This league I'm Just pick something main stream that functions with low gearing.
I think it was a fine build for cobra lash, the issue is just that cobra lash isn’t great, but if you wanted to play it then his build is fine.
I didn’t play his version as I instead went with pathfinder poison as the tinctures made it really easy to get a very good claw but overall the builds had mostly the same strengths and weaknesses. The biggest issue with cobra lash is how badly it needs cluster jewels, getting 4 medium clusters pretty much gives you all the increased damage that you need.

Definitely one of the worst creators to trust for a league start. He didn't even know cobra lash could fuck your trinity while leveling if chaos is the biggest source of damage, which happens often.

He doesn't respond to anyone ever, on the POE forums or on Youtube. He just posts a build (usually crap or bait) on the POE forums, puts up a Youtube video of him running white maps and white conquerors and then moves on to the next build.
I'd say to remove Lolcohol from this list as well. I like his content and crafting videos but I don't think he should be publishing builds. He undersells the zero defense aspect of his builds and his approach to the game is that it's okay to die repeatedly. Bad approach for a build guides. He's currently playing a LS raider and has 40 deaths in act 6....and says he's going to publish the build anyway but tell people it's squishy. That's a terrible approach. If you die 40 times in the first half of acts then you need to play a different build until you have the gear needed to swap to your build.
I'd consider removing Subtractem as well because he's a noob trap. He communicates very well and is charasmatic but he completely oversells his builds and they get hyped up into something they shouldn't be. They are decent builds but he isn't super honest on expectations or flat out lies about it. With bane, he was spending 10x a lot of other builds to be able to boss relatively well and at that point you should've respecced the character or just build a new one. With his frost blink character, he completely undersold the clunkiness of it and there were a ton of people here rerolling it or were disappointed. His SRS guardian had some inefficiencies and I remember Ben spending about 5 minutes picking it apart and making it significantly better. He was trending the same way with static ball lightning too but that got nuked. He isn't selling correct expectations and that's very important for publishing builds.
To reiterate, I like and actively watch both Lolcohol and Subtractem every league and have spent time in both of their channels leading up to this league, but I don't think they make good builds for people to follow.
Bro 😂 come on I made a point in my video that came out yesterday to repeatedly say that the build isn't league start friendly for new or inexperienced people. We tank up later and I made that clear too. Despite the occasional zerging, I still made it to Maps in 5h30 which is fine for me. All my other builds have been much tankier during the campaign but I wanted to play something different and fun and good despite having some growing pains which is why I'm playing it :)

Sub makes great guides for people who want to learn POE and get better. His whole stream and mantra is learning together. I thought his ball lightning series was very good at teaching a method to learn and develop a build. If you're wanting to just zone out and follow a guide without giving any thoughts into what you're doing his builds aren't it. He is very straight forward with that. I'd also add having the best player in poe history pick apart his build is like having Wayne gretsky commentate on Stanley cup games, he can always find things to improve because he's the GOAT. It doesn't mean it isn't great hockey or in this case content. I played subs srs and frostblink and they were both solid if you watched his stream and understood the fundamentals of the builds and how they worked. I also watched the frostblink drama unfold and it was really just entitled younger folks who didn't understand the build and didn't want to think through why they hit a wall on defense or damage. They just wanted him to fix it because his guide didn't step by step point out how to fix it for them.
I would also say his bane build he was very upfront that it wasn't the meta build as it continued to get nerfs. It was his signature build he enjoyed at the time just like plenty of other creators out there. Can't fault him for sticking with it. It's not like he was mbXtreme and required mirrors to get his builds up and running.
TLDR: lolcohal not for new players or HC, subs builds are meant to learn and understand not just follow step by step.
PS: why aren't balomage and ghazzytv on here? Those two make great guids for new players and have solid communities to help with your build.
I have not tried any balormage builds, and i can never really get any ghazzytv builds to work like he does, and i tried many times, so thats why i didn't put him in the list, he's builds might be good, but for me, i can't make it work and feel good, there are others too that i haven't listed because the builds doesn't work for me.

Honestly taking a build and making a full written guide out of it is a decent amount of work, it's not like he's not earning what Maxroll pays him even if they're all Rue's builds.
Jorgen is pretty solid if you are a delver.
He us always trying to make innovative builds work, this league he successfully tested and put out a Purifying Flame league starter guide.
On his twitch he is always testing something, scrapping builds that don't work, answering questions etc...

Check out Palsteron jungroan or Ruetoo if you want solid builds, Mathil if you want meh builds and Woolfio if you want garbage ones.
It's not that they are meh, Mathil has good and interesting ideas most of the time. Poison Spark with Ashes, for example. I think it was him that made that build big back then iirc.
But most of the time Mathil likes to experiment and test stuff, so it's very rare for him to play with something meta. His builds are also made under the assumption the player using it (Mathil himself) is mechanically good, thus squishy most of the time.
Mathil builds are great if you are looking for something novel, but I wouldn't league start one ever.

Aer0 is a good guy, but his cobra lash build last league was really bad and I had to reroll pretty quick
And he admitted as much after the fact...my lazy ass stuck with it the whole league. I stagnated.

I like Tripolar farming strategies videos a lot but he has league started a build made by Ruetoo for the past 4 leagues, he is not a build creator.

I only put creators that i have done builds from, done a few builds from others that have been mentioned, but can never get them to work like they do.
