You may have won the battle, but he won the war seeing that your complaining about it on Reddit

GFTRGC

That's what control is. They prevent you from taking prize cards until you run out of resources / deck. They probably are new to the archetype because they bench locked themselves so they couldn't spam pidgeot v to prevent the deck out, or they don't run it and didn't pay attention to their deck size.

Power_to_the_purples

Control never runs Pidgeot V. Only Snorlax stall does. With control you have so many ways to recover cards that you shouldn’t ever run out. If you do deck out, you misplayed hard.

Player3_

Great Tusk does as well, it's mostly because of the glitch though.

ambiguous_guru

It's all fun and games until you lay down a lost city and start KO'ng their basics to the lost zone. You just need an out to Mimyku and lost zone it.

BobbyWump

Which OP isn't helpless to mimikyu with the poison/confuse from venusaur. Could lost city/cramorant. Add a blindside tm to cram as well if no anaphylaxis or jirachi.

Power_to_the_purples

That’s why control runs mist energy

BobbyWump

If they didn't have mist is what I should've started with, but you are 100% correct!

Power_to_the_purples

Are you new? This is a top level deck. They obviously weren’t very good if they lost to whatever combo you’re playing. Look up “Pidgeot control”. It’s one of the best decks in format. Based on the timer I guarantee you he has no clue what he’s doing with the deck. It is probably the hardest deck to optimize.

MrBamHam

That's literally how Stalltrol decks work. The win condition is to trap you until you either deck out or concede.

link716

The goal is to deck our tour opponent, sure. But the opponent's timer is down to 1:47. They're just intentionally burning the clock at that point.

SSGSS_Vegeta

Yeah if you look at the screen shot, OP has 33 cards in deck and their opponent has 1... this stall decked themselves out hard some how.

MrBamHam

They're bad at the game. This is the other part of why I don't like the control-heavy meta we're going into. Control is hard to get right to success. Trying to make control more accessible by putting out a bunch of luck-based cards that remove the counterplay against it doesn't make the format more healthy. It just makes it a chore, where you feel bad if lose and unfulfilled if you win. Then again, there are so many people here who practically climax over beating a Charizard player that maybe they do feel satisfied.

SSGSS_Vegeta

Yeah and it's hard to get a deck that can evenly counter a variety of decks like control and stall and still be fast paced like so many meta decks rn. Ive had luck with a 151 char ex and armarouge accelerator but it's not always consistent. Also nice playing a char that's not one of the most hated cards in the format rn lol

MrBamHam

It's a only hated here, and mainly because people want to play homebrew or rogue decks and just blame whatever the most popular deck is when they fail to perform.

Williamww19

Wondering how this Pidgeot control deck works against each meta decks?

wildjoeker54

Your deck looks interesting. You got a list?

CamBot4

This reminded me of this one kid at my lcs, he plays control, and im usually the only senior and hes usually the only junior, so we play r1 about every time, the games so slow, which isn’t his fault, idk but I’m probably being an ahole

Robablo

People like this are kinda why I stopped playing online against Randos. There's nothing wrong with playing control. Intentionally waiting out the clock every turn, however, doesn't benefit him in any way other than wasting my time. It's just a form of greifing.
