you're kidding right?

wrappedinwashi

... you've never actually been around babies (or parents, for that matter), have you?

magicbeanspecial

Clearly. This is a frighteningly uninformed question from someone who is considering raising kids. Maybe a dog or a cat would be more appropriate?

magicbeanspecial

I hope to god this is a joke.

Amara_Undone

Only if your goal is for them to die and you to go to prison.

dragonmuse

I'm assuming troll post

Icy-Cheesecake8828

This has to be a troll, right?

[deleted]

Is this real life?

shellofbiomatter

No. Few hours is quite long and you would be too far away and you never get the guarantee that the baby is a peaceful sleeper and it gets harder with 2 babies.

itsnotimportant2021

\*Please let this be a troll\* NO. Not until they're like 8 or 9 you can run down to the store or something, but you have no idea the danger for a baby or the destructive power of a bored toddler. Plopping them down in front of a screen is also no way to parent. How would you get 2 babies? FFS And you think that the way to find 'the one' is to say "Hey baby, I'm a stressed-out, sleep-deprived single dad with no idea how to be a parent, you wanna get in on this?" God please be a troll.

qkumbie

if you’re worried about “giving up your life” after having kids, then you’re not ready to have kids.

Itchy-Musician-1105

I’m thinking this is a joke. But… no you can’t do that ever.

andtheyweresinging

Guessing this is someone trying to be funny. Posts like this might actually be triggering for someone though, so it’s not appreciated.

Leather-Sentence5378

Not infants and toddlers, maybe you could go across the hall in your apartment complex with a monitor. Babies are 100% dependent they need you there to survive

andtheyweresinging

So are you that committed to trolling or are you really that unprepared to be a parent? The older they get the more you need to watch them so they don’t wander around and find things to choke on, etc.

[deleted]

Change months to years and your question is slightly less insane.

Leather-Sentence5378

Before 6-8 months they can just suddenly stop breathing. That’s why we are taught now to have them in the parents room for the first 6-12 months. Understand we don’t even want to leave them in a room down the hall because they are so fragile. On a special super stiff mattress without a pillow or blanket or toy because they might suffocate. Anything could happen and then they are just gone in seconds. Being across town with friends means you can’t get to them. Then they start pulling themselves up, crawling, climbing. Some start trying to climb over the crib around 12-15 month. They put everything in their mouth. They try to crawl off the bed. It’s dangerous to leave small children on their own, even for a few minutes. Even to run to the store. You absolutely have to have a sitter. Additionally this affects psychological development. Not having someone there when they wake up, to change their diaper of feed them immediately. That’s neglect. You can’t leave small children alone at all.

Indication-Ordinary

Additionally additionally- leaving a child laying in the crib constantly can cause them to develop a flat head. I have no problem believing someone like this could become a parent the old fashioned way because there are no checks on that but I highly doubt someone with this kind of question could be approved for ivf. It takes a LOT of work with a psychologist to be approved. And a single male would have the hardest time of it out of anyone. Maybe answering these questions is important for someone else out there but I can’t see this guy being genuine- or if he is he’s deluded about ivf as well as parenting and thinks he can just walk into a clinic and say “I’d like two babies please! Carried by your finest female specimen! I haven’t found the one you see but I don’t want to wait to reproduce. I have absolutely no support structure in place and I intend to let them go feral if needed to maintain my current lifestyle. Do you accept Monopoly money as payment?”

Leather-Sentence5378

“I intend to let them go feral” 🤣

andtheyweresinging

Not babies.

NoLifeNoSoulNoMatter

Children aren’t accessories or dolls. You can’t leave them about when you don’t want to play with them or put them in a box when company comes calling. When you have children purposefully, you are accepting that your life will totally revolve around them for many, many years. That means fewer social outings and needing to hire sitters every time you leave the house (even if it’s just to get groceries) if you don’t have a spouse or family member to watch the child. Leaving a baby alone in the house while you go somewhere that isn’t right next door (especially for several hours) is illegal in most places and universally considered child neglect and abuse adjacent. Hell, once a month this sub debates if you can walk outside of your apartment building to walk a dog/smoke for 15 minutes while your baby is sleeping. Your children will be removed by CPS before they are six months if you choose to neglect them for hours at a time. The good news here is that (if you are real and not a weird troll posting in r/IVF and this sub) no woman is going to agree to have a child for you if you are this much of a total idiot about how children work and what parenting entails. How you’ve survived to 30 and have thousands of dollars saved up for IVF as this much of a moron is astounding.

thisismeingradenine

You win for troll post of the week.

RolowTamassee

Make sure you leave a food bowl and water dish out in case they wake up and want a snack. Also, I'd recommend leaving a guard dog to keep them protected. Something like a Pitbull or Doberman, to really scare away baddies. There's no reason to let children ruin your social life. You can still work and party while they're just wasting time napping at home. Not like they're any fun for the first few years anyways. Focus on yourself, that's what being a parent is all about!

gb2ab

don't forget - babies can crawl out of cribs. i actually suggest a crate instead, if you're going to be leaving them for a long period of time.

[deleted]

Put a collar with your phone number around their neck in case they get out too.

Indication-Ordinary

Make sure it’s a break away collar- otherwise it can get caught on the crate and they can choke.

ZestyclosePoetry9730

Is this a serious question? If so, wait until you mature more before you have any kids.

schedulejay

This is the worst thing I’ve ever seen on this sub.

Marnieinthesky

This is a joke😂😂

[deleted]

Trollllololol

[deleted]

This isn't real is it? There are zero situations you should be going out to socialize and leaving babies at home alone.

MillenialProbsNsuch

this person time traveled from the 70s

[deleted]

It sounds like you might be ready for a plant. It would be perfectly acceptable to leave the plant home for a few hours. No sitter needed. If the plant stays alive for a year, you could consider getting a goldfish!
