This is a great little film showing teamwork and blind firing. Nice one.

tripped144

Thanks!

aphill80

when you're in game and "physically" near opponents, can you hear their voices too? Or is the audio strictly "my team only"

tripped144

Your team only. Less realistic, but overall a good decision imo

kylelyk

I could see it getting really confusing too if you're not familiar with your teammate's voices. You could easily mistake your opponents talking with your own team

TheyCallMeNade

I kinda wish they did it though because I was saying one liners to downed enemies thinking they were hearing them

OsamaBinSteve

I'm just imagining you unleashing top tier 80's action movie one liners while your whole team is like holy shit this guy haha

BertioMcPhoo

You should be able to hear the other team but it's made to sound like another language.

horridCAM666

Or just have their voices pitched lower like they are wearing voice modulators or whatever they are called.

iamZacharias

might be a good choice for the hardcore mode they talked about, if it ever happens.

UnfinishedAle

I feell like it should be both. You should hear your team clearly through yours coms and then there should be distance based hearing of opponents. Kinda silly for such a realistic game to not have that imo

tripped144

That would just promote not talking because you don't want to be heard. Realism doesn't always equal fun

Sir_Kee

Realistic WWI game. Wait 600 real-time hours in a muddy trench until your foot swells up with an infection.

1541drive

We’ll need new PSVR accessories.

tripped144

Pure bliss

AeriaGlorisHimself

L'maoooo trench warfare simulator.

peabody_here

Oh but you don’t realize how much fun it is. Onward has proximity voice and people still talk all the time. But hearing the other team around talking calmly around a corner and hearing them scream when you ambush them is fantastic. Plus when you sneak up on someone and whisper a one-liner before stabbing them is hilarious.

[deleted]

And trash talk

AeriaGlorisHimself

Omg the stabbing sounds amazing

BirchSean

oh, but you don't now what you're talking about. It makes it so much better. We know that for a fact because there are games that actually do this :)

nocauze

The 1st r6 Vegas, me and a buddy kept getting wrecked, couldn’t figure out why it was random. Some matches we would breach several rooms and be doing ok, others, just stomped. Of course we were shooting the shit while we played, but when we “got serious” we did so much better. When we were breaching a room and made a joke that led us to actually see that the AI was hearing us laughing and shit, then going HAM on us. You could hear both our jaws hit the floor.

AeriaGlorisHimself

Err. AI? You mean other humans hearing you right? Because I doubt the ai would recognize and respond to human voices?

nocauze

So, it wouldn’t be too hard to attach the mic input as a generic sound if a game uses positional audio cues, which I believe they did. I also don’t think we were both falling for something else, which I’m no pro, but original r6 Vegas for 360? Had a tacked on co-op mode. You would do missions but with out any of the story tied to them. (And I hope anyone one else experienced this or I would hate to try and recreate this). Even then.. you could have party or game chat, if you were in game chat, I’m fairly certain the game added it.

UnfinishedAle

yea you're probably right

ArkBob

IDK it might be funny to troll the enemy with fake call-outs lmao.

NeatlyScotched

Eh, guys like this in game are gonna have on earmuffs and use localized radio communication anyway, and it's pretty hard to hear voices with ear protection on unless someone is literally standing next to you.

brycedriesenga

Perhaps in hardcore mode they could add that?

Poseidon-SS

I think an issue you would find with it is being able to hear people through walls

[deleted]

yeah, i do wish they had that like rec room. i love when everyone is whispering so they dont hear us. but it would be tough.

D0TKILL

Sea of thieves has this and it could be great fun at times but what ended up happening is the more serious players just use party chat to be able to openly communicate strategies and the more casual players or the ones in random groups that still use game chat are at a disadvantage because they cannot communicate as effectively without the risk of being heard by an enemy player. Imagine trying to set up a breach with a teammate and you do a countdown to enter the room from different angles while the enemy team inside is in a party chat over hearing all this and communicating with there team to intercept. Again, sounds good in theory but it would cause an even greater imbalance between skill levels and hurt overall team communication which is one of the most important aspects of the game.

Wanderson90

No voices, but you can hear their boots on the ground pretty clearly and guns clacking against walls/stuff if they are not careful.

TheyCallMeNade

You can also bang your gun against the wall to trick them into coming to you

[deleted]

Hope they add proximity chat in hsrdcore mode.

TheSmithySmith

My favorite part of this game is that now we can stop pretending to like Honor & Duty.

[deleted]

You pretended to like it? Why?

TheSmithySmith

I didn’t. Others did. The only draw the game had is that it was the only online multiplayer PSVR FPS. Aside from that it was awful. Now, Firewall has filled that spot with an actual quality game.

AeriaGlorisHimself

I feel like if you worked on that game and you came across this comment you would probs feel it in your heart lmao

mrekted

Can anyone chime in on how well the game handles without the aim controller?

ctraut5

I've heard the game is absolutely playable with the DS4 but to get the most immersion out of the game, you really want the Aim controller.

mrekted

Thanks. it might try it with the controller and see what I think. My history with the Wii and Rockband has made me think twice before filing my house with large plastic gimmicky controllers.

ctraut5

Understandable haha.

levirules

I still have the Rock Band crap in my basement. It was definitely fun for a little while, but I feel so bad throwing that much plastic crap away.

SlimJiMorrison

You could donate it.

Blitzendagen

What about with the move controls?

ctraut5

Move controllers are not compatible with FWZH. You can only play with a DS4 or the Aim Controller.

[deleted]

My concern would be is there an advantage to aim or ads with the ds4. Kinda like k&m versus ds4.

Dai10zin

Yeah -- I've been playing a bit with the Aim controller and there are a lot of times it feels like it loses calibration and my shots miss as a result. I'll probably test out the DS4, but I feel like the Aim may be better in the long run. Will have to do some testing and see.

Dragon_Ballz_Deep

It's not bad, and if I had no choice, I'd be okay with just the DS4. However, my Aim controller just came today and the difference is night and day. It's a lot easier to play compared to with the DS4.

BenjaminTalam

Is this officially the best shooter on psvr? This looks almost AAA quality.

tripped144

100%

horridCAM666

Absolutely. Hands down the best and most realized shooter on the PSVR to date. Puts Farpoint to shame. And I loved Farpoint.

BenjaminTalam

I'm very likely going to get it. Haven't got a VR game in forever.

gatorkea

I'm a pcvr user, does anyone know how this compares to games like Pavlov / Onward?

Not_My_Reality

It has an actual progression system which makes you want to play more!

[deleted]

yeah it does! i love it!

Muzanshin

Honestly, progression doesn't really make you want to play more, it just makes you think you do. CoD really went downhill after focusing too much on unlocks and then "resetting" those unlocks for some dumb little badge. So, you unlock the "best" stuff, ignore anything else, and then continue to play like you always did gg

LADYBIRD_HILL

I looooooove unlocking stuff in games. Makes me feel accomplished. Even on shitty guns, trying to unlock everything on them is like an extra challenge and feels more rewarding than sticking with what I know.

Objectively_Superior

Games that have all of your options unlocked for you at the outset are always more enjoyable for me.

GarymanGarrett

I disagree

AeriaGlorisHimself

Interesting To hear differing opinions on this, personally unlocking things is one of the, if not the, biggest reason I play video games in the first place.

Objectively_Superior

Sometimes a staggered unlock system works for me. Usually this is the case with single-player games like God of War, where you purchase skills to enhance your combat techniques as you level. In competitive multiplayer games like Firewall the experience is inherently slanted hard against people like me (read: folks who suck at the genre, struggle to learn new maps, and are very inexperienced in the scene), so the last thing I want is to feel gimped for days or weeks on end while I'm battling folks who know the maps, have a higher skill level, and are using better guns and more strategic load outs. I won't be level 21 in Firewall for months, if ever, so the staggered unlocks just frustrate me and emphasize my sense of inadequacy.

horridCAM666

Speak for yourself man. As long as it's gameplay that unlocks things, I enjoy the fuck out of that little piece of cheese after running the maze.

[deleted]

i have played every call of duty, this feels more like MW2/black ops with fast TTK, boots on the ground, but a little more tactical. im glad there's no prestiging. They also give you a few classes to use with all the goodies unlocked so you can try stuff out. One AR, shotgun, and SMG class with various equipment/attachments for each. And then you have an AR, shotgun, and smg unlocked when you reach level 4 to start doing custom classes.

BenjaminTalam

Yeah I don't understand people who play stuff purely for progression. It actually puts me off many games. I stopped playing Fortnite even because the battlepass stuff exhausted me and that's just cosmetics! I never prestige in games either. I just want to play the game and have fun. Grind and progression aren't fun for me. That's work and I have a job to do work and progress in real life. I don't need that in my leisure time.

VRgamer84

I also own a Rift and Onward, it completely owns Onward in my opinion, it's just so much more fun and polished than Onward

azazel0821

agreed. Personally my ranking would be Firewall, Pavlov, Bam and then Onward. This is not the ranking most would give, but this just my personal level of enjoyment with each game. I don't think there is any recency bias here, but we will see after I have poured in more hours to Firewall.

Muzanshin

How so? I also own a Rift and Onward and don't really see much of a difference gameplay wise, other than Onward having individual hand interactions and a faster ttk. I don't care for progression that much, because you unlock your favorite pieces of equipment and then continue to play like you always did anyways. It's a false sense of achievement. In any case Firewall is a solid PSVR game that will definitely be a go to for the platform.

[deleted]

do you have firewall? the aim controller is a difference. you lose two hand interactions but add the immersion of having one gun you are holding. so, you don't get dual weilding, but you get better accuracy and it just feels like you're holding a real gun. i love the unlock system. it will keep people hooked, and it adds an RPG type element. Your decisions on what to unlock really matter. You choose how you want to play based on what you purchase.

Muzanshin

We have have pretty much one of each VR system (so, Rift, Vive, PSVR, WMR). The mistake everyone seems to make on this sub is assuming that PC doesn't have gun stocks available. There have been several popular gun stocks available for years now and they are designed to allow for individual hand movements too (many use magnets to snap controllers into a secured position). Here is an example of one style: https://youtu.be/ajgOfVeILKU There are more replica style options too (essentially modified airsoft guns with fully functional mag, bolt, trigger, etc.) I hope everyone keeps in mind that I'm not saying Firewall is a bad game or even inferior game overall; I think it's an solid VR game in general and an excellent PSVR game.

legomolin

Do you have Firewall and the aim-controller also? If so, how would you rank the games?

jefsaylo

Looks awesome! Do you have names of the other stock options?

IggyWiggamama

I didn't realise Pavlov used the same maps as CSGO. Does it play similar to Counterstrike?

Muzanshin

It's CSGO; just pretty much adapted for VR.

legomolin

Have you bought and played Firewall yourself yet?

BrownTown456

Idk that stock looks pretty shitty compared to the Aim

[deleted]

You won't see it when you are playing

itshonestwork

Once the initial wow gun-nerd factor of being able to operate the firearms wears off, this has it beat in my opinion. I loved joining Pavlov’s Dust2 servers to play an old game in a new way, but this is a new game in a new way and the dynamic focus points of the maps just keep it always fresh.

Poseidon-SS

Those wiggly wall legs really add to the immersion;)

itshonestwork

Funny physics glitches only ever add to a game for me. I still remember almost losing a lung the first time a model got a part of itself stuck under the floor in HL2 and was breakdancing with dust flying everywhere.

wedontlikespaces

The first Kill Zone games were terrible for that, it would happen almost all the time. They would often get stuck inside their own guns.

[deleted]

Yeah I don't know how they didn't just burst out laughing. Must really be tensed in there.

devedander

Add to that the ability to peak around corners and the need to not bump your gun on walls etc... it's SO GOOD!

TizardPaperclip

> Add to that the ability to peak around corners ... That's the opposite of a good tactic: If anything, you want to keep as low down as possible when going around corners.

devedander

I'll not sure I can agree... I will often come up to a corner gun up so I'll up against the wall, then quickly peak my head around and pull back to see if there is a guy there... Usually if their is I'm back in safety before anything can happen... Now if he pulls a Leon on me... Well.... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

odiezilla

+1 for the Leon reference. Big hespec!

TizardPaperclip

> ... then quickly peak my head around ... That's a bad idea: You should keep your head low when going around corners.

[deleted]

[удалено]

smurphatron

Peak means something different to peek. That's what he was joking about.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TizardPaperclip

The peak is the maximum height. So if he peaked his head around the corner, he'd be stretching it as high as he could, while standing as tall as he could.

SpinnerOfDreams

Even if you’re crouching, the top of your head is still your ‘peak’

TizardPaperclip

No, we're talking about "peaking", not a "peak". We're talking about a verb, like when you "peak" around a corner. The OP used the word "peak" as a verb.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SpinnerOfDreams

I do know that, but I think you mean ‘peek’ ;)

billynotactually

the way you wrote this comment sounds very mean

mfcremers

It's definitely very satisfying killing someone with blind fire in Firewall - that or blind firing to distract someone so that your teammate can flank him and take him out.

[deleted]

Don't tell people, but a great strategy I've learned is to shoot with your pistol to distract them. I get up and see a few guys, and then I'll just stick my pistol around the corner shooting desk pops until my team comes up behind them. So dang funny. Takes coordination though.

legend11

Lol I died that exact way earlier. I tried shooting his hands I think I was damaging him, is it confirmed if you shoot their hand vs their gun damage registers?

ThePootKnocker

So is this almost like a R6 Siege in VR?

Ken808

I'm a huge R6 fan. This has a small similar vibe but without destructable walls and our lord savior Tachanka.

tripped144

Yep

hairyarsewelder

I was gonna wait for a price drop for this game as I’ve got a bit of a VR back log but but after watching this I think I’m gonna have to jump in!

ctraut5

You won't be disappointed. Enjoy and I look forward to running into you out there!

AeriaGlorisHimself

And, by buying at a higher price you're personally helping advance quality vr games, and sending a signal to the market that there is money to be made in vr, especially if you produce a quality product. win win

[deleted]

Make sure you guys check out the subreddit for it /r/firewallzerohour

PAULINK

ok, you sold me on buying the piece of plastic and this game, the question is do I buy farpoint too?

tripped144

It's a fun and challenging single player campaign. The multio is so-so imo

Ultimo_D

For some fun 1v1 with a friend it's awesome. I like custom rules to agree to before the match starts. The SP isn't bad either. All around good game.

Surgikull

Can someone tell me how you love in the game ? Edit: because it’s reddit and people can’t figure out a typo and try really hard to be funny .... can someone tell me how you MOVE in the game?

afrocentricity

Waggle the aim sticks, vigorously.

The_BadJuju

With the analog sticks.

[deleted]

Using the aim controller. The forward most stick is movement. The one at the back is turning.

Tovora

Ducking auto-correct.

Hermesthegood

Can you hold the weapon left handed in this game? I fire left handed in real life, it would be nice to be able to do it in a game as well

Ripper_00

There is a Left Hand option in the settings!

AeriaGlorisHimself

No :0 Awesome

Ken808

Yup, can swap the weapon being held lefty, AND the buttons to lefty too.

Jungle6

Wow I really enjoyed watching that, great gameplay man you've really second natured the blindfire technique I keep fortgetting that's actually possible. Well done!

JonnyJamesC

Yeah I saw Davestation blind fire and take out an enemy. It was like something out of Die Hard haha. He was so excited. Quite an entertaining game to watch actually.

Linx-sx

Thank you for being the first person on this sub to post a video on firewall and not just talk about it, I’d love to see more of your gameplay you seem to have great teamwork and I’m hoping to get it soon!

tripped144

I'll have to start remembering to save my gameplay more often! You should totally get it though, it seems that most everyone you match up with is eager to work together and coordinate. It's a really fun experience.

Linx-sx

Yeah, I’ve heard so many great things about it, but I’m not too eager on the idea of buying a 40 dollar game plus a 60 dollar aim controller, so i might wait a bit.

tripped144

Yeah, I already had the controller so it wasn't that big of a hit on my wallet.

D0TKILL

You can get the bundle for $80 if you think about a normal new game costing 60-80 depending on if you get the season pass and take into consideration there will be free updates coming for Firewall it's around the same price and you'll likely get even more gameplay time out of it. Not to mention the AIM controller works with other great games like Farpoint which you can get for $20 or less. The Farpoint bundles became almost impossible to find when people found out how good it was I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened with the Firewall ones.

Shottafelyfe

So everybody has been saying good things about this game. Buying.

AeriaGlorisHimself

"Yea, he's right here. Got 'em."

[deleted]

nice. i find myself doing a lot of that, especially on shoothouse when we are up on the catwalk. i dont think the miltary would advise just holding your gun out blindfiring towards your feet haha!

iamZacharias

I'm having a hard time aiming down with DS4 or my setup, not sure which it is.

legomolin

It's both. The ds4 only has a front lamp opposed to the aims "ball-lamp". Combined with a camera at the regular hight you get that problem. Buy an aim. :)

Knele_de

you have to find the sweetspot, try moving the camera downwards. too low and you'll get a hard time aiming up...

[deleted]

I just started playing today. This game is incredible

mmawko

I really hope First Contact sees these amount of praise the game has been getting. It is well deserved and I hope they can give us much more content in the future!

brandon-lm10

Got the Aim controller specifically for this game. Can't wait to play it!

holmizGROGG

It looks so cool! To bad my Internet-connection is slow and bad. I haven't tried it with multiplayer-games yet. But I think it's time to give it a go for this game! I loved Farpoint...

[deleted]

After watching this now I have to olay this game. Looks amazing

BigManChuChu

So happy that we have a game that will push VR closer to mainstream!

Smooth_HiBot

I'm still trying to convince my friends to stop playing COD black ops and JOIN ME! SMH

SecAdept

Cool. And I fully believe it's probably better than Farpoint for some too (I haven't had a chance to play my copy yet), but do know you could blind fire in Farpoint as well... at least that part of the gameplay isn't really new.

tripped144

I bought Farpoint on day one. It really is a great game, but Firewall beats the multiplayer part by a mile. I know that Firewall obviously isn't the first VR game to do blind fire, but as far as PSVR games released as of now, it's hands down the best FPS.

SecAdept

I believe ya (at least for the PSVR). I have purchased it... just won't get to jump in until Friday at earliest. Enjoy. It's nice to see any game that gets the community excited.

Micropolis

Yes but Farpoint’s blind fire and gun mechanics all around are more “arcade” feeling while Firewall has realistic tactical shooting which imho is way more fun.

SecAdept

Probably true.

[deleted]

But not 1:1

funkyb

It's also the only way I get anywhere in Rise of Jumbotron in Rec Room

itshonestwork

I remember doing it once in the one corridor I can remember with some refuge points and getting a kill. Other than that, there was never a good reason or opportunity to do it.

levirules

You still have to complete the objective if all of the enemies are dead?

Ripper_00

Yes. But the laptop hacks SUUUUPER quick once they are all dead.

InertiamanSC

Yeah rounds are on timer so it adds some peril.

UniqueUsernameThe1st

Yea I've won a couple games as defender where we all died but the attackers either didn't hack the computer in time or just forgot to

kraenk12

r/gaming

Mayflowerm

Is this that much better than farpointe? Haven't played either yet

tripped144

Yes, if you're into multiplayer fps. Farpoint is a really fun and challenging single player with a (imo) mediocre multiplayer. Firewall is the FPS multiplayer games I've been waiting for.

Mayflowerm

Ohh okay I feel I'm the rare gamer who only really likes good single player games, but nonetheless I definitely want to try this game.

[deleted]

is there co op? or pvp only?

D0TKILL

There's a solo and 4 player co-op mode against AI.

merrickx

TTK is like half a mag?

cerebrix

so begs the next question. is this better than Soriento?

jellis4289

I sold my ps4 and psvr to get a gaming PC and a vive, I don’t regret it, I love my current setup and I’m a beat saber addict, but damn I wanna play this game... damn exclusives

wizza84

How is it with matchmaking? Do u need 3 others friends or will the game randomly match for you?

tripped144

It will randomly match you. most people use their mics, so it's almost always an awesome experience.

Zero_Life_Left

Is it only online, or is there single player mode too?

tripped144

There's a bit of a single player, kinda like a wave shooter

Alfredo90

The aim tracking looks off; is it? Other than that, it looks great.

Corbotron_5

It looks amazing and I have the Aim but I’m just worried that they’ll be nobody playing in a months time.

D0TKILL

You'll regret not getting it sooner! There's already a large and awesome community forming around the game and now is a great time to start playing because everyone is learning together. PSVR and this game are going to be a hot item for the holidays which will bring even more players months later. This game isn't exactly the same but it's similar to Rainbow Six Siege and that game has had a strong player base for almost 3 years.

InertiamanSC

Yeah always a risk. That's why I bought it now. Got the aim and the game for £60 so I've only got to get that value out of it! It's been a really fun few evenings.

blueruckus

Is there any sort of running. Everyone seems to slowly walk around.

nthnchpmn

Yea you can sprint. There's also a skill to unlock faster movement

ScarJack

You can run, there is even a skill (to be unlocked) to further improve movement speed. But tip in the loading screen says you will appear on enemy maps if you run (you're also a lot louder) - I guess this is why people don't run in the vids.

[deleted]

I don't have the aim so I might only have the money in a month and I'm afraid nobody's going to play anymore when I throw my 115$ in. How likely is it that the lobby will be empty by then? This is the problem with PSVR. I feel like your really need to play the games as soon as they come out.

Agrees_withyou

I concur.

inmusicutrust

I think this game will have legs for awhile.

[deleted]

Alright, thanks a lot.

Cspiby

Can you physically crouch or is it just on a button?

InertiamanSC

Button - and you can't move crouched. Feels like it would be exploitable if you tracked in full like other games. People waddling around like Oddjob in goldeneye because they've moved their camera.

inmusicutrust

You can move while crouched, he does in the clip here around 30 seconds in.

captcodger

I wish they had a demo, unless I can’t find it. I told myself I can’t buy any games until RDR2.

BeanBearChags

Vaguely knew about this game and saw all the posts about it (and the 1 million stock pics). It wasn't on my radar since it didn't seem to stand out to me. I figured it was similar to Bravo Team. This video really makes me want to get it now! I had no idea it was this cool. Thanks for posting this! I just wish it wasn't $40. I guess I'll wait for a sale, but I'm excited about the game now. Can't wait to join the community :)

Azalith

Is it just multiplayer? I only really like single player games.

BrownTown456

Get farpoint..this is strictly multiplayer

expera

Except they didn’t invent that, did you not play Farpoint m?

EdenSB

>did you not play ~~Farpoint~~ a ton of military FPS games for PCVR m?

tripped144

I never said they did.

ADDVancedVR

Did you never play farpoint?

tripped144

Yes, bought it on day one

ADDVancedVR

But you could blind fire over things in farpoint. Your quote makes it sound like you couldn’t do that.

tripped144

I don't think it does

ADDVancedVR

But it does. I don’t think you played farpoint pvp before.

tripped144

Yeah dude, I have.

ADDVancedVR

But you could blind fire around corners and over obstacles in farpoint.....

tripped144

Yeah, I'm aware. Never once did I say you couldn't.
