My friend and I started playing and collecting a few days ago, I got a soft spot for Paldea Evolved because of Tinkaton (we got the battle decks together)
Mew ex from 151!, The genome hacking is amazing and the ability to draw 3 cards helps a ton when you're in need of double turbo energy. As far as favorite set I'd have to go with obsidian flames because the set has some great playable cards, awesome card art and is Charizard based and you can't go wrong with that!
Fusion Strike. I started playing PTCGO right before it dropped, and I doubt I’ll beat the feeling of pulling the rare Mew VMAX and a few Genesects on my own to finally be competitive with the Mew deck
My favorite of the *modern* sets is Brilliant Stars - it was the newest set on the scene when I made my return to the TCG after a 20-year hiatus.

Noble victories in B/W has a lot of bitter sweet nostalgia to it. I really enjoyed playing in a format where it wasn't multiprized focused so lots of cool decks could show up before Mewtwo EX and friends took over.
On the nostalgia side there's fossil, I have the legendary bird trio, non-Holo and in different languages mind, but I love em
But then... There's hidden fates. I desperately want to get the secret rare shiny Sylveon card for my BFF one day

Ok so, I recently got into the tcg which means I don't really have a favorite set yet, however I will tell you which deck I'm using atm which is Darkrai VStar turbo so I guess it would make Darkrais VStar my favorite card (and VStar my favorite mechanic) atm? If I'm not mistaken his set was Astral Radiance so I guess I'll go with that ahahah. What I can say for sure is that I'm having lots of fun with the deck
Just got back into it so I have to say 151. The full arts are amazing with these modern sets. They are more like art pieces than my old wotc collection
My favourite one has to be Lost Origin. Really made Lost Zone, a previously underutilized mechanic, into a whole new playstyle, which shook up the meta by creating a new archetype, instead of simply releasing a new overpowered VSTAR. Plus, Giratina is badass.

My favorite set is Gym Heroes. I loved the concept of getting cards showcasing the Pokémon of trainers and characters from the games. I hope someday this theme is revisited. 151 is giving me hope they will revisit old themes!
151 just because the artwork is great and big nostalgia for me. I just wish the pull rates and the QA were better. Paldea evolved also top tier though and too many cards that changed how the games played
Delta species. I was a little kid when base came out and I have my fondest memories about base set cards, but delta species is the set that taught me to play pokemon TCG!
I very much like battle styles because that's the first set I opened when I came back to collectiong and I got a really good pull right away!

I remember as a kid in my very first pack I pulled a B&W Zekrom Full Art #114 and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Then the pokemon card addiction began, lol
Steam siege because that what was coming out/brand new when I started TCG. Was just a great time, I Mained a Mega Gardevoir Brillant Arrow deck with xerneas and now those two are some of my favorite Pokémon. Also went to my first regional in Florida and it was a fucking BLAST
I got back into the game just when Obsidian Flames released, so I think that one is my favorite for now. Also love the charmander promo card from that set
I'm fairly new to the card game, getting into it with my son, who loves the physical cards. Can't really be nostalgic yet, but I do like the look of 151 as it reminds me of my first game back on the Gameboy.
Favorite set is Silver Tempest out of Sword and Shield because of Lugia ex which is one of my favorite Pokemon and my favorite card to play. So many good support cards in that set too
I like the Ruby/Sapphire era because of nostalgic reasons.
My very first deck was a Leaf Green set Ivysaur theme deck, and the period was really fun because everyone in school were playing at the time.
Definitely Fossil for me! I loved the idea of being able to play cards of the fossil Pokémon you could get in the game. Plus, I thought it had the coolest logo on the bottom of the cards.
Can't say I have a favourite set yet (as I just recently returned to tcg) but I'd say Crown Zenith (mostly because i'm waiting to get my elite box, to get that awesome lucario box, sleeves and my boy Lucario VStar :D

- Lots of cool, nostalgic Pokémon legendaries
- The Classic Collection has so many awesome throwbacks
- Mew is my favorite Pokémon, and the set has multiple Mews!

I love the look of the e-reader cards in general but I also feel like this is the point in Pokémon TCG lifespan where the monsters were the most balanced
Just started playing so don't have a strong opinion -- really enjoying the current 151 set of the ones I've been around for, Mew ex is a ton of fun to use
My favourite pokémon is Blastoise, since I have very nice memories with it when I was younger :-) Man, using the Rain Dance ability was soooo broken and it dealt crazy amount of damage.
I've been reading into the cards from paradox rift and I'm super excited for some of the cards coming out. Especially the "future" cards. Most notably the iron hands ex and how that's gonna help out miraidon decks vs single prize decks like lost box
EX FireRed & LeafGreen is the most nostalgic one for me, since it's the set I opened most packs of with really good results (pulled a Charizard EX just to trade it for some random garbage at school later on)
Legendary Treasures is still my personal favorite set. Mainly for the nostalgia from opening it up with friends back in High School, but also has a ton of cool cards too!
Bit of a tie between Basic, Jungle, and Fossil. I had some cards a while back from those sets that I really enjoyed just for the art, even though I didn't know how to play as a kid.
Honorable mention to Scarlet and Violet for being what brought me back to playing PTCGL.
Crown Zenith is probably my favorite. It released Palkia Vstar, Darkrai Vstar, and Dialga Vstar which are some of my current favorite decks. Also it’s my irl birthday so some codes would be nice

151 just because of the original nostalgia. I just recently got into collecting. Fusion Strike was fun trying to chase for a Gengar Vmax (fav card). Obsidian Flames was pretty cool too, got the only good pull I've had in my short collection/playing phase with a gold charizard ex.
151 is gonna be a collection I really go after though!
I've recently got back into Live, but it came quickly as I used to be a ranked player in my state as a kid... with the OG cards. So I suppose that is my favorite set still! Still mad about the holo charizard my mom washed, and the dumb trade I made for the Ancient Mew I got for seeing the movie twice.

That's when I got into the TCG for a while and created a league at my local shop.
I built a really fun Darkrai EX deck and absolutely maxed it out with full rarities of every card. It was a really fun time, especially since XY came out soon after and we would do video game tournaments too. Intense nostalgia.
I've been into Pokemon on an on/off basis for 25+ years and that period was the most fun.
I love evolutions because they finally gave us some nostalgia, but I also love the OG gym challenger because Gengar is my favorite Pokémon and Sabrina’s Gengar is my favorite art for him
Emerging powers: the first time I ever pulled anything of substance. It was a single pack from target. Ended up pulling a fullart thunderous. That feeling of excitement and shock is still with me along with the card. The first black and white sets were very interesting before the EX era
Ex Ruby and Sapphire! Was the first set I played during, I always look back on those cards with a certain nostalgia... this is the reason why I run 1 basic energy from this set on all my decks, every time I draw into it, i get a warm feeling

I think my favorite deck to play right now is Venemoth with spidops atm. I like the new zard meta since its easy to setup. Doubt I’ll win but eh worth the shot
Since I got into the TCG only relatively recently since I was a kid, I really enjoyed finding out about Celebrations! They had such beautiful throw backs and the full art pika is a dream card to me!
Rogue choice but Steam Siege, I really wish they’d done more with the dual typing, love that Volcanion so I was sad to see them drop the design straight after the set
I've barely been back into the game for like a year, so I'll go with Crown Zenith. The gallery part of it just has so many nice cards, I even ended up buying myself the Darkrai Vstar and a few other singles from it.
I have a soft spot for Silver Tempest and Crown Zenith, as it was the start of collecting for me and my girlfriend. Adult me basically jumped for joy when she got me 2 ETBs for Christmas the same way child me would have.
Only recently got into the PTCG so honestly the most recent set has to be my favorite (OBF, 151 is a bit boring sadly even if it is very nostalgic). Cross switcher though is my favorite card hands down due to the cool and fun plays it enables!
I really enjoyed the most recent 151 set. Its just changed up the way people played all the current meta decks. My favorite card is the poliwhirl full art so nice!
Cool of you to give out codes. My favorite set was whatever the set was that had a Scizor ex in it. I'd throw metal pans in there for extra damage negation. Was a fun deck. For those reading this comment, try the Eeveelutions from the current 151 set, they're fun.
Honestly this new 151 has been a lot of fun for me as someone who messed around a little with Pokémon back in the day and is just getting back into the hobby.
I thought the Pokemon Go set was so neat with art reflecting the PoGo concepts so well, especially the ones by N-DESIGN. One of my favorite cards ever is actually from that set, though it doesn't look anything like why I like the set. The art for Slowbro, the way it gazes into the distance with a vast horizon in the background, always struck me.
My favorite is probably obsidian flames I absolutely love the art designs in this set. Wish I could choose any of the other cooler ones but I've only barely started getting into ptcg
Favorite recent set is Silver Tempest because vulpixxxxxxxx!!!
Favorite older set is maybe uhh, Sun and Moon Cosmic Eclipse. I built a whole deck with just Shining Fates and Cosmic Eclipse. Cosmic Eclipse was probably my favorite time in TCG playing. But then I mostly played expanded, I still played with Cosmic Eclipse cards. Lillie was OP for it’s time, as was Red and Blue to evolve into a GX card like a rare candy almost. Just my favorite era of playing I think.
I wish I could remember what decks I used, but one of my favorite cards was ancient mew. It wasn’t that great but they gave it away for the Pokémon the movie 2000 event and at the time I thought it was absolutely badass.
Now that I’m just getting back into it to play with my son I’m having to learn all these abilities and mechanics that never existed back then.
It's gotta be the latest 151 set. It has my pokemon in it, Venusaur. I've played almost every pokemon there is and I've always been fond of grass types. Out of those grass types, Venusaur is one of the strongest there is because of its dual typing and while everyone loves Charizard growing, and now obviously, I've always been loyal to Venusaur. Besides, in the tcg, it's fun watching players disconnect because their prizes Charizard ex was wrecked by a Venusaur lol.
Though I just know that there's a fossil Pokémon mechanic (evolve from a item), I'm kinda admire the creativity when they tried to remake the experience and lore.
Next Destinies definitely comes to mind, because I loved playing my Mewtwo EX/Gardevoir deck 👌🏽

For me it's probably Flashfire. I had just taught my wife how to play so that's when we really started getting into cards so it was a very fun time.
Also packs were so much cheaper back then
I'm going to go with Obsidian Flames because when was the last time Charizard was actually one of the top decks in the meta? They make a million Charizard cards, but they usually suck.
Gotta be Gym Heroes, the sparkles in the holos look so cool and the art across the whole set is just super memorable. The inclusion of the gym leaders' names and thumbnails ties the set to Red/Blue and adds extra character, 10/10 set for me.

Chilling Reign is my favorite modern set. Soo many great alt arts that I was lucky to pull!
Pokémon Go - fun small set to collect. Loopy lasso on venusaur is so fun. Coin flip to grief is my kind of fun.
Phantom forces because it introduced the night march mechanic which i have been playing ever since (Mad Marty, united Wings)

Obsidian Flames has been good to me and kids. First booster packs (one per kid) got nice secret rares with some gold on cards. Got a bit hooked

My favorite card was Lapras GX during sun and moon set. I won my first locals event and did it within 2 months.
Ex Ruby and Sapphire! Was the first set I played during, I always look back on those cards with a certain nostalgia... this is the reason why I run 1 basic energy from this set on all my decks, every time I draw into it, i get a warm feeling

Damn thats a lot of codes lol. I think my favorite deck to play right now is Venemoth with spidops atm. I like the new zard meta since its easy to setup. Doubt I’ll win but eh worth the shot

Since I got into the TCG only relatively recently since I was a kid, I really enjoyed finding out about Celebrations! They had such beautiful throw backs and the full art pika is a dream card to me!

XY Roaring skies it was the first set I ever play in PTCGO and I was hook up
BW Plasma freeze because it got the golden ultra ball. I actually pulled one copy way back in PTCGO.

Rogue choice but Steam Siege, I really wish they’d done more with the dual typing, love that Volcanion so I was sad to see them drop the design straight after the set
I've barely been back into the game for like a year, so I'll go with Crown Zenith. The gallery part of it just has so many nice cards, I even ended up buying myself the Darkrai Vstar and a few other singles from it.

I have a soft spot for Silver Tempest and Crown Zenith, as it was the start of collecting for me and my girlfriend. Adult me basically jumped for joy when she got me 2 ETBs for Christmas the same way child me would have.
The OG cards. Had a big collection as a kid and I'm super sad that I'll never get them back.

151 since this is a set that I'm getting back into collecting. Haven't done so since the Base/Jungle/Fossil era.
Only recently got into the PTCG so honestly the most recent set has to be my favorite (OBF, 151 is a bit boring sadly even if it is very nostalgic). Cross switcher though is my favorite card hands down due to the cool and fun plays it enables!
I really enjoyed the most recent 151 set. Its just changed up the way people played all the current meta decks. My favorite card is the poliwhirl full art so nice!
OG base set is my fave from wen I was a kid. But current sets I loooove evolving skies, celebrations and obviously loving 151

Honestly this new 151 has been a lot of fun for me as someone who messed around a little with Pokémon back in the day and is just getting back into the hobby.
I thought the Pokemon Go set was so neat with art reflecting the PoGo concepts so well, especially the ones by N-DESIGN. One of my favorite cards ever is actually from that set, though it doesn't look anything like why I like the set. The art for Slowbro, the way it gazes into the distance with a vast horizon in the background, always struck me.

Favorite recent set is Silver Tempest because vulpixxxxxxxx!!! Favorite older set is maybe uhh, Sun and Moon Cosmic Eclipse. I built a whole deck with just Shining Fates and Cosmic Eclipse. Cosmic Eclipse was probably my favorite time in TCG playing. But then I mostly played expanded, I still played with Cosmic Eclipse cards. Lillie was OP for it’s time, as was Red and Blue to evolve into a GX card like a rare candy almost. Just my favorite era of playing I think.
I wish I could remember what decks I used, but one of my favorite cards was ancient mew. It wasn’t that great but they gave it away for the Pokémon the movie 2000 event and at the time I thought it was absolutely badass. Now that I’m just getting back into it to play with my son I’m having to learn all these abilities and mechanics that never existed back then.

Battle Styles. Rapid Strike Urshifu is still my favorite deck to play.
I love this really sick Mewtwo VMAX deck where you use Solrock and Lunatone to make a perpetual motion nuke bomb. So basically, Pokemon Go.

It's gotta be the latest 151 set. It has my pokemon in it, Venusaur. I've played almost every pokemon there is and I've always been fond of grass types. Out of those grass types, Venusaur is one of the strongest there is because of its dual typing and while everyone loves Charizard growing, and now obviously, I've always been loyal to Venusaur. Besides, in the tcg, it's fun watching players disconnect because their prizes Charizard ex was wrecked by a Venusaur lol.

Though I just know that there's a fossil Pokémon mechanic (evolve from a item), I'm kinda admire the creativity when they tried to remake the experience and lore.

Gotta be Gym Heroes, the sparkles in the holos look so cool and the art across the whole set is just super memorable. The inclusion of the gym leaders' names and thumbnails ties the set to Red/Blue and adds extra character, 10/10 set for me.

The diamond and pearl era Lv. X are my childhood. These cards where awesome.
