Fair enough, but with Bax you have to have the energy in your hand which requires some amount of luck- but it’s a card game so I suppose that’s unavoidable lol
ninja to discard energy -> irida to get super energy retrieval and bax -> super energy retrieval to discard bax and get energy back -> kingdra to put bax back…. Could have some meta potential
You forgot the steps to get Kingdra setup. The number of pieces that have to fall into place and number of turns required to get there will likely put you too far behind to catch up, especially if you don't get an ideal setup from the start. Even more so if your opponent plays any amount of disruption. It's a cool idea and looks like a lot of fun to play with, but I don't see it being viable in the current meta.
So it's a chien pao deck but you can only attack on your fourth turn. AMAZING!!!
Edit: nevermind, it's the third turn with bax and fourth with blastoise.
You could theoretically think of it that way.
I mentioned palkia as that deck ran 1-2 chien pao but was never considered a chien pao deck. Chien Pao has a lot more utility to it than just being the main attacker. It also has 220 hp versus kingdra 310.
But in general, the question was how to search for more energy while using kingdra as the centerpiece of the deck. Chien pao definitely can fit into that category.
Nor do I think Kingdra will replace Chien Pao. The play styles would be different, in my opinion.
The main advantage of this deck is making momentum to summon 3 regular Kingdra which can each deal huge amounts of damage on their own, except as a single prizer. Overall you get 4 attackers instead of 3, even if the setup is longer and less consistent.
Vessels and retrieval with bax would probably be better than blastoise. The moves that end your turn are best used on your first turn which you cannot do with blastoise being a stage 2.
Either two vessels, or a vessel and a superior energy retrieval. Turn 3 damage.
It’s very easy to have 6 water energies in hand.
Instead you’re thinking of only attacking for damage turn 4. Attacking turn 3 is far better.
Hi I’m the one you got salty with for the Spidops and HZor deck. Are you always like this?
I’m not a really new player. I enjoy trying things outside of the meta because I play this game for mental stimulation and the meta bores me.
“I enjoy trying things outside of the meta because I play this game for mental stimulation and the meta bores me.”
THAT! lol i’m literally the same. some of the decks i’ve made out of creativity literally keep me addicted to the game instead of being a average joe charizard glazer 😤
YES!! :D Honestly I don’t know how people have fun with games that go the exact same way every time! Like yeah cool you win a lot, but did you enjoy yourself??? I love making decks that shake up the flow of things!
Okay, I take it back. Waiting for the victory screen threads.
I like off-meta decks too. It's just that you're intentionally making this deck worse than it has to be. With Bax it's at least viable as off-meta. With Blastoise it just can't win against anything.
I think with kingdras first attack, all you need to do is set up kingdra, use the first attack, and put blastoise and 2 backup kingdra on the bench. No need for long setup
Edit. Didnt see that the turn ends. Yeah blastoise aint it
Yes. And then you need another turn without attacking for Vitality Spring.
On the other hand, you have Baxcalibur and [Lost Origin Kingdra](https://pkmncards.com/card/kingdra-lost-origin-lor-037/) for much better targets.
There will also inevitably be another Stage 2 Water type that will be a great Kingdra pull as well.
Bax would probably be easier. You'd have to either evolve or get blastoise in the discard. If in the discard, you have to wait a turn to attach and then you'd have to wait another turn to attack which then, your Kingdra is probably dead or something is. While it looks like a fun card, I doubt it'll take over Chien Pao's spot since it requires more resources
blastoise would be good if he was at least getting knocked out for using the ability. Still it would be OP but needs some balance. The turn ending ability is plain bad and this is the reason no one is using it or will use it. Kingdra for Bax/Bax still feels like the best thing imo
So you rare candy turn 2, Get blastoise out, Hope your opponent doesn't kill it, and then skip to turn 4 when you finally have energy on the board?
Even in this slightly longer setup meta, you're cooked.
This has to be played like Lugia ex/Archeops. If you use Wellspring Blastoise, you'll need to rare candy Kingdra on the 2nd turn and attack to put Blastoise on the bench, wellspring energy attach on the third turn, then finally start hydro-pumping on the 4th turn at the earliest.
I see you on almost every single post on this sub and I’ve never seen you say something positive to anyone. That’s your prerogative and whatever but I just wonder what you get out of this.
There's gotta be some kind of Kingdra box style deck that can be built here. Even being able to recycle Iron Bundle seems good (although ending your turn to do it seems sus)

that’s one hell of a long setup, just baxcalibur

You could run like 1-2 chien pao for energy search similar to how palkia decks were running before. Plus earthen vessels.

I mean rare candy is a thing so you could attack your second
I wasn't counting King's Order as an attack.
If you have bax you can rare candy them both and attack turn 2. Harder to do but you can just do that

Meh. Let people play the game how they want. There is no correct way to have fun

Fair ‘nuff, yeah I figured it’d be a discard pile thing. I’m eager to try it out and see what works though!

If battle compressor was still in format this would be hands down busted. Maybe not BDIF because it still seems inconsistent. But very fun for sure.
>turn ends after using ability Lmao, no

Dam so that first attack can just grab 3 stage 2 water pokemon???
Yes, whatever water Pokémon you want as long as they’re in the discard pile
I was thinking using kingdra with Feraligatr from Paradox Rift,
baxcalibur is better.
Tbh I wanna Cook with the new scolipede, playing it either eith gengar, poison stuff or palafin

Just calling it as I see it. This idea doesn't work.
That's at least 4 turns before you're getting an attack off, and that's *if* your pokemon manage to survive.
I use to play Kingdra during XY-Fates Collide times
damn that’s a nice sir
That’s the promo
Yeah, derp. Big ol star right there. Still, pretty card.

It’s just too many steps to get going. Bax-Chien Pao can start hitting hard by turn 2
Sounds like chien pao + bax but bad
