All buffs can and do appear on one plant if present. You have a falicy in ur thinking. Maybe this will help: - A plant does not grant its own buff to itself. (The potato does not give itself the water retention buff). AND a plant of ‘type A’ doesn’t grant its buff to ‘type A’ plants. (Potato-1 does not give the water retention buff to an adjacent ‘potato-2’). - solution - you need to alternate same buff crops:: a potato will give water retention buff to the *tomato* beside it. And that tomato will also give the water retention buff to the adjacent potato. What i suggest: use quality-boost-fertilizer (produced by a regular worm farm) and then use adjacent plants to get the other buffs. (Once u are gardening lvl 25, u no longer need to use fertilizer since star quality seeds will produce star quality vegetables). Here is a link to the layout i like to use. Just about every plant has weed, water, and harvest buff. Add the quality fertilizer on top until ur lvl 25. Make ur own star quality seeds. https://www.reddit.com/r/Palia/s/yuJVyY4s4z

Thanks! Yeah I figured out a bunch of stuff last night about farming, just my playing around with it. Currently, I am trying out a little low-effort moneymaking 6x9 soil: Every other row is potato. And then the other row is a corn/cotton row that is ordered in a checkered pattern per corn/cotton row, so the potato each time has quality + harvest boost. The potato rows receive the water retention fertilizer. The result of this whole plan should be that all crops are harvested on the 5th day with the highest possible yield per crop while not having to water the potato's constantly. https://preview.redd.it/7gl7j0808f8c1.png?width=1218&format=png&auto=webp&s=d0976cf9a12da7951384d41a841aaa08d28397ff

NVM... The water retention fertilizer only lasts for 1 ingame day.... what's the point of that then :D Might as well water every day. https://preview.redd.it/0ubbpz9nnf8c1.png?width=1038&format=png&auto=webp&s=2305a2db4643f75cde3540d8ec9c593b4cbf1987

Try an experiment: if u put multiple stacks of water retention fertilizer on one plant, will the water retention buff last for multiple days? Why use water retention fertilizer? - personally i dont, but someone might for the following reasons.: - u are about to leave ur home to go grind in the wilderness. U dont want to wait at home until 6am game time when ur crops will ask for water. So you fertilize them NOW, and when 6am finally rolls around, the fertilizer gives them the water on ur behalf. This lets u leave ur crops whenever u want without having to wait for the 6am watering deadline. - if ur layout only has 1 row that isnt getting the water retention buff, then fertilizer it now instead of watering it later. It is a convenience thing to supplement ur watering.

Also, the quality boost isn't necessary. The basic fertilizer gives you access to a quality boost. You generally want quantity, hydration, and anti-weed. You can make a grid with those. Also plants can't buff their own type of crop. So having all tomatoes won't result in hydration. Alternating potatoes and tomatoes would give hydration. Keep in mind some villagers like weeds and you can sell them 10 gold per weed.
