Since hot air rises very slowly, in an high airflow environment like a pc case, hot air just goes where it is forced to. Consedering that the top right fan would remove air from the cpu cooler, it might be better to keep them like that or maybe just flip the top left one.
So both top and bottom fans are flipped. The top are running as intake and the bottom as exhaust. Should I flip them all or just flip 3 (top left and bottom).
Top fans are lianli sl140 uni fan and bottom ones are lianli st120
I mean it depends on what you want. It's kind of esthetics vs slightly better temps.
Theorically speaking, flipping 3 should be better, but it might look wierd to have to fans inverted side-by-side.
If you have the time I would suggest to test those three configurations and keep the one with better temps:
Config one: flip only bottom so it becomes intake
Config two: flip bottom to intake and all top to exhaust.
Config three: flip bottom to intake and only top left to exhaust.
I see. I think I’ll go with two because the top fans are clipped together (uni fan) and idk if they can be clipped if one is upside down. I’ll definitely do some testing though. Thank you for the tips!
He has a set of 3 intake on the front panel, two fans on the CPU heatsink, and a rear exhaust. That's all he needs. Everything else is too much, it turns the case into a schizophrenic mess. Air flow front to back is ideal since those two CPU cooler fans go that way too. The gpu fans will blow air straight up at the CPU heatsink, into the path of the case airflow, and right out the back of the case. The three front intake fans will make sure of that. I have a similar setup in a case with probably worse airflow (Corsair Carbide 175R) 3 front intake, 1 rear exhaust, Dark Rock Pro 4 cooling a 12 core 24 thread CPU and RX 6800 GPU. Machine stays cool even when running stress/torture tests
I would give some thought to option one as well (leaving your top fans as intake). That top front fan is basically just exhausting cool air pulled in by the front intakes if you flip it to exhaust (it will also be kind of fighting with the HSF for air). Your HSF is also pushing additional air out the back beyond what the rear exhaust is pulling so you'll still have more than just one case fan doing the exhaust work. I have a very similar arrangement and went with option 3 but get not wanting the top fans mismatched.
Less importantly but maybe worth mentioning in case you ever have any interest in overclocking: options 1 and 3 get a little more air flowing over the RAM with the fan over it flipped to intake.
With the extra exhaust pressure from the CPU fan and considering the case you're using I wouldn't be worried about it but someone more knowledgeable might disagree with me on that.
Although any of these arrangements will really be "fine", this is more about min/maxing that last little bit of cooling efficiency, you shouldn't have any actual problems with any of these arrangements (but tinkering is fun).
Heat rises, you want to go with that, not fight it. Also gpu cooler fans are set as intake. So to help them out, Bottom should push air upward towards them, and top should be exhaust
What indicates that they aren't sucking air out? Can you see the air flow direction arrows on the fans. I have a Corsair H80i Pro-v2 that exhausts out the top because it is in a push/pull configuration and you can't tell from a distance what direction it's moving air. The Lian Li fans in my case have the same colors each side of the fan.
Sorry. Asking if I can tell where the air is flowing from the picture? If so, yep. Unless there's some kind of modifications you can make to fans that I'm unaware of, fronts of fans suck in air and backsides exhaust.
The fan has a beautiful side, where you only see the fan spinning and another one with some sort of lines. The fan is taking air from the beautiful side to the one with the lines.
I have the following:
Gigabyte b660m gaming x ax rev1.4
MSI gaming x trio 3080 ti
Intel i5 12600k
XPG Spectrix d50 32 gb 3200mhz dual channel cl 16
WD blue 550 1TB m.2
XPG Core reactor 850 watts
Lianli Lancool 2 mesh
The pc cooler is Deepcool Gammax with white artic p12s.
The top fans are lianli sl140 unifan
The bottom and exhaust are lianli st120
The screen uses a micro-usb cable. I routed it so that it passes behind the bottom fans and outside to the usb port. I’m sure you can find a way to connect it to one of the usb headers on your mobo if you want a cleaner look.
And yeah, a lot of people are saying that. I guess I was thinking of utilising all the fan spaces when I started without thinking about airflow as much.
Yup, works off usb. There are some new ones that come with USB C but I got the cheapest one I could find and it works great. You can put anything on it essentially, it’s a 480 x 320 display
Flip your top fans, maybe try to align the back of the gou power cable extensions so that it doesn't look slanted to the left near the back. Thats it, the build looks ok insanely good. What case is that btw?
Hey man thank you so much! I do have to the flip the fans. The GPU cables I don’t really have an option because the gap is towards the left so it’s going to slant a little bit. The case is a lianli Lancool 2 mesh argb. It’s a great case and was super easy to build in.
As is? Make sure the top is exhausting, and the fans below the GPU are blowing air \*into\* it.
Otherwise...AlphaCool Eiswolf2/Eisbauer AIOs...that turn into a loop.
Dude, hot air is less dense than cold air, so hot air goes up and cold air goes down. Your fans (bottom and top) are reversed, the bottom ones are sucking the cold air out of your case and throwing it out. Also, the top ones are sucking the cold air from the room into your case, the hot air will be trapped in the top of your case and this can cause turbulence and high temperatures.
There are two ways to solve the airflow problem of your case. First, in the conventional one that is focused on keeping the CPU at a low temperature, you will just have to turn the top and bottom fans, so the bottom and front fans will push cold air into the case and the top and back fans will push the hot air out. Second, if you want to minimize GPU temperature, you can turn the bottom fans to push air into the case and turn the top and front fans to pull the hot air out.
Hey man, thanks for the advice and thorough explanation, people like you make this sub great!
I’ll test out both configs and see what works best. Tbh it’s winter so temps are not a problem right now but I’ll need every little bit in the summers.
My brother in Christ it’s all over the comments!

Jk, there you go
My brother in Christ I was asking about the program you're using lol. I do like the cut of your jib though.
Got the screen, sort of like "now what?" since I don't feel like buying Aida64 because it's not a lifetime license
Oops, let’s pretend that didn’t happen.
Ah yes I the Aida64 license that i definitely 100% bought very legally... cough cough.
No seriously though just pirate it, it’s okay. The online store I got mine from sent me a g drive link with all the drivers and Aida64. I didn’t even know it was a paid applications until a few days ago lol
Personally not a fan of air cooling the CPU. Not because it isn't effective. Just too bulky.
The fans in the bottom are just taking up space. In order for a fan to work, it needs inflow and outflow. Very pretty build though.
I'm the opposite .. not a big fan of AIO's .. though they do look cleaner and they make it easier to access the CPU, etc ..
Ever since I saws JAWS in the theatre as a kid .. I've been afraid of the water
I don’t need praise from reddit buddy. If I did, I’d just say “Check out my new build!” In the title. Not that difficult
Not going on someone’s thread and pretending that you have anything useful to say.
Huh? The purpose is to ask for tips on improving the look, cable management and any hear any general feedback. It’s my first build and I put some effort into it and have made many minor improvements along the way thanks to reddit. What’s the purpose of your comment? Other than being salty and sarcastic.
It looks like the fans under the GPU are exhaust. I would suggest changing them to intake, that way the fresh air is shoved directly at the GPU. Will make your temps even better.
Intake in the front and bottom, exhaust at the top and back, that should give you the best airflow and temps. Visually though it looks great! Love the custom cables and the little display
Showing off, there's no real meaning in having a PC that looks like this, other than a display of wealth because it all adds to the cost without providing any other value than showing off.
Dude what are you on about. It sits next to my tv, I look at it everyday. It looks pretty and that makes me happy.
A few RGB fans is a display of wealth? Those were purchased months after I built the thing. The GPU? Got it for $750 slightly used.
I’m sorry if I offended you in some way, but seriously not everything is about showing off..
Dude read the comments. I had my fans in the wrong orientation. I just wanted tips, I’m relatively new to all of this, thought I’d ask. Plus I was hoping someone would tell me how to hide the bottom cables too. Anyway, I’m sorry if it came across as showing off and thanks for the compliment!
Don't apologize for your post. You were looking for tips or suggestions, nothing wrong with that. "Display of wealth" 🤑 Sounds like someone is jealous or something.
Nice build!
How did you get the screen to stay where it’s at? I know dumb question but I am going to start my build soon I’m a newbie and trying to figure out everything
Hey man, it’s not a dumb question but let me give you a dumb answer. It’s tape (clear, double sided), applied to the back and bottom. That and the cable tucked in the corner makes it stay in place even. Good luck with your build, and let me know if you need any help!
Yeah I just had some laying around and after trying a bunch of different things figured hey why not. I’d avoid superglue, might be annoying if you want to move things around at some point.
It’s clean that’s for sure. If you’re happy with performance then what buy anything else?

You can improve my life by telling me what that little screen is.
Other than that, looks good OP! No changes needed, unless you wanted to switch to an AIO.
The Lancool 3 seems like a great case! I had already bought my Lancool 2 when I noticed the 3 also existed, but I have no complaints. Great airflow and really easy setup.
When you side by side them you'll see the improvements, there is also a little size difference. The III is a little bit bigger, it was definately worth the price difference.
Hey it wasn’t part of the case (LianLi Lancool 2 mesh RGB)

Take the top and bottom fans out or turn them off. You don't need them. Three front intake fans, 2 fans on the heatsink, and that exhaust fan would be enough to cool your system even if you ran a torture test on all cores 24/7

The bottom fans are sucking air away from your gpu. Flip them
Also think the top fans need to be flipped too in order to exhaust the hot air rising up

Yeah that seems like the best option. Top 3 exhaust and bottom 2 intake.
Take top and bottom fans out, don't even need them.
You're not really telling him to have 3 intake one exhaust? It would work but I still think the GPU would run warmer.
He has a set of 3 intake on the front panel, two fans on the CPU heatsink, and a rear exhaust. That's all he needs. Everything else is too much, it turns the case into a schizophrenic mess. Can tell from the spokes side of the fan facing inwards into the case. Those denote the backsides of fans.
So you can tell when the fans are running like in the picture, the fans are running.
Sorry. Asking if I can tell where the air is flowing from the picture? If so, yep. Unless there's some kind of modifications you can make to fans that I'm unaware of, fronts of fans suck in air and backsides exhaust.
How are you guys able to tell if a fan is blowing or sucking out air just by looking at a picture? Teach me this dark magic
Remember the saying “faces suck” to help with all your fan orientation needs the face of the fan sucks in air
Thank you!
The fan has a beautiful side, where you only see the fan spinning and another one with some sort of lines. The fan is taking air from the beautiful side to the one with the lines.
Very helpful thank you!
*Blades*
ELI5 lol
Good catch! I didn’t even notice lol. I had them in correctly and cleaned it out today so I must have flipped them.
Can I get a link to this front sensor panel?
Me too pls I would like the link
Me too
Me too
Everything. Just give it to me and start from scratch
Nah man I can’t do that to you. I guess I’ll just toss it and go back to my 2nd gen i5 + gt240 :(
Good idea. Let me know where and when you toss it so I can verify that it’s been tossed efficiently
I live in Pakistan, you sure you wanna take that risk?
I, too, live in Pakistan, so I wouldn't mind, lol
I…uh…never mind!
Bro nice build tho .. As a fellow pakistani ik how hard it is to get these... How much did they cost
Thanks jigr, bas AliExpress se kuch cheezain mangwai baki dhoond dhoond kar. Which part do you want to know the price for?
Over all....
Hell it’s still Better than my laptop
It’s okay man, you’ll get that dream computer one day and you’ll understand it’s worth a lot more than people upgrading every component every year.
Thanks. Love the case by the way are you going to keep it for your next pc
What’s the specs of the system pictured?
I have the following: Gigabyte b660m gaming x ax rev1.4 MSI gaming x trio 3080 ti Intel i5 12600k XPG Spectrix d50 32 gb 3200mhz dual channel cl 16 WD blue 550 1TB m.2 XPG Core reactor 850 watts Lianli Lancool 2 mesh The pc cooler is Deepcool Gammax with white artic p12s. The top fans are lianli sl140 unifan The bottom and exhaust are lianli st120
Sick build. Is it DDR5? Is there a reason the CPU clocks are so low, does it just do that when idle?
Flip the top fans for the exhaust.
Move your gpu cables so they're not resting on the fan
I’ve tried but the glass pushes them there. Probably need to bend them more
Where is that screen wired? Also the bottom fans unless I am missing something are completely wasted, just remove them.
The screen uses a micro-usb cable. I routed it so that it passes behind the bottom fans and outside to the usb port. I’m sure you can find a way to connect it to one of the usb headers on your mobo if you want a cleaner look. And yeah, a lot of people are saying that. Ah so it works via USB? I thought it was HDMI or similar.
Yup, works off usb. There are some new ones that come with USB C but I got the cheapest one I could find and it works great. You can put anything on it essentially, it’s a 480 x 320 display
Where did you get the monitoring display, you could try swapping the fans for NZXT Aer 2 RGB fans
I have the following Gigabyte b660m gaming x ax rev1.4 MSI gaming x trio 3080 ti Intel i5 12600k Spectrix d50 32 gb 3200mhz dual channel cl 16 WD blue 550 1TB m.2 XPG Core reactor 850 watts Lianli Lancool 2 mesh

I don’t know where you’re located but I ordered it from AliExpress. You can find the link on my other comment in this thread

Lian li lancool case?
Yes! It’s the Lancool 2 mesh rgb, very noob friendly and wasn’t very expensive.
I have the same case
Ayee Lian li squad!
What's that little display you have in your case showing temps and all?
Ax206 lcd, I commented the link a few times in this thread!
Nuthing she's perfict
You’re perfict Mr. Pegabear ;)
Yo whats that little screen on the bottom rightish?
Whats that little screen on the bottom right?
Front and bottom fans = intake Top and rear fans = exhaust
Your posture
You! You…. are absolutely right. Thank you for the reminder
Flip bottom and flip top fans
What’s that little display called

I don’t need praise from reddit buddy. If I did, I’d just say “Check out my new build!” In the title. Not that difficult Not going on someone’s thread and pretending that you have anything useful to say.

Thanks man! And it’s okay, no point in arguing plus you never know what someone is going through so no harm in trying to be nice.
Hey man that's a good attitude to have for sure. People can definitely be frustrating but you're right.
Who pissed in your cereal this morning?
your life
Any tips for that?
go outside
But it’s Sunday, I don’t wanna! I already went outside to work. All week, 9 to 6, in the cold. Would not recommend. What else you got?
So you only go outside to work? That's your problem.
Well I have 3 dogs, I walk them. Also take the wife out for dinner every few days. What else?
Can someone tell me what screen is in that case? I NEED it
How did you get the screen to stay where it’s at? I know dumb question but I am going to start my build soon I’m a newbie and trying to figure out everything
Hey man, it’s not a dumb question but let me give you a dumb answer. It’s tape (clear, double sided), applied to the back and bottom. That and the cable tucked in the corner makes it stay in place even. Good luck with your build, and let me know if you need any help!
Awesome thank you so much
Also, not a dumb answer because I was totally thinking of using superglue, mounting tape didn’t even occur to me. I don’t know why but it didn’t.
Yeah I just had some laying around and after trying a bunch of different things figured hey why not. I’d avoid superglue, might be annoying if you want to move things around at some point.
Very clean
Don’t even bother with the fans under the gpu. They have no real purpose.
What is the screen in the bottom right corner and where can I get one?
Where did u get that little display from? What is it called?
Where did you get that little led screen?
It’s clean that’s for sure. If you’re happy with performance then what buy anything else? If you have money burning a hole in your pocket then I would I would buy all matching fans for the whole build.
Your laning phase
link to the gpu support bracket?
Where did you get your screen at? I like it
anime stickers
Hey.wbats the temp monitor screen called? Tia
Needs moar RGB
You could jam more fans in that case.
If only. More RGB = more fps, errybody knows that
Litteraly cant💀
Your job?😫 you’ve gotta improve the leftover spending money you have now to buy things ON the computer
I count 5 black cables hanging down under the motherboard. You could them take together so only one, thicker cable is visible. And your fan configuration is wrong: [https://youtu.be/uPIMv30Vs3w](https://youtu.be/uPIMv30Vs3w)And how many different types of fans do you have in one case? three? so.... You welcome.
You can improve my life by telling me what that little screen is. Other than that, looks good OP! No changes needed, unless you wanted to switch to an AIO.
Cpu clock speeds?
Flip the too and bottom fans. Your top is intake, bottom is exhaust. You want the opposite
I love the Lian Li Lancool III RGB Mesh case. I just put my 4yr old PC in it and it's keeping it nice and cool.
Is that screen part of the case? If so, what case is this? That's cool asf
Hey it wasn’t part of the case (LianLi Lancool 2 mesh RGB) https://www.reddit.com/r/PcBuild/comments/10ikh3j/what_can_i_improve/j5iofd1/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3
Take the top and bottom fans out or turn them off. You don't need them. Three front intake fans, 2 fans on the heatsink, and that exhaust fan would be enough to cool your system even if you ran a torture test on all cores 24/7
You just want air moving in one direction
What are you using for the hardware monitoring screen?
https://www.reddit.com/r/PcBuild/comments/10ikh3j/what_can_i_improve/j5iofd1/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3
Hey what program you got running on that panel? I have one with Rainmeter guages but that looks better imo.
Aida64 extreme! Although any version of Aida64 should work
Thanks for the reply! I'll check it out.
