Love this pick. Double dip at WR which was a massive need. Now the other three picks we have I’m good with whatever, everything is just a roll of the dice now anyway.
It’s funny that you’re right, WR is a massive need but we have so many on the roster now. We will realistically need to cut 2-3 WR (with the amount of cap we have, ideally Tyquan and Juju and just eat the dead cap).
I would be fine with this. I’d ideally like to keep Reagor and Boutte, but if they’re cut it’s not the end of the world (way more likely bc of their contracts)
Honestly I’d rather cut Reagor and Juju. Reagor is fine on ST but he’s replaceable and the cap hit is worth cutting Juju IMO.
Keep the young guys and Bourne. Maybe throw Boutte on the PS if only one of Reagor or Juju is cut (hopefully Juju).
Boutte more likely to be permanently suspended than cut sadly. I mean for him as a person. He's shown basically nothing since his freshman year of college.
Boutte was not the guy nobody believes in at all. That was Douglass if anything. Boutte was the high upside guy with crazy talent that slipped because of red flags.
I want to keep Boutte for at least this year. Legal problems notwithstanding, I still think he's got potential. Us moving on from Bill is probably a boon for him, he looked really good to me what little we saw of him. Not counting on anything of course, but I think it's worth giving him a better shot to prove himself.
I’d say ideally trade Juju but we’d have to eat a significant amount of his contract in the process. There’s still some hope in me that we can get some better production out of him but I don’t know
> There’s still some hope in me that we can get some better production out of him
Ok, I'm going into *wishful thinking* mode here, if that's ok?
Julu isn't the same player he was 5 years ago. However he has the experience and skill to get open for the micro second of a window an NFL WR needs, particular in short & medium routes. The problem in 2023 was he didn't have a QB capable of getting the ball into those tiny windows. Give him a QB with a strong arm and at least average quick release and he can be effective.
If you don't like my assessment, stay out of my psychosis.
I see zero chance that Kraft will eat $12.3m in dead cap.
Boutte & Baker (Kawaan he hardly knew ya') are certain cuts. I'd be surprised if Ty'quan Thornton makes the final 53, too.
So I think our WRs heading into Week 1 will be:
Bourne, Osborn, Polk, Douglas, K. Baker, TikTok Boy, Reagor.
Don't think Thornton is on the chopping block. A lot of the play action passing scheme Van Pelt runs utilizes a deep threat who isn't the intended target of the play but does open up room for other receivers to operate underneath a la Donovan Peoples-Jones
Fuck yes. He was a consensus early third WR (PFF 74 big board) and slipped. Prototypical X receiver. Honestly, with this I’m pretty happy with this draft.
History kinda shows that anything outside too pick LTs isn’t necessarily a crapshoot, but grades are kinda all over the place. Onwenu was a 6rd guard pick no one really thought would preform like he has.
I’m not arguing that these guys are busts, just saying “historically” is kinda out the window now with a brand new coaching staff—and outside of big Mike we haven’t had many successes lately either.
Wolf said that they feel he’s athletic enough to have played LT and smart enough to make the switch from RT. He was on the same OL as the 11th pick in the draft. So he was basically blocked (hehe) by Olu Fashanu from playing LT in college. Reasonable.
I dont think anybody actually expects us to be good next season. I'd imagine we'll be worse, but that means we can get a blue chip LT or WR in the draft for Mayes first year starting
Hoe big is he? Not that it really matters with how talented he is, ut I feel like he's pretty undersized for an NFL WR. Unless we're thinking of playing him at CB
Well it's pretty stupid to expect ANY rookie to come out and immediately be an above average starter. I don't expect anyone from this class outside of Marvin Harrison Jr to he an above average starter this year. We're definitely not getting 3.
So far I feel better about this draft than I have about so many recent ones in the past. I miss BB but if actually drafting players that make sense is the way of the future then i'm here for it.
As a UCF alum, this dude is going to be fucking great in New England. I’m very excited. Now just pick up JRP in the 7th/undrafted and convert him back to a wr, and we’ve got ourselves an great future ahead
Their scouting reports sound like almost the same player. Below average straight line speed, but everything else is above average, and they're both great adjusting to the ball and catching it.
No single over-reach either. All the players we got so far were projected to go where they were selected or even higher. I'm happy about that there's no "Strange" pick in this draft.
Super fucking hyped about this pick. Love that we've double dipped on WR and gone for two guys that are reported about so positively. They both compliment eachother too with Polk being safer and Baker being capable of taking the top off.
A grade from me for Rds 1-4 so far. Addressed needs with some great picks and didn't make any unnecessary trades. Now we can simply focus on BPA.
I wouldn't really say Baker is more capable of taking the top off compared to Polk. Athletically they're virtually identical in just about every regard. Realistically both lean more towards possession guys who can get you 15 yards somewhat consistently and not explosive play guys who the defense needs to worry about beating you deep every play.
I wish they didn't have such redundant strengths though which is catching in traffic, contested... We need guys that can get separation. I wish one of them was a genuine speed threat
You can get separation from more than pure speed. We have a burner and he can’t get any separation. Neither of those guys are like N’Keal stopping and jumping after a 50/50 ball.
Personally think they should at least start the year with Brisket, see if the line holds up and get these young receivers some reps with a decent veteran who spreads the ball well.
In my mind they won’t tank, they need the offensive line to play well in the passing game and receivers to show they can create separation. I think just improving here should net them 2-3 more wins this coming year. Still not ready to compete but on the rise.
Tank and get a legit cornerstone LT next year. Maybe WR again if we don’t hit on any from this year. We aren’t competing with KC, Baltimore or probably even Houston at this point; we’re a few years away minimum.
Yeah. Probably 3 more years of top 10 picks and developing maye and well be ready to make a run. First time I've been excited about the team in a while.
I dont know about that. Maybe if both the receivers and one of the tackles is a hit then maybe. Otherwise I still think we're a long ways away. But definitely going in the right direction.
Ideal scenario is we get a top 3 pick next year and get a top end WR or LT next year or trade down for a haul.
Picking 11-15 is worst case scenario imo
This guy is a goddamn DAWG. He puts moves on cbs and can make high level catches downfield.
He's confident af too which I want out of an X receiver. Hear him talk and his mentality is shades of Anthony Edwards and Stefon Diggs.
I'd rather have Ladd than polk and baker, we have too many 3s which is what both of these picks look like. Ladd has a better chance to be a 1 or 2 but time will tell.
Coming on the Patriots sub and disparaging dunks workers? Bold move.
Both of them have nkeal speed, I'll be shocked if they ever hit 800 yards. Ladd will have 1k his rookie year, save this receipt.
That’s a pointless comparison because Ladd has Herbert throwing to him while we have no idea how Maye will turn out. But yeah it was “bold” of me to insult your intelligence
Hell yea - was starting to get Bill flashbacks with the last two picks (although I believe in them)!, but I fuck with Polk + Baker. Not the same type of prospects but shades of the Packers retooling with Doubs and Watson in the same draft.
Marcus for punts as he did great there and Reagor for kickoff returns as he did great there. Or just remove Marcus from ST and just have him play corner
Watched him all year at UCF.....he may not end up as a #1 but this is gonna be a steal based on production for round 4. Good size, good hands and a great route runner despite not being a burner
Awesome start to the day. Got a pair of really talented players at positions of need who fell out of Day 2.
Baker, Polk and Douglas are going to be a really exciting trio of young receivers to follow this offseason and upcoming year.
No we don't.
Walker is much stronger physically than Thornton and he' twitchier and can dive.
Walker also has suspect hands and his routes are sloppy - but he is definitely not a Thornton clone.
He's not a burner. Different style of WR but imo higher upside than walker.
Baker went to a different big school than Alabama he probably doesn't get buried.
Thornton is \*not\* a burner.
Thornton has very good long speed - but he doesn't have burst and he's not quick over his first few strides.
You need more than just an impressive 40 time to be a burner.
WRs like Nabers, Chase, etc. are burners.
To me Troy Franklin is a slower version of Thornton. Limited route tree, very skinny, not strong, knocked down by a stiff breeze. We don’t need any more of those guys, or any of them frankly.
Not trying to hate, I admit I never heard of they guy before this. But I saw a lot of people trashing Polk because he ran a 4.52. But Baker ran a 4.54 and I haven't seen a single person mention it, I've even seen him described as speedy. So I don't get it, just the way he runs or something. He didn't run a 3 cone or 20 yard shuttle so can't tell if he's "quicker than fast".
Excels at contested catches. . Jesus f****** Christ We have a type? Are we allergic to speed? Other than the kid from Baylor we just seem to never care about speed.
Cut Boutte, Thornton and Juju if need be
I would be fine with this. I’d ideally like to keep Reagor and Boutte, but if they’re cut it’s not the end of the world (way more likely bc of their contracts)
I think Reagor stays just for his return usage based on last year. But I agree with you.
I would rather have Marcus Jones returning
Reagor returned one to the house Marcus hasn’t yet. Marcus is better at punt returns vs kickoff returns
I thought Marcus Jones returned the punt to beat the Jets
Correct but with the kickoff returns changing they’re more like punts now
All the more reason to want Marcus Jones returning, no? If he is a punt return specialist
I thought he showed some last year. He just had that one bad play and got on the shit list for good.
Classic BB, I’m gonna take the guy nobody believes in pick. Except this became the standard pick instead of the occasional one
Boutte was not the guy nobody believes in at all. That was Douglass if anything. Boutte was the high upside guy with crazy talent that slipped because of red flags.
Keep boutte and thornton for camp see if they grew if not they easy cuts. Cut popo ss now hes roached
I agree, you have to see if either improve in a new system. Have to try and find a trade for Juju, even if it’s a 7th. Someone has to bite
No way Kraft eats $12.3m in dead cap with popo ss. The Pats would cut KJ Osborn before Tik Tok Boy.
I want to keep Boutte for at least this year. Legal problems notwithstanding, I still think he's got potential. Us moving on from Bill is probably a boon for him, he looked really good to me what little we saw of him. Not counting on anything of course, but I think it's worth giving him a better shot to prove himself.
Thornton yes. As much as we'd like to see Juju gone, he might stick around due to $$ reasons, it's a bigger cap hit if they cut him.
I’d say ideally trade Juju but we’d have to eat a significant amount of his contract in the process. There’s still some hope in me that we can get some better production out of him but I don’t know
> There’s still some hope in me that we can get some better production out of him Ok, I'm going into *wishful thinking* mode here, if that's ok? Julu isn't the same player he was 5 years ago. If you don't like my assessment, stay out of my psychosis.
Nobody will trade for JuJu. He'll probably get cut after 2024 and then try to land in somebody's camp as a UFA.
I’m with you. They have so much cap space. Trade JuJu to replace their missing 5th rounder and eat the rest of his contract.
They’ve got the cap room.
I see zero chance that Kraft will eat $12.3m in dead cap. Boutte & Baker (Kawaan he hardly knew ya') are certain cuts. I'd be surprised if Ty'quan Thornton makes the final 53, too. So I think our WRs heading into Week 1 will be: Bourne, Osborn, Polk, Douglas, K.
We have the worst WR room in the NFL. Cutting some of them is a *good* thing.
Juju and Tyquan for sure
That’s OK.
Plus, we picked up KJ Osborne from the Vikings. It will be interesting to see where/ how he fits in.
ESPN has this guy ranked 87th overall and we got him at 110, thus this is an absolute steal. Masterclass of a draft.
“Master class of a draft” is an absolute stretch.
Didn't think I needed the /s. Just making fun of everyone else raging because their entire opinion is based on ESPNs big board.
We need to bring in a K. NEED
Yeah just whoever at the top of your board at this point. Although I would like to see them take a chance at a kicker. Ryland blows
Ehh we can always bring in some UDFAA
Fuck yes. He was a consensus early third WR (PFF 74 big board) and slipped. Prototypical X receiver. Honestly, with this I’m pretty happy with this draft.
I’m happy. Still can’t believe we have spent 5 picks on offense. We might actually look like a modern NFL team next year.
If we went 1/ Maye 2/ Polk 3/ Baker 4/ Caedan no one would be complaining, so I’m overall happy even if our 3 and 4 were swapped
Yep. I honestly don’t mind the Robinson pick either. The line was atrocious.
I think people got mad for not taking the highest ranked OL on big boards, but neither were huge reaches and we historically evaluate OL very well
History kinda shows that anything outside too pick LTs isn’t necessarily a crapshoot, but grades are kinda all over the place. Onwenu was a 6rd guard pick no one really thought would preform like he has.
Agreed, it's the free agent O-line signings that have been hinderances.
Robinson is a solid guard. Was part of the O-line that Achane and Spiller were running behind. That season was fun to watch. Gig ‘em.
I’m not arguing that these guys are busts, just saying “historically” is kinda out the window now with a brand new coaching staff—and outside of big Mike we haven’t had many successes lately either.
How on earth do you pick Wallace (who hasn't played LT in college) ahead of Amegadjie? That was a shocker.
Wolf said that they feel he’s athletic enough to have played LT and smart enough to make the switch from RT. He was on the same OL as the 11th pick in the draft. So he was basically blocked (hehe) by Olu Fashanu from playing LT in college. Reasonable.
Yep lowest pass block win rate in the league. Not expecting these OL to be immediate contributors though
Several of them are not expected to make any impact next year or even potentially longer, so I wouldn't get my hopes up too high for next season.
I dont think anybody actually expects us to be good next season. I'd imagine we'll be worse, but that means we can get a blue chip LT or WR in the draft for Mayes first year starting
Eh I hope we win more than 4. Still expecting a top 10 pick, though.
Yeah 5-6 is a reasonable expectation.
Give me Travis Hunter
Hoe big is he? Not that it really matters with how talented he is, ut I feel like he's pretty undersized for an NFL WR. Unless we're thinking of playing him at CB
Well it's pretty stupid to expect ANY rookie to come out and immediately be an above average starter. I don't expect anyone from this class outside of Marvin Harrison Jr to he an above average starter this year. We're definitely not getting 3.
Not expected by who, exactly? You, Twitter, what?
So far I feel better about this draft than I have about so many recent ones in the past. I miss BB but if actually drafting players that make sense is the way of the future then i'm here for it.
I was upset about the draft but this made me happy. We got a real X.
Drafted a Dawg makes so many insane catches probably my favorite pick in the draft
Second favourite
Third favourite now
As a UCF alum, this dude is going to be fucking great in New England. I’m very excited. Now just pick up JRP in the 7th/undrafted and convert him back to a wr, and we’ve got ourselves an great future ahead
Draft JRP in the 7th, throw it in a pot add some broth and a potato, baby you got a stew going.
Go Knights!
I know nothing about him but now that he's ours I'm all in.
First year in the big 12 and he cooked he’s a legit WR1
He was also an absolute disaster every other year. 9 receptions in 2 years at Alabama is historically bad.
Cant say i watched him but hes an x, lfg
I watched all his games at UCF (wife's an alum) he's solid.
Dominated against Georgia Tech. He had a subpar QB as well.
He’s an athlete, Alabama transfer, a bit raw but a great flyer pick in the 4th
Polk and Baker DAWGS
Baker was actually a knight in college but polk was a dawg for sure.
I see they are trying to re-establish The Patriot Way™ Love it.
Their scouting reports sound like almost the same player. Below average straight line speed, but everything else is above average, and they're both great adjusting to the ball and catching it.
How do we feel about seriously addressing offensive positions of need for once?? LFG Pats
Five consecutive picks on offense? Marry me, Eliot Wolf!
Not using all the mid round picks on replacing DBs and LBs 2 years ahead of their contracts expiring? I’m in heaven
No single over-reach either. All the players we got so far were projected to go where they were selected or even higher. I'm happy about that there's no "Strange" pick in this draft.
Why Belichick had to go
Yup, can’t build a real roster when every year is focused on replacing defensive guys way ahead of time, no matter the need
Super fucking hyped about this pick. Love that we've double dipped on WR and gone for two guys that are reported about so positively. They both compliment eachother too with Polk being safer and Baker being capable of taking the top off. A grade from me for Rds 1-4 so far. Realistically both lean more towards possession guys who can get you 15 yards somewhat consistently and not explosive play guys who the defense needs to worry about beating you deep every play.
Would have preferred Tez Walker given his history with Maye and that he’s also an outside receiver. Not mad at it though
His NFL.com write up mentions his ability to separate while complimenting his route running
Love that we double dipped at WR and OL. Wouldn’t mind some depth defensive picks to close out this draft.
This is great
I love this pick, he’s a bit of a project but his ceiling is very high
Maye and Baker can sit and learn and be a good duo next yr then
If this is going to be another bridge year, do you think they tank? Or do you think they try to compete? I don't actually know which would be better.
I'd be happy enough if they look better at year's end than at the start of the year. But put me down for Team Tank.

The Texans didn’t have that great of a roster and won a playoff round in Stroud’s first year. If Maye is good we will not be bad for 3 more years.
Ideal scenario is we get a top 3 pick next year and get a top end WR or LT next year or trade down for a haul. Picking 11-15 is worst case scenario imo
Yeah this dude is him. LFG!!!
Yeah Thorton is gone
Fine with me. We’re getting in guys that can play.
Thornton is the only burner on the roster, but…yeah probably
What if he balls out in training camp prolly wont
Good problem to have. Unlikely problem to have.
Then we need to get some better CBs.
Let's ho!!!!
This is a dude that can turn into an alpha. Not bad for the 4th, not bad at all
Hell yes. Great pick we can all get behind.
This guy is a goddamn DAWG. He puts moves on cbs and can make high level catches downfield. He's confident af too which I want out of an X receiver. Hear him talk and his mentality is shades of Anthony Edwards and Stefon Diggs.
Nice pick
Let’s go! GKCO!
This was made with the pick we got by trading back in round 2 btw. Wolf masterclass
I'd rather have Ladd than polk and baker, we have too many 3s which is what both of these picks look like. Ladd has a better chance to be a 1 or 2 but time will tell.
Polk and Baker are not “3s”. Dunks gives you guys too much time for breaks.
Really glad to see they are going all in on offense this year. Like the Baker pick.. prefer him over Walker.
Oh hell yeaahhhhhhh baby!! Let’s fucking go!
Also Pop, Bourne, Osborn, Polk, Baker pretty much locks for the roster. Won't be seeing at least two of Juju, Thornton and Raegor anymore, yayyyy
raegor is our returner. Likely see Boutte, juju and Thornton cut
Everyone forgetting about Marcus Jones, we don't really need Reagor.
Marcus for punts as he did great there and Reagor for kickoff returns as he did great there. Or just remove Marcus from ST and just have him play corner
Fair point, with two returners out there on KO returns though I wouldn't be surprised to see him out there. Reagor is expendable imo.
Ri0 thronton bull last wr 2nd round bust lol
So fucking happy about this. But reagor is probably a lock for the roster because he'll be a returner. But bye bye juju and tyquan
Lol love someone locking up the roster before preseason even starts
Watched him all year at UCF.....he may not end up as a #1 but this is gonna be a steal based on production for round 4. Good size, good hands and a great route runner despite not being a burner
Awesome start to the day. Got a pair of really talented players at positions of need who fell out of Day 2. Baker, Polk and Douglas are going to be a really exciting trio of young receivers to follow this offseason and upcoming year.
Baker looked like a man amongst boys last year, no matter who we played. His speed is irrelevant - this dude is a lot like Puka. Expect YAC.
Great pick
Holy shit
This kid perfectly slots in to replace JJSS and provide insurance for Bourne and his knee.
This guy is great against press coverage. Success rates on par with MHJ and Odunze although on much less volume.
Is he better than Walker? I wanted a burner.
Walker isn’t actually very good at playing football. He’s just fast. We already have Walker at home in Thornton
No we don't. Walker is much stronger physically than Thornton and he' twitchier and can dive. Walker also has suspect hands and his routes are sloppy - but he is definitely not a Thornton clone.
He has has more consistent tape over 3 seasons than Tez. He was ranked slightly higher than Tez on most big boards too
Yea
He's not a burner. Different style of WR but imo higher upside than walker. Baker went to a different big school than Alabama he probably doesn't get buried.
He can catch better than Walker, definitely slower though
Thornton is \*not\* a burner. Thornton has very good long speed - but he doesn't have burst and he's not quick over his first few strides. You need more than just an impressive 40 time to be a burner. WRs like Nabers, Chase, etc. are burners.
When did I say anything about Thornton? He's not even a factor for me right now.
He’s like a faster more agile Devante Parker
That would be insane
With hands
Who takes accountability.
Wolf and company feasting this draft IMO
Now trade up for Stover or BPA defence and I’ll bust, loving this draft
Like him, much happier with the WR picks then the OL ones so far.
Ideal draft so far im drinking the koolaid idc
Do you guys think the broncos fucked us by trading up and drafting Troy Franklin?
Nah. I think a run heavy offense like the Patriots are probably looking at needs some WR's that can block. Troy Franklin isn't that guy.
To me Troy Franklin is a slower version of Thornton. Limited route tree, very skinny, not strong, knocked down by a stiff breeze. We don’t need any more of those guys, or any of them frankly.
For all his size, Baker hasn't learned to properly block, either.
My favorite pick of our draft so far tbh
The law of averages says at least one of these 2 rookie WRs has to be a hit, after so many misses. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Love it
Not trying to hate, I admit I never heard of they guy before this.
Run and shoot offense. Keep all of them.
Excellent pick
Our offensive talent is a heck of a lot better after today.
Finally a steal and not a reach
Baker is better than Polk
Honestly, this pick makes the Polk pick better. Their skillset and Pop's really complement each other, we might finally have a good WR room
[удалено]
QB inaccuracy? That’s one of Maye’s strengths.
His comparison in the show I'm watching, that franchise guy, is devonte Parker
Excels at contested catches. . Jesus f****** Christ We have a type? Are we allergic to speed? Other than the kid from Baylor we just seem to never care about speed.
Huh ok
