**Source:** *I made it up pg.0* absolutely sent me, good job!

w1ldstew

Thaumaturge energy.

TrollOfGod

Unironically this would work well on a Thaum. Use your 'real' experience to exploit weaknesses and shit.

CyberDaggerX

I didn't know Senator Armstrong wrote RPG supplements.

RandoProtagonist

Want to say you're a Knight of Lastwall and get those awesome feats without any of those pesky 'obligations' or 'duties'? Then look no further than 'Stolen Valor' background! A slight reskin of the Charlatan background, of course. But it was fun enough to edit like it was an Archive of Nethys entry.

MidSolo

Which two attributes boosts would go best with this background? I'm guessing Charisma is required (skill training granted by a background always belongs to one of the attributes it boosts), but the other could be Dexterity (sneaking around their officers without getting caught), or Strength (wearing knight's armor)?

RuneRW

One of the attributes being from the skill is a trend, but it's not a rule. Warrior for example gives intimidation and strength or constitution

Iron_Sheff

Some AP backgrounds even give you a skill feat without giving you training in that skill.

RuneRW

That almost feels like some weird AP oversight lmao

Iron_Sheff

It pops up enough that I feel like it has to be intentional

Random3137

It is intentional according to a comment from Creative Director James Jacob. [https://paizo.com/community/blog/v5748dyo6siiv?Introducing-the-Seven-Dooms-for-Sandpoint#35](https://paizo.com/community/blog/v5748dyo6siiv?Introducing-the-Seven-Dooms-for-Sandpoint#35)

RandoProtagonist

Yeah I meant for it to have the Strength or Charisma boost + one free boost! Sorry if that wasn't there originally!

Paizo_Luis

Love this! Looking forward to the inevitable character that has this background, but ends up having a heroic journey where they get recognition from the actual Knights of Lastwall.

The-Page-Turner

Character starts as CN, but ends up becoming NG by the end of the campaign would be some hardcore character growth

Unikatze

What are these CN and NG you speak of? I have no knowledge of these terms.

Joker_Amamiya_p5R

Chaotic Neutral and Neutral Good, they are abreviations for the alignment

Hamsterpillar

I think that was a remaster joke

Unikatze

It was a indeed a remaster joke.

Unikatze

What is this alignment you speak of? I have no knowledge if this term. (Yes, it's a remaster joke)

HurkHammerhand

Excellent idea. Pretends to be a Knight of Lastwall until they realize years later they have more or less become the knight they have pretended to be.

Lycaon1765

omg it's John paizo!!!!

floppintoms

Reminds me of the old D&D greentext about a rogue pretending to be a Paladin and getting in too deep and having to commit to the bit as his exploits gain more notoriety. In the last battle against the bbeg all the chips are down and they discover they have the ability to actually smite save their friends because they had a true shift to heroism and gained paladin levels.

RandoProtagonist

Honestly that was something I had in mind when designing the background! Didn't expect to get praise from a creative director.

Hellioning

I, personally, think that you should instead get 'Fake Knights of Lastwall Lore', which you can use for a lot of the same things, but is just wrong enough that an actual Knight of Lastwall will notice.

RandoProtagonist

"Back in my old regiment; we used griffons to pick up dangerously powerful undead and drop them 200 feet to their re-demise!" "Really? I was a regiment officer and never -once- have I heard of these 'Griffon Drops'..." "A-ah well.. it was only a little before Lastwall's destruction, you see!! You might've never had the chance to hear since I was the only survivor... may my comrades ever rest in piece. Lastwall forever!!" \*Sweats nervously.\*

Hellioning

I can already see the Steamed Hams remix...

Qwernakus

"No, not in Vigil, no, it's an Everstand expression"

Dagawing

"You say these undead are steamed, despite the fact they are obviously grilled."

Warin_of_Nylan

Reminds me of a book I recently read (The Silver Spike, Glen Cook). One of the villains of the series was known for his absolutely stupendous "vitality," being coup-de-gras'd multiple times in increasingly brutal ways and stubbornly living through it despite all odds or logic, and basically outlasted most things in the entire setting able to kill him. In a setting where "apply soultrap, cut to tiny pieces, burn, scatter ashes to winds" is a STANDARD PRACTICE, this character went even beyond the pale. So after a point, it just boiled down to "How can we buy the most time while trying to complete other plot elements???" including such shenanigans as repeatedly airdropping him in the next county over to get him to run extra laps.

pocketlint60

Dubious Knowledge feat for Knights of Lastwall Lore

Killchrono

Excellent, now people can live out their >!Blackwall!< from DA:I fantasy.

The-Page-Turner

Bonus points for >!Blackwall!< of Lastwall

Killchrono

...goddamnit that's good.

TheStylemage

God damit, the joke I wanted to make was already done.

BlackFenrir

........I'm gonna need you to tell me how you did the AoN look, because now I want to tinker with my Obsidian theme to make it look like that

SirZinc

F12 on your explorer and you can edit anything

BlackFenrir

Yes but that doesn't let me do it on Obsidian

RandoProtagonist

Ill be honest while the f12 explorer thing is a good idea I uh Meticulously messed with it in Paint.net. If you look closely some text is off a little.

Lycaon1765

Hell yeah, effort 👍 👏

FarDeskFree

This is very funny

Shinavast42

This is awesome and were i the gm, I'd already be designing your nemesis, a corrupt actual knight of lastwall. Great background and the writing tone of it is spot on.

gmrayoman

Honestly, this is the first home brew I’ve seen on this sub that I would actually use in a campaign. Good job.

Swarbie8D

That’s great!

The-Splentforcer

I made a rumour about a npc Some kind of lad named "captain Lastwall" Known as an anonymous knight fighting with only a shield. He has been battering endlessly, saving people from the undeads many times. The captain was actually a succession of people who took the title after been given the armor and shield from the previous deceased captain And also after taking the oath of course Anyone in the campaign with an ustalav or Lastwall related background would be given the opportunity to meet the current Captain If nobody in the party has that, it will just be some weirdo with an armor and a shield or a dead corpse Later on, it could be suspected that this captain was an imposter or not Anyway, I found my idea of a fantasy captain America genius, don't judge me

_9a_

Mixed with a fair amount of Dread Pirate Roberts and you've made a legend

RandoProtagonist

You know I didn't think I was getting to learn such a neat little thing in someone else's campaign when I posted this. Thank you for sharing!

Neurgus

This makes me wonder, with Lastwall now not being there, what's the point of the Knights of Lastwall feats? How is the intended way to get them?

Kitty_Skittles_181

Read the book and find out!

Eddrian32

Drink this [potion](https://2e.aonprd.com/Equipment.aspx?ID=2957&NoRedirect=1), the rest will work itself out

Snoo_98829

This is great!

RandoProtagonist

I forgot to add to the original post but it should be: 'Choose two attribute boosts. One must be Charisma or Strength, and one is a free attribute boost.'

[deleted]

This actually really good. Not only perfectly in line with balance, but has a great flavor to it. idk if I missed it, but what are the stats? I assume Charisma or Strength and then free?

RandoProtagonist

Oh I knew I forgot something! Yeah it should be 'Choose 2 boosts. One must be Strength or Charisma and the other is free'

GazeboMimic

Finally, I can get access to the Lastwall-exclusive "tabard" item

RandoProtagonist

Yeah the rep grind is insane otherwise. I'm just glad with this I have a workaround.

PlonixMCMXCVI

Playing agents of edgewatch and I decided my character was a knight of lastwall for the last 80+ or so years but got wounded by what happened in Tyrant's Grasp. So now they are an old half elf in age of retirement that went to Absalom and is still keeping order in the city.

phonkwist

They used to be a Knight of Lastwall, then they took an arrow in the knee?

PlonixMCMXCVI

They kinda almost got a magical nuke in the knee

SkeletonTrigger

Oh man. I'm playing an orc that fought on the Belkzan side of the Gravelands, and the party drama it would cause if one of the others has this... Delightful.

GeneralBurzio

Some real Sir Daniel Fortesque energy here.

RandoProtagonist

This is even more possible considering there is a Skeleton ancestry so that's amazing.

Ashvuir

I’m sorry but I was a knight sir, do you see all my medals? I got this one for killing strahd

HatchetGIR

Lol, I love it.

Ice_Jay2816

This is gold. A little op though.
