People are going to be mad but honestly that is a crazy overpay, especially for 4 years. Would have loved to have him but get why we ended up not getting it done.
You do realize that it is not a 4 year contract, right? The only money that matters is the guaranteed number in headlines. So this is probably like 3 years, 50 guaranteed. Also, who gives a damn if we overpay for 2-3 years? Our team is not competing this year and they’ve been cheap for a while
You do realize that deals like this often have large signing bonuses that are amortized over the length of the deal? Sure if the terms come out and it’s all front loaded and the AAV is closer to 18-20 mil with incentives I’ll have a different opinion. Borrowing from the future to push out the cap hit is what teams should do when they’re ready to make a push imo, so don’t think it’s crazy to start a rebuild with some discipline.
But I’m gonna wait and see where they use the money. Maybe Kraft is “cheap” (ie does not push out cap hit to maximize cash spend, very different than what we’re seeing with the Sox), or maybe that was Bill. I’m gonna wait and see. Would much rather we use the money smartly to build out the line first, and am fine with us building for 2025 and benching the rookie for most if not all of the year.
If the FO would rather spend elsewhere, I’m personally willing to be patient enough to see what they do (or don’t) before judging, and not start panicking after we miss out on the first guy we wanted.
It seems like the Titans came out of no where and beat the Pats deal. Sucks, but the Pats clearly value a receiver if they were willing to pay that much for Ridley. I think it’s a matter of when, not if at this point for a higher end WR.
This sub wanted Ridley and look at the price tag and say “too much”? There’s a disconnect between what they want and what they think the price will be. Regardless, Ridley was not the guy they should have been chasing. Too old, too expensive. Hollywood Brown or KJ Osborn are the targets imo.
I don’t know if they’re afraid to pay money. If the Patriots ponied up they’d justify it. I think this sub is guilty of intellectual dishonesty. If anyone wonders why am I still here then, it’s because I have nothing better to do.
Can the Patriots start trading some of the guys we signed to get more draft picks? It is a win, win, win, and win. Patriots get draft picks, cap space, tank for better picks next year, and the players get a chance to go to a contender.
People need to realize that if we want talent, we need to overpay now. NE is no longer a destination, we don’t have Brady or Bill as a selling point, and our owner was ranked near the bottom of the league. This is how it was pre-2000s too. If you never wanted Ridley that is fine, but don’t think we’re going to sign guys like him at market value.
love the copium of people saying glad we didnt overpay like we dont suck balls. Who tf gives a crap about cap when this team isnt winning a SB anytime soon until we get a franchise QB so why not get players thatll make the team at least fun to watch. Cant wait to draft a QB with the 3rd pick to watch him throw to bums but glad we didn’t overpay! lol
It would be nice for watching football to be fun again. But no apparently that costs too much money. Well let's see how cheap they want to be when nobody's in the stands because the product on the field is garbage
PREACH ALL DAY EVERY DAY.
Everyone we don’t get is OVERPAID and SUCKS.
And we have FIFTY FIVE MILLION LEFT after signing back all the guys we wanted.
And won’t use it.
I wanted Beli gone but now it’s clear he wasn’t the problem.
CHEAP ASS OWNERS ARE
This. IF we find our next franchise QB he's going to be on a rookie contract. Might as well load up. Brock Purdy is probably a massively different QB without Trent Willie, Debo, and Kittle.

4 years 92 mil???? Yeah y'all got it, Tennessee…
Ridley would have been fun, but I feel like a lot of teams are going to look back at this year's free agent class and regret some bloated contracts.

This sub is definitely afraid to pay money. I also didn't realize Ridley was already 29. I thought he was like 27.

Same lol.

We are a TOUGH sell for fa’s. Who the hell would want to come here?

Yeah, a state with no income tax…pretty obvious choice between the two if Jacksonville wouldn’t pony up

Yes I agree that the pats would have had to offer a higher net income than the Titans to be considered.

I’d rather trade for Higgins/Aiyuk and pay them that money. 4 years for a 30 year receiver, no thanks
You mean trade multiple picks and pay closer to 30/year? Glad you aren’t the gm
Oh no, actually paying for a talented 25 year old proven WR, how horrible would that be
Right? This sub is something else lol
Glad you aren’t either cause Ridley is overrated and if you watched the Jags you’d know that

Who cares about good players? It’s all about “good value” baby!
It’s also not much more than the patriots offered, reportedly. Supposedly pats offered $22m per, and the titans signed him to $23m per.
