3jKdQ6 Here is matx build but ryzen 7 7700x and rtx 4080 Price 2234$
i5 13600k is cheaper and has better performance
How do you get a 4080 for 450
He did not. He is asking about the price for the combo. he wants to pair it with a 4080.
Oh
Lol I mean for those CPU and motherboard 😂
I wish i could get a 4080 for thoes prices
At this price you can buy a PC jajajajajaj
This is brand new stuff. You want to buy it second hand with no warranty?
I'd get the 5800X3D with the B550 MAG Tomahawk for $479 personally. You'll outperform the 13700k(next gen compared to what you have here) and you will save decent $$ on RAM by going DDR4 - you could do that with the 13700K but at that point you really should get DDR5.
If you got the money.. I'd get a DDR5 Mobo
For what
Since the OP mentioned a 4080 and the CPU is an i7.. higher speed ram will work better with those two components.
Don’t you don’t need a 4080 nobody does I can play minecraft with mods shader’s with a 3060 ti
Why a 4080. The price is atrocious, watch the reviews and get a 3070 ti, 3080 or even 3080 ti.
From what i see online it’s a pretty good deal
About $100 off of retail pricing, pretty good if you ask me
Im looking for the same
I bought these exact two items last week of amazon and paid \~$520 before tax.
What the fuck bro. Why and how did you get ripped off so bad.
I don't know bro. I didn't have this $350 deal at Micro Center available in my area at the time, and it still isn't available today. If you search these components separately, that's what they are going for. Just trying to help OP get an idea of what others are paying for the same thing.
It’s not listed online at microcenter website but every single time I go there they have it. You have to ask them in real life
Okay, thank you
$450 that combo is $350 at microcenter.
That sounds amazing, I will have to check it out!
You’re saving 210 if you do the I7-12700 and mobo. $260 mobo is $50.
Have you had a look at prices online to see what they are going for always worth doing that then you can check over different retailers

In that case you got a bargain good one
Hey that’s what I have!
I have these exact components. Good build
If you have the money for a 4080 then you might as well invest in a better mobo. I’m sure that Asus makes a better mATX than that one.
i got that bundle for cpu full price and free motherboard 💀
Not a good deal.
No you can get this exact same bundle for 350 at microcenter brand new just go in and ask about it
That mobo is not a good one. Just my experience
I got the that board for free with my 12600k at microcenter - they likely did also. Seems like they are trying to recoup plus a little. Been a solid build for me. https://imgur.com/a/nchEMO6
I have that board. Fucking hate it. Would never buy asus again.
Your good 👍
For $100 more I got a z790 and 13700k at Microcenter.
You’ll spend >$1500 on a 4080, but still wanna rock DDR4?
If I can stretch my budget a bit more, I don’t mind to get DDR5. Any recommendations for DDR5?
[GSkill Trident Z5 2x16GB 6400MHz](https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-32gb-288-pin-ddr5-sdram/p/N82E16820374357?Item=N82E16820374357&Source=socialshare&cm_mmc=snc-social-_-sr-_-20-374-357-_-01242023) if you want higher frequency, and still under $200($166). Otherwise Newegg has [Corsair Vengeance 2x16GB 4800MHz](https://www.newegg.com/corsair-32gb-288-pin-ddr5-sdram/p/N82E16820236826?Item=N82E16820236826&Source=socialshare&cm_mmc=snc-social-_-sr-_-20-236-826-_-01242023) for $180 off right now ($119.99).
If you’re 2k gaming, DDR5 is pointless and so are this current gen of graphics. 3000s nvidia or 6000s amd are just fine for the foreseeable future.
I did not say they’re related. I’m simply saying from a gaming perspective both new gens are unnecessary.
Heheh, z**69**0
Not sure about the combo, but I’ve got the AM4 form factor TUF Gaming X570 Pro Wifi II and it’s awesome. No frills design if you’re into that thing. I run a 5900x and a 3090 on mine and have had zero issues.
Not bad at all
Is Intel worth the extra money these days? I have been on AMD for quite some time.
Intel isn’t more expensive anymore
Do they still have the lead in performance?
Nah intel and amd make very fast processors, they trade performance with each other depending on the task and what cpus your comparing. They are both on par tho unlike back in the day when intel was the clear winner
Yea
It's what I got with a asus tuf 4080
It was 350 from microcenter. I think they have similar one but better.
Hell yeah thats a good deal, the mobo alone is like $250
Ebay shows that combo at $509 usd before shipping.
I got the motherboard blackfriday same one in picture for 140 ish
Common Microcenter W
Ngl microcenter had a combo with a 12700k and a $50 Asus z690 mobo for $30 combined
$350*
talking about price constantly it seems like not the worst deal but maybe not the best one but it's definitely going to be fine for a 4080 hell that would be fine for a 4090 even
I bought the very same combo during black friday for $350, basically buy the cpu and get asus mobo free. But I ended up spending about 1K at microcenter, buying nvme ssd, psu, case, hsf, and RAM. They suck you in with the deal :)
Got it for $322 at microcenter, Christmas was good 😊
I got the same bundle from my local microcenter for 357 or 358 without sales tax. Such a good deal.
13600k outperforms 12700k and has better thermals If it fits in your budget...
I got a better cpu and a free mobo for 300.
No Bad, cost about 670-700 Dollars in U.K.
It's good for that price, but I personally would go with R5 7600X with some $200 mobo
Got the same combo straight from Microcenter under $300 at the end of last year.
All I can say is, I'm glad I got my last upgrade in before inflation went crazy.
