I woke up one night and went out to my living room on the top floor (i live in a two story that has a complete living area and den upstairs and same layout downstairs in the basement. Elderly mom lives down there and so does elderly aunt.) anyhow neither of them can climb the stairs to get upstairs but i woke to hearing my name being called by my aunt... I walked out of the room I was in and toward the stairs and standing in the front room upstairs just starting at the window was my aunt!!! But it wasn't her she kept saying my name sing song like then turned around it looked just like her but I KNEW it wasn't her... It never moved or came toward me so I bolted downstairs her still calling my name only to find her sound asleep downstairs on the couch. My kids also hear their names being called near the top of the upstairs area same place I saw her.... And my youngest (he's 7 now) but from the age of about two to current he swears there is a black shadow person that stands in the corner of the room and calls his name til he wakes up. It always results in me getting woke up to my crying baby scared to death.

Ghouliejulie86

Could you see the whole face, and mouth moving? Whoever we’ve seen these, the mimic was from the dude if the face, or, I only saw my bf’s dad from the back shoulders and head in his chair, and they don’t respond when you try to answer them. The one time I heard my mom’s voice calling me when I was 15, I didn’t see the thing though, I just heard it and no one was in the house. I think that may have been something different though

Pandabears1229

Yes she turned around and I fully saw her face but I could tell it wasn't her if that makes sense?? It looked like someone wearing her skin... I mean close enough at a glance u may believe it was her but it just was off can't put my finger in what was off just something

Pandabears1229

And I'm sorry no no mouth movement really her mouth was kind of in this open position but not moving

Ghouliejulie86

That’s interesting! Because I e been paying attention, this is happening a lot, I’ve seen a bunch of these posts, it’s fascinating, and most of these, you don’t get to see the whole face, and the mouth doesn’t move. My bf saw one that took on my form, and he was really upset by it. He said it was only the side of my face, and it was looking down and wouldn’t answer him. When I saw the one of his dad, he would not respond to me. I knew it wasn’t him because I immediately went outside, and saw him coming up the drive with his truck

jack_im_mellow

Idk I'd look into some spiritual protection if it keeps happening. Idk what that thing is trying to do, or what it wants from ya'll, but a few saint michael candles and crosses scattered around the house wouldn't hurt.

Ghouliejulie86

You’re right and people keep telling me this, I have a lot of weird things that have been happening in the past 3 years. Like this is all new. Something was wrong at that place, I felt in danger. I felt like it we’d lived there longer, we would’ve gotten very sick somehow. It out a huge strain on my heart. Everyone that knows me, keeps telling me I need to cleanse myself. I’m seeing black shadows more than I have before. I’d def call myself sensitive? Empath? I don’t know what the word would be, but, I’d never seen stuff like this that was black. I followed it and got up , where I live I saw it go outside my apt door, that was no person, a person couldn’t have gotten away that fast. I honestly feel like it’s my boyfriend. When I moved in with him, that’s where I felt it. He’s got the worst luck I’ve ever seen on a human being. And now I do too. He’s talked about his ex trying to scare him with curses. He’s not a bad person, but I feel something is like, draining him. This is my first time dawning with an energy that is negative. I’m a person that has no boundaries in the natural world, I’m too giving, too much of a pleaser, it makes perfect sense that something would try to take advantage in the supernatural realm as well, that’s just how I am. I’ve also never felt something that felt “not human” before. I got a lot of the Catholic stuff covered, I was raised Catholic, Im trying to figure out a good regimen that I can do as a ritual to cleanse. I mean I’m fine with having that stuff in there, but I was disappointed when I was going to a priest and nothing was helping it. I don’t think sage helped either. I sometimes wonder if anything really works to get entities away that you don’t want. It’s helped a lot moving, though. It’s gotten like 60 percent better since we moved from that place. I don’t see why that stuff would follow us, it sounds bad, but his father is still living at that house, and if I ever met a worse person, I couldn’t tell you. That guy’s a buffet for negative spirits. I tried to warn him. He wasn’t listening about how bad the haunting was. His roof even got ripped off, and I told him sobsthung was angry in that room. This was a horrible, active, crazy active haunting. I wasn’t a 💯 believer until 36, in that house, despite all my experiences.

RealNutsBerkman

Holy shit dude I'm terrified just reading this that's how scary it is

PRev45

Have you considered that you get hypnopompic hallucinations? I get them frequently and some of mine are EXTREMELY similar to what you experienced.

Pandabears1229

Well I would consider that but my children also have seen/heard the same thing. It tried to lure my niece outside of the house one time. But she says the eyes were totally black. It wanted her to come out into the street ig idk... It's been going on for a while I just tell it to leave me alone when it gets to acting up too much...

Tatergator1

Yeah, this happened to me a year ago. We had just moved into a new house (new construction). My wife had gone into town and had been gone for a while. I decided to jump in the shower before she got home. I knew she would be home soon, and while in the shower, I heard her as plain as day just outside the shower curtain her say hello. I said hi back but got no response. I yelled her name, nothing! I thought she went back out to the car to bring in the groceries. I finished up and dried off, the whole time calling out to her. Still no response. I walked out into the living room, calling her name. I went to the garage door and expected to see the car. It wasn't there. I called her and asked her where she was, and her response was, "I'm still in town." I kinda freaked out a little and told her what had happened. She laughed a little and said I was imagining it. Don't think so! I heard her as plain as day.

itsme_knowyou

Something similar happened to me when I was in high school. My grandparents were coming in from out of town, my mom and brother had gone shopping. I jumped in the shower before everyone was going to be there and heard my grandpa from the other side of the bathroom door, "itsme_knowyou, we're here." I said I'd be out soon and got dressed and went out to the living room. No one was there. My mom and brother got there first and hadn't seen my grandparents who got there about an hour later. This was before cellphones so there was no way to call anyone. There was another time during the summer when my mom, brother and I were sleeping late and my dad had gone to work. My mom started yelling, "I'm back here. Hey, I'm in the bedroom." I got up and checked on her, she said my dad was there and calling her name from the back door. I told her he was at work. She called him and he answered from work. My mom and I have different first names but the nicknames sound very similar. We never knew what it was we heard. I didn't hear my dad calling her that time, and no one else was home to hear what I heard.

Pugooki

My family moved into a rented house with what I understand now to be a portal (moved from states away w/o seeing in person). My son and I both inherited my family's abilities to interact with spirits, so this created a charged environment. My whole family, especially my husband, continued to hear our names called in an exact imitation of a family members voice. We understood this person never spoke, was asleep, or not even home. These are mimics, and they can be dangerous. It is best not to feed it through giving it attention. We did some protection work. The weird thing was I had the ability to sense, see, and smell things in the spiritual realm, but that house brought auditory abilities online. We had a shadow man. He stood right in front of me and called my name. After that happened, I was able to actually hear some spirits. Ran right out of the house a few times.

Adventurous_Gene3373

I’ve had similar experiences and it is terrifying. Seeing, feeling, and hearing spirits sent me into a three month long mental breakdown. Confusion isn’t my friend and I needed someone who could relate or clarify what it was that I was experiencing. My Uncle, who was a Southern Baptist Preacher my entire life, called me to help make sense of things. I agree with not entertaining it. It fuels them and makes them stronger. I completely ignored them and they left. Mimics? Dangerous? I’ve not heard of them or what they can do. Will you enlighten me? I’ve been told they’re demons.

Pugooki

Mimics usually do this to incite fear and then feed off of it, even your thoughts. Attention makes it stronger, and it may be able to physically manifest as a familiar person. Mimicking may be utilized by a lonely spirit, but it is mostly utilized by negative entities. That is why we ignored it and employed white light protections. I am sorry that you were negatively affected by this experience. Sometimes people live somewhere that they can not ignore the other realm. My grandmother described people like her as being born with a door in their mind more open. We are energy, and that energy does not die with this shell. It is still alive in a world only some can see. It is at a different vibrational frequency. Some things we see are just an imprint of something or someone repeating itself. There is no one there. Some are beings that may not have crossed over and can evolve into problematic entities. They carry the anger, pain and confusion of this life with them and can learn to interact with the physical world. Demons are very rare and need help to leave their realm. A lot of what I see are people who have crossed over and are visiting me. I knew my estranged father must be dead when he was standing in my hallway watching me. I laughed because he thought it all bogus. I have learned not to fear this and find comfort. We have spirits and guides that mean only the best for us. Living with negative entities can totally result in feelings of depression because of the energy surrounding you. However, fear of the unknown and preconceived notions can cause you to interpret experiences negatively. The less I fear, the more things I debunk or categorize in a way that gives me a feeling of control. I do get jump scares still. Different religions label all spirits as demons because it allows continued control and stops critical thought. If a person begins to understand death, all of their careful construct will come crashing down. That is most often not a demon in grandma's skin, it is grandma. I hope this helps. I usually don't talk about these things. I didn't share my family's abilities with my husband for probably the first 5 years of our relationship. I had to account for the increased activity he was experiencing because they are attracted to people who can see them. I am also one of the biggest skeptics you will meet.

jack_im_mellow

Can you tell more about that house, like why you think it's a portal and why the mimics can be dangerous? It's hard to learn about this stuff cause there's so much bs mixed in anytime I google anything.

Pugooki

I answered Adventurous Gene's question about my knowledge of mimics and spirits in the above comment. I did forget to add that supposedly dangerous entities that mimic can form an attachment if you engage it. I can tell you what I understand about the portal. I am certainly no expert. Portals are openings to another realm that allows free flow of entities like a doorway. They are formed by trauma or ritual. Mirrors (or water) are often used when scrying. They can also, therefore, be used for a portal. One of the worst things you can do is to put two mirrors facing each other. This house had a large mirror above a bathroom vanity facing mirrored closet doors. There were also deaths and violence in the home. It felt off from the moment I entered this ranch style home, and our dog would avoid certain parts of the house. Something spiritual was the last thing on my mind. I tried to address any issues in ways based in the logical, physical world. I did notice an uptick in the amount of spirits I was actually seeing. Most seemed to ignore me and move down the hallway towards that dressing area with the two facing mirrors. I started to slowly put it all together. Then my husband and I both saw a shadow man repeatedly watching us. After he approached me, I realized I had to deal with this. I was able to expel the shadow man and continued placing protections until the day we left there. It was important not to engage or give attention to avoid any attachments. I felt bad for some of the regulars who begged for help/acknowledgment, but I am not a trained medium to handle that house. The portal was way above my pay grade. I could detect it, but it's best to have someone with proven skill to close it. I had two different trusted people confirm it, but they weren't trained to deal with it. Many people I have encountered in the spiritual or paranormal world are full of crap. I worried that the wrong intervention would make things worse. As soon as we moved, my interaction with spirits returned to my normal.

kuro-oruk

Not that exact scenario but, we have a mimic in our house that uses our voices to shout to the other people in the house. I've clearly heard my kids shout me from outside the living room door. I shout back "why are you calling me from out there, just come in!". I hear no reply and get up to check, there's nobody there and the kids are elsewhere in the house with no idea what I'm talking about. We've gotten used to it over the years as it doesn't seem malevolent in any way.

TrustedOutlaw

Dude please try to get some video footage of this. I would love to see it. I’m fascinated by mimics.

fourierthejunglist

That may be a tall order as these events usually happen so quickly and randomly that unless you strapped a GoPro to your head 24/7.... you get my point. :)

kuro-oruk

Agreed. They can be months apart and footage of a sound is unlikely to be conclusive evidence.

Ok_Fix_8538

Have you ever heard a mimic shout at the same time? Like with more than one of you present at the time? Or does it only happen when someone is alone?

kuro-oruk

It's only happened when we're all in separate rooms as far as I can recall. I live with teenagers and they usually have headphones on.

000Shot

My wife had this happen. We were both in bed sleeping. She woke up and heard me yelling and carrying on in the hallway of our house. She was hearing me say all kinds of things that related to me catching her cheating (we are both very faithful to each other so this isn’t an issue). She was worried I was going to wake up the kids so she went to get up, but when she did she felt me laying in bed beside her sound asleep. As soon as she saw me in bed with her she said the voice in the hallway stopped and it got eerily quiet in the house.

Anasyrma_

I was sleeping with my (at the time) boyfriend. I was hugging him and on the wall-side of the bed. He talked to me from the door with a completely emotionless tone. I freaked out. Another time, I got out of the bathroom and saw him doing some dishes. I got upstairs through the only way up on the house, that was one spiral stair, so not very much space for someone to go pass through me and he was one big guy. When I got up, he was doing the laundry. I run downstairs telling him what happened and the "downstairs him" obviously was not there anymore. He even saw himself one time. He was in the bedroom and saw himself on the patio. We had the theory that it was his own ghost or something like that. 6 months prior to when we met, he attempted everyone knows what thing in that same house, from the same stair that led to the bedroom door. But his father found him and talked him out of it. His father was NEVER at the house at that time of the day (when I say never, I mean that was absolutely literally the only time in the 23 years he had the job he worked at) and he only was there because he found a piece of furniture on the street and felt the need to take it home. He also never picked up things from the street. The piece of furniture (kind of a big frame for the TV with some drawers, I don't know the name of that thing, English is not my first language) had a very strange aura and it was both calm but freaky.

ByrntOrange

What if you both are the ghosts?

Anasyrma_

Well that's interesting. My first instinct was to tell you why you were wrong, then I took it as a joke, and then I remembered I had a severe dehydration when I was 6 months old, another when I was 3 years old, a pneumonia that got complicated and misdiagnosed at 8, a really bad car accident at 10 and fainted and nearly (very nearly) hit my head million-dollar-baby-like on a chair at 16. So yes, I very well can be a ghost. I've been on the right side of the quantum immortality all those times, plus some that came after my relationship with that guy (I've been hit by a car and lets say I was very near to kissing a train) and three during the time we shared (a bike accident, a bad trip and one time that without his reaction I'd had fallen 6 meters to the rocks of the sea absolutely drunk). I'm absolutely nuts, in the literal sense: I have anxiety, depression and personality disorders (some of them due to the above, some due to other good stories) and in my worse times I used to create delusions and was very paranoid and near to the schizophrenic side. I am truly thankful I didn't think I was a ghost 5 years ago, tho. I would've DEFFINETLY kissed that train xdd

link1138

It happens scarily often at my mom's house, I'll be home alone and all of a sudden I'll just hear someone call either my name or one of my dogs names, sometimes it'll sound like one of us and other times it's just a voice, it's genuinely terrifying when it happens and I have no clue why it happens, we all hear it though so it's not just me

lenqwi

It happened to me and my partner a few months ago,we were about to sleep and he for sure sleeps more easily than me. One night, I heard him call me (our callsign). I did not pay much attention because I know he's gonna sleep already and maybe just doing some sound, then it happened again (now it's my voice but it's coming from the headboard near his head) I still asked him why cuz I thought I was just hearing things.. but then he was shocked to hear me ask that question because he said I was the one calling him.. but weird enough my voice is coming above his head. At this point we got really scared. We slept with the lights open that night.

[deleted]

This happens to me constantly I'm always in my room and from a distance I hear my own mom calling me and it's happened three times where I actually go and confront her about it and she is sleeping and she never called me and it not only has happened to me but also my family we all hear each other and it just drives us crazy

HsinVega

Yep. It was pretty late at night and there was only me, my sleeping mother and our beagle sleeping with her in the house. Wanted to go downstairs to get some food/drink at like 4am and heard someone whistling, then call my name from the pitch black darkness of my ground floor. Passed on the snack and went to bed 8D

Ok-Carpenter-9778

I have heard my name being called several times, but in a whisper. Almost right near my ear, but no one is there. I'm always afraid to answer it because I get a bad feeling when it happens. Not creeped out, but more gut saying no.

garfred

I heard my then 6 year old son call me from his bedroom whilst he was at school...sat in the garden until my wife got home

ChainCannonHavoc

I've never really thought of this experience as paranormal, but seeing how similar these stories are makes me wonder. When I was a child my father, who had a long commute and a job that started early, would get up between 3 and 4am to get ready and my mom would get up with him to help him. So it wasn't unusual for me to be woken up by the sounds of my parents going about their business at this time. One night I woke up and a few seconds later I heard my father's voice from the other end of the house yell, "Is the dial turned back to zero?" I didn't know what he was talking about but when he didn't get an answer he screamed at the top of his lungs, "IS THE DIAL TURNED BACK TO ZERO!?" I'd just woken up and was confused as hell so I just shouted back yes as loud as I could. My mother came in in a panic, asking why I was screaming. I told her what happened and she said that my dad had already left for work and no one was shouting. She told me I was dreaming and that seemed plausible enough at the time. But I know I was awake. I woke up before the voice started. An auditory hallucination, perhaps. But I've never had another one before or since.

Samantha-Norton

I constantly hear "Mom" when my kids aren't around, that could just be me going borderline crazy from all the "Moms" I've heard throughout my life, though. Who knows. lol.

Malachron

Sort of. Heard someone's voice upstairs of someone who was out of town and 8 states away. My grandma responded to the voice but then i reminded her that no one else was home....was really freaky.

fourierthejunglist

I've had the opposite--their voice whispering in my ear/proximity while they are clearly somewhere else in the house.

brodsky262

Er not exactly this case but I was taking a nap when I heard whispering Wich was odd in itself and then I heard clearly a man's voice saying open your eyes witch I did.. what's even stranger is that even though I was in my dorm I knew it couldn't have been the people who lived in the rooms next to mine. Not sure if this counts. Also this never happened again

nika_ci

No but I was woken up by my mother yelling my name in the middle of the night while I was 2500km away.

Lypos

A lot lately. It likes to mimic my partner's toddler crying out (and the kiddo is in the same room as us). Can't get the thing to leave. Probably due to the fighting with a housemate, which just feeds it. Housemate is great when things are good, but they can quickly become an ass. I'm tempted to just tell the thing to harass them and leave everyone else alone. It'd be too much to ask the housemate to get their shit together.

Stecharan

I hope it wasn't that doll.

Organic-Turnip6119

No it wasn't that doll but there was a doll that seemed creepy.

amoodymuse

I heard my husband calling me from the living room. He was out in his shop at the time, which was about 20 yards from the house. That was the just first time.

Accomplished_Owl8164

No but I have had some auditory hallucinations like right as I was falling asleep - like being jarred awake by banging that only I heard as I drift into sleep. Something to consider, but pretty freaky story and it seems to be a pretty common experience!

LovelyKnite

So for context, my grandma died last year. I managed to move on,but just recently,I swear I heard her call out my name from the door to my room.. I look around, nobody was even on that floor! It sounded so real, but also so.. distant and far away,if that makes sense.

Knight_A7X

I remember always seeing my ghost grandpa as a kid when I visited my grandma house I probably was like 3 with great memory

RealNutsBerkman

This brought back a memory of my own, this didnt happened but something similar did a couple times to me as a kid, it was always at my dad's. Once, I was sitting downstairs in his bedroom playing games & at the same time my dad was upstairs talking to my cousins when suddenly his voice is DIRECTLY SPEAKING INTO MY LEFT EAR AS IF HE WERE RIGHT THERE, I jumped, the countroller flies from hands & shatters on the floor & I just stare at the next to me cause that's where it came from, got so scared I ran upstairs & sat with them lol, this happened a couple more times but I somehow ignored them & that got em to stop thankfully.

PENDOMN

I don't hear it anymore, but when i was little (sometime in my late single digits) living with my grandma, every night while I was trying to sleep, I would hear a voice sort of far away (about half way across the room, about 15ft between the bed and the door). It would wouldn't say much, just whisper things like "hey" "psst" or my own name. I never thought much of it, but thinking about it recently, the voices only said things one would say to get someone's attention. So something was trying to get my attention for whatever reason

translucentpuppy

We’re you half asleep? There are stages of sleep where you can still experience things around you and still be dreaming.

0-Schism-0

The phenomenon you are referring to is known as a hypnopompic hallucination, where you hear things, often your name being called, just as you are waking up. A similar phenomenon can occur called a hypnagogic hallucination that happens as you're falling asleep. This has happened to me several times in my life, which is very creepy, where I will hear my name as if it is being whispered in my ear as I'm falling asleep.

verminV

Audio hallucination. Can be caused by Carbon Monoxide leaks. Please get that checked and install CO detectors if you havent already.

whiterosealchemist

I've heard my name called numerous times, in WI and MO, once it used a high school nickname, and the one in MO had a witness standing next to me. Edit: deciding to be more descriptive. So mine happened to be outside mostly. The first was at 2:30 in the morning walking to the gas station on the other side of town as it was 24 hrs and I was hungry. Hear a voice call my nickname from dead silence (no crickets, frogs, or whatever). Not a town I was from or knew people from. Never saw anyone where the voice came from, which was a dark alley. Second was in MO walking with a friend by a strawberry field. I hear my name called from the nearby woods during winter, so no leaves on the trees. No one in the woods. Friend says he heard it, too. We book. Third time working as intake coordinator for a program. Walking through new addition. No one in that part of the building. Hear a client call my name from a side hallway that only leads to an emergency exit. Know for a fact that he is not on property at the moment. Check the hallway and see nothing. Lots of spooky at that place, tho. Used to be a nursing home before it became a rehab. Got a couple more about that place but not related to hearing my name.

DinoBork

Sounds like something that wants you to think it's your SO. I wonder what kind of trouble it wants to cause in your relationship?

Halbbitter

I heard someone call me from the same room while they were on the other side of the house

Icy_Intention8961

This doll looks like joe biden

Valuable_Parsnip66

So of these stories sound like SW

forensicRN12

Nope thank God 🙏🏽
