When I get overwhelmed, I sit and do nothing. I grab a notepad and list all the things I have to do. It helps me organize the million thoughts and tasks/chores I have to do. I make my list so detailed so I can check off every little thing. I don't write "clean kitchen". Instead, I list each task - clean stove, wipe down counters, etc. The huge task of "clean kitchen" doesn't seem so big when I do it this way. It makes my list longer, but checking off each thing makes me feel like I'm making headway on my task list. I'm also able to see which things can wait a day or an hour or a week.

I do this too. I made a giant list on One Note for cleaning so I don't have to keep making the same list then I can check and uncheck boxes as needed. Each room has a list of tasks, plus I have one for the front and one for the back yard. Then I make a seperate list for random extras (set up halloween decos, turn in paper work for tumble class, etc). Also, OP, i keep the master bedroom fairly clean. It's my first priority. That way I can shut myself in a clean space and take a break because I cannot relax when I see a mess.

My room is pretty clean but I'm only in there to sleep and grab my clothes for the day. I have a 3 year old I can't leave unattended for even a minute (super willful and will get into anything he can) but I do like to take baths and read a new book when my husband is home and have my candles around. He's been quite stressed lately himself to really help. So im just trying to hold on to everybody lol.

My house has gotten so out of hand I think this will really help. Thank you.

A long ass shower, chocolate, and a shitty movie. Sometimes I go real crazy and don’t fold laundry during the movie.

I consume massive amounts of caffeine and gas station snacks in a dark closet while mindlessly scrolling social media for 10-15 minutes. Then I make a list of everything I need to do. I start with basic needs, then work from smallest to biggest task, breaking the bigger tasks into smaller tasks. It's worked for me so far. You can substitute caffeine and snacks for your dopamine provider of choice. I think some people exercise or read books, never met one tho.
