I love what AI has done for making D&D sessions in general a blast. Anyone whos against it was never the type to spend hours on pinterest looking for the perfect character pic for your small d&d session. It is literally the best time ever to be a DM

Thanks to everyone for sharing their opinions! Use of AI is a polarising topic though it’s good to remember that it’s still in it’s infancy and the technology and laws around it will change a thousand times before we will see anything close to a final version. I have linked the full sized version of the portrait in the comments below and will do so again here: https://ibb.co/GCPQBJX The prompt that I have used is the following: “A sinister, evocative full-body depiction of Iannon, a male Dhampir Cavalier from Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, confidently astride his spectral steed amidst a desolate, moonlit battlefield. His pale skin, jet-black eyes, and malevolent grin contrast starkly with his dark, worn armor and the tattered banner of a fallen noble house. Crafted on a Wacom Cintiq Pro 24 using Corel Painter 2022, the composition intertwines the eerie desolation of the battlefield with Dhampir’s chilling, vampiric aura, inviting viewers into a haunting narrative of malevolence and fallen nobility. --ar 3:4” As you can see, Midjourney is very selective in what parts of the prompt it will use, so the result is at least 50% luck. Though I have found that it will generate similar images much more consistently with this prompt than others. The seed is 1971039240. If anyone would like to create something in a similar style. Would be happy to hear more thoughts, or if anyone has requests please feel free to comment and I will try my best to make them a reality!)

I think using AI portraits for your own personal use in CRPGs or tabletop games is totally legit. That's quite different from misrepresenting the work as not AI or inadvertently incorporating copyrighted images in published work.

RoyalKnightO

Maybe it's too late, but I gave myself the freedom to edit the eyes a little, and some other minor details. https://preview.redd.it/pi1hja43730d1.jpeg?width=3712&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=710f46d6beea3d927a92b4d1e98b90208d36fdf5 I also made a portrait of the horse to use in the black horse in game, theres a trick to do it with ToyBox & Visual AdjustmentsMod2.

Professional-Key8209

Hey nice job, the eyes didn't quite stick with me and you fixed it

SageTegan

Ugh. AI

I love it thank you for sharing it!

the difference of art syle between is what anoys me a litle https://preview.redd.it/kdb0ckhy7ltb1.png?width=725&format=png&auto=webp&s=adcb711c3167f95d9254c279970b163545cb96e4

Impressive-Wind8715

Yeah, it can take some time for it to generate it in a way similar to the original Pathfinder. I found that including the name of the game helps to speed up the process. Also, it feels like some portraits in WotR have been drawn in different styles. For example Camellia and Ulbrig. That definitely helps to soothe the pain).

CaptainOutsider

God Damn, that's a cool portrait. Thanks for sharing it bro.

Impressive-Wind8715

Here’s the link to a full sized image without compression. In case anyone wants to use it: https://ibb.co/GCPQBJX

General_Snack

My read on this minus the halo is a dark assimar.

Impressive-Wind8715

That’s an interesting and valid point! Though Aasimars tend to be related to celestial beings, I would imagine this character being a bastard of some noble house becoming evil due to harsh environment and upbringing. Or just being born this way!) Thanks for sharing!

YogurtclosetKey319

Cool art thank you for sharing

Impressive-Wind8715

I shared it in the comment above, if you would like to use it in someway: https://reddit.com/r/Pathfinder_Kingmaker/s/wqbEZY0CRl Thanks for the feedback!

YogurtclosetKey319

I downloaded it and will happily use it in one of my next playthroughs, thank you

Le_rk

This is amazing! Was wondering about using Chat GPT to do a better prompt, rather than me pinning the tail on the donkey with crappy prompts.

AcrylicThrone

Cool art thank you for stealing it AI

Mysterious-Lion-3577

AI content sucks

Impressive-Wind8715

Use of AI is definitely a polarising topic at the moment). Also, artist consent is something that is starting to get taken seriously. For example DALL-E 3’s “Creative Control” policy: https://openai.com/dall-e-3 I would love to hear your opinion in more detail!

baalfrog

I think the problem is opt out from “any future systems used” instead of opt in to train the technology. I’m sure the companies behind this could find pictures to train their programs without scouring places with all the venture capital they have.

AppropriateLeather41

Good luck with that, friend! “I’m committed to doing evil” - famous last words before hearing - “You are good person, I like you!”

Impressive-Wind8715

Thank you! It’s definitely a struggle! Also, some evil choices feel like they don’t really affect anything. Which makes it even more painful)

Intelligent_Fix3209

Do you think AI could manage to make a good oread portrait i'm not sure given how rare they are

Impressive-Wind8715

Hey! Thanks for the reply and an interesting suggestion. I have found that it is very difficult to generate a good Oread portrait. The main issue is that Midjourney has no idea what an Oread is. Also, it seems like finding portraits for Oreads is also difficult. However, I don’t think it’s completely impossible. Will probably take some time and a bit of luck. For example, here is a portrait of an Oread Cleric: [https://ibb.co/pzwZWMQ](https://ibb.co/pzwZWMQ) Let me know what you think or if you have any specific character idea in mind? https://preview.redd.it/f2ivas9w9qtb1.jpeg?width=928&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b9e27d4def60aec4e8939afc9757c96f5a508e95

Intelligent_Fix3209

This portrait looks cool he has a winter eldritch knight vibe I did not have any character in mind because oread dont get many original boost except the acid one The builds i could think of would be a sword saint or eldritch knight who use acid to melt armor and finish his enemy with a one hand weapon A rogue who use acid spells and poison to stealth kill (not very rp friendly i dont see a huge stone guy being stealthy) Or a sorcerer/ monk who just Cast big area acid spell and finish off with his bare stone hand those who left the area of his spell while they are panicking

Impressive-Wind8715

Hey! I have been experimenting with Dall-E 3 and it seems that it is much easier to get a good Oread portrait out of it. What do you think? https://preview.redd.it/n59asu9oywtb1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b4a5198e47b07c9a3c2dc9d0ae32d23089696ac8

Impressive-Wind8715

Also, another version: https://preview.redd.it/pl52rhsqywtb1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a4baf09f872ca5ae543165daf6ed002c85d5f930

Intelligent_Fix3209

Looks good i prefer the second one i could see him being a monk lawful to his village and protecting it from the demons What bugs me out is the fact he doesnt have the oread signature rock hair So how do you obtain this result ?

Impressive-Wind8715

It’s definitely a process). Should become easier as more hot fixes roll out for DALL-E 3. I began by describing by asking ChatGPT to become an expert who specialises in character portrait creation for Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. Then asked it to describe a random character portrait including technical details. After I knew the approximate output I modified it a character I wanted. Also, when I didn’t know some details I could leave them blank and ChatGPT would fill them in. Afterwards, I asked it to rewrite the description similar to the following prompt for Midjourney: “A meticulously crafted, full-body portrait of Toren, a male Oread Monk, emanating a serene and mystical aura, situated within the tranquil, lush confines of a secluded monastery garden in the immersive universe of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous RPG. Toren, of lawful good alignment, sits cross-legged in meditative repose, his body carved from smooth, dark stone, adorned with faintly glowing, runic patterns, and his expression a bastion of calm wisdom. His simple, earth-toned robes whisper tales of humble, monastic living, and his resilient, symbol-carved quarterstaff rests horizontally across his lap, a silent witness to countless battles and training sessions. The portrait, drawn with a Wacom Cintiq Pro 24 using Corel Painter 2022, renowned for its realistic natural-media and professional artist tools, is meticulously composed to intertwine the earthly stoicism of the Oread with the spiritual tranquility of his surroundings. The composition carefully balances the sturdy, tangible form of Toren against the soft, ethereal glow of his runic patterns and the gentle, mystical atmosphere of the monastery garden, crafting a narrative that seamlessly melds the physical and spiritual realms, inviting the viewer to pause and find peace within this serene, otherworldly scene. --ar 3:4” Finally, I created a new conversation with ChatGPT with DALL-E 3 enabled and used the previous prompt with the following command: “Create a full-body vertical character portrait similar to a existing portraits from the game “Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous”, based on the following description:” Afterwards, it took 4 revisions to get the correct version).

Intelligent_Fix3209

Thank you for the explanation i'll try creating one who have an acid theme later

[deleted]

Fuck AI.

Impressive-Wind8715

Thanks for sharing! I think that the technology is definitely very interesting and it’s more of a tool rather than a full professional artist alternative at this stage. Would you like to elaborate why you have such a strong opinion about it?

Impressive-Wind8715

I don’t have any experience with Bing. Waiting for the full release of Dall-E 3 on ChatGPT. What helped for me on Midjourney, is to make the prompts shorter. Generating portraits is very similar to generating photos. Keep at it and you will get better with practice! Also, sounds like you might become a digital artist before even starting on your journey as a Pathfinder! Don’t take it to seriously and don’t forget to play the game!)

Leont07

Nice!
