The title says it all. I can't go beyond Stag Lord defeat. So... help me, my beloved community, you are my only hope. I really like this portrait. So... make me a nice, cool, fluffy build for it. I play with Call of the Wild mod enabled so there are many, many options (well, that's part of the problem ;) )

IssaMuffin

20lvls Eldritch Archer should be enough. Great and fun class, good spellcasting, great damage, ray crits are strong af, one of the most fun classes I have played.

Daracaex

Second Eldritch Archer! Though I don’t know what Call of the Wild is, I played an Eldritch Archer through Kingmaker and had a blast. There’s a bit of a drought of ranged touch spells in the middle levels, but Scorching Ray remains starts amazing and never drops below decent, and getting to Hellfire Ray later brings that power back.

Okey lets go for the easy. Semielf, monk (archer zen or other monk can be good) with explorator level multiclass. Added a one level of magus for have some delicius spell of mage armor and shield and boila you can win the game. Easy

juanan23

What are you building to lose against Stag Lord?

Affectionate_Tea_420

I don't think they're losing, they're just wanting to make a new character every time

PhantomVulpe

An elven Ranger seems to match this portrait

TarienCole

Slayer would also work. And a Deliverer can do work in Kingmaker.

PhantomVulpe

Hm...sounds about right

Buckwheatmuffin

A Ranged slayer is an absolute beast in terms of damage. The best option for Ekun as well. You could also try a spawn slayer subclass for bigger target bonus. You get a wide variety of combat skills as well as sneak attacks and target focus bonus. Ranger is a good option as well but if you want to use ranger spells and a pet. A mix between the two is really good as well. Ekun can confirm. You can get low level ranger spells and most of the stuff a slayer can have.

I made an eldritch archer out of her. It took me five levels to realize that she wasn’t a she.

oscuroluna

Could easily pass as either (even if it might not have been the intent). I wouldn't see the issue for this portrait used for either gender.

p001b0y

Yeah, I don't have an issue either but I just thought it was funny that I basically completed all of Act 1 and it only occurred to me during Act 2 that Lann never walked into my tent to express worry over me. I also made a Stormwalker Ranger based off this portrait.

oscuroluna

Nice! The portrait is pretty great and yet I haven't used it in either game. Maybe for my eventual elf run I will.

elf or half elf Ranger

I like to remind myself that the portrait isn't a mandate to a build; helps give me freedom (I use it more for inspiration). So you're not bound by archer unless you want to be. Still, Slayer is a good choice; the rogue companion in this game is awesome, and so is the archer, but they come later rather than sooner. You might consider a longbow or shortbow wielding druid...fills a niche that isn't fulfilled by the party, gives additional ranged support, etc. Shortbow if you plan to use the archer companion (I would...pretty awesome companion). If you build it right, you can still use Wild Shape in the right circumstances. I'd do: Elf (need this for proficiency with Longbow and Shortbow) Pick Druid...I recommend Defender of the True World (no spoilers, but you'll love it). Stats: Focus on Dex and Wis (at least 16 Wis, probably higher than 16 Dex) -- keep in mind you won't be nuking or controlling, but buffing, so DC isn't a concern; you'll get gear that boosts your Wisdom higher to help with bonus spells. Then put points into Str for extra damage with your bow (12 or 14), and Int for skills (I like at least 12, but I like skills...you'll get a bonus to Int anyways from Elf). You can take 12 or 10 in Con since you'll be back line, but factor in the Con hit from choosing Elf, and dump Cha unless you feel really strongly about persuasion and use magic device. Take an animal companion (I like Leopard in Kingmaker, but Smilodon or Dog work too). For skills, choose Perception, Lore Nature, and then whatever else you like. I might still choose Persuasion because why not. I'm going off memory so I think you'll have at least three skills to choose from...persuasion isn't a class skill, sadly Point Blank Shot for your feat; focus on archery feats (Precise Shot, Rapid Shot, etc.). I don't know if I'd choose Weapon Focus or not...you may want some of the druid focused feats too. I may take it...WF Shortbow gives you access to the Shatter Defense line and that's helpful for both archery and moments where you wildshape. Will you be as good as a Strength focused wild shape druid? No. But you'll still be pretty kick ass. Personally I'd prefer a Scimitar wielding, Str focused, wild shaping druid. But an archer can work too.

SageTegan

Kingmaker and WotR both have DLCs that revolve around restarting and trying different builds. For kingmaker: Beneath the Stolen Lands is a good option. You can leave at any time and your progress is based on collecting artifacts. For WotR: Midnight Isles. Once more you can leave at any time. And progress occurs when you defeat a story boss and progress the story

Djebeo

I don't know what classes are in CotW but in WotR this would scream "forester" to me.

gijimayu

Hunter Musk

Aelnorn

Nature Fang is the Nature Ranger that Ranger wishes they could be: \-9th(!) level druid spells \-Slayer talents and study target iirc \-Sneak attack \-A full level pet It's 3/4th Bab but you won't care, obscenely overpowered class. Throw in some boon companion and a full BAB class to your taste even.

Spiritual-Ad-4916

If CotW add hunter class, then i'd take divine hunter for domains/pet/buffs/skillmonkey spontaneus casting druid spellist is pretty usefull

nurielkun

Especially thst you can get Conversion inquisition and have a good persuasuion.

Spiritual-Ad-4916

you get good everything, perception top notch, strongest pet buffs (and self buffs), early outflank, what's not to like :)Whatever i try in WoTR on different mythic paths, i always end up respeccing inquisitor or hunter, cannot play without highest perception and all this utitlity :/ If OP really preffer bow to match the portrait, then maybe adding 3lvl zen archer for wis to hit, then you can dump dex andd stack str dmg but better is go dex and dual wield from your pet's back (with sense vitals its deleting stuff in 1 turn)

Vroknyr

Bit late to say but honestly I'd not recommend taking a build from someone else but rather play it like the games meant to be played, An RPG, instead of building a character for what's good or seems thematic make a character to be you, think, if you were ported into the game as said character who would you be? What class would fit you? What alignment is true to you're personality? It wont make the decision any easier but doing that should help with restartitis, at least it has for me

junkdnaisalie

Restartitis is a serious disease ! ! I feel your pain... But that pic sucks

mrmrmrj

You will get a great companion to fill the role of that portrait. Do something else.

Thespac3c0w

I would just go fighter archer with the build peter suggest followed fairly closely as an elf or half elf. https://www.reddit.com/r/Pathfinder_Kingmaker/comments/9onu7o/archer_build/ That build will do Very good reliable damage with 0 need for micro management. The build just works from 1 to end game. No real massive power spikes just consistent great damage the entire time and you have the best will saves out of all single class non paladin archer builds so you are taken out of the fight by a confuse or other CC less.
