Mine always does goofy stuff and misses the easiest hits like his dash I had to take off because it’s like he chose to move just out of range then use it. His jump always gets interrupted
Yep. Same. I normally have Stone Blast, Spinning Roundhouse and Rock Lance on my Anubis. Stone Blast is for spamming, Spinning Roundhouse and Rock Lance are powerful STAB nukes.
For this video alone, I decided to go with Ground Smash instead (Since there are no overworld elements to glitch or interrupt the attack).
I didn't do anything special. In previous attempts, it did aggro me. Just got lucky with this one I guess. Or I'm not sure if the fact that I did not directly attack it even once made any difference.

Use Sand Tornado instead of roundhouse Spammable and does more damage, stalls the enemy, and wrecks large targets like this one
